'The Amazing Race 12' - East Coast Updates - 01/06

Jackie's TV Blog, Amazing Race, TAR

Andy Rooney is on 60 Minutes as I start this, so the show we really want to see (sorry Andy) will be starting soon.

As it airs, I'll update this post with the major events including Philimination. Late tonight my full review of the episode will be up on TV Squad.

Please feel free to jump in with your thoughts in the comments!

TK and Rachel are WAY behind.

Ron and Christina came in first each winning an electric vehicle.

Nathan and Jennifer second. (Grr)
Nicolas and Donald number three.
YAY! The last non-elim! Nearly three hours behind the other teams, TK and Rachel survive. They'll face a Speed Bump next leg.

Phew.

The taxi thingy was hard...and where are TK and Rachel???

Where is TK and Rachel? The others are already through with the roadblock cab driving and their nowhere to be seen.

Uh-oh. It's my fault. I declared TK and Rachel my new favorite team last week.

joy n said...

Man I hope they catch up somewhere along the line. I hate that Nate and Jennifer are so far ahead of them.

joy n said...

Do you believe Nate and Jen's good luck? They're on their way to the Pit Stop and TK and Rachel haven't even gotten to the Road Block yet, have they?

joy n said...

This is soooo NOT looking good.

Don't they have 2 non-elimations? Maybe TK and Rachel will be spared. I believe they only had one so far. I don't like Nate and Jennifer. She annoys me... :)

joy n said...

At least Ronald and Christina came in first to the pit stop.

joy n said...

Oh, I hope this IS a non- elimination leg. It has to be.

Oh Jackie I am with you I have liked TK and Rachel since day one and hoping they make it to the end. I am on the west coast so I havent watched the show yet but am grateful for all the east coasties update. I am with Joy thinking there is 2 no elimnation rounds I sure hope this is one of them if Tk and Rachel are that far behind

I too dislike Nate and Jen. I just shook my head at "no one speaks English here". Wonder how much Japanese she speaks. I DO NOT want them to come in first! Good Ronald and Chris! I do like Nick and John. I hope either team Ron/Chris or Nick/John win the race. It seems TK and Rachel have already won. No matter what -- first or last they remain polite and loving to each other. I would say that makes the winners!

SAVED by non- elim, but must face speed bump next week. Looks like they were way behind. It was so dark at the pit stop. Everyone cross your fingers!

Karen said...

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I Am sooooooooooo glad this is a non elimination round YEAH :) So TK and Rachel have to come back and get Jennifer and Nate out of there I can't stand them lol

I so want TK and Rachel to win this but if they can't, then I agree, Donald and Nicholas or Ronald and Christina will do, as long as it's NOT Nate and Jennifer. I really hope that somehow TK and Rachel have good luck on their side next Sunday and can make up some time.

What a pain in the butt Jen is. I actually feel sorry for Nate. She is just pure misery to be around. If they stayed together after this she would make his life miserable and never let him forget that he cheated. When this is over, Nate, just keep running. Let her make someone else's life unbearable.

I loved Ronald's remark in the cab when the driver was wheezing, "I hope he doesn't croak."

Hello all,
I know this is off topic, but can any one tell me what the hell happened at the end of Desperate Housewives? I just missed what was written on the piece of paper at the end. I know I can find out tomorrow, but I really want to know now.
Thanks in advance,
Denise

Denise, I would love to know too. Could you post it?

I just read your recap of TAR over on TV Squad, and I agree that Nicholas treated his grandfather very well tonight.

I hope you're right about your new fave, too. Jinx 'em! She, especially, is utterly unbearable.

I'm crossing my fingers that there is at least one more "bunching up point" that will benefit TK and Rachel. I'd love to see them win the big bucks to make life easier, but I'm betting they'd do fine without winning, anyway. They are such a decent couple.

Ronald is trying, but still has a long way to go. He's an old dog who doesn't take easily to new tricks.

Blue name is gone again. WTF, Google, get your act together.

Try again. Blue name up!

Excuse my language.

joyn...I just corrected my grandchildren for using that language in front of me. Guess I'll just have to wash your mouth out with soap! LOL

So upsetting that TK and Rachel came in last and now have two things to overcome...a 3 hour wait to start and the speed bump. I agree, they're so nice to each other they are already winners.

