How can the one guy keep missing out on being elemenate????

How in the heck is Chris going home and Sanjaya is still there? I do think that Chris has a problem with tempo, but he's got a good voice and he's fun to watch! Something is seriously wrong here!

It's the voting machine at Vote For The Worst, Howard Stern, and teenybopper girls keeping Sanjaya in.

that's what I was saying just a few minutes ago!! Sanjaya stinks!!! Chris was one I was really voting for!!! WHY

Sanjaya is probably the worst idol contestant ever...so sad that he is still there. I am really enjoying Blake ..he is so fresh and different and a great entertainer. I am getting tired of Lakisha everything sounds the same and we have heard it all before!

Sanjaya rules...I am thrilled he is staying. GO SANJAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phil said to Chris "You owe me 50 bucks"...no idea why

Sanjaya rules what?

Jack said...

i'm sure they made some side bet on who was going to get booted -- chris and phil are prob. both humble guys -- so each thought it would be them -- thus a 50 dollar bet ensued...

Chris smiled when he made the comment about the fifty bucks. It would seem they had made a personal bet as to which of them might be voted out tonight. Unfortuneately. looks like Chris won. Chris wasn't always consistant, though I ---- rella really liked him, but Sanjaya doesn't have 1/10th the talent that Chris S. has. I'm about to give up on this season and just hope that I'll hear later that Jordin has won.

Sanjaya rules AI...Isn't he the best singer and all. Or does he just have the best hair. I'll get back to you on that. I find it all to be silliness, but I was sad to see Chris go he brought an entertainment value to the show as does Sanjaya. As for the rest...same season different faces.

Hi Everybody --

Well, at least I got to sees Gwen perform tonight, but I really missed seeing her coach everyone the show before. I think that would have been so interesting to see. Oh well... Thanks for your report Jackie, at least I got a partial experience of it!

I couldn't watch much else of the show fro jsut what you guys are protesting. I just saw the bottom 3 (was not surprised to not see Sanjaya there, as this voting thing is on a roll with him) and assumed Chris would go, only due to jackie's report of last night. I wonder if this movement to vote for the worst as talented kids lose their chance will change the Idol voting rules for good, and that might improve this show.

... As well as a little therapy for the judges. I'm not longer entertained by it.

I really don't think Sanjaya will make it much further. Even with the "Vote for the Worst" votes, they still can't outnumber the voters that vote for the rest each week.

The people who voted for Stephanie last week had to vote for someone else this week, hence more votes for the others...the ones who voted for Chris this week will have to vote for someone else next week...again, more votes for someone else. Does that make sense?

I really believe Sanjaya's "fan base" will get smaller as the numbers dwindle...

I missed last night's show, but caught tonight on the west coast. I never thought Chris would make it to the finals, or be the American Idol for this season, but something is stinky in Denmark when Sanjaya stays and Chris goes home.

This whole "vote for the worst" campaign, and everything else out there that is skewing this season's results, is making a mockery of the entire process. And it is just plain not FAIR to those with talent.

I really do prefer the voting format from DWTS where 50% is the public vote, and 50% is judges' scores. Something like that could help hold down the "popularity contest" aspect.

And, to add insult to injury, it seems that Sanjaya may be getting a bit cocky!

Yikes!!

Here's to America getting it right next week!

I have a teory on why Sanjaya gets more votes besides the "vote for the worst" and the teeny-boppers. Last night I split my vote six ways for Melinda, Lakisha, Jordin, Blake, Phil and Gina. The Sanjaya voters most likely do not split their votes and he gets a consistent two hour block from his fans. I am too afraid to spend two hours on just one contestant because other good people may be sacrificed. If you look at past years, when some of the best went home way too soon. How can we combat this unless Idol changes the way we vote. I wish we could vote a limited amount of times or just for who we want off.

It is a shame for all the contestants to go home as they watch Sanjaya sit in the "Safe Zone" and know deep down that another deserves to be gone way before them. WAKE UP AI, it is time to change the voting process or you'll start losing many fans and true talent who won't want to try-out in fear of the Howard Stern Sheep that will make a mockery of their talent...

PLEASE SANJAYA, GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!

Why would they change the way the vote is handled??? Someone needs to pay Simon his $30 million and what better way then with text-voting. IT IS NOT FREE! AI gets a cut of each and every text-vote!

At 99 cents a call, if half the 30+ million votes is texting, that is a lot of moola each week.

