'American Idol 6' - Final Four Results Show - May 9 - East Coast Update

The show is starting here on the East Coast. Barry Gibb and Pink will perform. Ryan is unshaven.

As the show airs, I'll be updating this post with the happenings. So, please return here throughout the hour to talk about what's going on or to sneak a peek from the other time zones. You can get here easily by using the American Idol 6 category on the blog sidebar or just refreshing this entry.

The judges have been introduced, now they're recapping last night's performances.

The Farmers Market segment has a lot of LaKisha supporters. Ryan mentioned an hour to fill... they really should cut down the results show to a half-hour in my opinion.

They did a promo for the Idols tour this summer. Now Pink is singing "Who Knew?" Eh. I'm not a big Pink fan. I want to know who's going home, don't you?

The Ford video was to "You Really Got Me." It wasn't the most flattering look for LaKisha or Jordin. The Idol Challenge - Who went to Africa to support the Idol Gives Back cause -- Reuben, Carrie or Bo. Give me a break!

Ack. The audio screwed up as they started the four singing the BeeGee tribute medley. Not so hot so far.

Ryan is talking to the four finalists on the couch now. No announcements yet.

The top three will be returning to their hometowns for a publicity bit this week. The four saw a sneak peek of The Fantastic Four: The Silver Surfer. As a result, we're getting a sneak peek of the movie, too.

The four are talking about their families and childhood. It's odd... three of them are only children. Jordin is the only one with a sibling. The results (supposedly) will be...

... after the break.

RESULTS UPDATE: They refuse to line up. Ryan recapped the judges' comments on all of them. Jordin is safe.

Now they're looking for the "best undiscovered group" in America... The Band Show hopes to do for musician and groups what American Idol has done for individuals. Do you have the chops? (No, but if they're looking for an undiscovered blogger, I'm their woman.) It reeks a bit of Rock Star to me.

Barry Gibb is singing "To Love Somebody." Oh, he's so not the Barry Gibb I adored so many years back. But I like him better than Pink!

RESULTS UPDATE: Melinda Doolittle is safe. It's down to Blake or LaKisha going home. Simon thinks it will be LaKisha. And it is... Blake Lewis is safe.

LaKisha Jones is going home. (And I called that one last night!)

I'm sad! I loved Kiki from the start. Although, I woulda been sad if it had been Blake, Jordin or Melinda too. This part of the season is the worst because I usually like everyone in the top 4 or 5.

Well, I still like Melinda to win.

Don't want Jordan to win at all. I wouldn't be upset if Blake won, just surprised.

Melinda is my girl!!!

Thanks for welcoming me back everybody...now the school year is winding down, I have more time to hang out.

Yeah, I use to be anybodybutjanelle, but she seems to be out of the spotlight so I had to chose my next target......(who just happens to be blonde....or is she???)

Just say no to Hilliary..please...

I am glad that Jordin is safe, but it was sad to see Lakisha go. It gets harder each week to see them leave. You can see the closeness between them grow and we kind of feel like we know them so much better after all this time. Jackie, I still have all my BeeGees vinyls, too. I got my first one in 66, I think I was about 18. I thought Barry looked like Jesus Christ at the time; he has aged definitely, but so have I and I still think he's hunky in an elderly way. LOL!

Blake is an original and I'm glad he's safe for another week.

I wish the AI stylist would dress him better. The baggy pants are not flattering for him.

This part always confuses me...was Blake actually 2nd to last in votes, or were they announced randomly?

Anon @ 11:36 - I don't believe they mentioned if the results were in ranking order this week. Looking at the results, I think it could very well be by order of votes.

I'm rooting for Blake or Jordin. I would hate to see the AI people get their mitts on Melinda. She's fabulous; the recording industry will be knocking down her door once this is over, if they haven't already done so. Melinda has a great career ahead of her, whether she wins or not.

I agree with Anon 12:46am. But then Jordin will probably have them knocking down her door as well, she's also that good!

