TV Squad STUFF

I have two new posts over on TV Squad --

One includes a nod to one of the commenters here (and there, too, but mainly here).
The other is my season introductory post to Survivor: China.

Head on over -- be loud, be proud ... be a Donato!
Er, wait ... let me take that back. Please don't be a Donato over there!

Jackie or Orkmommy: I'm on dreaded dial-up so watching videos take a lot of time. I have only one question...Did anyone mention that Eric got PAID handsomely for his tasks?

Anonymous said...

Steff ~

I just finished watching all of the BB8 uncut interview videos and there was NO mention of Eric receiving ANY money as AP. Even when Eric was interviewd he didn't mention the money at all. He said that when he showed-up for BB8 they told him that he was going to be AP. Maybe they told him not to discuss his winnings with the other HGs or anyone because he definitely made no mention of it.

Watching Kid Nation. Surprised... It's not bad and they had competitions to determine job responsibilities. Jackie, looking foward to reading your post on TV Squad on the show.

Thanks Delee, I wanted to catch that. Had no idea it was on tonight.

In case any of you missed the interview with Dick and Dani this morning, you can see it at: CBS News Video - Top Stories and Video News Clips at CBSNews.com. It was interesting.

Jackie, will you be blogging Kid Nation? I just watched the first show. I saw something on it earlier on Entertainment Tonight where they interviewed some of the children. They said there were more adults than children around and that they were not in danger in any way.

I thought it very wise that the council selected additional porta-potties over having a TV. Also liked the way the kids worked well in their groups. Only one little boy elected to go home. The eight year old was just too homesick. It made me wonder how my youngest grandchildren who are nine and eleven would do. I will watch it again.

I really want to know what happened to Amber? Now she really has a reason to cry!!!!! Did the Donatos make any mention of it?

The kids seemed TOO organized, anyone get that feeling? Electric lights? Interesting...but not sure will hold my attention long.

I have seen so many videos of the Donatos. Real SuperPass had a surprise chat with Nick, Dick and Daniele this evening (they said it will be replayed again). The only thing they said about Amber(when rating everyone's gameplay) was that she had NO gameplay other than crying. So far, I haven't heard anything mentioned about her anti-semitic remarks.

I wasn't too excited to watch Kid Nation, but I thought I would give it a try. I'll watch again, if for no other reason to watch Jared (his a funny little guy) and Sophia.

Delee ~

It didn't hold my interest tonight. I found myself cooking and half watching. I'm having a time withdrawing from BB8! Can't wait for the excitement of Survivor China to start tomorrow night!

My husband is so happy. The house is so much cleaner, and dinner was, well edible. Amazing what I can do when not having to feed my BB8 addiction.

Mayi, I understand what you mean. I have so much housework to do now that BB8 has ended. I've only been doing the surface work - just enough to get by. It's funny that I watch Survivor every year and it never consumes my time like BB. Probably because BB is 24/7 and there's always a blog or the feeds to check!

Deanna said...

I too am consumed each summer by BB... I watch the show, the feeds, read Jackies Blog, read word for word at Jokers...Im addicted. Last night after the show, I felt sick inside with knowing it was all done till next year. Each summer, the show consumes me... lol!!! I wish they put a new group in every 3 months or at least twice a year.
Now, I just want to know what happens in all their lives, well most of them.

Watched D&D's interview on the Early show and enjoyed it. Julie asked the question on everyones mind about how it came to be that Daniele was raised by his mom. Daniele said she never really had a mother or a father. Dick said that he had always worked in bars & clubs and that it was a rough life with lil ones at home, but as he started to get into it, Julie changed the subject...grrrrr!
I took from it, that with his lifestyle and the mother of his children bailing, he was pretty much dependent on his mom helping him with the kids, since he worked crazy "bar" hours. Daniele said that before the seperation that they were great friends, but things happen. I think Daniele is the type that when the going gets tough, she gets going. I say this, because I used to be that girl and I see a lot of that in her. I used to turn people away who pissed me off. I only hope that she realizes how much the man loves her and that they grow from this experience...

