'Survivor 15: China' Website Live and Press Release

This season I'll be writing my Survivor 15: China show recap/reviews over on TV Squad. But I'll still be doing the East Coast Updates right here on this blog, linking the TV Squad reviews, as well as other miscellaneous show doings. I'll also be reviewing/recapping Kid Nation over there.

Today CBS released the cast news and updated the website. I've been working on editing photos and will be posting my takes on the cast (with photos!) over the next few days.

Here's the press release from CBS:

CBS today announced the 16 new castaways who will compete in SURVIVOR: CHINA when the 15th installment of the Emmy Award-winning series premieres Thursday, Sept. 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

SURVIVOR: CHINA will feature a cast of 16 Americans who will begin the series amid the bustle of downtown Shanghai before moving to HuangPu Mountain’s Mi Tuo Temple for a Buddhist ceremony where they will be instructed to leave all of their worldly possessions behind. The castaways will then be marooned with the clothes on their back at two separate islands on Zhelin Lake (translation: the Land of 1,000 Lakes) located in the Jiangxi Province. They will split into two tribes, Fei Long (translation: Flying Dragon) and Zhan Hu (translation: Fighting Tiger), and will each be given a copy of Sun Tzu's The Art of War for tribe motivation and assistance throughout the game.

SURVIVOR: CHINA will once again afford each tribe the opportunity to obtain a Hidden Immunity Idol which may save someone from elimination at a future Tribal Council. This time, two Hidden Immunity Idols will be in plain sight (one at each camp), although the castaways will not realize this at the start of the game. Each week, the winning tribe of the Reward Challenge will be allowed to kidnap someone from the losing tribe. The person who is kidnapped will receive a note from host Jeff Probst before departing for the enemy camp and will be instructed to give it to one member of the enemy tribe (the kidnapped victim will decide who receives it) in private. The clue will inform this person of the Hidden Immunity Idol located somewhere at their camp. This person must then decide if they wish to share the information with their tribe or keep it to themselves. The kidnapped victim will return to their original tribe at the following Immunity Challenge.

The website is located here.

Soooooo looking forward to the new season. Sounds like it will be another exciting one. BB8 has been a bit disappointing but it still may liven up. Anyway, one month to go. Thanks for the update, Jackie.

WOO HOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo!

We got so excited to see the commercial last night. When the ad showed it starts Sept 20th, my husband got all excited and said, "THAT"S TOMORROW NIGHT!"

I had to break the news that it's just August. I'm afraid he never watched reality shows before I came into his life, and now he's hooked like me on Survivor and TAR (though he watches the Bachelor and DWTS with me and this year is watching BB* -- not a great year for an introduction to it as a game).

In return, I watch football with him, which is HIS big love. I figure if I'm living in Texas I ought to know what it is to be a football fan. Looking forward to Heroes and Friday Night Lights as well. BUT, we have to get through approx. 39 more days in the BB house....

PS Jackie -- it'll be pretty cool to read your TV Squad articles on Survivor. Should be VERY popular!

Thanks for the link Jackie. I just read the bio's, seems like a very diverse group. Two things hit me as odd...Chicken is 47 but was married for 40 years before dumping his wife to raise his girls alone, gotta be a BIG typo. The other is Jean Robets favorite outdoor sport is running indoors...lol.
Should be a fun fall with you at the helm.

The copy of Sun Tzu is a nice touch. Should really be required reading (and more importantly required understanding) for any contestant in a reality show.

I love that the hidden idol's clue will go to someone from the winning team. I always thought it was strange that the losing team sent someone to Exile Island and they got the clue. It was almost like a reward for losing.

Can't wait! Congrats on getting the Survivor blogging at TV Squad Jackie. I wondered if your gig with them would end with Big Brother. They seem to appreciate you as much as we do! :-)