LOST was awesome last night

i feel sorry for sanjaya, he's a very young 17, & i don't think he realizes what a farce this whole thing is, he is getting cocky, almost like he thinks he has all those fans out there, or maybe he thinks he is a good singer !! he doesn't realize his support is coming from adults who should know better, & the fact that he is the worst singer !!

But remember, if the people that got voted out before sanjaya, got voted out AFTER sanjaya, they would still be voted out !! it's not like sanjaya staying is booting them - if sanjaya was the first of the 12 voted out, the next 2 would have still been voted out by now

VFTW and Howard Stern fans are absolutely voting strictly for Sanjaya. I hear them call in to Stern all day long saying they voted for Sanjaya 50 times, 100 times, 200 times and more. This is why I think Sanjaya will be around for even a few more weeks, until the favorites get widdled down and the sincere fans votes aren't as spread out as they are now.

As for Chris Sligh, I was just saying yesterday I was over him. I really wasn't surprised he went. I'm almost beginning to be over Melinda & Lakisha. They sing basically the same types of songs week after week. Granted the are fantastic singers, but they are getting boring and predictable. Fantasia was a fantastic singer. Have i ran out and bought her CD or heard much from here? No. My favorites are Gina, Jordin and Blake. I don't think Gina can make it all the way but she was great this week. Blake and Jordin are consistantly good at mixing it up and not be predictable.

I don't know that Idol wants to fix it (the voting). Rumor is they are actually liking this. It's bringing in more viewers. People who don't normally watch & vote are watching and voting. Viewers from both sides of the fence are tuning in to see the results. Ratings are up.

They are not going to change the voting style as long as the voting itself generates $$. With vote for your favorite, people are likely to vote multiple times for multiple people because people often disagree on who's the best. If you voted to eliminate, people would be voting multiple times, but only for one person, because it's usually pretty easy to identify who is the worst. It would probably cut the quantity of votes (and thus income) dramatically.

Only hope to get rid of Sanjaya is that statistics will take over eventually. The Sanjaya fools are voting all their votes for him, but everyone else is splitting their votes between multiple people they like. I bet if you checked the votes, Sanjaya is actually close to the top vote getter...the people who are voting for him are very focused and on a mission. Everyone else has one or two or three favorites, and is splitting their vote and diluting the results.

Hopefully, as there are less and less "good" candidates to split the votes on, people will become more focused with their vote too, and Sanjaya will drift to the bottom.

Unfortunately, I'm afraid it's probably going to take him all the way into the top 3 or 4 before it happens.

Again, this is a "singing" contest and so GOOD singing should be rewarded, but the producers and the money grubbers have made it a "popularity" contest and as such we get "7 Ponies for Good Luck" still there instead of a person who can actually SING!! "7" may eventually evolve into a decent singer, but he's not there yet and to put him forth as America's Idol...what a farce!

If something isn't done about the voting and the ridiculous "pre-show",where hopefuls are subjected to humiliation and scorn, then I,for one,am done with this show. I am hoping it has just about run it's course anyway. I have enjoyed winners and shows in the past, but have NEVER bought any of their music. And most of you posters on here admit the same,so what does that say about the wide spread appeal??

So next week is Tony Bennett week, how lucky for Kiki and Melinda,as that's the only kind of music they sing every week. I,too,am liking Jordin and Blake the most, cause you never can predict what they may throw out there,AND they sing in pitch and know all the words...unlike somebody with "ponies" on his head.
Just GO AWAY,SANJAYA!!!

The judges sitting there are the ones who let Sanjaya get this far!!
They should have put him in the room that did not make it...

Sharon -- I have bought music from past Idol contestants...Chris Daughtry, Elliott Yamin, & Kelly Clarkson. The reason I bought music from these three is because I enjoy the type of music they produce. I loved Fantasia, Clay Aiken, & Taylor Hicks but don't enjoy the type of music they produce. I think most people are the same...they can enjoy somebody's voice but unless they enjoy the type of music they sing, why pay for the CD?

BTW...Elliott & Chris' CD's are absolutely fantastic!!

Anonymous 10:12...if you don't enjoy the show and think it is repetitious, there are a lot of choices for you besides AI. No one is twisting your arm...or making your watch "silliness."

Anonymous said...

I also have bought some of AI's winners and also rans CDs, Chris Daughtry's Kelly's and w even one of Clay's. This season is a bit frustrating with the Sanjaya thing and I'm still pulling for Jordin all the way, but whatever haopens, I'll be back next seaseon too.
