'Big Brother 8' - Live Feeds Into the Dawn 9/11

As I post this, the houseguests are asleep. Zach turned in early, but the others made an attempt to stay up until the ShoToo show ended. Daniele, once again, had her feet (bare feet this time) all over the kitchen table as she talked to Dick a few hours ago.

Dick made a tuna salad and Daniele told him it reeked. Daniele ate a cut-up apple with peanut butter on it. They actually got along well although she said she didn't want him to go to Europe with her.

Daniele told the Internet that if you buy the feeds, only buy for the first few months as it gets boring. Yes!

Lots of talk about the wrap party and such earlier. Something is being built in the yard, but that's about all that's been going on.

Good Morning!
I'm still excited to see how this all plays out, and who the final 2 will be. Maybe tonight we'll see sequester? We can probably get a better feel about the jury once we do.
The old hand-on-the-key comp is usually the last of the three, right? My favorite was Daniele and Lisa in the pool with the rain pouring down, making deals.

Dick seems to be a chain smoker - whenever he is outside, he always has a cig - and when they go out, he has a cig ready & lights it as soon as he steps outside - i wonder how he handles it when they are on indoor lockdown ?? must be tough

RiseandShine said...

Barbwire...
I think Dick is a stress smoker, any feeling of stress is calmed with a smoke. I think it must be hard when they are in lockdown and the conversation gets heated or someone says something he thinks is stupid or it just goes on too long. He probably goes nutz inside his head with the "smoke now" message flashing around in there.
I get that flashing sign myself, and can get really antsy if I can't take care of it.

Anonymous said...

Poor Dick? I feel no sympathy. I will watch to see how he handles no smoking when he is trying to win a long term comp. I dont think he has the strength and will rely on Dani to take him along.

So, the fight will really only be between Zack and Dani for the endurance part, if he gets that far. Dick may do all right in the question, answer part, but certainly not something involving strength. He's not in shape.

I see him dropping first with the long term test, and Zack hanging in to do all three comps. ( If I have figured it right.)

The winner? Probably Dani, but she will choose her father to go to the final two.

Anxious to see how it plays out.

Carol,

The "tea comp" was a long term affair. If you recall, it was Zack, Dick, Dani and Eric. Dick and Zack smoked (no pun intended) Dani and Eric with Dick a close second to Zack in that comp.

I have to admit, going into it, I thought Dick was a goner. But he not only survived, he thrived.

Don't underestimate the Power of Evil. :)

Anonymous said...

Joe, you remember everything. And accurately, too. As you said, dont underestimate evil, or the fight of a father!

meb said...

Carol, only the losers of the first comp play in the 2nd comp. So hopefully Zack wins the endurance comp and then sits out the 2nd comp. Then he would be against one of the D's in comp three.

I hope it works that way... I hope, I hope, I hope! At least he'd have a 50/50 chance at that point to go to the F2.

Joe in NY said...

Carol,

You flatter me! (Which is a nice change after yesterday. :)

But I don't remember 1/2 of what goes on in that house nearly as well as most of this board. The only reason I even remember that comp is because I was so surprised that Dick was even close to Zack in that comp - I expected it to come down to Zack and Danielle with Eric 3rd. I couldn't imagine Dick having the aerobic capacity to hang in their for the hour+ it took for that comp, much less having the patience.

I actually think Zack is at the biggest disadvantage in a "holding on" comp. It seems the smaller, lighter people always do better in those, even if they aren't holding up their weight.

Anonymous said...

So...I was laying in bed last night thinking about the game (it was better than thinking about the other crap I have going on!) and I realized what my problem with Dick is. I really wanted to like him and I was cheering at the TV when he won that croquet POV. I also cheered when he won his first HOH!

Anyway, the problem I have is that he has NO sportsmanship! If he were playing football and acted the way he is, his team would get a penalty for poor sportsmanship. I know this is the BB house, but I just can't like a player who plays the way he does. It's really disappointing because I was really gunning for him in the beginning...

Joe in NY said...

I know everyone thinks that the final 3 could be anticlimactic, especially if Zack is eliminated. But I think the Final 2 will be interesting no matter who ends up in it.

Zack winning would create the most possibilities, although not necessarily the most drama. It also could be very uncomfortable if Dick goes on "campaign" for his daughter.

I think Dick beating Dani in the final 2 is my favorite possibility of all. You know how well she takes such things! Of course, for those who hate the Ds, the thought of watching Dick and Dani dance around and congratulate each other for the couple days before the finale is probably worse than the thought of reading one of my posts!

Just when I thought Danielle couldn't seem any more vain and self involved - she just said to Dick "You know what's weird...people are going to be talking about us forever..." and they call Amber delusional...

meb said...

Again I agree with you Orkmommy... He doesn't know what the word sportsmanship means. I too was routing for him for a short period, but he also messed that up with his behavior.

Joe in NY said...

Ork,

I kind of agree. I actually don't find his yelling/cursing particularly troubling - I've got high tolerance for such things, but I don't like some of the scowling or celebrating after comps. But I don't expect my TV pals to be perfect.

Danielle is already planning a European trip...and has told Dick she doesn't want him to join her...Wow...wish I could see Dani in Europe...she is in for a rude awakening...Europe is filled with foreigners speaking a different langage who have different customs and styles of eating...she will be so out of her element unless she finds a boyfriend to accompany her who has a bit of sophistication and knows what foreign travel is all about. I can just hear her..."this sucks, this sucks, this sucks" whenever the usual bumps of travel occur. I hope the hubris bug bites her in the ass vis a vis winning the big prize. At this point anybodybutdani.

