'Big Brother 9' - Late Night and Into the Dawn Wednesday

It turns out that the Hudson River Virus may have infected the houseguests prior to us ever seeing them. The symptoms? Huge egos, bad manners, foul mouths, wanton sexual drive, and an increased and exorbitant level of the annoyance factor.

Well, maybe I made that all up. Here are the happenings from the overnight hours in that Big Brother House of Harried Hamsters:
  • As some of the couples were getting called into the DR, Joshuah increasingly freaked out. "They never call couples the night before an eviction!" He's sure he won't be able to sleep a wink and kept pacing the HOH room.
  • Natalie went around writing numbers of things in nail polish on a napkin. She said she was creating art, but it was actually study tips for herself. When she was called solo into the Diary Room, Joshuah was thrilled because he was sure they'd take it away from her as it's against the rules.
  • The remote is missing for the HOH television and Joshuah can't use the TV to spy on others. Joshuah said BB took it.
  • Joshuah is super paranoid that Allison will somehow remain in the house.
  • Natalie begged fro more "Mattie time." @@ I'm just finding her infatuation a bit pathetic.
  • When she was after Matt, she still had her numbers "art."
  • Sharon accidentally broke the glass on the framed photo of her and Jacob. Accidentally? Yeah. She cried.
  • There was a flash of a BB staffer (stranger in the house!) in the storage room.
  • Joshuah was restless for most of the night so far, the others are sleeping.
  • No sirens, no real drama ... yet.

The paranoia is running rampant. Another symptom of the Hudson River Virus?

This just in from an insider source!

The Alarm will go off after Showtime - sometime between 12am - 4am PST. Feeds will be cut at one point though not for long. It's going to be something that has been done before but with a BIGGER SHOCKER.
The house will be on total lockdown. Producer Allison will fill the HG's on what's going to happen via the TV. People will be coming back! The last 5 HG's that were evicted are in sequester right now on the set of BB. Can you say BUENO?!?! Amanda is coming back for sure, she's loved by CBS <3.(Bringing Amanda back stirs the pot) The HG's might come back in different ways - one might be put in the yard, one in the storage room, one in the HOH and another HG in a room that is locked. Stay tuned . .more to come! From Jokers!!!!!

Good Morning Jackie, thanks for the update. I think it is interesting that the way 'the house' gets to people seems to be the same in every season. Even when this year's crop of oddities, the paranoia creeps in. Their egos expand as they think the world is watching them and they, every year, seem to have a warped idea of what makes for 'good tv moments'. Frankly, the best TV moment I can think of today would involve someone going out of their way to be kind to someone else. Natalie has her faults and they are too obvious to repeat, but when Mat was hiding from her in the HOH and Sharon lied about it by saying she (Sharon) wasn't feeling well...Natalie offered to get her something to help her feel better. That was nice of her.

Anon - 8:57am; If what you say is factual, I, for one, will be very disappointed. They will be totally changing the whole premise of the show. It would mean everyone but Neil is coming back and more drama than I could stand at this point. What a letdown to see Jen, Parker, Jacob and to hear Amanda's chalkboard voice again. This season already sucks enough. Someone please fire that producer!

Very distressing -- has anyone else heard that Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and his treatments are not working so he'd been give 5 weeks to live?

I read it on showbizspy.com this morning. This also happened to Michael Landon... how does this happen so quickly to ppl who have led pretty healthy lives? You go so quickly. I just can't imagine how you could possibly prepare your family, your affairs and your head that quickly to leave... as you are pretty healthy up til the last few weeks.
Just sending up a prayer and taking a moment to be grateful for life, no matter what our struggles.

OMG, so sorry to hear that about Patrick Swayze. He's always been a favorite of mine, even though he hasn't done much in the last several years. Ghost and Dirty Dancing are classics that I can watch over and over again.

I wouldn't mind seeing the evicted HGs come back, with the exception of Jacob. If they do indeed come back though, I hope they will all start playing as individuals.

