'Big Brother 8' - Live Feeds - Saturday So Far 9/01

After their late-night meet-up with the Queen of Veto, Janelle, the houseguests' excitement has wound down some. Above, Eric schemes with Jameka (obviously not in the screen cap I took).

Here are the happenings from that Big Brother House of Teatotalers:
  • Evel Dick apparently flirted with Janelle during the POV comp. I think he's probably more happy about that than Janelle is.
  • Daniele is thrilled -- she says Janelle is her favorite and Janelle told her she likes her. Ain't that special?
  • Daniele and Dick spent a lot of time thinking about their options. Since Daniele has the veto, the power of the house is in their two votes.
  • If they send Jessica home, they think they'll lose jury votes. Daniele wants to go for a Jessica ouster and turn on Jessica and Eric. Dick thinks Jameka should go this week.
  • Zach is seriously considering sending Jessica home (he tells Dick). He is worried about an Eric reaction, though.
  • Dick thinks Jessica and Jameka are the biggest threats in the house due to their popularity with everyone.
  • Dick also thinks that Jessica is taking the nomination personally and would take going home more personally. Zach just shrugged and said, "She put me up."
  • Eric pushed Daniele for a Jameka eviction. I would guess that's the America's Player choice.
  • Eric is sore from both the HOH and POV comps.
  • The comp last night was a morphing houseguests face kind of comp. Those are always fun!
  • Jessica and Jameka said that Janelle hinted an America's Choice was coming up and that Daniele would be upset if Dick got it and she didn't.
  • Eric told Dick that their plan was coming together perfectly -- Jameka going home this week, Zach next to go. Dick didn't argue, but even if plans have changed, he's not going to tell Eric!
  • When Eric asked Dick if Zach was good with Jameka leaving, Dick told him that it didn't matter because it was out of his (Zach's) hands.
  • Eric thinks the Little Julie Chen Alliance is 100% to win HOH because Jameka will be gone and Zach won't be able to play because he's the current HOH.
  • Jameka still thinks there's a possibility that Daniele will use the veto to save one of them and Dick will be put on the block. (Wait ... look up in the sky! Is that a pig flying over Hoboken?)
  • Jameka also thinks it's unfair that Daniele got a letter from Nick and Zach is so pro-Nick that it makes him blind to anything Daniele does.
That's all for now. It's kind of a letdown after about 48 hours of excitement!

When did Dani get this letter? Was it part of winning POV or was BB giving her some sort of special treatment? Does anyone know what it said?

Jackie S. said...

No -- remember the HOH "letter" scrapbooking thing she got? That's what Jameka's complaining about now.

If Dani was smart, this is what she would do...

Step 1: Dani needs a partner to play the game with. She doesn't care who it is, so why not Zach? She could convince Zach that her dad will go after him next week, so she should use the Veto to save Jess and have Zach put ED up.

Step 2: Dani goes to Eric/Jess and tells them that ED is planning on flipping on them next week. She would like to use the Veto to save Jess because of their alliance but she doesn't know how Zach feels about putting ED up in her place. She asks Eric to talk to him about ED going after him next week.

Step 3: She goes to her dad and tells him the plan to save Jess so they can keep the alliance in tact. She explains that she knows he will go up in her place, but her/Eric/Jess will all vote for Jameka so he's safe. It earns them brownie points for sticking with their alliance and proves that ED is loyal and willing to make himself a pawn to save the alliance.

When the vote happens, Eric/Jess vote for ED and Dani votes for Jameka. ED is out and Dani hasn't gotten her hands dirty. Zach is a better partner for her because he'll do whatever she says and ED was too volatile.

Now, is Dani smart enough to know this? A) probably not & B) I hope not!

I think that Jani should have not been allowed to speak with the HG's. And if she did indeed hint that an American Choice was coming up, she was completely out of line. I have also been a Jani fan but am not happy with her right now.

Anonymous said...

I don't want either D or D to get America's Choice but they probably will. I do hope it's ED over Dani. She's such a whiner or as someone called her earlier Whinelle...LOL.

Deanna said...

