TV Newsy Bits for October 2, 2006

It's Monday!

Well, I can pretend to be excited about it, can't I?

I watched the second episode of Heroes tonight. I'm not sure where that show is going, but I'm going to stick with it. I guess I'm a bit of a comic-geek wandering mind type. Of course, my favorite character on the show is Hiro. His YATA exclamation in NYC reminds me so much of BJ and Tyler last season on The Amazing Race with their TATOW!

I want to thank everyone in the comments from the day. You folks are fantastic and, did you notice? Not one commenter stood up and said, "I think you're wrong about Peter. He's a saint." Heh.

In other real TV news:

What did you watch tonight?

For me Monday is all about "How I Met Your Mother" and "Studio 60." My husband works late on Mondays so I have to save Studio 60 for tomorrow night so I caught up on "Brothers and Sisters" tonight and "Men in Trees". Tivo is one of the best inventions ever. :) I have taped the first two episodes of "Heroes" and wondered if it's worth watching. I have "Kidnapped" recorded too. Shoot I have all of "Eureka" on my Tivo and haven't decided if I'm going to watch that or not! hehehe

Hi Jackie!

I am addicted to Prison Break, so Monday always starts there!

Tonight I decided to skip Studio 60 to get going with The Bachelor: Rome. Not sure who I really like yet, but definitely know who has already gotten on my last nerve two hours into the new season!

Desiree from SLC ("ooh, baby") and Erica from Houston (socialite) are just not working for me. I guess we always need someone to love and someone to not love on every reality show!

dla

PS: Dump him, Sarah!!!

I'm already addicted to Heroes and believe I will continue to tune in.

I'm loving TAR10! And, agree, Sarah should dump Peter although she's kind of annoying in her own way, so maybe they are made for each other!

Go David/Mary!

I tried watching Heroes last night but couldn't get into it. I switched the channel after the first 15 minutes. Could it be because I didn't watch the first episode?

I ended up watching The Dwarf Family and Surviving Sextuplets and Twins on TLC. The Dwarf Family was just another version of Little People, Big World.

Surviving Sextuplets and Twins was very interesting. This young couple from PA were having trouble conceiving, so they did fertility. They had twin girls and when the girls were a few years old, they decided to go for it again. They ended up seeing 7 heartbeats!! Shortly after, they ended up in the hospital and one of the heartbeats was gone. She carried the other 6 (3 boys, 3 girls) to 29 weeks. They were 15 months old in the show and the twins were 5. I can't even imagine it!!

What impressed me most is that the couple were very honest in front of the cameras. Most times, on a biography show like that, you can tell the people aren't being their "real" selves. This couple told it exactly like it is...from having that many kids to how the husband feels about his wife's body. She even showed her shrunken stretched out stomach!! If anyone's interested, I found their website Gosselin Sextuplets.

ORKMOMMY........I am with you, can't get into Heroes,I think because of the comic book-like feel of it. Now I LOVE X-Men,but not this. Monday used to be one of my good viewing nights, but they have screwed around with it so much, that it's a wasteland to me now.I am a devoted 7th Heaven watcher, though I really thought last season was a good place to leave it. It's not the same without Simon,Ruthie and Matt.Lucy is about as bizarre as one could be to be a minister, and if they go through with the leaked plot to have Rev. Camden play "footsie" with the twins teacher while Annie is away,it may be the end for me!!Stupid storyline!!! Blech!!!

Then I watched "Six Feet Under" on Bravo. I had caught snippets of this(since don't have HBO)and it's fun to watch. What a dysfunctional family!!! Cannot get into Studio 60,for some reason, just don't like Matthew Perry,he was always my least favorite "Friend" too.

Can't stand the "Bachelor",not after the first season. What a joke that is,like they ever find
"true" love. Just a bunch of fortune hunters and wanna be's looking for some "face time". Love the commercial with the "Busto" who says her boobs are her secret weapons...yeah,Honey...that's right!!