Anonymous said...

She might be better off having dear old dad run interference for her on her first Euro trip...according to his blog after his marriage to Dani's mother ended he traveled extensively all over Europe...can you believe she's saying EVERYONE will always be talking about her and her dad. What an ego! By this time next year we'll barely remember them.

I'm with Orkmommy on Dick. I actually liked him at the beginning. After seeing his first outburst, I was willing to chalk it up to the stress of the situation, but then he proved that his behavior was a pattern and then I could not get behind him any longer or want to support him. I understand that everyone handles stress differently, however, he was the oldest in the house and behaved like a 2 year old having tantrums any time things didn't go his way.

He shows moments of being a really good guy with a heart, I will give him that, however, the things he has said to different hg's have been so vile that I can't find myself rooting for him. He could have made himself a very well loved participant on the show by showing some self-restraint, and since he's an adult, it shouldn't have been that hard. That's why I can't support him. He chose to act the way he acts. The horrible picking on the women in the house (when his own daughter was present as well) was very offensive to me. No man has ever spoken to me in that manner--EVER--and that other people have forgotten that or forgiven that is incomprehensible to me.

I just went back to the last post to find something and saw that Nancy in PA posted this morning. I can't remember agreeing with something more, so I thought I'd bring her comment over here...

so many of you are saying that dick is the only one who played the game......dick is the only one who played the game LOUDLY...but it doesn't mean he is the only one who played the game. there are as many ways to play as there are strategies...you can play quietly, between one or two people, you can play like zach did....in his own head alone. just because someone is quiet does not mean they are not playing....nor does it mean they rode on someone else's coat tails. quiet, and under the radar are also viable options for game strategy. so as far as dick deserving a win because he "played the game"....well, that is ludacris.

Way to state your point Nancy!!!

Anonymous said...

And the reason I went back to the last post was this...

I was perusing Dick's MySpace blog and something caught my eye...

"That is what I am and when I am inspired to do so, or to blow off some steam or to share something really cool. It is who I am and I have never pulled any punches in my life, especially with myself. I think it is part of being bipolar, but who gives a f#@k, it is me.... high highs and low lows."

This is a quote from his March 29, 2007 entry. Being bipolar explains A LOT about his behavior, but I want to know why he's not on meds. Maybe he is and they just never show him taking them, but if he is I think they need to up his dosage!! Additionally, if he's bipolar drinking alcohol just makes it much worse! He should know better!

Anonymous said...

And the very loud farting and spitting are not part of anybody's game...just bad personal hygiene habits...what a pig..no underwear is fine if you change your jeans daily, but he wipes his butt with his bathrobe...ugh and his daughter puts her bare feet on the kitchen counter where food is prepared. double ugh. These people are so gross. I too liked him at the beginning and overlooked all the childish "fake rocker" stuff, but after he went off on Jen and others he showed himself for the egocentric bully he is...

Anonymous said...

Well,Orkmommy and Britt,I am jumpimg on the train with you. Exactly my thoughts about dick.I thought,in the beginning......ah,a voice of reason in this house of twenty-somethings and then.....he started showing what he's made of.I'm in agreement with you,Britt,on the never had anyone speak to me the way he did to Jen,in particular. Here is a female, almost the same age as his daughter and he's calling her every vile, disgusting, backroom name he can come up with...AND...nobody in that house even tries to come to her defense!Dani never tells him to back off, just smiles her smirk and let's him go.THAT is why I want neither of them to win.

AND the fact that so many admire and cheer them on,well that's just disturbing on it's own.gameplay aside, that's just a matter of civility and human decency.

Anonymous said...

I'm really looking forward to seeing him interviewed once he's out of the house. I know Julie won't ask probing questions about his attitude, language, and general meanness but somebody like Jay Leno or David Letterman would! I want to see what his response is. I wonder if he realizes that America loves to hate him?

Joe in NY said...

To Sharon,

Actually, Dani has called off her Dad on a number of occasions.

To Ork,

I believe he is on medication, didn't it get mentioned at one time. Although I don't believe it was ever mentioned what that medication was for.

To everyone else,

I don't feel the need to like someone to believe they should win. I never liked Will, but I believed he should win. I don't particularly like Dick, still think he should win.

Whether you think Zack was "playing quietly" or "floating" or whatever, I don't think you can make a reasonable case that he played the game BETTER than the Ds. Zack survived and should get credit for that, but the entire course of the game was dictated by the Donatos.

You can say, without the need to justify it, that you like Zack better than the Ds and want him to win. But I think (IMHO, IMHO, IMVHO!) that it is unnecessary and unreasonable to claim he played better than the Ds.

I would also point out that if Dick is bipolar, it is more a reason to feel sorry for Dani and Dick. That is a horrible cross for anyone to bear and it does make it hard or impossible to control your emotions. It is also impossibly hard for a young child to understand why there parent is not like everyone else's.

Mental illness is poorly understood and poorly accepted in this country. Sometimes people don't understand the degree to which their own actions are preprogrammed and outside of their control. Love, hate, etc. are chemical responses. We tend to want to rationalize those responses, which is why we have these arguments about why we love/hate, when there is not necessarily a REASON. Feeling like we are in complete control of our behavior, it is impossible (IMHO) for us to believe that other people are not.