Sydney, I was just thinking about Patrick Swayze this morning. His name was the answer to a clue in the NY Times crossword this am. I'm shocked because as you said, he led a seemingly healthy lifestyle. Hoping someone got their facts wrong on that report.

Sydney said...

I hope so too. Though I read it on Showbizspy, I hear it originated as an Enquirer article. I googled it and several chat rooms report ppl from all over the country are hearing it on their morning radio shows, but they could obviously just be reading it from the Enquirer. Boy would it be great if it were not true.

I can't imagine how that must feel to be facing that, but it reminds me there are people facing stuff like this, and more, every day. Again, a reason to appreciate what's on my plate today.

Anon 8:57--

I'm trying to recall what has happened before but with a big shocker. Some HGs 'came back' during All Stars as 'ghosts' but not to stay. Wonder if these HG's all come back but not all will stay? Or none will stay? Seems some have to stay if they are going to stretch this to a full 3 month season.

meb said...

Sydney, I think you're probably close...evictees coming back in person instead of ghosts like BB All Stars.

Maybe they'll come back as individuals (since they'll be discovered in different rooms), then BB sets up a competition between someone in the house and an evictee... whoever wins that competition gets to stay/loser leaves immediately. Then the remaining houseguests start to play as individuals...no more couples. That would be interesting and would shake up the house. I should be producing this show...this is good stuff. LOL

I looked at Jokers and the info came to their chat room from someone who claims to be an 'insider' to the show. Why a leak? Insider just loves us, that's all. I think of what Jackie says when once in a while the DR sounds can be heard. BB must want us to know. The insider said no one would watch the show because people were only watching Showtime with no need to tune in the regular show to find out what has happened. I think people aren't watching for many other reasons than Showtime. : ) Sue

Sue..I not only don't watch the show, I don't watch Show2 either... I come right here and get my information. Thanks to Jackie and all you other die-hards. I just got so tired of the same ole/same ole.

Sydney,

"No one puts Baby into a corner..."

My first thought when I read your post about Patrick Swayze. I most certainly hope that the reporting is incorrect.

My Dad found a lump on October 3, was diagnosed on October 13, and passed away on October 29. There are no words to describe the confusion, insanity, and impact.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

All of the scenerios are fun to read. If someone comes back, and if they are still in couples when that happens, I wonder if the returnee would take a place of one partner of the couple? That would certainly make for some panic in the house. But then, I always hear better and more creative ideas here than the ones that the producers actually use.

dla, My condolences on your father's passing. My mother was faithful in being tested and the doctors missed what they needed to see. That experience has made me wonder how much medical help is really a help.

They're all working with identical twins. The twins are going to come in and play individually now...

OK. Not really. But I'm sure that's a better scenario than whatever CBS has planned...

dla-

The suddenness seems so unnecessary and brutal. I can't imagine how much of a shock that must have been, let alone how you all ever managed. You are a such a sunny presence.

Sue, I too wonder about doctors. They can do some wonderful things, but so often they are guessing and so far off, IF you find someone who will take any time at all to hear you out and be thorough with you. There are good ones out there, but you often have to pay high fees out of pocket or the waiting list is over a year. I hope whatever candidate does get in can make some real changes in this area.

I'm heading out for a long day but I think it's going to be one I apprecaiate that much more!

dla--so sorry for your loss and what a shock. Your family hardly had time to accept the diagnosis and then he was gone. Perhaps the only positive was that he didn't suffer for long.....

I listened to the news today and haven't heard anything about Patrick Swayze. Hopefully, it is just another attempt by The Enquirer to get readers. Not only is he sooo cute, but a gifted dancer and generous person in his community.

The only person I would like to see back in the house would be Alex. Maybe the evicted HG are coming back in video for part of a competition.

meb--good ideas...maybe you should become a producer for the show :)

As for Amer. Idol---

I love David Archullata. What a gifted young man!

Jason(dred-locks)does have the prettiest eyes(as mentioned in previous post). The judges seem to really like him.

Danny Noriega(purple hair) needs to go home. He's not that great and his attitude sucks!

Based on last night I think Luke(the first one to sing) will be going home. The song was cheesy and performance OK.