Why is hinting at Americas Choice not a good thing? All the HG's know it will eventually happen, it is no big surprise. They probably told Janelle to say it anyway to stir the convos's in the house towards talk of it...

Jameka needs to really let this letter from Nick go. I can't believe she is still harping on it. Before it had a hidden code to Daniele and now it has somehow swayed Zack in his thinking... Does she not think BB would have heard D & N talking codes & would know what to look for? Duh! And Zack feeling a bond to Nick's "girl" is only natural, since Nick was the only one who treated him good when the whole house was treating Zack like crap.Plus D&D & Zack leaned on eachother when everyone else was itching to get them out. Jameka just needs to remember that it is all preordained and thats that!!! lol!!!

Jackie,

Jameka can't be the AP choice because America hasn't voted yet on who to get evicted, just who Eric should get HOH to put up.

By the way, is anyone else bothered by the fact that every single week, all the HGs have someone working against them EXCEPT Eric. He's the only one America can't vote to get evicted. I hope who ever EPed this season is never allowed near a reality show again.

Hi Orkmommy,

I think it would be a mistake for Dani to backdoor her father. Zack really isn't all that reliable, he sucks up to every HOH, he wouldn't be as solid as her father.

ED already showed that he was willing to go home to save Dani. Is Zack or anyone else going to do that? Not a chance.

No one in the history of BB has had as solid a partner as Dani had in ED.

She's also got to believe that ED makes a better final 2 partner than Zack:
1) everyone hates ED and she wins, or
2) ED wins and he shares the money with her.

Anonymous said...

P.S. Where's my blogmance?

Teri...oh, Teri....

Lucy said...

Joe, I agree that Dani has a solid alliance with her father. She would be crazy to back door him now. As it stands, Dani is a shoe-in to win against her father or Dick. Her best bet is to leave the nominations as they are and vote Jameka out. Jameka has more friends on the jury right now and as the game gets closer to the end the remaining houseguests will be making enemies of each other.

If Dani wants a sure win then she should be in the final two with her father or Eric - anyone else and it could go either way.

Lucy said...

Oops..I meant to say win against her father or ERIC...my bad.

Anonymous said...

Joe - I don't think she would be happy taking second place to her dad. I think she's an all or nothing kinda gal in this situation. She's already hinted that she'd like to get him out of the house. Past seasons have proven that no matter how much a player is disliked, if they played the game the best they will win. I really think Dick would win if he makes it to the final 2. The HG's on the jury may be a very "personal" group, but I think they would vote for the best player. And Dani getting her dad evicted would make her the best player!

Nana in the NW, and Joy-- thanks for saying my comment about no one ever reading the fine print anymore in the previous comments was funny because it was meant to be funny AND sarcastic. Sheesh :)

People really do get their under-roos in a wad around here don't they!

Jameka has caught the delusional virus. AND THAT'S THAT!!

Sydney said...

Just curious -- based on what orkmommy just said, do you guys think that the jury might think MORE of dani as a game player if she ousted her dad, or less?

I mean it ouwld take balls to oust him and he is the one they jury has all hated most. Yet unless they all truly believed that little crying show she put on for them in the HOH room a ways back (don't judge me by what my Daaaaad does) would it just serve to make them feel she's just a horrible, spoiled brat and hence undeserving? Please a few of you give your opinion on this. I'm interested to know. ;-D

Hey, guys! I've stayed away from reading any comments here except Jackie's lately because I feel a little depressed about the crew here this year... even more depressed about the actual BB House crew... and that's sad. Jackie keeps telling people to mellow it out, and it keeps getting weird....oh, well.

BUT "with that said" I wanted to answer Sydney's inquiry: HELL, YES! Dani should make some serious BB history, use the veto, have Zach take Jess off the block and have Zach backdoor Dick. BUT, he could always then put Dani up, ala Marcellus (biggest mistake in BB history.) What a quandry!!

One bad thing about the "back-dooring Dick plan" is that being next to Dick in the final two would probably be a GREAT thing and guarantee a win for any of the folks left. All the jury house people totally hate Dick now and would vote for anyine but him now.