My sister is a psychiatric social worker. When she first started working she would take the patients out on field trips and sometimes bring my mom with her. The behavior of these people was incredibly erratic at times and nonsensical. My mother once turned to my sister when one of these patients was talking about having talked to Douglas McArthur in his room the night before and said, "You'd almost think he was kidding". My sister said, "Yeah, he's been fooling everyone for 30 years."

I've known manic/depressive people who would cycle. Their cycles were extreme and uncontrollable. Even medicated, they would reach tipping points in their behavior. In a manic phase, you could not convince the person to slow down, calm down, talk quietly. In a depressed phase, there was no way to even get them out of bed.

That said, I don't know if Dick is truly bipolar or just applying the term to himself as a way of explaining, in his own mind, his irrational behavior.

meb said...

First of all I'd hope Letterman or Leno would never ask him to come on the show, but if they did and he was told that "...America loved to hate him" you know his response would be gross. He doesn't care what he says to anyone/anywhere.

I know that younger people (and some older ones too) are used to his type of verbage, but those words are still foreign to my ear and I cringe when I hear them. I know...they're just words, but I still don't like to hear them. Its my age people, my family and friends never talked that way and I'm not ready to start now.

GO ZACK!

meb said...

Guess I'm looking at who I want to win, not who played the better game. I agree that the D's may have had a different strategy than Zack, but his was a strategy nonetheless. And regardless of why, he's in the final 3 and I hope he wins. Simple as that.

Joe in NY said...

meb,

Joe, it seems to me that the times Dani called her father off his nasty behavior were the times when she felt (in the game) that he was hurting HER game. It had nothing to do with her feeling badly about him saying those things to others. She was thinking how it was affecting HER, which pretty much characterizes Dani throughout this game (me centered). I understand that's the game, but as someone else mentioned, you can be working hard for yourself in a game and NOT be abusive to other people (especially young women). And we have also seen Dani encourage her father to start up with his shenanigans again when she felt she wasn't getting her way with her bikini flirt game or she was just supremely pissed off. She wouldn't do it herself, but she told her dad to go do it for her. I can't respect people who play like that.

I guess all the D&D lovers haven't logged on yet, but you guys are gonna be in trouble when they do - LOL. I can only add my agreement to all that has been said so far. I just can't overlook Dick's vile behavior and blame it all on "game play". A few weeks back I would have said that Dani deserved the win because of her domination in comps, but she has since shown her true colors too, what's the saying, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree". So while I won't go so far as to say I'll never watch again if one of them wins, I will chalk this up to one of the most disappointing and distasteful seasons ever.

Another thing about the Donatos that bothers me is that they agree that you cannot get through the game without lying, but they insist that they told only "little" lies. Now, see, I lose respect right there because who gets to judge what is a big lie and what is a little lie? The Donatos? Do they possess a special lie gauge that none of us possess? No, of course not, but they work overtime to drill it into your head that their lies have been somehow less than everyone else's and I'm calling bullshit on that. Just say you lied. Period, end of story. Don't qualify them to make sure you come out on top.

I would really hate to see Daniele win. She is so spoiled and rotten that I can't even chalk it up to her age. I was spoiled at 21 too. A husband, house and 3 kids has a wonderful way of humbling you.

However, I was in a serious relationship at that age (not said husband) and if I had gone on national t.v, there would have been no way I would have humiliated him. She did. He talked about her being his soul mate. When Dick and Daniele see that past shows, they won't feel bad for Kris, just call him an asshole. It's that kind of crappy behaviour I don't like...

I don't want Dick to win, because well, orkmommy, britt, rbennie, sharon and many, many others have said what I feel already.

I wish Jameka had won that damn PoV...

I have been watching BB for a while now and while this year was not as exiting as past years and having to watch ED spew his venom which i did not like, it still kept me coming back for each episode, but next year i really would like the show to be more diverse. There seems to always only be one minority maybe two. I also would like to see more HG over 40, hell even fifty. I think that with older HG that have had a lot more life experiences would make for a more interesting and strategic game.

Joe - There was a point a few weeks ago where he was getting bad headaches and heartburn. He kept asking for Advil and Tums, but I don't remember him talking about any other medication.

I myself have dealt with depression and been on meds off and on for several years. Fortunately I can control mine most of the time. If he truly is bipolar, I feel for him but he needs to get himself some help. I can't imagine any mental health professional telling anyone that being locked in the BB house for 3 months with strangers is good therapy!

Excellent point.

By the way, Board Hamsters, you forget that we live in a completely delusional age where everyone thinks they are special and important. Gotta piece of video that only you and your friends would enjoy - show it to the world! Got a long-winded trite opinion about a reality TV show - post it on a board! :)

P.S. I always find it interesting that people (no names!) complain about players they dislike because they are petty, dishonest, nasty, self-centered...and then they log on here and call people names, make up things, and yell that their opinion is all so important.

It is an irony-filled world!

Joe in NY said...

Ork,

I don't think it was Tums. I can't remember the exact comment or context, but Dick was saying something about his medicine. I remember wondering at the time what it was, but I didn't care that much. I remember some Board Hamsters were suggesting all kinds of nasty illnesses at the time.

I do agree that BB needs to show a lot more diversity. If they start with 12 houseguests, I don't think having at least 4 of them be minorities is asking too much. A few mature over 40s would be nice too. That house this year sure could have benefited from a good motherly or fatherly influence. Although the hamsters probably would have gotten rid of them post haste.

