TV Squad, CliqueClack TV, and Off Topic Photos

My review of last night's Survivor episode is alive and well over on TV Squad. And, I have a new TV Shows Off the Beaten Path column up over on CliqueClack TV. I want to thank everyone for the well-wishes. I'm feeling okay now, mainly just really tired. But that didn't keep me from going to the vampires for my weekly blood draw or my Doppler test yesterday. I won't know the results of the latter until next week, but I didn't like the look on her face as she did the test. The sounds would make a cool Halloween wav noise, though.

Here are some of the photos (click on them to enlarge) I took on my rounds yesterday:

Now, what are the chances of me noticing this bench graffiti on the way to my blood draw? I think it's the same vampire slayer as in this older post of mine. Along with the vampire reference, it had that "lovescool, warkills" tag line.

Detour on the way to the Doppler test.

The hawks were circling above me. No, I am not a small bunny, nor am I a mouse!

I think this ornamental kale was perhaps planted a bit early as we have been having a warm streak lately. But it's a neat plant nonetheless.

Perhaps if we all go to the market and invest, do you think we might actually have peace on Earth?

Woo ooh. Am I first?

Lol, it's so stressful seeing that blank page and hoping you can get that darn word verification right before someone else posts!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to hearing what the old bloodsucker has to say on the tests......

I left the word verification off late after Survivor the other night and got hit by a spambot. Sigh.

Jackie ,
I enjoyed both of your articles.

I have to confess I am a closet Randy fan. I don't get why he works so hard at trying to be disagreeable when he really is a good team player. When the time comes to play not as a team but as individuals he may have trouble but right now he is an asset to Kota.
Hope you continue to feel better after that stomach virus.
I also hope that you get good news on all your tests results.

MEB-

I printed out your "Sometimes" and took it home for my Mom to read. Very funny. I couldn't leave a comment there since you don't let anonymous people post.

Margo... it ain't me... I'd let everybody post, but I don't know how to fix that... anybody got any solutions??? Jackie???

Jackie, the picture of the kale is beautiful. Who knew.

Glad you're feeling better... Just stay that way now!

Ok, everyone has to go look for Unclaimed money at this site! I found >$100 for my stepdad a few minutes ago!

Great pix, Jackie. That kale is a work of art. Mother Nature at her best. Thanks for sharing with us.

Reality TV World has a very telling interview with GC. He is spewing a lot of nonsense and B.S. Glad he's gone. Negative vibes is right!

I'm going to check on some of that unclaimed money. You never know!

Found Money is a great site. Also if you check your state's website there is usually a link to find money being held for people.
It takes some effort to get the money reunded but it is well worth it.

I went on a site for unclaimed money in Florida one time and found over $500 that was due me. To this day I don't know what it was from. And lynn1 is right, I had to jump hoops to prove that it was mine, but was finally able to do that.

I always felt a little guilty about the money because I would never have known about it if a company who charged you a finder's fee hadn't written me and told me about it. I didn't take them up on their offer because I simply went to the Florida site and applied for it myself.

margo...I think I've fixed it so everyone can post on my blog. I hope.

orkmommy...my settings didn't give me the option of comments, but I kept doing all kinds of things until I got it to ask me the question of who to allow to post. I hope it worked.

Good morning, all! I so behind on everything it's going to take me a while to read the past few days comments.

Nana, I hope you find this time to be a blessing as you gather with family and friends and celebrate your mom's life this weekend. You're in my thoughts.

Jackie, I'm so sorry you've been going thru so much. I hope you're feeling better.

Well Monty, what can I say? Our guy let us down. I had hopes for him in the beginning, but it was time for him to go. For a while there, I was afraid they were going to give Sugar the boot instead - which would have been so stoopid!!! (that's when one is even more stupid than stupid).

I'm going to go back and read the past few days comments now, and see what I've been missing. Be back later!

I would like to take a few moments to thank everyone here at Jackie's.

This has been the worst week of my life but all the hugs, prayers, condolences and cards from all of you as been made for a "soft place to fall". Even throught cyber-space I could feel your arms around me saying "it will be alright"....I hope it will.

Tonight our family will get together for the last time before my sister leaves and my dad takes the RV out by himself for a few weeks.

I cope by keeping busy so when the service came yesterday it hit me full force....the finality, nothing left to do but grieve and hold tight to the memories. The most gut-wrenching moment came when my grandson(9) put his stuffed kitty in the coffin with grammy because he didn't want her to be alone. This is the first funeral he has ever been to and he had been very close to his grammy. We had a long talk about her body/soul and spirit(I won't get into religious beliefs).

But life goes on.....I am going to spend some time dancing with my club tomorrow and hope to get back to volunteering at the school next week.