Let's see how the girls do tonight.....

dla,I am so sorry for the way you lost your Dad. It's never easy to lose a parent, but that had to be super hard. Speaking of doctors not listening,I have to clue all of you in to what I've been going through. I found a lump in my neck on Feb 8th. My family doc thought it was inflamed lymph node, put me on ab's and the lump stayed. Now I've had a liver transplant and I was totally freaked! Went to a specialist,he couldn't find the lump(nor could I that day),he sent me for CT scan this last Monday and I am STILL waiting for the results. Can't feel the bump today, but did feel it over the weekend. I am freaked out,so all of your prayers would be much welcomed.

Meb,you DO have great(and imaginative) ideas. Much, much better what this sad,sad producer can ever dream up. I've also given up watching this,Jackie is much better at making it fun AND clean!

I also adore David Archuleta on AI,I hope the kid goes all the way! AND I can't stand Danny,he's such a bad role model for gays everywhere. They had some blurb on AOL yesterday with him being disgusting, which I didn't even bother to watch. I hope he goes and I do think it might be Luke or Hernandez who goes. I'm not as impressed with this crop of girls,I think the guys are stronger this time.

if people coming back to the house turns out to be true, that will be really disappointing. it never seemed fair to me to bring anyone back unless they bring everyone...some people are given two chances to win, while others only one....another reason to groan at this hapless, pointless bb9. lets have bb10 and get back to the original recipe that made the show fun and successful to begin with!

Sharon ~

You are in my prayers. I was diagnosed as having a rare form of lupus in 2001 and was told my chances were slim. I asked for and received a BUNCH of prayer that is being answered and am doing just fine on my blood thinner. Doctors only know so much - my doctor predicted doom and gloom and now says nothing about her earlier predictions. I believe in prayer and KNOW first hand that it changes things! God bless you!

Wow, sorry to hear about Patrick Swayze and I'm hoping the Enquirer got it wrong.

Can't wait for tonight's show, but I'll be watching it about 35 minutes delayed. I know I'll peek in on the blog for spoilers. The feeds will be hopping tonight after the live show. I still say they bring some back in.

Anonymous said...

Sharon, I know the wait is agonizing. I am hoping that soon you will find out everything is okay. I am glad you mentioned it and gave us all an opportunity to offer up our prayers.

I haven't watched Idol, but do like Dexter. I began watching it mostly from comments here. I also like Old Christine, but I don't think anyone has mentioned it. I watched and liked quarterlife, only to find out it was not coming back (after only one episode!).

I liked the few minutes of the Veto comp on last nights show. It was funny that the men running away pulled the women up and the timing had to be right to keep them up long enough to work. Something some of the men didn't seem to comprehend. Stop Mattie, stay....was funny.

Patrick Swayze Diagnosed with Cancer
By Stephen M. Silverman

Patrick Swayze, who starred in Dirty Dancing and Ghost, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, his doctor says.

"Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far," Dr. George Fisher says in a statement. "All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic."

The actor's rep adds: "Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects. The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."

Considered one of the nicest actors in the business – in addition to one of the sexiest – Swayze, 55, started his career as a dancer before turning to acting.

His breakout role was as a Catskills dance instructor opposite Jennifer Grey in 1987's sleeper hit Dirty Dancing. He also starred opposite Demi Moore in the 1990 blockbuster Ghost.

On Broadway in the '70s he played the lead role of Danny Zucco in Grease – he returned to the New York stage in December 2003, for a brief stint in the revival of Chicago – before making his movie debut in 1979's Skatetown, U.S.A. Among his other screen roles were 2001's Donnie Darko and 1995's To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, which he played in fabulous drag.

And while Swayze has been happily married to the same woman, Lisa Niemi, since 1975, only last month Scarlett Johansson said quite seriously during her Hasty Pudding roast at Harvard that the man to whom she'd most like to be linked with romantically is, "Probably Patrick Swayze. My dream come true."

Swayze's diagnosis was initially reported by the National Enquirer and New York Post, which both characterized the cancer as more severe than Swayze's doctor has.