I can't believe it but I am rooting for Zach now. He may have floated earlier but he's really brought out his game in the last few weeks.

I think the final competitions often favor some people. The endurance comps where they have to stand on something small or hang or hold-on favor smaller people with low body weight. Some favor physically stronger players - remember the comp where Boogie and Janelle had to pull themselves around on a pole or something. Janelle mentioned that Mike had an advantage because he had more upper body strength.

rbennie - I think Kail was supposed to provide a maternal influence but what a disaster that was.

I'm looking forward to the next two BBs and hope Zach wins the next HoH!

I guess I will add that for people to imply that ED's fans somehow condone his treatment of other houseguests by rooting for him to win is a bunch of baloney. As everyone loves to repeat over and over again, "this is a game!" and I believe that some of us 'see' that, and separate the game-playing from the personalities of the players.

Now, some same old - same old from me. Dick has played this game better than the rest or he wouldn't still be there. I'm hoping he wins, even over Dani. I know a lot of you don't think so, but the man deserves the 500 thou.

None of you will change my mind about that anymore than I can change yours. We'll all find out soon enough.

What about the allegations of a coded letter to Dick from Vincent? Why is BB letting that slide (even if it was no help to him by the time he received it, it is still CHEATING) in my opinion. Why go into a game having a plan to cheat if you can get away with it? I can't admire anything about that. It shows he had intentions of cheating by getting information from the outside world.

I have also always wondered why when Dani received a letter from Nick, why they allowed the line from Nick that told Dani to TRUST ZACH. Again, that is clearly giving someone information from the outside world to the supposedly sequestered hg's.

I just wondered if anyone else thought that these two instances of getting information were unfair and against the rules of the game.

Everyone else,

If we all just remember that it is just a game, that we all have our reasons for cheering for whomever, we could all get along.

At the risk of repeating myself: all the characters are flawed. You don't need to make your favorite sound like the second coming of Christ to cheer for him/her.

You choose Zack, you want Zack to win. Fine. He doesn't have to be the better player or even the better person for you to feel that way.

You choose Dick, you want Dick to win. Fine. There doesn't need to be a reason.

You choose Dani, you want Dani to win. That's all that matters.

Reasons are just rationalizations for your assumptions and emotions.

Joe in NY said...

Britt,

CBS lets HGs get letters from outside. Show me the rule he broke - oh, wait, ya can't because the rule book is a big secret.

It's not even clear there was a code in it. Dick said there was supposed to be, but there wasn't one he could find - except that he didn't understand the term "suckster".

What competitive advantage did that letter give him?

You like Zack. FINE.

Cheer for Zack. FINE.

Why do you have to make it seem like everyone else is awful?

Dick is mean and nasty and I still think he deserves to win. Tell ya something else: Dick could have abused his daughter, cheated on his wife, sold drugs to children, and beaten his mother to death and he still deserves to win the game (IMHO) because he played better.

Zack is Jesus Christ incarnate. He still doesn't deserve the win. (IMHO)

But, hey, I don't need you to share the opinion - nor do I expect it.

D&D LOVER just logged on... :)Watch out!.... J/K!!!

EACH and every HG is guilty of vile words and saying things about other HG based on the little they know of eachother. I understand that a lot of people are turned off by someone who is loud about it, but it is really not different. I know what abuse is and his attacks have NEVER struck me as abusive and have actually entertained me. Some will think I'm possibly sick, but I am perfectly sane. I just think we as Americans try to be too politically correct and get too offended and are too quick to jump on the 'Lets Sue!' train. If the HG honestly felt as if his rants were attacks, they would have done something about it. But they are in a game and they know it is his strategy. I also think that 'Sportsmanship' is not something that any HG has in the BB house. They whine, b****, talk smack when they lose & someone they aren't aligned with wins. Once again, Dick is just more vocal about it. As for strategy I do think Dick is the best player in the game... Jessica had an oppurtunity to make a bold move and get rid of a Donato(twice) and both times never did... Zack had a golden oppurtunity to use the last veto and get rid of Daniele and didn't. Dick has always looked ahead and has made the BOLDEST moves when needed, and in my book that makes him one of the best BB players ever. Out of every HG, Dick is the only one I would invite into my home, because he is the only one who is true to himself.

Each HG THINKS they don't lie but has, so I cannot fault them for that...

Daniele's boyfriend or possibly ex boyfriend, dated Daniele and then they broke up & then he got engaged to another girl and left that girl for Daniele(so appears to look at realtionships the same as Dani), plus she has lately been supporting him... So needless to say, I won't be crying for him.

Joe in NY... Yes, the irony is thick in here... TOO FREAKIN TRUE!Lol!!!

I have to wonder if Dick is truly Bi-polar though. A lot of people say words such as shitzophrenic(sic) & bi-polar more freely in a way to own their own craziness (not clinical)... Then again he may be, and is taking meds. I didn't know Eric was on meds till they were packing his bags and mentioned something about making sure his meds were in there...

As usual these are opinions... :)

Just said " we got to get that bitch out of here". Why couldn't he just said we have got to get Jameka, or her out of here. It is hard to get past his vulgarity and the things he says to see his gameplay, which has been very good. He is proof that CBS should put more 40 plus HG on the show.

