Double-Deckers, Rat Race, Rat Poison, and Survivor

Yep, I'm still alive. Tuesday I came home from work, fell asleep. Last night I worked late, picked up my rat poison ... er, Coumadin prescription, at Target, shopped some while there, and headed home catching one of the few new fancy-schmancy double-decker trains on my New Jersey Transit train line. Very cool trains. Sure, you have to do stairs to go either up or down but there are entrance level foyer kind of areas with seats. I bumped into a train friend I haven't seen since pre-surgery and I kidnapped him to sit in the top level with me. These night shots without a flash are lacking a bit as my arms were full of Target bags while taking them. Clicking on the images will enlarge them and show more detail.

Then I went home and fell asleep sometime during the Obama half-hour. Sigh. My stamina is really shot. But I woke up at five this morning ... what a joy!

Still no sightings of Roofus the cat. But it has been overcast, raining, sleeting, extremely windy, and snowing each time I've been at the station. In the past when I saw him, it was when sun was shining on the building. It's been a rough weather week around here.

I'm off to go visit the vampires. Countdown time -- two more weeks after this one. (Yay!) At least it's not snowing today and it's supposed to be nice tomorrow for the kids. I'll be posting the Survivor post tonight when the show starts. I hope to see you there!

good morning!!

First about these games.....
I finally found all 33 pumpkins!! It took me about 15 times.

On the snowball fight I got to Level 3 on my first try!! I must be good at throwing things...and I thought it was slamming cupboard doors!!!

I couldn't even get in the driving game. The site would only take me to peugeot home page.

rbennie--you are right about Survivor. Late last night I saw another commercial that said both tribes go to council....guess it was wishful thinking on my part. I would like to see something different.

Jackie--loved the photo. There is something about night pictures, lights, and movement. It makes it seem like a movie.

Off to party with a class of 6 yr. olds....have a good day and don't have too much fun here!!

Good morning Jackie. So glad to hear you are getting some good sleep after a hard day's work. It really is exhausting to return after major surgery.

Love the bus pictures!

gosh, joyzjenn, what's going on in Philly? heh heh heh... Congrats on having a winning team!

Great pics Jackie. That looks like a fun train to ride. Take it easy on yourself and rest when you can. It takes a surprisingly long time to get back into the work groove when you've been gone for such a long time. In a month or two it will feel like you were never gone.

I'm doing much better in the parking game today. I still haven't quite done it, but I'm closer, LOL. Maybe this is why I never learned to drive.

Another fun websire is freekibble.com. It is similar to the freerice.com but gives kibble to animal shelters. You can play for dog food or cat food. This website was started by a 12 year old girl with her fathers help. I saw here on some show this summer and Ellen had her on. Amazing story I thought. The also give the kibble if you answer wrong - so no worries for the trivia challenged.

Jackie,
Thanks for sharing your great photos. Those new trains are really something!
I am sure you feel exhausted after a full day at work and your commute home.
I know it is easier said than done but don't push yourself on things that aren't critical.
I am so guilty of doing that myself and I can tell you the results are not good.
Take care and try to get the rest you need.

I am here...just trying to catch up on a few things, since I left at 9am yesterday.
I loved the car game and the Deal or No Deal was okay. I think I need to try throwing snowballs using a mouse though. I played last night on my laptop using the finger pad and was not that good at it.
Riding the subway or train to go to work or Target or anywhere is strange to me. I find it very interesting that Rbennie, you don't know how to drive. I'll bet all of you get a lot more exercise!!

Great photo Jackie, thank you.

I was just out buying groceries and, of course, had to get Halloween candy. I knew if I waited one more day, the candy would be on sale, but also knew that would mean I had to make another trip to the store, so I bought some today. I had to pay attention because they had just stocked the Seasonal candy aisle with Christmas. I didn't want to hand out Santa snickers on Halloween...although I don't think anyone would complain. : )

My question to everyone is: Do you buy the good candy in case it will be left over and you can have it, or do you buy the kind you know will not tempt you? Sue

RBennie said...

LOL Sue. I usually buy a combination of both as the good stuff is more expensive. Then I find myself handing out more of the cheap stuff than the good stuff, so in case I actually have leftovers, it will be the good ones.

