The Amazing Race - 11/30 Show

jackie's tv blog, the amazing race

Yes, the show is starting late here in the NYC area once again. 60 Minutes started at a bit after 7:40 PM ET. So we should be up and running in a half-hour or so. I'll be putting the major updates here and my full show review will be posted over on TV Squad later tonight. But the real fun is in the comments and you're all invited to join in!

8:41 PM ET and it's starting here.

Nick and Starr are number one to the pit stop. They win yet another trip.

OMG - Dandrew is number two (THUNK)
Ken and Tina didn't get the clue and need to go back. Toni and Dallas way behind.

Ken and Tina made it -- one oif the final three teams. Sigh. Dallas and Toni eliminated in a tearjerker.

On behalf of the Chargers (who lost again) I apologize for the delay in the starting of the Amazing Race. It shouldn't be long now, maybe 10 more minutes!

Delee said...

I am the same as Jackie, once the Steeler/NE game ended, the network switched to the Bronco/Jets game. So I would guess around 845p. Gosh I dislike this...grrr!

Petals said...

Hey everyone. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Now bring on the green & red!

Petals said...

Oh! They showed the frats goose-stepping on The Soup! hahaha

Laurie said...

Hi Ladies!
One of these days the show will end up being the same time on both coasts! Petals, I love your lamp!

Unknown said...

Okay, who do we think looses their passports and money tonight? Gotta be the Frats, right? Or maybe Ken/Tina, if they're fighting.

Anonymous said...

Petals...have you watched The Christmas Story yet this year? I really felt for that Mom when the Dad put the lamp in the window for all the neighbors to see. I could just see my dad doing the same thing and my Mom 'accidentally' breaking it. He brought up some oddities in his time. :)

I set my DVR to go an hour over. How sad that my life revolves around whether I get a tv show recorded. But, yes, it is true.

Donna in Alabama said...

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday!!
Petals...
You are getting the Christmas seasoning going with the "Leg Lamp" prize.

Laurie said...

Clementine, I think it will be the frat boys, but maybe that's too obvious!

Has the show started yet?

Unknown said...

Just starting now!

They're headed off to find a clue on a Russian submarine! Cool!

Petals said...

I watch A Christmas Story whenever its on, plus I have the DVD, for when I need an off-season Ralphie fix.

Unknown said...

Tina's back in major bee-otch form. Ken's not living up to expectations.

joy n said...

Wonder why they didn't give the departure times?

joy n said...

Wonder why they didn't give the departure times?

Petals said...

Go Toni & Dallas!!!!

Petals said...

I'm the idiot...I was looking for Sean Connery.

joy n said...

Andrew and Dan crack me up!

Petals said...

Dallas resembles Peter Facinelli.

Petals said...

That task is sooo convoluted. I would fail on this show.

Unknown said...

The sub was rather more spacious than I would have expected.

Frat's getting splashed by that truck was classic!

Oh, there's counting AND reading involved in the next task. This should be entertaining.

joy n said...

Uh, oh! Toni mentioned passports. Is it an omen? Hope not.

Jackie S. said...

I don't like that Toni mentioned passports and money.
:(

Sydney said...

THey boys have done it again -- somehow I have a feeling they are still going to make it this round? If they do, they will be in the F3 and that will be so wrong!

Unknown said...

Waa Waa Waa - frats are having another bad day :((

They went to the wrong park.

I just can't believe they've made it this far in the race.

Sydney said...

Hi Petals -- did you get settled in before the holidays?

Sydney said...

I don't either Jackie!

Petals said...

Syd!! Sadly, no. Still in the packing phase. Move-out date is 12/21. Woohoo.
Hope your Thanksgiving was great.

joy n said...

Now Tina mentioned money and passports. Hope they go home. Tina's kevetching AGAIN!

Petals said...

I want a pony!!!! How cute!

Nick & Starr still skeeve me... eww.

Unknown said...

I bet Dallas will now always remember the difference between Stalin and Lenin. Toni really should have done this one.

Can't wait to see the frats do this.

Petals said...

Oh, I'd spend an hour petting that cute lil pony.

Unknown said...

Maybe the frats won't read their clue, and they'll eat the pastry!

Some of the tasks this season have been extremely easy, and this episode seems extra difficult. Wonder why?

Petals said...

wow - that was nice of Tina.

PDX Granny said...