So sorry to admit this Jackie, but once again I am taking a chance onlvoe with Bachelor rome..for one thing he is easy on the eyes, doesnt seem over in love with himself...but some of these girls are SCARY that they pick! I am dying for spoilers...do you know any? Ok, I loved hearing the Opera gal, but the one who really makes me sick is the one who calls him "Baby" after every other word...scary!!!

I'm reluctant and embarrassed to admit this, but yes, I watched The House of Carters! You can't change what you don't acknowledge! (H♥lly hangs her head in shame) I'm sorry, please don't hate on me, I'm weak, I promise to return to my 12 step Reality Junkie program next week. Although I have to say, those kids have more serious problems than my Reality show addiction.

I like the new show "The Class" and then "How I Met Your Mother". I then go to Heroes followed by Studio 60. I miss Medium at 10p though. Where did it go anyway?

Hey - is anyone watching Brothers and Sisters on Sundays? The youngest brother that has a drug problem is so familiar...but I just cannot place him. Can anyone help me out?

Anonymous said...

Holly -- What's The House of Carters? I've never heard of that one? What channel is it on?

Anonymous said...

H♥lly lifts her shameful head...

It's on the Carter kids, Nick (Backstreet Boys), Aaron (Wangster) and their three sisters. It premiered last night on the E! channel. Those kids are really messed up! More dysfunctional than the Osbournes!

ORKMOMMY and sharon...

I tried Heroes last week & couldn't get into it..
I read several posts on here that people liked it so...
I tried it again and I STILL can't get into it...
I thought it was just me, but at least I know I have company...

Is it that we've become such "Reality" junkies or what?!

I'm home sick with my little one today (she's got a fever...). Anyway, we're watching the Noggin version of Heroes, it's Wonder Pets. I can really get into this one! It's a guinea pig, a turtle, and a duckling (who can't say "R" correctly) and they fly around in their homemade boat saving animals. Currently they're saving a calf who got stuck in a tree during a twister (they're in Oklahoma). This is quality television I tell ya :)

Hi Jackie!

I have to say that I surprisingly love The Class, and even more now that I know that Ethan is played by Jason Ritter (John Ritter's son). Supernatural was one of my favs last season and the season premier did not disappoint. I miss Medium, haven't seen anything about when it's coming on this Fall. I loved Heroes, haven't watched the 2nd episode yet though, LOVE the Japanese guy, hilarious!! I thought it was going to be very much like 4400 and I couldn't have been more wrong. I love how international it is, maybe some will learn something about the world out there. Speaking of the world, did anyone watch the new Discovery Atlas series on Sunday night? It was WONDERFUL!! Plus it's in HD, which makes it even better. It was all about China and I believe the next one will be about Australia. It took the creators 5 years to make these films. Amazing!!

Hey Orkmommy! (and Holly, Petals, Terry in CA, Sue etc... It's good to be back in town and seeing your and all the familiar folks (and new ones) comments) I felt better when you said you could not get into Heroes. Me neither. There are too many shows coming out right now to pick up too many new ones. I am interested to see the Nine. And since I'm newly in Texas and my finacee is trying to turn me on to Football, I will watch Friday Night lights tongght... it is getting substantial reveiws. We shall see.

DLA- I am totally with you of the two you least like on the Bachelor. Yes, I have watched it every season (and for the record, three of the couples have stayed together -- Ryan and Trista of course, but I believe Mary and the Fly Fisherman are married by now... and the nurse moved to LA with Charlie and apparently are very happy together though unmarried). I can't believe he kept the girl who keeps calling him Baby -- like she's Austin-a Powers or something. Why not keep the other hot Italian woman over her??? The one he let go spoke far better english than the one he kept, but I guess that has it's allure, love being the international language.

And Holly! The Carters! I consider myself not at all below bottom feeding and I decided not to even check out that one lol! I love it that you did.

(I watched Flav and Brigitte Nielson, after Surreal Life, as well as both Flav of Loves with laser focus)

Any 6 ft under fans watching Dexter on Showtime?

