'Survivor 14: Fiji' - Ep. 7 -or- "Yow, Yau-Man!"

Nothing fluff about this episode, that's for sure!

Twelve are left. Who will be voted out tonight?

The show opened on Day 17 at the Ravu camp as Tribe Testosterone awaited the arrival of Lisi from Exile Island. Alex and Edgardo think she'll be loyal to them and all are worried about her state of mind because she seemed ready to quit went sent away.

Over at Moto, it's also a numbers game. Earl wants to change the power as it stands three Old Moto and three New Moto. What could tip the scale? The hidden Immunity Idol, of course. Both Yau-Man and Earl have clues to the location of the Idol in the camp and Yau-Man is all but positive he knows the exact location. They agree to work together. Earl led the others off to find the boat (yeah, right) as Yau-Man started digging.
Yau-Man Pets the Immunity Idol
And... he found it! It's a carved turtle on a string. He kissed it. He fondled it. He danced with it. he talked to it. Then he quickly covered the evidence of digging. In confessional, he said that Earl is an honorable and trusted man. He thought of not telling him, but feels Earl would be loyal. They would share the Idol. If one needs it, one has it. He told Earl on the sly and Earl seems to think Yau-Man's trustworthy, too.

The Reward Challenge consisted of three huge flammable targets for each tribe, thusly labeled even. Each tribe member would take a turn trying to sling a flameball-doohickey (technical term) from a scoop-thingie at the targets. (Aren't you glad to have a pro here to explain such things with the correct terminology?)

The reward itself would be a seaplane trip to a Fijian game arcade, complete with hot dogs and beer. The winning tribe would also send a member from the losing tribe to Exile Island. Tribe Testosterone Plus One, er... Ravu, won Reward and chose to send Earl to Exile Island. This would mark the first challenge of any type that Ravu has won. But, was it worth the win? We'll see!

So, there it was. Day 18 on Exile Island. Make that Earl's Island, tourists welcome and a beautiful ocean view. Yes, Earl was quite at home there as he imagined it to be his own place, even drawing "Earl's Island" quite artistically in the sand. He didn't bother to look for a clue, just relaxed and caught shellfish to eat.

Perhaps Ravu would have been better off if sent to Exile Island. Most were cramming two or more hot dogs in a roll and making pigs of themselves. Rocky annoyed them all by mocking their stomachaches later when they were sick. He wasn't sick because he didn't overdo the food. I guess he can think sometimes, eh?

Back at Moto, Boo thinks they need to step up the game and win the Immunity Challenge. After all, it's the first time he's lost any challenge. He automatically decides that if someone has to be voted off, it would have to be Yau-Man because he's the weakest on a physical level.

But Yau-Man certainly isn't weak on a thinking-ahead level. While the girls were sleeping and Boo otherwise occupied, Yau-Man made a fake Immunity Idol out of a coconut half. He painted a little face on it and tagged it I.I., for Immunity Idol. He wrapped it up and buried it where he had found the real one, but not as deep. I loved it! It could have ramifications if someone finds it and tries to use it at a Tribal Council. Now, that would be great!
Skull Breaking Immunity Challenge
The Immunity Challenge had tribe members blindfolded as one member was a caller directing them one at a time. The blindfolded tribe member had a Fijian war club which had to be used to break a hanging skull, sort of like a piñata. Not quite a piñata as it was a small and a skull, but the same concept.

Once the skull was broken, a bundle of tiles would fall out. The tribe member had to drop the bundle at a table, then return to his fellow members, all the while still blindfolded. This sort of challenge always makes for some good bruises as folks crash into things. It also makes for some lost souls. Boo doesn't know his left from his right? Eep! I hope it was only the stress of the moment.
Another Puzzle
They could switch callers and Lisi was switched out very quickly for Moto. Even though Michelle jumped right off the platform while bouncing about, she remained in there a long time. Then Boo decided to take over. He could have cost them the challenge as he first couldn't see, then froze. But, in the end, it was Moto hitting the puzzle-solving first and Moto laying out the two words for the puzzle -- Cannibal Isles. Moto has now won every Immunity Challenge so far this season, albeit with different tribe members in the mix.