I still have 2 hours to go before the show. Laurie, I'm with you when thinking that one of these days the show just might end up at the same time on each coast due to the delays. But by time that happens the show will be over for the season!!

I really, really hope it's not Toni and Dallas that have the passport/$ screw up!!

Petals said...

Are my eyes decieving me? Are frats doing a smart thing?

Unknown said...

I'll give you a hug, Dallas! Over here, over here!! Free hugs! LOL

joy n said...

Andrew and Dan got help. Off by one.

Finally, Dallas got it. with help from Tina, who announces her "help" to the world.

joy n said...

Oh no! It's Dallas and Toni who lose the passports and money!

Petals said...

Syd - do you see the Peter thing in Dallas? Are you going to see Twilight? I'm not.. I went through that phase in the 90s with Anne Rice.

Petals said...

Can't they call the cab company, or flag down every cab they see & ask ??

Unknown said...

Ken and Tina were doing better for a few weeks, and now it's back to the constant nasty remarks (mostly from Tina). Sheesh.

joy n said...

Why is Dallas screwing up this late in the game?

Petals said...

Maybe this wont be an elimination leg.

Petals said...

oh oh ohhh.... this dance will be fun-NY! If they dance as badly as they march...

joy n said...

Please let the frat boys screw up as usual.

Delee said...

Here comes the dancing LOL

Donna in Alabama said...

Maybe Tina is PMSing!

Unknown said...

Oh, this speed bump was meant for the Frats! Thank you, producers!

Donna in Alabama said...

A speed bump tailored for Dan to mess up!

Sydney said...

How could people just give them money? we never hear the contestants say they are doing a race for a million dollars to rush people -- are they allowed to?

Delee said...

Nyet

joy n said...

A lot of screwing up today.

joy n said...

I have a feeling this ending will be a nail-biter tonight!

Petals said...

you know, it's good that Toni didn't flip-out on Dallas. I would have. I'd have kicked him in the babuscka!

Unknown said...

Nick and Starr look like rocket-scientists compared to the others tonight.

Petals said...

all these trips together... I bet they'll have a nice honeymoon.

joy n said...

YEA! Nick and Starr are first.

They're in the F3!

Unknown said...

Eww, Petals! Now you're skeeving me out, too!

joy n said...

If this is an elim, Dallas and Toni are in deep you-know-what!

Sydney said...

C'mon TOni and Dallas!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sydney said...

I thought the same thing Petals -- lol

And how is it that people just keep giving them money??? Really, why is that? because they have TV cameras with them?

Unknown said...

Oh, this is just a tease for us to think that Dallas and Tony have a chance! I'm gonna cry :(

joy n said...

Do you believe this? Dan and Andrew are in! Tina and Ken have to go back to get a clue!

This is nerve-wracking!

Toni and Dallas have to beg for money again!

Petals said...

I think you're right Clementine..a tease. T&D will be Philiminated. :(

Sydney said...

OK, I can barely stand it that the frat boys are in.

My husband is saying they got there so they deserve it... as I was just saying that I didn't want Nick and Star to win but if they did they deserved it for coming in first so many times. So then he used that against me regarding Beavis and Butthead. How dare he! :-)

joy n said...

As much as I wanted to see Dan and Andrew leave tonight, I'd rather see Ken and Tina go rather than Dallas and Toni. It's gonna take a miracle.

Anonymous said...

In the *history* of the Amazing Race, has someone messing up the clue EVER had it come back to bite them in the asterisk? I am thinking, no. It is always just TPTB attempt :::cough::: to create drama that otherwise wouldn't be there. @@

Predictable at best, boring at worst.

Petals said...

Un believable. Who would've thought that the frats would be in the final three?

joy n said...

Man, they tried so hard. I feel so bad for them. What nice people they are!

Donna in Alabama said...

Damn!

Unknown said...

Syd: doesn't your hubby know that we here at Jackie's blog decide who is worthy of final three? lol

Frats: "Bring it awwn!"

Ugh, I hope the other two hop a plane and leave them in the dust.

Go, Nick and Starr!!

joy n said...

Now I will root 100 per cent for Nick and Starr all the way!

Unknown said...

Uh-oh. In the previews, the frats are promising their cab driver $500 if he goes fast. Teams usually aren't that reckless with their money until they're headed to the final pit-stop. Please don't let that be an omen.

joy n said...