Each year about 33,000 individuals in the United States are diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas (a large organ that lies horizontally behind the lower part of one's stomach), according to the Mayo Clinic.

Calling the condition "one of the most serious of cancers," the facility's Web site also states, "Pancreatic cancer spreads rapidly and is seldom detected in its early stages, which is a major reason why it's a leading cause of cancer death."

Thanks to all for your prayers and wishes! I wasn't trying to be a downer, but I DO know the power of prayer! I am wholly convinced that when I was dying and needed that liver, the prayers of my church and all my friends are what pulled me through. I had people in seven states offering up prayers for me,and I DO believe! Thanks again, all! And gayle,I will add you to my list and Patrick,as well. He starred in two of my all time favorite movies(my brother was an extra in "Ghost" so have that one memorized...lol!

nana in the nw and sharon... thanks for the accolades... I do know one thing for sure, there wouldn't be all this "sex run rampant" in my BB house. Smile.

Sharon, on a more serious note: I know it must be very scary to find a lump and not know what it is, but stay as positive as you can, and our prayers are with you. I'm believing it is gone, never to return.

dla...I know how you feel. I had the same thing happen to me, only it was my best friend. This was 20 years ago and I can still remember and still get those same feelings when I think about it. I am so sorry for your loss.

Sydney, I just read on AOL (they were quoting from a New York Post article) that Patric Swayze's doctor says: "Patrick has a very limited amount of the disesase and appears to be responding well to the treatment thus far. Reports of the timeframe of his prognosis and physical side effects are absolutely untrue." He also states that Patrick (55) is continuing his normal schedule.

Maybe the outcome could still eventually be a bad one because, of course, with cancer, nothing is certain, but this news sounds much more promising for him.

Dia, so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. What a horrible shock for you and your family.

Sharon, I wish for you the best of outcomes. My prayers are with you.

Today when there was the news growing everywhere Google goes, and no press release from Patricks's people I knew the thing had to be true. This was proably an unexpected leak and they needed time to figure out how to present this very private information to the public and prepare for the subsequent, UNPEACEFUL hoopla.. NOT what he needs right now.

SO I see something is finally released. I'm so sorry to have it confirmed, but hope that he can be like Steve Jobs, who few know did have this and survived, which is rare. being a Buddhist, he kept positive, apparently first pursed alternative treatments but then got an operation, which cured (him while his company, Apple, held it's breath). I wish the same for Patrick.

Sharon, I can understand how hard it is to wait for information... finding a lump is scary, and not having it there when you go to the doctor is so frustrating. Odd how that seems to happen all the time! But clearly you are meant to be here for much longer! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and please let us know when you hear!

Gayle, glad to hear your story too. Miracles happen!

joy n said...

Patty, you must have been posting at the same time I was typing. Just glad to hear that Patrick's fate is not as imminent as first reported.

Meb, add me to the list of your admirers in regard to your future producing possibilities on BB. Your ideas sound so much better than we've gotten so far this season. Is anyone gonna start a petition to get our girl, Meb, started? I'll sign!

Thanks Sharon! You aren't being a "downer" at all. I'm glad you had the courage to share your medical concerns so that we can pray.

joy n said...

I double-checked that Patrick Swayze report. It was his rep speaking to TMZ, not the NY Post. They also had quotes from that paper. Sorry, guess I would not be a very good editor.

Sydney said...

I guess Allison has been saying to Ryan that they haven't spent enough time in the DR talking about their eviction as normal, so something is up. Also, she finally told him that she is a pro gambler. Seems endurance will be the name of the game tonight as there were no rehearsals? I too loved last night's competition. Was really funny.

I am actually excited for the first time to see the show tonight which feels good.

I was going to post that I found the news on Patrick on CNN, People.com section and sent what I had.

My doorbell was ringing. It was a couple of Marine's looking for an individual. It makes one's heart skip a beat, as you do not know if there is some bad news being delivered to a family. I knew it was not for us, as my guys are not in the military.

Remember to keep all our soliders in your thoughts and prayers.