I also can't believe it, but I can finally agree with something "Anyonebut(Janelle)Hillary" has said. Welcome back to Jackie's blog.

My favorite is Jordin. I like Blake when he's singing, he has a fair voice, but that other stuff has to stop. Must be an age thing.

They have all three made it this far and they should be proud of themselves. Oh my gosh, I sound like Paula.

An hour is way too long. And the commercials and non-commercials are too much! Like Tuesday's show, it was so rushed at the end. Poor Kiki crying. I was reading her lips and she really didn't want to cry and then she was saying it was her time. Her first performance of the season blew me away. I think she'll do well on her own, maybe broadway? meb - so funny - paula statement. I laughed out loud.

I think at this point it should be down to the very best of the singers this season and it is! So it's very hard to see any of them voted off. I think they all could be stars in their own genre, but the judges look at it from a marketability standpoint(except for Paula, who knows what she means most of the time)!Simon and Randy, that's what they do and they must be very good at it,it's made them both very rich. So I'm thinking,on that basis, that it should be Blake or Jordin...and,of course,my pick is Jordin. There have been comments about her being so young and she can come back and try again, but her time is NOW and what's wrong with her getting this chance NOW. There are lots of teen phenoms out there and I think she would do well. I know I'd buy a CD by her if they don't turn her into a cookie cutter Idol. But I think any of them will find their niche, look at Carrie and Kelly and Clay and Fantasia.

This will be a very exciting end to this season, GO JORDIN!!!!

I was surprised, but glad, to see Blake in the bottom 2, I thought for sure he would get a big boost from Chris and Phil's voters. I really think Melinda and Jordin should be in the final two, with Melinda the winner. I love Jordin to death, but she needs a little more time before she can stand toe to toe with Melinda. Don't beat me up too badly, jmo.

Call me crazy, but I am not that impressed with Melinda. Jordin is great. It is more I don't care for their genre of music. I feel like such a teenie bopper saying I like Blake. I think he is original and has talent. I would buy his album - would not buy the other two. Sorry

Telling Blake not to beat box is ridiculous, its what he does..that would be like telling Melinda that she should do country or Jordin rock...doesn't mean you have to like what he does but for what it is he definately does it well. Melinda and Jordin have beautiful voices but they still bore me to death!!

Hi anybodybutjanelle/hillary. See you again during Jackie's great coverage of BB and look forward to your comments. Re the anybody but Hillary though...not to worry...she doesn't have a chance, but that being said did you look at all the lame candidates at the Republican debate last week? Ugh. We have about 20 people with their hat in the ring and not a real contender among them. (But I think Hillary, though unelectable, would probably make a good president, esp. with Bill to advise her.) Back to AI. Sorry to see Kiki go but it was her time..love Blake and he's a local boy for me, but he's next and the then it will be the fan base who decided whether it's the 17 year old phenom or the mature 29 year old backup singer looking for her big change. Frankly, I think they are both "golden" for future careers.

Will LaKisha have a career like Josh Gracin or Chris Doughtry (?sp) or will she sail off into oblivion like LayToya London, and to a lesser extent Tamyra Gray?

Received this video clip courtesy of the "Blaker Girls" on Myspace and it is an interview with last season's Chris Daughtry. He talks of how he is glad he did not win AI for artistic reasons and who he thinks is the best on AI... Hint: its Blake Lewis. He says he is an artist, but he wont win.Apparantly he knows the truth, that for some reason America is hypnotized by the fact that a 17yr can sing like others who have come before her...@@ Even though I will vote till the end for the talented Blake, I know that win or lose, he is gonna blow everyone else from this season out of the water because, like Daughtry he is an artist that knows himself and does not stray from that. Thats why he beatboxs(& I love it when he does), so zip it Randy, Blake beats cuz he knows his abilities and knows who he is... The girls are all cookie cutter images of other stars out there and bore the snot out of me...
