'The Amazing Race 12' - East Coast Update - 11/18

Jackie's TV Blog, Amazing Race, TAR

It's past 8 PM, do you know where your TAR is? What? Delayed by football once again?

Argh.

Graphic arteest Zoetawny made this TAR street for me. I feel like I'm gonna snagged by the cops for driving over the double yellow line. In CT, that offense is "failure to drive right." I always thought it could just be called "driving wrong." Thanks for the graphic, Zoetawny!

In other TAR news, I wrote a TV Squad entry about my hypothetical "if I were to do it" application for the next season.

Once the show starts here in the NYC area, this entry will be updated with the major happenings as they air. All comments are welcome -- I love to read your thoughts about the show.

UPDATE 8:20 PM ET -- The show has started, yay.

They're on the way to Ouagadougou. Yes, they are.

Once in Bingo, the roadblock is milking camels, then leading four camels to the next clue. Priceless!

Detour wasn't exciting, but was cool anyway. They could teach or learn ten words either to students (teach) or in the native language (learn). Phil said MAY be eliminated, so we'll see if the non-elims exist.

Pit Stop order:
1. Azaria and Hendekea - won a trip to Bermuda
Abunch of teams arrived almost at once. I have to review my tape, but I think this was the order...
2. TK/Rachel
3. Nathan/Jennifer
4. Kynt/Vixsyn
5. Ron and Christina
Then ...
6. Donald and Nicholas
7. Shana and Jennifer
8. Lorena and Jason
9. Marianna and Julia -- eliminated.

My full review of the show is over on TV Squad.

I mentioned in your last post that I'd read your TAR entry earlier. It's hilarious!

Lorena's having quite a temper tantrum, isn't she? And not one drop for Julia.

joy n said...

Lorena's still losing it.

That was nice of Julia to help Lorena with the camels before she completely had her meltdown.

Mariana and Julia helped out Lorena and Jason and for that, they come in last and get eliminated. Guess Romber knew what they were talking about.

By the way, Bachelor is on Monday and Tuesday nights this week. The finale on Monday and "After The Rose" on Tuesday at 10pm.

Unfortunately Lorena carrying on affected the camel/(s) milking ability. I grew up on a dairy farm, peace and quiet ruled at milking time. So wanted them GONE!

Ron and Christina were calm and collective on this show, hope it continues.

Yes, Ron seems to be making a sincere effort. I feel for him with that hernia acting up.

I really feel awful for the sisters. They took it well, though.

I hope Lorena and Jason go next. God, she is a whiner. No wonder the camel wouldn't give her any milk. I wouldn't either. They should have let the sisters go ahead of them because without their help they would still be freaking out about milking a camel.

A while back someone asked where they could see past episodes of Criminal Minds. They have a lot of season 2 on YouTube if you're interested.

Julianne and her brother (DWTS)were on Good Morning America this AM. She mentioned that she loves country music and sings it. Also said that she will have a CD coming out soon. She was asked to sing part of a song, which she did and she has a great voice!

That body, that dancing and now that voice. Lucky girl!

Oh Jackie, I never liked TAR but you finally got to me..I watched it until I fell asleep...that Lorena, what a pill! Even I know you cant whine and jump and bitch and moan around animals, they pick up on everything!
I loved the teaching/learning part..and I love the little boy who helped the couple get to the school and ran with them to the mat! they need to give HIM a reward!

I was amused by Phil's comment at the end when 4 groups arrived all at once. "It's amazing how after thousands of miles, all these teams come into the pit stop together". Umm Phil, for starters there was only one flight out of Paris to Burkina Faso, so they ALL were on that flight. Then the train station was closed until 6am so they ALL had to wait for tickets together. Then you have them following "marked" trails on an open plain. Once one team found the marking and yelled to their partner, all the other teams just ran in that direction. Given these facts, I don't think it's amazing at all that they arrived together. This show always holds teams up so that no one gets too far ahead.

Boy,how I was hoping that Lorena would be the last one at the mat!Isn't it amazing how animals can size a person up in a second. She is a whiner up there with the most annoying of them!I was so pulling for the sisters to beat them out.

I'm not liking the blond twosome much. They sit and make their snarky comments about the country and people....uh,don't like that! Do you not know you are maybe on camera and how it makes you look???
I was glad that the cabbie took them for more money than they were going to pay him...serves them right!

I still have no clear cut favorite on this season. Why is that??? How about everybody else?

I was so glad that Lorena and Jason made it. Yes her whining was a bit annoying, but I don't know if I would have fared any better in that frustrating situation. The calm gentle way that Jason handled the situation and her was refreshing compared to the screaming and insulting matches that are norm on this show. I like a few couples(Lorena & Jason & Goth couple), but nobody is really reaching out and grabbing me YET!

Big Brother 9 News

Ok, I only suspected, but it seems to be true. Last night I saw a commercial during the Amazing Race for Big Brother 9 casting calls. Has anyone EVER seen a commercial for BB as early as November? We never see commercials for BB until about 3-4 weeks prior to its air date of right after July 4. I called my friend and said I wonder if they're gonna have an extra installment of BB due to the writers strike. We both agreed that not during the winter because it's too cold (average temps in LA range between 60 and 75 during the day) for them to have it with outdoor activities and all. I said well true and our conversation ended. Well, today I read one of my BB blogs and seems as though they are going to air BB9 this winter, January or February. I wonder if this is really true. But it most likely is since they are going to advertise for cast members during Survivor episodes. I'm psyched to see BB in the winter!!!! Hope it's true! Jackie, have you heard anything about this yet? Just Curious -

Sherry

Jackie reported and it was all over the TV that because of the writer's strike a Big Bro will run shortly. Guess you missed it. But at least we will get something besides the reruns that are bound to happen soon.