Thank you again to all of you.....

Nana,
You are in my thoughts & prayers. What a beautiful thing your grandson did. Brought tears to my eyes. As we lose our older family members, it is those little ones that make life worthwhile and keep us going. Give him a big hug from all of us!

(((Nana)))

I wish I lived close by... it would be a nice thing to be able to come over and bring you some almond tea

or pick you up and take a drive to the beach to just sit and look at the ocean.

After my dad died, and I'd been through a zinger of a week as you just have, I found I was seeing everything in life from such an different place.... I cleared my schedule of what I could and gave myself some room to just be. Thoughts and feelings came and went like waves washing over me. And in not too long, I was ready to re-embrace life again, for all it's joy and trials and mystery.

nana in the nw... Lots of hugszzzz coming your way as you start to heal from your loss.

pdx granny... i just got an alert on my email that you had posted on my blog and your avitar came up on my home page of the blog showing me that you are a follower! That is so neat... I now have two followers, you and Sydney.

Was there something you did to show up as a follower, or do you think it just happened because you commented???

I also went to your site and it showed on yours that you are a follower there as well. How did you get it to do that. I can't figure out how to show what blogs I follow.

Anonymous said...

meb--whatever you did worked on your blog! It let me leave a comment...YAY.

PDX Granny said...

MEB, I didn't now I'd show up on your blog! That's cool!!

I read Sydney's post about following your blog, so decided I wanted to try it too. I clicked on the word "dashboard" on the top right, which put me into my own profile. From there, I went to the bottom of the page where I could add a blog to follow. After clicking on ADD, I put your url (http://whatsnuwitu.blogspot.com) into the space and added it.

I'm not sure what happens now, but it'll be fun to find out! : )

meb said...

YAY nana in the nw... it's working. And pdx granny, I figured it out, but only because you showed me what you put in the url.

PDX Granny said...

Orkmommy, I found money!! Somewhere between $50 & $100. . . . . Now I just need to figure out how to get it.

It's listed under my former name and address along with my ex-husband. The problem is, that former name and address is from 1973 and I have no idea how to go about proving I was connected to that address at this point.

My ex has also passed away. I found that out when working on my 40th class reunion a couple of years ago. I tried, but was never able to find out what happened to him, and when. I have no idea if I'm going to need to furnish any of that info.

It just might be too much trouble to try to get it. I could probably get a copy of my marriage certificate from the state to show my name change, but I have no idea how to go about getting proof that I owned property in another state way back when. Plus, no doubt It would cost to to get records.

More than likely, it would cost more than I'd get!

It was fun to find, regardless!

That's so cool PDX!

I found nothing under my name in three differnt states, my husband's name , his 2 kids and his mother and brother. Guess we collect as we go!

But one person I passed it to said she got $100 from that site a few years ago.

pdxgranny: This link will take you to a search of the index for Social Security.(there are many different sites that have the same info) You could put your deceased ex's name in and see the date of his death. If you need proof of a past address, there are lots of things you could do, but one is to show an old phone book (available on line). It could be you won't have to do any of that. All you would have to do is prove you are you. Some of the found money is from utility deposit refunds, etc, left when people move. At least that is what we found when we researched it.

The fact that any one who has passed away and had a social security number is listed on line, for free, for anyone to see has bothered me for years. But, it is what it is and my thinking it is a dangerous conflict to our privacy doesn't make the government change it. : }

pdx granny... when I found money, the only way I could prove that I had lived at that address and prove that it was me was to get a coppy of my driver's license application back then, which I had applied for when I moved to that state. Of course it wasn't 30+ years old.

Nana, I just want to let you know I'm thinking of you and praying for you. When my dad died 5 years ago, I experienced much of what you are. The work of caring for him and then making sure his service was just right was over and I was a bit lost. I found that I needed to take care of myself and let the emotions come and go as they wanted to. It took a year before I felt I was really back to being me, and it was a me that was different because I no longer had a dad. I learned to live with it and still think of him and talk to him. I feel he is present in a different way now. I have to say the tears still come sometimes but they feel good, because I know I am remembering someone who lived and loved and is missed. I hope this helps a bit. Just be sure you rest, eat right and get some exercise, even when you don't want to do any of those things. And remember that when you feel all alone and sad, we are all here to help you through it.

Jackie...your detour for your test took place in my town. I recognized the Fire Safety car right away since I work for the Boro and see it in the parking lot every day. It's a little hard to be sure, but I think I also know which of our cops are in that photo. Very nifty to see my hometown featured in one of your pics.

Btw, that gas station has the cheapest gas in town. Everyone must have been in a rush to get the good deals, lol.