Jo in Nevada,

I would be perfectly happy if next season was just like this season. People always get so nostalgic for past seasons, and some (IMHO) were better. But I was thoroughly entertained this year (thanks to many of you).

Great Moments from BB8:

1. The Jen/Dani/Nick escapade from week 1.

2. The Amber train wreck - each and every week.

3. The Mike razzing of Dick in the POV comp which led to Mike's eviction.

4. The AMAZING SURPRISING STUPENDOUS DUSTIN OUSTER!

5. "I love you God, God bless you!" (I still laugh everytime I think of it.)

6. The iced tea on Jen's head.

7. The Jess/Eric DE.

8. The Jen/Dick fight with the cigarette destruction.

9. The 2nd Zack HOH.

10. The last Dani POV which will send Jameka home tonight.

It may not always have been pretty, but it was fun. (IMHO)

This season did have its moments, just like other seasons, i just wish next year that they are able to get more independent thinkers and alpha male(female) types in the house. To many time HG just went along without taking a stand (Nicks eviction) nobody stood up for him, even his girl. Could you imagine a house full of ED's without the vulgaraity.

I, too, have had 9/11 on my mind all day. I still remember sitting at the kitchen table, reading the morning paper with the TODAY SHOW on and hearing the first reports of the first plane hitting the Twin Towers and feeling terrible that some people died that way. Then hearing of the second plane and that sudden rush of realization that this was something very frightening, so much more than a plane crash. The emotions of that day will live with all of us for the rest of our lives. The fear, the almost overwhelming sadness that grabbed at everyone's hearts as those buildings fell is still a fresh memory for us all. So many lives lost. So many that are still dying from the effects of that horrible day. My prayers are also with those so affected by this horrible tragedy.

Yes, Donna in AL, I think you hit it right on the head, I can't get past Dick's "ickiness" (to use a childish word) to applaud his game play. It's actually not the times that he was obviously acting out strictly for strategy purposes that really bother me though. It's all the times he was mean, crude, abusive, and misogynistic for absolutely no reason whatsover that have turned me totally against the man.

I'll say it again, if people hate Dick as a person so much, and ya you do hate him as a person, why are you still watching the show???

Dick's behavior doesn't offend me. Some men speak like that. I set my standards in my marriage and in my everyday life very high. There are simply things you will not say to me. However those who he spoke the way he did in the house, and that was everyone-- chose to be talked to that way. You set the standard within yourself in the way you want to be treated. Instead of standing up to them and saying "Dick come on, I don't want to be talked to that way." They just sat there and took it, and didn't fight back.

Dick haters of the world: Have you forgotten how Eric spoke about people in the house, Amber's talk, Zach's talk about how many girls he would get after the show? There was some pretty raunchy talk.

Deanna I said it in another thread, I want that picture!

joe in ny... which post are you referring to when you write about people thinking zach (or whoever you are referring to) played "better" ? i am trying to find the post that "made the case" that some strategies were "better" than others.

meb said...

rbennie @ 12:00... yep! you were right. LOL

Joe, you're getting all riled up again. Did something Britt said upset you? :>)

GO ZACK! Don't care what his gameplay was or is... I WANT him to win. And up to this point, I could not point to one player and say "hope they win" until Zack. Not so much I want him to get the money...I just don't want the DD's to get the big prize. One of them is going to win the $50,000 no matter what happens here. That's enough.

Joe in NY said...

Meb, I back you 100% in your Zack Love. That's my point - everyone's entitled to their favorites. I just get tired of the rationalizations for their bias.

Britt didn't exactly rile me up, but she does say some caustic things about the HGs (well, mostly the Ds) and I just felt that was a bit inconsistent with her argument that the Ds are unworthy because they are mean. So, I finally pulled the text to expose the irony to the world!

Nancy in Pa - many people have suggested Zack's "hidden strategy" as well as the added difficulty of "playing alone" as a rational for believing he "deserves" to win. Other people are at least honest and admit they just like Zack. Any number of people have made the case (including myself) for why Dick and/or Dani played the game better (none today, but go back over posts of the last week - if you have the stomach!)

Joe in NY said...

to anon 2:55 - I have wholeheartedly supported your right to HATE anyone. Hate is emotional and requires no reason. As long as you are "hating on him", that's fine. If you would like to argue as to why everyone should hate him...well, then it's game on!

P.S. If you want to embrace your hatred, you are halfway to understanding Dick and embracing his hatred and self-loathing! ;)

I too used to be a Dick fan but enough is enough and I just couldn't take his ways anymore. And as for not knowing what a suckster was He used to post on Suckster when he almost made it onto season 5. So much for the integrity of the game. I don't like people who think it's all right for them to do something while berating others for doing the same thing.

I also used to be a Dani fan because she was good at comps and then, the whining started. It was almost as bad as Amber's tears but at least she didn't throw God into the mix. Plus I saw a clip of her on youtube wanting someone in America to buy her a car. Dick was upset about it, sneered, and said she was talking like Jen. Then Zack gently told her that maybe getting a new car was a goal she could set for herself. Z was being more of a father and a friend to Dani than her own. Now maybe that's just ED's parenting style but it speaks volumes about who he is. It also speaks volumes about Dani and Zack.

I ignored Z too until the magic bunny suit. He was so cute in that. i don't think I'll ever forget Bunny on a treadmill or bunny in a blazer. It still makes me laugh.

Because he made me laugh and because there was no one in that house to root for I chose to root for Z. I didn't do it because he had the best game. He didn't.