I miss Sunday nights on HBO. Without 6 Ft, Sex/City, and Sopranos on (I tried but Big Love just didn't hold my attention) I am just waiting for Rome to come back. I have started to watch Nip Tuck and work on Rescue Me so of course I watch that every time. Both are great. IS FX taking over as must see TV or are the networks? I am missing Weeds and other shows I'm sure are great but there is only so much time....

I used to read. Oprah would box my ears. And I have a film degree and majored in all those heavy intellectual and independant art films. Now look at me! At least I make sure I now pick one of the shows and do stretches and then sit ups in front of the TIVO. !!!!! xxx

Anon at 12:19 - I have watched both episodes of Brothers and Sisters, but I can not help you with the actor's name. I am a HUGE Sally Field fan and never miss anything she is in. Such great performances!

I gave Studio 60 another chance but this is no West Wing. I think it has seen the last of me. Very disappointing Aaron Sorkin effort.

Type Brothers and Sisters in your search box...they show the cast there

Hey Sydney thanks for the shout out...glad you felt the saem way about the Bachelor girls..no spoiler sites yet though?
Its great to have You, Holly,lPetals,Orkmommy and Jackie to rely on....does anyone like NCIS like I do? what ever happened to Anbodybutjanelle?

Anonymous said...

Hi Sydney and Terry and all the Jackie die-hards!! We almost named my daughter Sydney! It was #1 on our baby name list, but when she was born it just didn't seem to fit her. Anybodybutjanelle has been busy with mid-terms. Hopefully we'll have him back in a few weeks!

I could never get into NCIS. First, I don't like Mark Harmon. Second, they used to call it Navy NCIS and that's redundant. I know it sounds wierd, but I can't watch a show with a redundant name :)

I'm watching Nip/Tuck right now. I was really into the show in the first season or two, then I got out of it. I'm right back into it now. Funny thing...it wasn't hard to pick up where I left off. I'm just glad I'm in the central time zone, I don't think I could stay up until 11:00 to watch my favorites!

Have you seen Jericho? It is pretty good. Check it out. Also, Friday Night Lights was good and rings pretty true to how things are on a football team in Texas!

Hi Jackie

The best 2 shows on tv right now
are greys anatomy and brothers
and sisters. Would love to get your opinion.

The amazing race continues to wow me especially the brothers.

having a real problem warming up to
the survivor crew this year, seems
the onlu one I like is Yul.

Thanks again for all your good work

I,too, kind of like "Brothers & Sisters". I always liked ALLY and like Calista and I,too, love Sally Field. Too bad they killed Tom Skerrit off,I really like him too.It looks interesting and like the family dynamics AND conflicts.
I HATE that DWTS and Gilmore Girls are on at the same time. Luckily, last night,it was timed pretty good that I could watch the damcers in between commercial breaks and got to see it all. And how mean was Luke to Lorilai!! He is really driving a big,ole wedge between them!!YIKES and we all know they ARE made for each other. I am glad Rory read her Mom the riot act over the "meaningless" sex with Christopher. I understand the writers are making that a storyline and pushing Luke and Lorilai away futher from each other. I miss the old writers!!!

Also,I fell asleep before the end of BOSTON LEGAL(darn those long commercial breaks at 10:30). Anybody see the ending???

Anonymous said...

I watch NCIS. I love it! I actually had to watch in three different rooms last night just so I could see the whole show. The things we do.....

Still totally into Heroes. The ending completely through me for a loop. I wasn't expecting that! As for Nikki's power, I read that she has 2 conciousness (sp?). And it said that she is not all good or all bad.

Anon @ 1:28 - Because I don't want one. Why don't you have a name assigned to your comments?

Jackie S. said...

Anon @ 8:49 - I've only caught part of Grey's Anatomy once and, though what I saw was okay, it didn't snag me. I know many who love the show, so I really ought to give it another chance. As for Brothers and Sisters, I haven't seen that at all.

SMH - I fear that we may indeed have become reality tv junkies. But, I know tonight's LOST will change that for me! Finally!

I'm watching it. He was on that show "Reunion" that got cancelled before they solved the crime. Does that ring a bell?