Day 19 in Ravu reveals a fairly solid front against Rocky. Edgardo and Alex tend to call the shots for the tribe. They think that Lisi will be more loyal to them as she has no one else. And, no one really seems to trust Rocky at all. He's a loose cannon in the game.

Lisi decided to tell Alex and Edgardo the clues she knew for the hidden Immunity Idol and dug around. They didn't show her finding it, and I don't think she did. Remember how Dreamz was an enemy of Rocky? Well, now it seems that Dreamz may be the only one in camp that has a bit of understanding and empathy for the guy. Even Mookie, Rocky's buddy from the original Ravu, knows he's a problem child.
Dreamz
Alex, Edgardo, Lisi, and Dreamz decided that Rocky should go. Dreamz would actually prefer Lisi going, but seems to go along with the plan. But he told Mookie the plans when the rest didn't want him to know. They wanted Rocky and Mookie to think Lisi was the target.

Mookie understood the reasoning behind the Rocky vote, but told Dreamz that he promised Rocky he'd never vote for him. So he would vote a wild-card, meaningless vote. Mookie thought the physical bit (all strong guys) certainly wasn't winning, so it was time for another angle.

At the Tribal Council, it looked like Rocky was a bit worried, but still felt he was safe. He was certainly a lot more calm than he was at last week's Tribal Council. In the end, he was blindsided -- not as bad as some who never had an inkling they'd be voted off, but surprised.

The vote was unanimous with the exception of Rocky and Mookie's votes for Lisi. The closing scene during the credits showed him in some sort of Neanderthal scream, then he said how angry he was and they better not need his vote.

Yes, Rocky is the first member of the jury.

I'm glad he's gone and I even liked Lisi a bit better when she's surrounded by men. But the winner of the night for me was Yau-Man. What a hoot! I think he and Earl are a good alliance indeed.

I have to say I was cracking up at Yau-Man he was pretty over the top with that immunity idol. hehehe Glad to see Rocky go bye-bye even if we still have to listen to him at the end.

I agree, tonight was "The Yau-Man Show". He is such an entertaining little guy! I loved his reaction to finding the II and his mischevious making of the fake. Hope this doesn't come back to bite him when somebody tries to use it...LOL.

Loved it when MICHELLE fell off the tower,so intense was her concentration. When BOO got up there and acted as if he couldn't see,I was yelling at him on my TV..lol.I worry that old RAVU may be in big trouble by merge time. If new RAVU loses again,MOOKIE had better watch his back, cause it seems the ED-ALEX-LISI alliance is still up and running.

Also tonight watched CSI and it was excellent...well gory and disturbing, but very, very good. I actually almost jumped out of my skin a couple of times along with Sarah. Also loving OCTOBER ROAD,I am really getting sucked into this story, hope it continues for a while.

Jackie, sounds as if you are feeling better. Hope that flu bug has flown your coop for now!

QUESTION...

did you see those previews for next week, are those guys really going to "screw" Lisi over???

Yau - Man, Wow - Man!!

That fake II is one of the highlights of the season thus far!

Very creative, and what a hoot!

I would have been OK with either Rocky or Lisi leaving tonight, so...

It looks like next week could be interesting based on the previews!

And Sharon, I laughed out loud when Michelle fell from the tower! ;)

Pretty good show, all in all! I am now in rerun hell with Greys, and will then catch October Road. Sooo looking forward to some nights of ALL NEW episodes of my favorite TV!!

I keep forgetting to comment on Michelle falling, I about died from laughter she was so "into" the game. I do not get why the other guy took over for her though she was doing great but glad they won, I worried for bit when he took the reins. Hehehe

Love the Yau Man...did you notice how some tribe members were mocking and making fun of him as he was adjusting and moving his whatever they call it to throw the fire. They underestimate his intellect...the guy has a PhD from I think Stamford or some equally good school in physics and he probably was judging weight, estimated velocity, etc. At any rate, the little guy scored whereas big mouth Rocky once again did nothing in the competitions. He's all mouth and nasty to boot. How could he think his tribe would't be annoyed when they are sick, even through their own fault, when he kept ragging them. And he talks about social skills? He is the poster child for obtuse. Glad to see him gone...sorry he's on the jury as that means we have to hear his annoying whinny voice again.

purrbal -- Mmichele changed out becasue her voice could not carry anymore I think, and her teammate in the field couldn't hear her directions.