Can't wait till tonight. Gotta go to work though so I can't watch it. Have fun guys.

Joe, sorry Im not one of your favorites here, but let's remember that my comments are observations and saying that Dani uses a bikini flirt routine is not abusive language AT ALL. I have absolutely no idea why you would say I have been abusive in my language about the D's. Is it because I don't agree with you?

Whatever. I know what abusive/caustic language is and calling someone a bikini flirt is not abusive/caustic.

You pulled the texted to expose the irony? LMAO. That's rich. Go pick on someone else because I'm done addressing you. (which will now probably result in everyone jumping all over me for standing up for myself against Joe)

Kay,

I back you 100%. Zack actually amuses me also (although I'm not backing him for the win). I just wish we could all acknowledge (and MOST of us do) that it is just our own preference, not some obvious fact.

Not only can we argue about who played the game better, we could also argue about whether that should matter. (Why shouldn't the nicest person win? :)

Those arguments end up being pointless and fruitless because no one has arrived at a carefully reasoned, rational analysis of the season and picked a winner. We all just jumped in and "felt" that Dick played a better game and should win, or "felt" Dani won all those comps and she should win, or "felt" Zack was quiet, nice, and played good enough to win.

All true, all acceptable, all biased.

Love each other, people.

Joe in NY said...

Britt, my love, said:

And we have also seen Dani encourage her father to start up with his shenanigans again when she felt she wasn't getting her way with her bikini flirt game or she was just supremely pissed off. I must apologize - clearly you were COMPLIMENTING Dani (the lovely young woman) when you said that. Just because you aren't cursing doesn't make it nice.

"Abusive" does not mean vulgar. If I said "Dani is a woman of incredibly loose morals, no education, and questionable character", I think we could all agree that is character assassination and abusive, even if it is not vulgar.

I've always loved the way the British Parliament debates. They rip each other to shreds, all the while talking so politely that if you were listening to the tone rather than the words you'd swear they were complimenting each other.

I think Eric was on meds for allergies. He seemed to be allergic to EVERYTHING.

Let me set the record straight here for myself. I don't HATE any of the HG's. I can't HATE someone that I don't know. I dislike their behavior and I call Dick's out so often because he shows it more than the others. Not to mention that most of the conversations here are about Dick & Dani. I don't have any opinion of Jameka because she's pretty much been a non-entity for the whole game. Zach/Eric have said/did nasty things, but they were overshadowed by Dick. When I heard or saw Zach/Eric doing mean things, I commented on it.

So just for the record, I don't HATE anyone in the house. I just don't approve of their behaviors.

Game play is game play. Some are out there, some play quietly and have others do their dirty work, some stay under the radar until they need to be a force. No strategy is better than another IMO. I think Zach did stay under the radar and kissed a lot of ass, but it worked for him. We don't know what he was thinking as far as planning because he didn't verbalize it. Yes, Dick planned in advance but we also heard his plans because he shared them with Daniele. Jameka is the only one left who didn't seem to have a strategy. Unless giving up 5 HOH's was her strategy...appear weak so others won't target her. Who knows...

Oh, I was typing while you were. I did say Z was all alone playing and that I thought it was pretty good he was still there. I've also said that that the other HG's chose to ignore them and he let them as game play. I don't think he had the best game. I don't think any of them has a great game. I think all of them would be toast next to someone like Will even ED. Will would tear him a new one and not use one curse word and ED would just look at him confused and admiring, sorta like Hurricane Howie did last year.
you can say what you like about Will but the man has got style. Anyway back to Z. I do believe it was a great accomplishment that he's still there despite how people have treated him in that house. I do believe he had to play all by himself with no allies and no friends. I'm repeating but so what. He had a lone wolf strategy and yeah, he went to each HOH and kissed ass. What else was he gonna do. Be HOH put someone up and then, the next week, get evicted because he had no allies.

I really do have to go to work now. I'm gonna be late because of you people. GAWD

Orkmommy... I mostly agree with your 'gameplay' post. The only place I differ, is that I think Zack's lay low and attack at the end strategy was a good one, but if he is to go toe to toe with Dick's moves in the house, he should have used the POV on Dani last week. Dick & Daniele would have seen the oppurtunity and grabbed at it and Zack also should have realized that his HOH this week held no power and played D&D a little further all the while telling Jameka his plan and encouraging her to win POV for them. Zack is a good player, but I don't think he thinks far enough ahead, so therefore IMO is not the best player...

Joe - All I can say is sausage in a casing baby!!

Kay mentioned Howie and a light bulb went off above my head! That's where I've seen Dick's nasty ways before! I so wanted to like Howie in his season but I couldn't because of the way he talked about the other HG's. AND NO...I AM NOT COMPARING ED TO HOWIE! I'm just pointing out a similarity that I see.

I agree that Zach made a mistake in not using the Veto to get rid of Daniele. But then again, they all made mistakes. ED/Dani regret getting rid of Nick. I'm sure Jess/Eric regret trusting the Donatos. Mistakes happen, it's how you learn from them that counts!

I hope I am not repeating what someone else has already said. That happened to me a couple of times yesterday. I did say that if I found the 'coded note' comment I would print it. I always hesitate to speak of other sites while taking advantage of Jackie's hospitality, though. So, I'll let you all do your own search. Look on TVclubhouse, live feeds archives for Sept 7 posted at 5:06pm by "Max". There may be many other, even verbatim quotes, but that is the one I found in a hurry.

