The Amazing Race - 11/16 Show Post

jackie's tv blog, the amazing race

Yes, the show is starting late here in the NYC area once again. 60 Minutes started at a bit after 7:30 PM ET. So we should be up and running in a half-hour or so. I'll be putting the major updates here and my full show review will be posted over on TV Squad later tonight. But the real fun is in the comments and you're all invited to join in!

8:31 PM ET and it's AWN!

Nick and Starr did the FF and came in first again. They each won a waverunner. The others are on the detour or trying to get to the detour.

2. Toni and Dallas
3. Ken and Tina

Dandrew arrived 4th but had to go back to the detour as they didn't follow their clue.

4. (Again) Dandrew
5 Terence and Sarah -- Philiminated

Same here Jackie. Steelers game was on till 725p.

This is getting to be a habit.

Uh-oh, I think I heard Laurie screaming at the football game again.

Here's the episode description for tonight:
"I'm Like an Angry Cow"
The teams travel from Old Delhi, India, to Almaty, Kazakhstan, on the eighth leg of the race, and they must contend with 30,000 chickens that are blocking their path to the pit stop.

Bring on the chickens!!

Laurie said...

Yes, Clementine, that was me screaming and maybe even swearing. I so tired of the Chargers not playing all 4 quarters. We should have won that game but ... we didn't. Argh!!

Looking forward to seeing 30,000 chickens. That's a lot of feathers. No divorcees tonight, right?

KarenJC said...

Well, I'll join Laurie screaming at the football again, but not for the same reason :). We have several Steeler fans in the house... Woohoo!

Oh my, 30,000 chickens? Ha!

Unknown said...

No divorcees. Who was in the previews last week having an arguement? Was it the frats?

If there are 5 teams left, I think the finale is the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Just guessing, though!

Unknown said...

I mean "argument" because spelling is important :)

Unknown said...

I don't like when a few teams are ahead, and then they all get bunched up again. They probably have to do that for production, but it kind of defeats the purpose of racing!

At least we get to see the chickens in the daylight!

Anonymous said...

Hey, Jackie, how are you feeling? Did you get some rest this weekend?

Glad the show is finally on. I would not do well in the walking among chickens. I am deathly afraid of birds. Shades of what's his face from BB!

Unknown said...

Yes, indeed there are 30,000 chickens in that shack. I may have a phobia I didn't know about, because they're giving me the willies.

Ew, and then they have to eat sheep butt fat. Blech!

Unknown said...

Anon, that's too funny. Could you imagine Ollie in the chicken shack? Hee.

joy n said...

Good old reliable Terrance.

Jackie S. said...

Anon 8:46 - It will take a while to get it out of my system but I'm already feeling not as fatigued. Thank you for asking.

Unknown said...

Terrance is a vegetarian, and he can't eat the meat (sheep's butt?) If Sarah has to eat that whole plate herself, she should take half of his winnings at the end!

And I think Starr was confused? They don't need two plates, but should share one, right?

Anonymous said...

Jackie, first, I am the one who forgot to sign my name again!(Anonymous 8:11)

Second, the whuz had to suck it up and eat the meat for a chance at the million. Did he expect her to eat it all? Can you tell I really dislike him?

Unknown said...

Hence the name of the episode! I hope everybody dresses up in the cow costume!

Delee said...

At least we know why the title of the show. LOL the cow costume...GO TONI & DALLAS

Unknown said...

Terrance, you are so lame. Sarah just ate a plate full of sheep butt fat for no reason! Arrggghhh!!

Delee said...

I hope using the Fast Forward now was not a mistake since they have come in 1st so many times.

joy n said...

If it wasn't for bad luck, Andrew and Dan would have no luck at all.

Unknown said...

Frat boys remind me of Beavis and Butthead.

Good thing they didn't have to actually drive the construction machinary! That could have been dangerous for the locals, lol!

joy n said...

Tina didn't read the clue!

Anonymous said...

joy n said... If it wasn't for bad luck, Andrew and Dan would have no luck at all.

Joy, I am LOL! I thought the same thing. I hope the crane driver listened to the instructions (and they were correct).

It was nice of Ken to let Tina be the head. Guess he figures she was the ass in real life.

I really like the mom and son. he,he,he -- they didn't read the bottom of the glass.

joy n said...

That was a break for Dallas and Toni. Whew!

Unknown said...

Toni and Dallas, read the clue! YES!!