Let's not forget that Yau Man was one fo the few to get his fire ball in, and also, way back when no one could score a thing for that tribe challenge after challenge, he was the only one toscore a point... by pushing a female (Michelle or Stacy) off the muddy platform with those big pillows. He commented humbly then as well as last night, something about doing it against a little girl. He may not be all muscle but he has come through and contributed points in the challenges.

He became my favorite early on... when he showed spunk by hugging the first back from Exile and peeking in her purse for the idol as he did! That was the first clue. I'd love it if he won!

I can't believe we have to look at Rock'y face and watch his gallumphing walk in on the jury for the rest of the show. I was so glad to see him go. AUGH!

RE: Rocky on the jury -- we all know we will be wondering what he might say when the final night comes. We may be expecting him to be the most likely to go all SUE on the final two ("Rat and Snake" speech), but I don't know that he built up any ammo toward anyone who is left. He may surpirse us and keep his mouth shut. But boy, can you imagine having to live for the next few weeks with him as a jury member-- or a crew member for that reason? THERE's Motivation to get the immunity idol every time, more than a million dollars in my book!

DLA- I wrote you a reply about your ? on Dirt's finale on March 28th's what are you watching tonight, in case you don't go back that far to see it.

Oh, Yau-man, you naughty boy! A fake idol, now we've seen it all!! Love it!! I never would have thought he would come up with such a devious plan, he seemed so sweet. I wonder if anyone will find it and if they do and try to use it will Jeff rat him out? Seems like a Jeff kind of thing to do, always rippling the waters at tribal. Oh I can't wait for someone to find it!! You go,Yau-man,you bad,bad man!!

I don't know why boo thinks Yau-Man is the weak link on the team. Twice on challenges he has been the only one to score. I am not liking this Boo person. I am liking Yau-Man more and more.

Yau Man the Wow man..my hero..so glad he found the hidden immunity turtle..gave me some happy glee filled giggles.
Odd as it sounds (even to my own ears) I liked Lisi better with the guys, but I still dontlike her. Her attitude when Gary was ill...well she doent deserve a million thats all I will say on the subject....
I have to comment on Earl andhis very good art work...
Thanks again, Jackie, you da woman

Are we sure Rocky is on the jury? I don't recall hearing that. Jeff usually says "voted out and first member of our jury". Maybe in my glee that it was Rocky I didn't hear it.

Hey Sydney! I just went back to 3.28, and thanks so much for the Dirt update! I will reply to you there after I watch the finale rerun tonight at 11pm. :)

Terry in CA! I totally agree on the great art work from Earl! VERY impressive! And I have forgotten to mention it. It actually looked like he had a peaceful time on Exile.

Anon 1:07 pm! Unfortunately, Rocky is around for the jury. Ugh. How unbearable for all of us.

Anon 1:07 - my words exactly as they closed out the show -- usually Jeff makes a big deal out of that announcement before and after Tribal counsel... who knows what is up with that... Jackie, any tid bits on this?

If Rocky is on the Jury, that means the jury will have 10 people - doesn't make sense, or are they doing another 3 person finale? I really prefer a 2 person finale. So glad Rocky is gone, couldn't stand him another minute! If he is on the jury, at least he's not allowed to speak until the last episode, lol.

I agree that the old Ravu team will be in trouble once the merge happens. I'm sure the Moto group will reform really quickly. Dreamz needs to wake up.

You guys must have been screaming over the TV when you found out Rocky was voted off the island. Jeff did mention that Rocky is the first person on jury. There was no fanare or explanation from Jeff at all.

You go Yao-Man. You are my fav. I thought it was very clever that you made another immunity idol to replace the one you found.

I love this show.

I don't know how Rocky made it this far. He is crude and rude! I once again had something to do on a Thurs. night and forgot to tape it. I caught the last 5-10 mins. Thanks so much for the blog, Jackie. It catches me up!