Being next to Jameka would be dangerous because she is pretty loved, Jess is somewhat loved. I wouldn't mind seeing Jessica win. This is the time it gets VERRRY interesting!!

Thanks again, Jackie for your level-headed attitude, responsible writing, and awesome sense of humor. For those of us who have enjoyed you for years and simply come here for some hardy laughs after a long work day, I say a hardy BOOYAH!!!

Much love and a safe holiday, your Big Fan from way back, Robin in Manchester

Hi all!
I went back to the last go-round and found my messages from Joe and Orkmommy. Thanks.
I didn't realize it was 2 evictions in the hour...cool, very cool. I wish it would hurry up and get here. This is the point in the season where I get very itchy, knowing what's going to happen before it airs, and having to wait for the next step.

Joe, your insight is appreciated.
I can't understand what Zach is thinking then. I don't think he is anywhere near as far along thinking strategy as we would like. He could actually blow it completely and be off to sequester, never knowing what he had in his hand.
It's not that I want Zach to win or am a Zach fan. I like the game part of this the best, and can't stand to see someone not play.

I've had enough Jameka now, thanks.
That "I don't know how this happened" sums it up. She's not paying attention or can't figure it out, I don't know which it is.
How could she possibly think ED is going up this week?
Ok, sorry, I don't mean to be too harsh on her, but geezzz...come on now.

Anonymous said...

Dick is the one person that Dani knows for sure will never nominate her for elimination, why in the world should she try to get him evicted? and then she would have to trust any of the other hg. Makes no sense to me.
Also robin, if dani uses veto, she can not be nominated. Marcel gave it away when he was already nominated.

Anonymous said...

I'd be really amazed if Daniele used the veto to bring about Dick's ouster. He is her FATHER. No matter what issues they have, blood is thicker than water; it would be remarkable if she caused him to be evicted, even if indirectly. And Joe is right--he's by far her strongest ally, the only one she can really trust.

At the end of the day, he's still her dad. With Dick in the house, she knows she's not alone. Although she'd probably try to hide it, I imagine she'd be upset if he were gone.

Anonymous said...

I agree Dani is an all or nothing kind of girl.

If she backdoors ED then, she will go down as one of the best players in this game I think. As an added bonus she would have someone for certain who would vote for her on the jury as well as someone who could advocate for her in the SH. On the downside, she would most likely not win against anyone else but Dick except Eric or possibly floater Zack. Definitely not Jam or Jess though. Plus would he ever forgive her or let her forget it? And would she really care?

If she keeps ED and he's sitting beside her in the F2, she might not even win then. They might just chose ED as the best player and then she would have to go to him to ask for some of the money and I don't think she would like that at all.

I'm not even sure she is trying to backdoor ED for real. Maybe she's just playing Zack to see if they can trust him. It would be something ED would think of. You know she would tell ED that Z tried to screw him over if that would be to her benefit.

I don't know. I can't wait to find out though.

PS. I have the flu and I'm on meds so my logic is all wonky.

wow, I have to say that I've just gained a little respect for Eric. Jameka told him that they should tell Zach all the things Dick & Dani have said behind his back, and Eric said "We've ALL talked trash behind his back" and then he left the room. LOL
Eric has a very good point. So many people are downing Dani for "sucking up" to Zach now. But Nick, Dani & Dick have always talked to him. Yes they may have downed him behind his back, but they at least had the decency not to totally ignore him. The others have trashed him behind his back, but also tried to avoid him at all costs. Jessica has stayed in bed through so much of the game to ignore the others, especially Zach.

And thanks to folks who gave their opinon on the dani ousting Dick thing. It'd be a move that had us all off the couch for sure, but I still wonder if the jury would admire that or if it would work against her with them.

Zoetawny said...

Everyone here has put forth some interesting strategies but this group is as unpredictable as that flying pig Jackie thought she saw.
You OK over there, Jackie? LOL

Sydney...good question. I don't think Dani going against her father will gain her any respect from the jury. I don't think any of them are such hard nose game players that they would respect such a bold move.