Now Ken and Tina don't know what they're doing. Oh, they figured it out, I don't know how.

Frat boys are absolutely Beavis and Butthead. They talk just like them.

Delee said...

Again mis-reading the clue will lead to a downfall.

joy n said...

Hope they get penalized for taking off the cow outfit.

Delee said...

Another clue boo hoo...so Sarah and Terrance will come in 4th.

joy n said...

Ah, Andrew and Dan, how DO you survive in real life on a day to day basis?

Jackie, see any shoes in that pile that look familiar? We may now know where thay came from.

Unknown said...

One person should always take responsibility for re-reading the clue! Duh!!

Anonymous said...

Can you imagine what kind of grades the Frat Boys must earn in college?

Jeese-Louise, there have been more players who did not read the directions this year.

I just hope the boys luck out -- again.

Anonymous said...

wow...
all i can say is wow.
i don't remember so many teams misreading clues this late in the game
wow.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, Sarah isn't going to run!

Unknown said...

Terrance, your delicate stomach cost you a million dollars!

Sarah, you can do better. I sure hope she sees the real Terrance when she watches the show.

joy n said...

Dumb a** Terence couldn't eat that yucky stuff for a million dollars. Sarah still should run. She has the patience of a saint.

Andrew and Dan made it by the skin of their teeth, er, toes.

joy n said...

Uh, oh, looks like Nick and Starr may be in trouble next week.

meb said...

They can't make sure they read every word of the clue before they start out. What is wrong with these people.

And yes, for a million dollars Terrence couldn't eat the meat. He should have left as soon as he saw Starr and Nick had already sat down.

YAY we won first again. I have to admit Nick grabbed one of the clues out of the frat boys hand. That was a little pushy...but hey for a million dollars I would have done it too.

KarenJC said...

Did it seem like they had an unusual number of challenges to do in this episode? It was fun to watch tho, but scary if you had to eat the food and especially drink the milk...different conditions than USA.

Jennasmom said...

Well, my girl Tina is still hanging in there. Wonder how she would have been treating Ken if HE had not read the clue correctly. Don't like her, but gotta cheer her on - she's my team!

Jennasmom - can't believe we are still in it! I guess I keep looking for a more "softer" Tina. She's just so hard - look wise and how she speaks most of the time. I couldn't believe the frat boys still pulled it off. Do you think they let them go back and get their shoes for the rest of the race? I also agree that they are not reading their clues all the way - even Tina - and she usually does. oy! She missed more than two I think.

Have a great day all -

Terry is a Texan! said...

Hi to All....hey my husband is now watching TAR with me! He thinks the frat boys need to be drop kicked they are so whiney and selfish....me too actually...I adore the Mom and Son and hope they win....and at the very least they win some of the prizes Star and Nick are racking up....And I have a soft spot for the divorcees, I hope they do make it and come out as a team in real life...but Becky your post made me crack up! That was so funny!

lynn1 said...

Hey meb,
Our team is doing well. I hope they don't run out of energy in the next 2 weeks. I would love to see them in the final 2 or 3 teams.
I like Toni and Dallas too. If Nick and Starr or Toni and Dallas win it all I will be happy.
I can't imagine the Frat boys winning it all. They are just too disorganized and don't read clues well.
I like Ken OK but I don't care for Tina. I will not cheer for her to win.

RBennie said...

I got in late last night and only saw the last half hour of the show. Well my team is gone! Damn that Terrence! As soon as they saw what they had to do they should have left. I felt bad for Sarah. On the bright side though, at least now I'm free to cheer for Toni and Dallas. Am I the only one who's noticed that Andrew and Dan come in next to last every week?

RBennie said...

Here is the updated team list:

1. Delee & Petals (Toni & Dallas)
2. Karen in MD/DC & Jennasmom (Ken & Tina)
3. Lynn1 & MEB (Nick & Starr)
4. Donna in AL & Nana in NW (Andrew & Dan)

PHILIMINATED

1. Laurie & PDX Granny (Anthony & Stephanie)
2. Becky, Monty924 & DLA (Mark & Bill)
3. Clementine & Caroline (Marisa & Brooke)
4. Joyn & Jackie (Aja & Ty)
5. Margo & Sue (Kelly & Christy)
6. Rbennie, Sydney & Orkmommy (Terence & Sarah)

Anonymous said...

As much as I hate to be out of the pool, I'm so glad Terrance is gone! I agree with him not eating the meat, he is a vegetarian after all, but I would have left immediately instead of trying.