Deanna from what I've seen they are on their way towards having a good relationship. Dick says he is going to use some oh his winnings to pay for her college education. He plans to go to Brussels and tour Europe. While Nick and Daniele are also talking about going to Europe together. He is going to get certified as a teacher in California and move there.

Did I read somewhere that Nick is moving to Cali and getting a certificate to teach there. Well, I don't think he and Dani are gonna make it on a teacher's salary. She seems to want the finer things in life and Nick isn't going to be able to provide for her like she would like.

Don't go ballistic. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to improve your station in life. I do think there's something wrong with that being the only thing you want in life and doing anything and everything to get it.

Beisdes, from what I understand she grew up in the O.C. with all the rich kids so naturally, she would want to live like them. I doubt if her family had a whole lot of money growing up.

I really enjoyed your article on KN over on TV Squad Jackie and was somewhat surprised at some of the comments from your readers there. Why do so many people see the negative side of things before they can see the positive. It's like they want the show to fail...just because. Oh, well to each his own.

I for one liked it. I'm glad there are adults around somewhere (of course). Little Jimmy was precious and even with his tears, endeared you to him. (Not a Wamber). Glad he chose to go home tho... he can try again when he's a little older.

Mike's facial expressions could get to me, and they were right accusing him of not working when they pulled their wagons to the town. He thought walking along giving encouraging words was working, since he is a leader. That would not have lasted long and I'm glad he came thru later in the competitions to prove his abilities.

I think it's terrible to teach them (even tho it's true) that the poor get poorer. The "workers" (who came in last in competition) have to work harder to earn less. And the "upper class" (who came in first) get paid more to do nothing???? What's wrong with this picture?

I'm assuming that they'll play for "status" again, and they're not always in the grouping they start with.

All in all... a good show and I'll keep watching (for now).

I enjoyed before party interview with Kali. Liked what she said about Dani, and having dinner with Vincent the day before the last show. Maybe she gave them an idea of what a good parental roll model is. I wonder after reading it, if Dani will 'take back' some of the mean things she said about Kali.

I was telling my husband befor the Kid Nation show started, that I hope they have some 'country' kids there. They're going to need good-old horse sense for this show. I didn't get to see it all, but enjoyed what I did.
I would have loved to do that as a kid. What a great learning experience. I bet some of the kids came out with greater sense of just how much they can accomplish.

I thoroughly enjoyed those interviews with the houseguests. I did not enjoy the interviewer though. He needs to get a clue about putting the mic to his mouth too!

Thank you Orkmommy for the site - good search! Thank you, again, Jackie for all your hard work. I can't wait for Survivor tonight. I thought it was starting next week. Yea!

I too thank orkmommy for the link. Those interviews immediately aftward were really interesting...I don't think Dick fully appreciates the "help" he was given by the America's Player twist. He is too much of an egomaniac. His mom looked like a very nice lady...wonder if he had a dad to set an example or if his mom raised him by herself as well as raising his kids. Dani said she didn't have either a mother or a father growing up...she's lucky she didn't end up in foster care...a lot of grandmas can't or won't take on the responsibility for their grandchildren when the parents "take a pass."

Jackie, Great article about Kid Nation on TV squad. I was also surprised about all the negative comments there. I left several positive about the show. I am a pediatric nurse with three adult children and am very sensitive to how kids are treated. Although the kids were homesick and working hard, no one seemed to be abused or neglected. It seems so far to be similar to summer camp, real life struggles, etc.. I hope people watch with open eyes and an open heart as to what can be learned from this show. Speaking of "social experiments," does anyone watch Beauty and the Geek. I love that show!

I watched the live chat at RealSuper Pass last night and Nick did say that he plans to move to California, get a Teaching Certificate so that he and Daniele can be together. She sat next to him smiling and gushing over his remarks. They are also planning to tour Europe together. With Dick opting to pay for her College education and she asked for a car, she probably thinks $50 k minus taxes will be enough to do what she wants to do.