How long does Phil have to wait out there for everyone to come in...especially when they are that late. Guess he's earning his $$.

Goodnight all...work tomorrow!

From the previews for next week, it looks like they do get bunched up at an airport, trying to leave Osaka.

Becky: they never showed what was written on the paper. I bet it has something to do with the girl not being their real daughter, that's why she doesn't remember Danielle or anything from her "childhood" on the block.

Maybe if I click my red heels together, and say it three times, it may come true...

I seem to remember at least once a team was told to go to the pitstop in their envelope when they were to far behind. Only when it was a elimination round though.

At least TK and R are safe for now, agree hope for a bunch-up place! AR did not show why they fell so far behind. I know they had an extra leg to the air travel, guess need to read the recap at CBS.

I'm with you, delee,I couldn't figure out why they were so far behind and they just fell off the map as far as the show tonight was concerned. They tend to do that and it is one of the things that really irks me. They could at least have Phil say where they are or what is taking them so long,if not actually following them on camera.

I,too, hope they can make up the time, they work so well together.Nick was much nicer to his grandpop this time, maybe he can smell that money...lol.And Ron is just an old dog unable to change very fast. After years of his boorish behavior,he is finding it very hard to be the "new" Ronald under pressure. My finish order is TK/Rach,Don/Nick(for Don),Chris/Ron and then I hope Jen/Nate fall off the earth somewhere before the finish line!I will take any of the first three over those two any day.She is the definition of "fishwife",to a T.

I hope Nate and Jen stay together forever after the show. Then, no one else will be subjected to putting up with either one of them. Why let their ugliness spread? They deserve each other.

Delee said...

Not AR related...but "NEW" season of Meerkats starts Friday at 830P E

Yippee

Did anyone catch "Cashmere Mafia" last night? Taped and just watched it...I really enjoyed it. Fast paced and a hoot!!!

Nostalgia time with American Gladiators. I still like it!!

No DLA, we're supposed to say
"Nate and Jen are my favourite team"
"Nate and Jen are my favourite team"
"Nate and Jen are my favourite team"

That's how the hex works around here.

For those of you interested in the ratings, Marc Berman at MediaWeek has them as follows (these are ratings rather than numbers of viewers the first number is the rating, the second is the percentage of households with TVs on watching the show at the time; times are Eastern):

7:45-8:45 p.m. 60 Minutes: 13.9/21 (#1)
8:45-9:45 p.m. The Amazing Race 12: 8.1/12 (#2)
9:45-10:45 p.m. Cold Case: 8.3/12 (#2)

Extreme Makeover Home Edition got clobbered by "60 Minutes" but the last new episode of "Desperate Housewives" won the 9-10 p.m. slot where most of The Amazing Race was seen. Third place for the two hours in which it aired was held down by American Gladiators which never managed more than a 6.9/11. Cashmere Mafia (since at least one person here is interested in it) started strong - 7.6/12 in the first half hour - but lost audience as it went on - 6.7/11 in the second half-hour. Of course this isn't the show's regular time slot so who knows.

I'm hopping on board the Nate and Jen train! It couldn't hurt. :)

I was pleasantly suprised that Nicholas was helping out Donald on this leg of the race. In the past it appeared that he had his grandfather do all the dirty work.

Here's to Nate and Jen! ;)

Unfortunately the numbers I gave for the TAR ratings weren't final. Here are the final ratings with number of viewers and ratings in the 18-49 demographic:

8:30 p.m. 60 Minutes/Amazing Race 12 – Viewers: 14.29 million (#1), A18-49: 4.4/10 (#2)
9:00 p.m. Amazing Race 12 – Viewers: 11.54 million (#3), A18-49: 3.4/ 8 (#3)
9:30 p.m. Amazing Race 12/Cold Case – Viewers: 10.95 million (#3), A18-49: 2.9/ 6 (#3)

"American Gladiators" did significantly better than initially reported, finishing second against "Desperate Housewives" (and TAR) and first against "Cashmere Mafia." Still someone at CBS has to be kicking themselves for not having another series of The Amazing Race already in the pipeline.