Frat boys can go next! Does anyone else think their frat must me like the Lambda's from Revenge of the Nerds?

RBennie said...

LOL Orkmommy. I don't know if Dan & Andrew are Lambda's material. The Lambda's were nerds, but they were smart nerds!

Ok, I am not a vegetarian, so I don't know all the rules..but, my Hubby pointed out that Terrance drank the Milk...but couldn't eat the meat..does that makes sense??

KarenJC said...

dahly - there is a difference between vegetarian and vegan. Vegan's do not eat any animal products, including butter, milk, meat, cheese, etc. Vegetarian's do not eat meat.

Hope this helps - Karen in MD/DC

Off topic reality news from TMZ:

Ace Gordon celebrated being voted off "Survivor: Gabon" with a drunken boozefest that reportedly ended in a throwdown with the cops.

Gordon was busted early Sunday morning for disorderly intoxication, obstruction of an officer and resisting arrest without violence, after reportedly being tossed out of a bar in Naples, Fla. for striking a woman.

According to the Naples Daily News, Gordon was also aggressive towards an officer while being escorted out the bar and was thrown to the ground in order to be handcuffed.

The NDN also reports Ace "repeatedly told deputies he was famous."

The guy you'll never hear about again (their comment) was released from Collier County jail on Sunday.

Maybe they didn't understand his accent? LOL.

And Mary Delgado (of Bachelor fame - Byron Velvick) was arrested again Saturday night at Lorine's Cantina in Del Rio, TX for public intoxication, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Apparently, she told the cops it was her "constitutional right" to remain at the bar. She kicked the radio in the police car. Byron posted her bail.

Having the sheep head looking at the diner would have been as bad as eating the meat, for many, I thought. Terance kept saying he wanted Sarah in his life. Did she ever respond? I thought she might just be holding on until they were off the race to tell him so long, but I haven't watched enough this season to know. I laughed when Tina was the one saying to return the cow costume and then in her interview said 'we took it back'. Or something like that.
The frat boys do not deserve to be there...but something is helping them slip by every time. Just barely. Besides proving their ineptitude by leaving their shoes behind, not reading the clues, and being insufferably whiney, they insulted the people of their host country. I never like to hear that in a contestant. Sue

joy n said...

Sue, yes, that bothered me too, that they insulted the people there. I think they'll be gone next week. Those guys are their own worst enemies.

Anonymous said...

Which surprises you most by being drunk and disorderly and arrested? Ace or Mary? I didn't watch Bachelor so don't know about her. Thanks for posting it joyn

Off topic,
There was another interview this morning with Amy and Phil from the Biggest Loser on our local station.. They look amazing. He now weights 204 and she is a size six. He did mention that when someone has a "meltdown" they are immediately taken out for an interview. That is how they get the raw emotions. Also, a way for some to get more airtime I suppose. It makes it interesting to have someone local on a show you watch. Tiger Woods is building a home here too it was announced. Guess I told more than you really wanted to know but I thought this was interesting.

I just sent this out as an email to some of you, but for those I don't have email addresses, I thought I would post it here... It's really important:

I just read an article on the dangers of drinking... Scared the crap out of me... So that's it, From now on, No more reading!

joy n said...

Ace kind of surprised me the most. I didn't think he'd act like a jerk so soon after the exit. The finale hasn't even happened yet.

Mary, on the other hand, well, she's been there, done that.

joy n said...

Reality TV World has articles about the off topic subjects above, plus an interview with Terence and Sarah from TAR. I still don't like Terence after reading it. They're still together but it's sounding a little iffy to me.

KarenJC said...

joyn - thanks for the update on Terrence & Sarah - I went and read the article - I still don't like him either, he's almost anti-social. Sarah said they work on their relationship hourly, not daily. whew - that's a lot of work.

I then, of course, had to go and read The Biggest Loser interviews...I'm a little obsessed. lol -

Have a great day everyone - I have a day off today, lots of vacation time to use or lose.

Petals said...

G'Morning guys!! Happy "Coping with Uncertainty Day" (yes, it's real.)

RBennie said...

LOL Petals, I think that's every day lately.

RBennie said...

As I sit here ignoring my work and thinking about TAR, I realize there has only been 1 non-elimination leg of the race so far this season. Will there be another one next week or just one for the entire season? If there is one next week, does that mean 4 teams racing to the finish? Anyone?

joy n said...

rbennie, I recall on the first episode of this season, Phil said there would be 11 legs and 8 pit stop elimination points.