Sue,
I buy Halloween candy that is not my favorite but stuff I will eat if I don't have my favorites handy.

Although we live in a small town, our neighborhood is like a beacon for trick or treaters. We usually have close to 300 kids stop by.

This year my Halloween treats consist of Smarties, Skittles, and Laffy Taffy.

I do not buy chocolate candy to hand out because I would definitely be eating it...probably before I could get home from the store with it. ;>)

Oh no fair on the parking game. I finally finished part 1 (32.3 seconds) and moved on to part 2 which I lost, and then it makes you start all over again. This could take me weeks to accomplish, LOL.

just a quick comment about the candy thing...
i work retail and i usually have over 50 ft of candy set for halloween with more in reserves(alot for a drugstore i think) and i can tell you all that the public buys chocolate!! i'm always stuck with the "crap" candy after the season...i have gummies and skittles and lollipops coming out my ears, but i've been out of kit kats since sunday!
everyone enjoy your Halloween tomorrow, i'm dressing up like a Phillies fan, oh wait i am one!
and what are these games i keep reading about...i wanna play *pout*

I don't usually have any trick or treaters. I am hoping my nieces bring their children and my son's GF will bring hers (since I am babysitting Friday night). I bought Tootsie Rolls and Sweeties both of which I love. I had to hide them from one of my sons or he would eat it!

Jackie, that train looks amazing! I hope you make it through this first week back, and then can get some rest this weekend.

Sue, I crashed a dealership's worth of cars, but eventually made it all the way through and never killed the dog!! lol

Off to try some of the new games and sites that have been mentioned.

See you later for Survivor!

Joyzjenn that is a lot of candy for a drug store. I am impressed!

In past years I have given out mini snickers and milkyway bars, but I think the kids down here in the swamp have different taste buds than I did as a kid. Chocolate of any kind was KING to me.
Last year some of the kids around here actually requested certain candies I have had many ask do you have Laffy taffy or smarties? I bought both kinds this year. I believe this is probably the first time I am not using any chocolate treats.

I need to clarify something I said. In my 11:51 post I said I do not buy chocolates to give out as treats. I have bought chocolates to give as treats in past years but not in the past 2 or 3 years.

My Hubby usually has a stash of mini Snickers candy bars in the pantry. For some strange reason I don't particularly like Snickers so those are the only safe chocolates to keep onhand in our house. They don't tempt me at all.

Even though there are children in my apartment building itself, not once have I had a trick-or-treater here in seven years. I usually buy some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups just in case.

Oops. I have to eat Reese's Peanut Butter cups again this year I guess!

I'm a grouch I guess, cause I don't celebrate Halloween. Used to, but I think it's dangerous today. You never know who's on the other side of that door if you don't have windows or peep holes you can look thru. I just decided to turn out my light and hope no tricks are pulled.

If I had someone home with me during that time, I might, but I'm not even buying candy this year.

If anyone has any Reese Cups left over, send them my way.

Chocolate is a necessity here. Reese's cups, (I hate peanut butter, my husband loves it) and mini bars of 3 Musketeers. Kit-Kats, Snickers and Almond Joys. The leftovers never go to waste.

Hey guys, "come on in"...wait... that's JP's line on Survivor. ;)

Good to see you Jackie! I know you don't have as much time or energy for the blog now that you're back to work. I'm sure the first week is the hardest. Once your body gets back to an early to bed early to rise schedule your stamina will return.

Very cool train pics! Is that the train you'll be taking to work every day? It's great to have "train friends" and must make the trip more pleasant. I can't believe you're getting bad weather this early. Got your winter gear ready? Listen to your "mother hens" here and try not to do too much.

As far as Halloween candy goes, we still have some left over from a couple of years ago. We didn't get one trick or treater last year even though we live on a very private safe street. Most of the younger children are now going to our mall's Halloween event. Many of the teens will probably go to the theme parks' (Disneyland, Magic Mountain) haunted house events. But, we always have chocolate in the house, holidays or not. :)

joyn...

I'm coming to your house for the chocolate...and then stopping at Jackie's for Reece's...then over to Sue's to see what she's got. KitKats are one of my favs. Hershey Kisses are always in my pantry like it's a staple.

Ciao!