It was a very sad ending tonight. Hope next week's will be a lot more cheerful. The finale, at last!

Sydney said...

Clem -- i hope you're not right but I think you may be!

Anonymous said...

so sad to see toni and dallas go...hope if there's another all-star team they get to be on it...

Sydney said...

Petals -- Not going to see Twilight. I loved Ann Rice's vampires but hated the movie of Lestat (sorry, Cruise was the wrong casting imho). But did see another vampire movie that I still can't get off my mind. Let the Right One In.... swedish arthouse film. Heard of it?

So sad tonight. I was thinking the show must have been calling the cab company and we didn't see that part. I would hate to be in Russia without a passport! The camera guy took a photo of the missed bag, and couldn't alert Dallas, but maybe did let someone else know. Phil looked as sad as I felt at the ending.

Petals said...

I've read about it, it never came to my town. I didn't like TC in Interview, either. Julian Sands was who Anne had in mind, and I agree.

I'm waiting for Revolutionary Road.

Terry is a Texan! said...

I cant stand it, toni & Dallas out? Im sick

Laurie said...

Halfway thru the show on the west coast. I just have to say that Tina is a woman with serious issues. I think I said that a few weeks ago but I'm okay repeating myself. That business of "you owe me" seems to be the way she lives her life. Keeping score will kill a relationship. Her husband should run, run, run as fast as he can. She will never be happy!

Laurie said...

Guess I'm a Nick and Star fan now, too. I can't take it if either of the other teams win. Seriously, I'll have a fit or throw something or trip!

PDX Granny said...

Boo Hoo!

I find it hard to say the frat boys "deserve" to be in the final 3 just because they're there. Toni & Dallas played so much smarter for the entire game. It was just the luck of the draw that it had to be this leg that they messed up royally on. At least they did make it in first at least once!!

Laurie, you'll have to watch real close next week. If I understand correctly, the pit stop is just a couple blocks from the hotel you stayed in.

Anonymous said...

Of course the "Frat Boys" deserve to be in the final three. They have completed the same tasks as everyone else - not with any particular skill or smarts, granted. But hey, its about not being the last team to the pit stop, not how good(or in their case bad) you look getting there.

Jennasmom said...

Sorry, but I am still going to have to root for Ken & Tina -- but only because they are my team! He's fine, but her....eeeww! Hey, Karen, we're still in it!

Petals, I like your lamp, too. I actually bought my brother one of those lamps for his office one Christmas. That's his all-time favorite movie. Way up there on my list, too. "You'll shoot your eye out!"

dla said...

Well, good grief. Who saw that one coming??

Not really a fan of any of the final three, so should be interesting.

Anonymous said...

oh jeez...
i've always loved this show and secretly yearned to be a participant (alas, i'm not in the best shape to be running around the globe) but i think this year i would've kept right with them all! i've never seen so many mis-read clues, wrong directions and stupid mistakes like leaving your shoes or passports behind!...i wonder if it was as frustrating for phil as it was for the rest fo us to watch?

Anonymous said...

pdxgranny, I think you hit it when you said the Frats were there because of the 'luck of the draw'. Their luck was to be last on a non-elim round, that was just luck...like being dealt the winning hand in cards and not having to show any skill at it.

But in the real race, the one of attitude and family, Dallas and his mom are way ahead of Tina in anything they do. Toni handled it all much better than I would have.

I usually agree with the 'if you are there at the end, you deserve to be philosophy', but I am thinking the frats are a couple of jokers who are mixing up the pack.

lynn1 said...

Go Starr & Nick!
I am sick that Toni & Dallas were Philiminated. I was cheering for them to make it to the final 3 teams.
One thing I don't understand is that when they got to the lady with the Pony she refused to give them the clue because they had not come by Taxi. They had to go back to where they were supposed to get the Taxi, then come back by Taxi to the lady with the pony.
I thought that in previous legs of the race when other teams took the wrong transportation or messed up their instructions they were penalized at the pit stop by having to wait 30 minutes not go back and redo the task correctly.
I guess I am grasping at straws because I am so disaappointed that Toni and Dallas won't be in this final leg of the race.
Someone else had posted that the Frat boys do deserve to be in the final 3 because they have completed the tasks just like all the other teams. I understand that and agree but I am still disappointedthat Toni and Dallas won't be competing for the final leg.
I will be sad if the Frat boys win it all. They have been responsible for many of their mistakes and teams who have excelled in the challenges make one or 2 mistakes and lose.
I think I would just as soon have the Frat boys win as Ken and Tina. She is such a PITA. I think they will end up in divorce court. She will no doubt try to take Ken's share of the million should they win it.
Oh well such is life and The Amazing Race.
I am glad my assigned team has a shot. I think I can speak for my teammate meb when I say there is plenty of room on Team Nick And Starr if any of you want to join us next week to cheer them on to victory.