I'm counting 8 "legs" (shows) so far. 7 eliminations: Anita and Arthur, Anthony and Stephanie, Mark and Bill, Marisa and Brooke, Aja and Ty, (non-elim, Ken and Tina) Kelly and Christy, Terence and Sarah.

There may be another non-elim this week, but there is still one more elimination point to go. I don't know the finale date, does anyone else know?

It does seem odd that there were so few non-elims this time around. I know the non-elims keep it interesting, but of course, I only like them when they keep teams I like from going home. LOL!

RBennie said...

LOL, exactly Joy. I needed Sunday to be a non-elim leg! It will be interesting to see how it all pans out.

Anonymous said...

From what I can find, the finale is on Dec 7 which means there are 3 weeks left. If there are two non-elims left then they would have to do them both in the next two episodes with the final 4 going into the last episode together. Does that make sense?

helleeeeeewww beautiful peoples!

I am back from my trip and feel completely rejuvenated. What good news to hear that you are off the coumadin Jackie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, that's a giant cause for celebration. Have you ever had a chance to crack that champagne I brought you from all of us here at the blog? If not, this just might be a reason to do so!

My team got voted off -- I don't like Terrance bu tthey at least edited him as being more encouraging this ep and of them working together more, would anyone agree?

Sue -I totally agree with all your comments about the FRET boys.

Petals-- where is it listed that that is a real holiday? I want to rush out to stock up on the cards that undoubtedly Hallmark has made up for the occasion.

Thanks Joy, for your usual reality detective work. Whatever you find I am interested in knowing. What is UP with Mary? I know, she's passionate, and passion runs in all directions. Byron is still there, bailing her out. Hmmm. click here for her mug shot -- she's kind of smiling!
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20241107,00.html

Doesn't surprise me about Ace at al. Hope he doesn't try to look Sugar up when she's back....

In other Bachelor news, I guess it's old news that Charlie O' Connell and Sarah Brice are back together again. I read that they are not living together and going slowly but surely. They'd lived together for 2 years immediately after the bachelor ended and said that didn't give them the chance that apparently now they are creating room for. That does seem serious enough that they spent so much time together and are back together again. I guess they plan to marry. Best of luck.

RBennie said...

Welcome back Sydney. Missed you bunches! Glad you are rejuvenated. Can you maybe send some this way, LOL.

Anonymous said...

Hi all! Maybe TAR will have one of those two parter so there wouldn't be an elimination on that one. Does that add up, though? Do they still do those 'to be continued' shows?

Sue

Sydney said...

Rbennie -- Now that our team is kaput, I know you are rooting for Dallas and mom to win. I still have to think hard about who I feel interested in rooting for... I certainly like them, but no one has me THAT riled up.

Anonymous said...

OMG--I was watching The Doctors(you know that talk show with Travis Stork) and who was in the audience...Sheila from Big Brother! The topic was men/women questions about sex. She asked "if it was normal for her boyfriend to have an erection when he wakes up"!!! Some people will do anything to get their face on TV!!
BTW--she still had those white tan lines on her neck.

Just had to share with you all......

joy n said...

Some things (and people) never change, do they nana. I knew the answer to that question many, many moons ago.

Welcome back Sydney. You've been missed!

Quick update on Ace Gordon's fun weekend. RTVW now reports that it wasn't a woman that Ace hit in the bar. The bartender says Ace said something to a woman and the guy she was with said something back to Ace. Ace slapped the guy and was then escorted out of the bar where he started in on the cops. You know the rest of the story.

Anonymous said...

This is totally "old stuff", but I just saw the pic of all the shoes. My first thought was....somebody's dog has been stealing neighbor's shoes and bringing them home as a trophy. Similar to a cat bringing home the mice and birds they kill to get praise from their owner!

Also, Granny PDX is remember you commented about shoes hanging over telephones lines....I saw on COPS once that it is a signal to people that drugs are sold in that neighborhood. Different colored shoes indicate different drugs. We have many shoes on lines in Tacoma, I'm not sure I believe that, although, there are several near the local high school.

Just thought I'd share that with you!

Welcome back Sydney!

It's good to read you can kiss the "rat poison" good-bye. It's been a long rough road and I hope it's all good from this point on.

Jennasmom...

I thought I read something about your daughter in previous comments but can't seem to find it now. I hope all is good.