You will note that Dick appears to have been talking freely of the code, but the convo wasn't written as it was spoken, so I don't know the exact words he used.

As far as fair, I think there should be some kind of oxymoron in there somewhere...Fair BB. So, whatever works and however it goes seems like it is within the game plan. If a player can come in prepared and use seemingly illegal means and the other hgs don't vote them out..then they stay in the game. As was stated, we don't know the actual written down rules. Zach made a point of telling Jen he thought rules were important, so I do not know how he would feel about it. And, as also was stated here, an outside message from Nick might have kept Zach in the game.

There may have been 'codes' coming into the house for seasons. A hg could tell their Mom, send me my red quilt if I am doing okay and my blue one if I need to rethink my strategy. See how easy it could be?

I thought of two things when I heard of Dick and his 'coded letter'.

A. He must have watched Survivor and I wonder if he is a Jonny Fairplay fan. (I also wondered if Dick liked Rupert, but that doesn't fit with this post).
B. The letter didn't help him, even if he had received it sooner, since he didn't trust Eric, or the Js anyway.

It was "not thinking ahead" that makes him not the best player IMO.

OMG---MY HEADING IS SPINNING AND MY EYES ARE HURTING!!!! We need some excitement in the house so this board will settle down!! I may be a little long-winded because I haven't commented for a few days.
Although I have been reading the HUNDREDS of comments you all have been making!! I think I went into a depression after the POV comp. With that feeling of "why do the good guys always finish last?" I know Zach is still there(and I am rooting for him) but any way you cut it the D's are going home with money. Before I go any further what I am saying is from a PERSONAL LEVEL NOT STRATEGIC. I don't want the D's to win because I hate seeing poor behavior rewarded!! I relate it to professional athletes who are paid MILLIONS of dollars but have little regard to their personal behavior. When you put yourself out in the public eye expect to be judged! As with pros there are young people watching these shows and when they see that behavior win the message it sends is that it is OK.---NOW I know it is a parent's responsibility to monitor what their child watches but we all know that in many homes that doesn't happen.

As to a "bikini flirt"--if I could fit in a bikini(and look good) I would love that abuse!! Let's face the reason women wear them is to be looked at and have comments made. MANY young ladies wear bikinis and other revealing clothes for the purpose of distracting a man and getting what they want!! No different than a man walking around with no shirt on and his 6-pack out there for everyone to see he's referred to as a stud--and even you joe in ny--would like to be called a stud!!

There were so many other things I wanted to comment about but too much info---

On with the show--didn't I read that Dick said if he and Dani were in the final comp. that he would throw it right away so BB would have to scramble with extra air time??

I would like to see the F2 be Zach/Dick. I think they both would at least spend the money wisely, whereas Dani is too immature and would probably blow through it in a year(and still not pay her dad back)!!

I also believe most of the jury will be voting personally rather than strategically. They suffered too many personal attacks to forget that easily.

Everyone is critizing the Donato's ...you be locked up in a house with strangers with no outside contact..and just with who you have...and see how it feels

I don't agree on some on the ways the Donato's voice themselves but at least they are playing the game.

Zack is a quiet one and he let everyone do his dirty work for him
they say the quiet ones are the ones too watch out for..

If Dick did win it ...for once a middle aged person won BB...not like the past BB's.

OK Jokers...here is what I know for sure. Today I called CBS in NYC and asked for the complaint department. The woman I talked to registered my complaint about Dick's coded message- then I asked her if many people were calling. She said yesterday the phone lines were jammed and they had over 12,000 calls, and that the calls were pouring in again today.

I then called Allison Grodner Productions, talked with someone there, and was told Allison was at her office in Studio City. I called that phone number (1-818-655-5000 and ask for the office of Allison Grodner) and talked to her personal secretary. I told her I was just calling to express my concern about the coded letter Dick recieved, and was wondering if they planned on doing or considered doing anything. She, being the chatty person she was, told me that yes- they are planning on addressing it, and that Allison was in a meeting about the issue at this very moment.

For all you D/D supporters, don't bother slamming me. Prior to the beginning of the game, he conspired with an outside party to influence the outcome of the show- and that is just plain wrong in my opinion. Yeah, it's a game- but when $500,000 is at stake and ANYONE decides to cheat to win that person doesn't deserve it- whether the message helped him at this point in the game or not.

If the bikini fits.....wear it!

I LIKE ZACH and THAT is why I want him to win. There I said it and now I cannot be accused of false pretenses. I don't like D&d,not HATE them, and therefore do NOT want them to win. Simple as that. The time he spent in that bunny suit really did it for me! He was a "bunny flirt" and it stole my <3!

Part 1 of the final HOH tonight!! Yay,at last some drama and excitement in the house.Man,we are a chatty bunch today, considering nothing is going on in that house...lol.

If Dick did win it ...for once a middle aged person won BB...not like the past BB's.

That gave me a good giggle.
Dick, a middle aged man.
You tell him that. (I see iced tea heading your way)
Like all the rest of us middle aged viewers identify with him.(not)
That's funny...I never thought about him winning as a coup for our age group. Somehow, I don't think so. Now, if Chicken George had pulled it off.....