Anonymous said...

I should add to my comment about the frats staying, that I thought...and I hated it...that leaving the very important bag in the cab was a mistake big enough to make Dallas and his mom be elimiated. That might be one of the biggest mistakes every on the Race. The luck part is that the frats always seem to be at the end no matter how much they bumble through everything. They are there because of other people's mistakes. And, they could have been dancing all night, if it had been a real challenge and not a token one.

I am looking forward to Survivor this week.

KarenJC said...

Jennasmom - I guess we have to cheer Ken and Tina on for the finale. I was sad Toni and Dallas were philiminated. Their exit interview was so emotional.

Laurie - I agree with you re Tina - keeping score doesn't work in a relationship especially one you are trying to fix! At least she agreed she needs to find some patience.

Oh well. Hey - my wv is dhope - maybe Toni and Dallas can come back? lol

Anonymous said...

Laurie - I have two ponies you're welcome to have! :-)

It totally sucks that Toni & Dallas are out. I was so pulling for them after Ken & Tina missed the last clue. If Nick & Star don't win I'll be really pi55ed!!

p.s. My word verification is 'unatic'. Is that when only one person goes nuts?

joy n said...

A good one, Orkmommy! Unatic! LOL

RBennie said...

Hi Everyone. Wow it feels like forever since I've been able to check in. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I was so sorry to see Toni & Dallas go home. It's amazing, somehow Dan & Andrew have fumbled and bumbled their way to the finals. I think something seriously major will have to go wrong for Nick & Starr to lose. My prediction is that they will win easily.

Sydney - any suggestions on what to give my bosses - 3 men and 1 woman. I have worked with them for several years and have run out of ideas on what to get them.

Anonymous said...

It's December....Yikes!! I'm glad I have most of my shopping done and the decorations are up.

I, too am in shock that the frat boys are still there....and they are MY team! It's funny that I ended up with them and Suzie(on Survivor), both should have been gone long ago. I think they are all still in their games because of luck and circumstance! I guess all I can say is....."GO DANDREW"....while secretly hoping Nick and Starr win!

Orkmommy--loved the unatic...you may have created a new word and meaning!!

So no DWTS tonight....what am I going to watch!?

OFF TOPIC: I talked to Sharon's husband today and the report was not good. She is still in the hospital and continues to have complications. Please remember her in your prayers.

A belated thanks Zoe for the Thanksgiving graphic. It was really cute and exactly how I felt by the end of the day!

Menopause had me awake at 3a.m. today so I am off to take a nap!

OFF TOPIC -- X-mas gift suggestions

RBennie -- I will write you with some suggestions. Have you checked out my blog Looky Here with all kinds of gift ideas? Adding more every day...

Who else asked me for a suggestion? DOnna in AL did and I wrote back to her but someone else did too! Let me know if you're reading -- It's my pleasure to help!

Sydney said...

Correction -- Jennasmom is who I wrote an answer to

Donna in AL I just found yours is the one I didn't answer! Sorry for the delay, I will write you by tomorrow morning!

Sorry to take up space with this Jackie. You are a good Santamarian to let us!

Couldn't get on to blog until now. Had trouble with aol... anyway... Lynn1 our Nick and Starr are still in it. And I too welcome all who would like to root for them to win.

I also was so upset to see Toni and Dallas be eliminated. I cried along with them at the end. So sad, but what an experience they have had running the race.

So sad to hear about Sharon not doing well. She was always so upbeat when she was posting here. I miss her comments and am praying for her and her family.

I have nothing to add, (except to say HI Jackie) but saw it was 99 comments and wanted it to get to 100. Whooo!

Reality TV World has a great interview with Dallas and Toni that answers some of our questions about the last episode. It's a long one but worth reading. Only his passport was lost. He explains how and why it got left in the cab. It was turned in to the American Embassy, but too late for them to appear at the end of the finale show. He explains about why no departure times were mentioned at start of show. Also, he and Starr have been dating 6 months now. Anyway, lots of interesting facts in the article.