I have so much to do to catch up it's overwhelming. Forgive me if I don't address some of your personal comments.

Joy n...

Thanks for posting regarding all the gossip on the Internet. If I want to know anything about anything all I have to do is come here. You guys are always so entertaining.

Sydney...

I see you are back and will have to make the time to read your blog.

Your stories and clips on your blog always put a smile on my face.

Has anyone heard how Sharon is doing lately?

Missed you all!

YAY...Sydney is back. And Zoetawny too... Glad to hear from both of you even tho you were absent for different reasons. And glad you're feeling better Zoetawny... I was worried about you.

I've kept up with your blog since you've been gone. You managed to post some even in your absence.

I saw the commercial on Jason too joyn. I was concerned he was leaving his son again, but I guess this time it looks like he may be with him, at least some of the time.

Nitey-night time for me.. Talk to all you guys in the am.

Zoetawny -
Glad you're feeling better. That flu is rough!!!!!
Yeah, my daughter gave us a scare. Doc had put her on a low-dose antibiotic therapy for a urine reflux problem she was having. It is not that uncommon in little girls and is something they usually outgrow. But she suddenly started having horrible migrating joint pain. Every day another joint was very painful and she wouldn't move it. We had to put her through all kinds of tests and it turned out it was a rare reaction to the antibiotic. Once that got out of her system, she was fine. She's on another antibiotic now and all is okay. We go back in a year, and they said she should have outgrown the reflux problem. Gave us all a scare when they started testing her for juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and a few other awful diseases! Mom & Dad got a few more gray hairs!

Petals said...

OFF-TOPIC TIDBIT:

My friend refuses to let anything slip about her time at The Bachelor, but yesterday she did say that the producers keep the girls sleep-deprived! She said they made it impossible to get more than a couple of hours at a time.

Sydney said...

great tidbit Petals -__ I bet she is under contract to be sued for 5 million dollars if she lets any details slip. They do that for all the shows, so I don't know why I thought you would be able to tell us everything once she was back. BUT once that time is up - I don't know if it's when the show airs in total or once her part in it is shown and done -- maybe she will reveal more. I wold sure like to know!

OFF-TOPIC TIDBIT
Today is the day Lincoln gave the gettysburg address.

Sydney said...

Hi Zoetawny -- I guess you got the flu before the flu shot could take effect -- I hope it wasn't because of the flu shot. I don't get them since I live where it is warm most of the time and I don't have a life where I come into contact with many people anymore like I did in NYC. I got the flu last year, though I have not gotten it for several years. My husband got it last year too and he GOT the flu shot, so I guess sometimes it doesn't matter.

And whenever I leave for a trip, I upload several sets of photos at least on Adventures in Nature so I can post with pix from wherever I am with my iphone. It is hard to type long posts around pix on that little thing, but I have done it. Since I post just about every day, people check every day and I don't want to break the momentum.

I managed to feed squirrels again by hand and these little guys had white tufts of fur behind each ear -- and their coats were as fluffy as you can get! They almost looked like a different animal they were so puffy! Got a pic or two. CUTE!

Sydney...

It's warm here most of the time, too, but that doesn't stop viruses from spreading. I hadn't had the flu in 10 years since I've been getting the shot, but it got me really bad this time. I've been a advocate for frequent hand washing for years but can't seem to get my husband into the habit. Most of our grocery stores have a big tub of Lysol disinfecting wipes right outside the door so you can wipe the shopping cart down. Pieces in the news tells us that viruses and bacteria are getting stronger because of unnecessary antibiotic use. Hopefully, we don't have a flu epidemic this year. Stay well!

orkmommy...

Congratulations on your star! He got a nice write up.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jason in the new Bachelor. Now, I've got to go check out the site.

Zoe, I called to get some info on Sharon, but received voice mail and left a message. I have been traveling for just over a week, so will try again and let everyone know what I find out.

I was saddened to read about Mary Delgado being arrested again. Clearly some anger management / alcohol issues to work through.

Ya know, I just do not like Terence. At all. He has bugged me from the get go, and he is not doing anything post show to change my mind. Adios.

I am excited to see Jason with his son on the new season! I also caught one of the previews, and it put a smile on my face. :) I just hope he finds a nice girl that can make them happy. We can't hope for much more than that!

Petals, was your friend involved in the season that will begin airing soon? I may have missed some of the chatter, but please keep us posted if you get any scoop. lol