It still looks like it's going to be D&D and E&J in the final 4. Zack has never bonded that strongly with any of the two remaining alliances so they won't
hesitate ousting him. It would really shake things up if Jessica did get evicted but I don't think Eric will let that happen, if he can help it. Evicting Jameka then Zack is the easy way to go but maybe not the smartest. It seems like the two alliances are
remaining strong. I don't think Dani can convince ED and others to vote out Jessica. Wouldn't it be ironic if the vote is for AP to evict Jessica? At this point Zack and ED are thinking more about the jury votes and how their decisions now will affect the jury, as they should.

It will be an interesting week ahead.

Have a good weekend!

Yes, Willie is my dog's name. You can see his pictures on my website (www.chemgod.com)

As for gameplay, I really can't decide how the jury might consider a Dani backdoor of ED. I don't think it would matter because she'd be hopelessly outnumbered in the final 5: Jess, Jameeka and Eric against her and (maybe) Zack. We all know how prone Zack is to suck up to whomever's HOH - he even suggested an ED backdoor to Jess only last week which ED knows and, I would assume, Dani knows.

But assuming she backdoored ED and still made the finals, I would think that it might help her with the jury. Dani has been a whiny little warrior, but a warrior nonetheless. The biggest knock the jury could have on her is that she was riding ED's coattails. Backdooring him and still making the finals would eliminate that objection.

Personally, I would think far less of her if she did it. She 153 Nick but she still voted him out (putting game above her heart), and then spent the next month whining about how she didn't want to do it. She whines about her Dad, but I didn't see her refuse his gift of Veto when she needed it.

Dick can be an ass. And I say that even though his cursing doesn't bother me. He just seems to be over the top sometimes (and I think some if not most of his yelling has been game play - notice how laid back he's been since the miracle Dustin ouster). But that said, he also seems to be a Dad who's genuinely struggling to establish a relationship with his now adult (barely) daughter.

His offer to crush her vitamins if they were too big was just such a Mom/Dad thing - much as it annoys the petulant little brat. I'll never forget the tears dripping from his nose as he told her that no matter what happens, she can't cut him out of her life again because he loves her and it hurt him so much to not be able to talk to her.

He proved that he'd take a bullet for her. If she turns around and sacrifices him to the game. Well...to use Jackie's own words from her little tantrum before the Dustin ouster: "This is my life, inside or outside the house. He's my Dad, I'm soooo proud!" It is her life, inside and outside the house, and unlike Nick (showmance?) ED will be her Dad forever. He takes a bullet for you and you throw him under a bus...no matter what the jury thinks, I can't respect that.

Joe in NY

Anonymous said...

Hey Sydney... I don't think it would make any difference to the jury... Dick would be on the jury at that point and would probably be campaigning for her even tho she got him evicted.

I do, however, agree with Joe in NY (of course) that I personally would not respect her for it.

And again, why oust him if you can go to the end with him and then split ALL the money. I'm even getting to the point of not minding if they win...and win it all. If they manage to get to the final 2, they deserve it. (This from a "down with D&D" commenter from the beginning).

Anonymous said...

Hey Meb,

I never really liked D&D myself. I did find ED to be the only amusement in the house early on, but I can't say as I ever liked him. And, despite the fact that I'm a single man, Dani still annoys me to no end.

That said, I kind of agree. It would be interesting if they made it to the final 2. I'd especially be curious to see if Dick follows through and falls on a sword once again, asking for Dani to win.

I would also like to see what Dani would do if Dick won. Would she embrace him, look annoyed.

Love 'em, hate 'em or totally indifferent to 'em, the only real amusement this season has been (in no particular order): Amber (train wreck TV), Jen (oddball TV), D&D (family dramedy)

I would throw Eric (annoying TV) in there, except I can't really credit him with doing anything other than being AP. We would have seen much less of Eric if it weren't for his assignments.

The rest of them have been such total pablum, you could have put anyone from this board in there and gotten a more entertaining performance.

And, the competitions... Haven't about 3 people won them all?!?!? (slight exaggeration)

Anonymous said...