In other news from RTVW, it was announced that The Amazing Race 14 will premiere on Feb.15 and Survivor's next season premieres on Feb. 12. Yippie!

Anonymous said...

Joyn..what a great find in that article on Dallas and Toni. Here is one little clip of it that I liked (and the link) :
(if they had made it to the pit stop before Tina)
"Toni: But we wouldn't have had a passport and we wouldn't have continued, and we wouldn't have met the people that we met begging on the street, and we probably would have thought that Russian people were horrible and we found out that they weren't. There was a lot of things that we learned by that process so I'm not pissed off by anything. I think everything happened the way it needed to happen and we learned a lot from it."

Happy Wednesday! Did anyone catch The Biggest Loser last night? I thought it was an entertaining two hours, and I actually forgot (for two hours) how much I intensely dislike a couple of them this season...

I sure hope it does not end up all Blue in the finale. I was sad to see Renee voted off the ranch. :(

Go MICHELLE!!

joy n said...

VARIETY says that E.R.'s finale is scheduled for March 12. I keep hearing that George Clooney will be on it.

KarenJC said...

dla - I just finished watching my tape of The Biggest Loser - I believe the network changed how Vicki comes across after all the people blogging about her horrible behavior. It was so emotional with Renee and Michelle, I cried with them - Renee really is a beautiful woman, and Michelle is just so strong emotionally. Anyway - I saw on the preview of next week that they have America voting someone off - that's so absurd. Hopefully it's not Michelle. Don't know why Vicki didn't vote Ed off. I agree with you -- Go Michelle!

RBennie said...

I think America deciding who goes home will help Michelle on Biggest Loser. Otherwise the other 3 will just gang up on her and vote her out.

KarenJC said...

but don't you think they've changed the rules so much to help with the outcome they want? such as letting the couple decide which one to leave, and also changing in the middle to go to immediate voting so there wasn't any discussion, especially when Amy needed to change her vote from her team?

Anonymous said...

Way back on this post we were speaking of The Christmas Story. I like to send our son, his wife and girls a pre Christmas gift..something to enjoy before the big day. Last year I sent the Christmas Story Monopoly set. It sounds like fun to me. : )

dla said...

Vicky is my least favorite Big Loser player of all time. Without a doubt. She is playing the game like it is Big Brother, and not in a positive way. She is almost enough to make me stop watching, but, fortunately, I do like several of them enough to tune in to see how they are doing.

Karen, that is interesting food for thought. I had initially thought that maybe the production team moved to the immediate group deliberation to prevent the Blue team from their shenanigans in pressuring everyone to vote as a "team" or "block" of votes vs. doing what was in their heart...

We would have had a completely different game if Amy had held her guns and voted out Vicky when she had the chance, and before Vicky turned the tables and voted her out the following week.

Does anyone else think that Jillian has become even more brutal this season?? She is a good trainer in that she knows her stuff, but she certainly would not get a positive reaction from me with all the screaming. Maybe it is just me.

Anonymous said...

So who do you think is getting and giving a marriage proposal on Survivor tonight?

Margo

My guess would be Charlie and Marcus - but they are in the jury. I don't think anybody wants Corrine. Maybe the family and friends show up to night so it is an outsider asking.

Anonymous said...

I think Crystal is getting a proposal from her BF at home. Looks like they get a video from family members so that may be where it comes from. There are no couples on the show so it can't be that.

Ohhhh, I just had a thought...maybe family members to come and Matty proposes to his GF. He always talks about doing this for her......

Hopefully I can get the EC feeds.

My wv is reccess....that's what I need from all this Christmas choas!

Hi guys! I haven't had time to check in today...it's been CRAZY!!

I just wanted to let you know that my mom was in an accident yesterday. She's fine, but her car is totaled. I wrote about it and have some pics if you're interested. For those of you who have been around for a while, she was known as "Barbwire".

Send her happy thoughts!!!

joy n said...

Orkmommy, I do send a bunch of happy thoughts for your mom.

You would think that the mom would be setting the example of concern instead of the 12-year-old. Maybe she'll take a cue from him once they settle down and realize how lucky they ALL are to still be alive and kicking.

Barbwire, hope all your aches and pains leave you quickly.