It may explain why Dick is so pissed off today after he has been practically giddy the last few days about their "guaranteeed win". He just walked into the bathroom where Jameka is doing her hair and Zach is sitting talking with her. Zach made a comment to Dick about wearing something with sleves and Dick went off on Zach, then asked Jameka Doesn't it feel uncomfortable having Zach hang around you after he didn't talk to you for months. He definitely seems very upset about something....

dknync - I'd take anything like that with a grain of salt. I doubt it has a lick of truth to it. (Not on YOUR part, but on the anonymous person who posted it at Jokers.)

Looks like the "coded letter" may be more of a problem for the Donatos then previously thought. Gotta wonder why they are making them all pack today.

PlaidChick said...

The coded letter has been circulating for a while now. If you think about the time of events, which I guess no one thought about-- if the letter was coded, Vincent was talking about Jessica, Jen, and/or Eric according to Dick-- All of whom were evicted before Dick got the letter Thursday night.

HOW is that cheating?

I guess they all cheated when they looked at the banner plane too.

RiseandShine said...

Who cares that much about a coded letter? Like it never occurred to any other player in BB history?Come on now. Allison's personal secretary? Right, that could happen.
Jackie explained the mysterious code word already.

If Zach can't pull it out it's going to be his own fault and we'll have to accept a Dani and Dick finale. That being said, I hope Dick would win...despite the fact that I think he's a PIG. I didn't think there was anyone worse than Mike Boogie but Dick is either a new high or low depending on your perspective. He will share with his daughter...she won't. In her mind...the win will be attributable to her superiority.

Jackie, thanks. I saw it on TVLand - where I went because someone here suggested reading something there. Sorry if I shouldn't have re-posted it here. Thanks again for all you do Jackie - you're the best!!

Jackie S. said...

DKNYNC - Posting it here for discussion isn't an issue -- it's fodder for discussion! I do kind of wish that phone number wasn't in it because I try to keep phone numbers off in case of errors, but it's the same phone number I saw when I saw it posted elsewhere, so :::shrug:::

Tonight will tell, but if I were a wagering woman, I'd say we're not going to see anything happen about it.

D&D are still on the block. The nomination ceremony still has not taken place so they have to pack since tonight is a live PoV ceremony followed by a live evivtion. Though it has been said, Jameka will be nominated and evicted, so she has to pack as well. Zach is packing and moving out of the HoH room.

No grassy knoll theory there

Jackie,
Should I remove the comment and the phone number - I didn't realize there was a phone number when I posted it

I can't believe I tried all morning to send a really long comment and it just would not go through. It's good to be plugged back into what's going on.

Jackie S. said...

DKNYNC - Nah, don't worry about it -- it's already over dozens of places, not just this blog.

AND PLAIDCARRIE -- Stop channeling me! Sheesh, I just wrote a post saying about the same thing while you wrote your comment.
Get out of my mind!
;-)

loneseven - Glad you made it back in. Not sure what happened. I certainly didn't block you.

PlaidChick,

Danielle said the DR told them they ALL have to pack. Now, I understand why Dick and Jameka would have to pack but why Zach, he's HOH and why Danielle, she holds the POV? No need to respond. I understand. I mean Danielle could pull a Marcellas, right?! I just didn't think the question was completely stupid and wasn't trying to suggest some conspiracy theory.

Oh yeah, and why do you suppose Dick is in such a foul mood today? Last night he couldn't wait for the competition to begin. Oh wait, no need to respond here either - Dick = Foul. LOL!

I'll be so glad to not have to hear "with that being said" until the next season.
Didn't really enjoy it this time around, just couldn't get behind anyone. I found that I didn't really like any of the houseguests.

Jackie S. said...

Anon 7:07 - I don't think it was just you, there's a tidal wave of theories over the packing. But, you listed the reasons. While we KNOW Daniele won't pull a Marcellas, ya never know. And Zach has to leave the HOH room, thus he has to pack. They might be closing a room, too. I don't think it's going to end up being anything huge. They have to have three going into the final HOH comp, can't do it with two.

Anon 7:09 - While the season had some memorable moments (like the look on Dustin's face when he was evicted), I had no clear-cut person to cheer on this year, even the ones I liked at times did incredibly stupid things so I could understand others "hating" them.

Joe in NY,
Good evening darlin'. I think I may disappoint you with this post but...I for one would love to be called a bikini flirt. Now let me tell you why,to be called one you have to wear one, unfortunately for me, in a past life I modeled for Paul Reuben! I would in this life too, if he were still alive! lol
Orkmommy, they DO make bikinis to fit everyone, I for one do not believe just because it fits you should wear it.
Gooooooo Dick, win it all!!!
XOXOXO Joe

I think Britt pointed out that Dick received the letter after it could have been useful for him if you read her post carefully.

She is questioning the fact that there was an intent to cheat. There was lots of talk by Dick about the integrity of the game when Jen went off slop and I suppose Britt's point was that Dick's integrity should be in question as well since he had planned in advance to have a coded message sent to him by his son.

I agree with her.

I realize this is highly unlikely but just suppose...Dick & Danielle are on the block, Danielle uses Veto on herself now it's Dick and Jameka. BB assigns Dick a penalty vote for the attempt to "cheat" by making prior arrangements to receive a coded message, Danielle votes for Jameka and Zach would have to break the tie! Now that would be fun to watch tonight! Of course BB would have to tell the hg in advance about Dick's penalty vote so we wouldn't get a Dustin face but still there would definitely be some fireworks in that goodbye.

Oh and I think the reason Dick is in a foul mood is because the show is live tonight and he can't make the speech he intended to make.