Steff said "PS: Joe I loved dogs, I'll pet your Willie, while you play BB."

ROFLMAO!!! Yes, my mind is in the gutter!! And I thought this was a family place!!

Robin - Glad to see you back! I agree about it being weird here. Last year it was such a happy place without all the constant slamming of each other. I just wanna make a few cyber friends and talk smack about the HG's.

Terry in CA - What happened with your mom? Did I miss something? Glad she's okay!

Joe - I don't think for a minute that Dani would hesitate to throw her dad under a bus if given the chance. When you called her a "petulant little brat" I think you summed her up in the perfect words.

I do think that ED would respect her game play if she did get him evicted. He respects game play and it would be the biggest play in the game! I believe Zach would play extremely hard for her because of the Nick thing. And yes, she hasn't been as mean to him as the others, but until this week she's really had no use for him. She's trash talked him as bad as the others. I think she only put up with him because Nick liked him and now it's paying off for her. Zach once called Carol his "lap dog", well now Zach is Daniele's!

Here's another fun game as we contemplate closing strategies: What is the single worst strategic move in the game so far? (a few suggestions - in no particular order)

1) Mike antagonizing Dick when Kail was the target.
2) Dustin requesting to be a pawn.
3) Jameeka sacrificing HOH for 5 weeks in order to save someone other than herself.
4) Add your own...

Anonymous said...

And, if I could pose but one more suggested topic before I go take a shower... [Steff, I'll be naked and steamy and wet...]

Was Jameeka's sacrifice of HOH comps for 5 weeks a bad move or a good move?

If she goes home this week, it would seem that she had no control over her destiny for the last month. BUT, she has not been a target for the last month either because she was deemed powerless.

And, Dr. Will himself, incorporated impotence into his strategy by never trying to win anything (except prizes).

Anonymous said...

Joe - Just checked out the pics of Willie. For some reason (probably his name) I thought he was a little dog like a Shih Tzu or a Bichon or something. He's freakin huge!!! Oh, and I love that he has a pet cat!

Anonymous said...

Orkmommy,

I agree with you completely (mind in the gutter, or not!)

I would also add that Dick has been the closest thing Zack has had to a friend in the house this summer since Nick left, even if he has made some comments behind his back.

And, I know Dick-haters will scream at this, I really think Dick has been the most loyal person in the house. The only exception might have been Nick, but Eric is the one who really talked him into it (while covering for his own AP votes).

Dick took a bullet for Dani. Dick has been true to the Zack deal. Dick has been true to E/J since that deal. And Dick even left Jen alone when he promised, right up until the cigarette fiasco.

The only mutiny by Dick was to the LNC (remember them?), but even that was an attempt to punish someone (Eric) for Eric's lying/deception with regard to Nick.

I've gained a grudging respect for Dick. Now if only he could tone down his foul mouth a bit...

Orkmommy,

Willie was a little dog - when I got him.

I was going to call him "Wallace" as an adult, but started calling him "Little Willie" when he was a 12 pound puff of fur. Name stuck even as he kept growing.

I still call him "Little Willie", even though (as you saw) he is nearly my height (6'1") when standing and 130 pounds!

Jackie S. said...

Joe - Your dog and his pet cat (name, please ... my cat wants to know!) are really great!

As for worst strategic move? I think I'll go for pre-show casting's move to put Amber in the house. How could they not have seen that she clearly wasn't stable enough?

Jackie,

The cat's name is "Oliver". Love the blog and the Board.

I don't know about the whole Amber thing. I'm rather surprised she passed the psych screening. I would think CBS would worry about liability if she goes off the deep end.

Anonymous said...

I will be very surprised if Daniele isn't in F2, probably sitting along side her dad. I say probably because he might decide to take a dive to get her up a rung. He has done it before and speaks of it as he narrates his resume. (see Senior house rules for redundant story telling.

I am curious about this board's thoughts on team playing in the BB House.
a. Boogie and Will came into the house as a team. They told everyone from the start and it was obvious they helped each other out at every opportunity. From gossip on the net, it sounds like Boogie spent the time between Will's win and his, whining about Will's superplay and his too early eviction. Will was ready to help his friend win. Even Dick mentioned that Boogie only got on the show because Will wouldn't come without him (ShowTwo episode)
b. Dick and Daniele. While they supposedly entered alienated from each other, they quickly 'made up'. Or were both such student's of the game they realized the Power of Two. Dick has made it clear in his play, he will do anything to make up to Daniele for any years/opportunities he has missed in her life. Like Boogie, she is pleased to accept any gifts.

Both these teams, imo, were sent into the house to play together against the others. The themes, pre game, were geared each year around the favored teams.

What do people here think? Does it make a difference to the game, if BB did set it up? Is it more interesting to watch as two people tag team the rest in the house? Is it just 'good tv'? I'm not asking if it breaks the 'integrity of the game' or is 'fair'. I just wonder if it is the only way to win the game and ratings? Would Daniele have survived her week on the block, if Dick hadn't used the Veto? Didn't Boogie have something similar early in the game, where Will saved him?

So, the question is, do we care? is it just fun to watch people in the house and we don't care how the cards are stacked? Sue

Joe in NY: Your dog is absolutely GORGEOUS!! And SO cute as a puppy! Oliver is quite cute too.

As for worst move, I have to go with Dustin offering himself up as pawn. It did remind me of Marcellas. Jackie has a good point about casting...I definitely would not have thought of pre-show casting (I'm not anywhere near as creative as she).

Sue,

I don't think the pairs were an advantage so much as a disadvantage.

In All-start, Will and Boogie came in as a pair, but so did Janelle and Howie (& James) and some of the others. Will and Boogie were early targets but Will kept them in the game long enough to forge the final four alliance with Janelle and Erika.

The 3 "enemy" pairs this year weren't exactly balanced. I mean Joe and Dustin were ex-lovers, Jess and Carol were middle school pals (puh-lease, how does that even count as life long enemies), but only D/D had a positive bond (father/daughter) to go with the alienation.

But that said, it was (like Will and Boogie) an early negative. Remember the House originally wanted to break up the 3 enemies first. And, they did get Carol and Joe out early, and Dick was supposed to be next, but he hung around long enough to forge new alliances.

I think father/daughter pair is not exactly "fair" BUT the summer would have been boring without them - they are at the center of soooo much of the drama. And, frankly, if the other HGs can't or won't expel them, by this point in the season it is all fair. (IMHO)

They've all been in the house for 8 weeks. They all know everyone's relationships.

Anonymous said...

Joe, I posted my question without reading first, and missed all the Wee Willie speak, so will look for the photos now. As to your question about strategy, I agree with the posters, and with your examples. Casting was a big blunder and only one made by producers this year (imo). But, Amber must have been able to present herself better pre-game then what we saw. Maybe better meds out of the house? The reason I say that is that the hgs themselves always surprised me by viewing her differently then the audience did. At least earlier in the game. I would have pitched her out to Julie first day. They seemed to shelter or protect her. I even heard hgs going to her for advice! As the game wore on, though, they slowly began to see what we were seeing. I think she gave a good pre-game interview and producers thought she was okay. Ditzy maybe in a cute way, not unstable.

I was always a party of one when I thought Jameka saved her game by taking the non-HOH agreement. It kept her off the block and I remember Dick counting out how long she could stay in the house, saying it was just until she could play HOH. I am not sure whose place in the eviction line up she would have taken, if she had been an HOH threat, but I think she would be gone now. No HOH play is a Floater's dream come true.

Regarding the team play. I think all is fair in BB (and Survivor for that matter). I also think All Stars and this year benefited from their two teams. How boring without the colorful characters whether we watch to heart them or hate them. But, could Boogie have won without Will? Could Daniele have won (if it ends that way) without Dick? You say both teams 'hung around' while other teams didn't. That is my question, were they able to hang around because they were a team that had trust ties outside of the house? And, I hear the response coming....the twins should have had that, too. But, they were handicapped with not being to play from the beginning as two seperate people. Sue
