Winter Freakin' Wonderland ... and TV Stuff

Sure, yesterday we were near 70 degrees and look at tonight! I didn't bring either my hat or gloves because they weren't calling for snow. Above is the Plainfield Train Station and below is a nearby street. As I type this, we now have about an inch on the ground.

Since both Survivor and Amazing Race have wrapped up, I want to thank both ORKMommy and RBennie for running the pools in the comments area. You both added a fun dimension to the seasons here and it's very appreciated!

Tonight is a fairly quiet TV night for me. Leverage (good show) is on TNT at 10 PM ET/PT. However, it's one of the ones I've already seen in the press kit screeners. I might check out Momma's Boys, a new reality show on NBC at 10 PM ET/PT. It has the mothers of men living with romance contestants for said men. It sounds like fuel for brouhahas for me! The Biggest Loser has its finale tonight, but I've never watched it. At 9 PM ET/PT, there's a new Mentalist on. I might try to fit in my two recorded Bonnie Hunt Shows and David Letterman from last night as I went to bed early and recorded it.

Gack. Even on a quiet TV night, too much TV, too little time! What will you be watching?

Tonight's musical non sequitur:
Jackie is just speeding away
Thought she was James Dean for a day
Then I guess she had to crash
Valium would have helped that dash
She said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
I said, hey honey, take a walk on the wild side
-- 'Walk On the Wild Side" by Lou Reed

You should have watched the weather, Jackie. We have snow tonight and then rain and freezing rain Weds. Just hope next Tues eve is dry as my kids are coming up for Christmas.

Oops forgot to say I like the picture of your falling snow near the train station.

I did watch it this morning. We were only supposed to get rain. I had my umbrella! :-)

Hi Jackie -- I am sorry you forget your gloves and hat, but I still envy you your snow. I am watching Biggest Loser at the moment and they are just about to announce the winner!

Please don't think me catty, but thos show has stylists of some kind. When people lose this much weight, there can be lots of gravity issues. There are good, supportive undergarments out there that the stylist should have put on Heba under her black cocktail dress. I am just amazed they didn't.

My eyes! My eyes!

On a serious note, these folks have worked so hard and look do great. Kudos to all.

Jackie, we had a similar weather problem yesterday. We knew we had a chance for ice, but it was to happen about five hours later than when it showed up. Like you, we were prepared for what was supposed to be instead of what was. Darn weather. I am glad you made it home safely and hope you are getting warm.

All snug at home with my blankie and my cup of split pea soup (yum!). I just finished watching Charlie Brown Christmas for the zillionth time.

"..and on earth peace, good will toward men. That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."

Linus gets me every time (sniffle).

I wish someone would offer to wrap all my gifts. Because they don't seem to be wrapping themselves :)

I will be snuggling down with The Biggest Loser and Housewives of OC tonight...

Clementine, I would happily wrap your gifts for you if I was there! I LOVE to wrap up beautiful gifts, and most of my friends & family do not live near, so I have hardly any opportunities for that anymore. :)

Dla pass the ribbons please. I'll come over too Clementine!

Can we listen to the soundtrack of the Charlie Brown Christmas while we wrap? That is my favorite Christmas CD (thought the Johnny Mathis one with Marshmallow World is a close second)

Jackie, I hadn't thought about that song in YEARS! Now I'll be singing it the rest of the week! LOL

Didn't get to watch anything on tv tonight. Our church hosted a Parents' Night Out, so we dropped off the kid and my husband and I actually went out to dinner. Came home & watch the 10 o'clock news that I had recorded to see what our weather is doing.

Sunday I had on summer clothes & flip flops - in the 80s. Monday a.m. that front hit south Texas & it has been COLD here. Freezing drizzle, and we never got out of the 30s. Today warmed up to 41. Hey, we aren't used to this stuff down here! Don't even know where my heavy coat & gloves are. Haven't worn them in years! We've already had a dusting of snow a week ago. It's not supposed to snow here! Where's that global warming? I'm ready for it!

It's supposed to be nice here today, 60's ... but it was cold yesterday, 30's... We have our grand opening (finally) at the club with the Chamber of Commerce today at 1:00p. I have my chemo today too, so I'm hoping I'll get to the opening in time for the picture. LOL

By the way, the shot they've been giving me (which I've never had to have before) had me bent over like a 110 year old this morning. The doc said take tylenol and you better believe I did. He said your bones will hurt and I couldn't imagine what he meant... well now I know. I'm good tho.. the tylenol worked and it's in my purse. I will go nowhere without it!

Later...

Thanks meb, for letting us know before you start out on your day. We worry and want to hear. Your days are full every day, it sounds like. I hope you make the photo op!

Oh and Jackie, I forgot to mention. I love the title of this post, and it fits for me, too. Freakin' Cold. : )

Sydney - my eyes, my eyes, we were saying the same at our house. We couldn't believe she didn't have any support under that dress! She certainly changed a lot but I did not want her to win the $100k. Oh well, at least Michelle took it! It was an all female win too! Vickey wasn't almost human, but did you hear her admit that they had a conference call and Phil gave her advice? I want to hear more - they all looked great - but the next show looks near death!

We had ice rain in MD too last night, was going to go shopping, but didn't want to be out there with the people who don't know how to drive. Happy Wrapping folks - have a great day...

I'm so glad Michelle won Biggest Loser last night! She looks fabulous. I really didn't want Vicky to win. How funny was it when she tried to walk down the steps in that too tight dress and sky high heels? The amount of weight these people lose is amazing. I remember some kind of reunion show they had last year that showed people from past seasons and how they look now. For the most part, they all still looked great.

Don't even get me started on the weather...

We got a few inches yesterday and the drive home was horrible. My daughter got a sled for her birthday over the weekend and wasn't able to try it out because our snow melted in the rain on Sunday so I was in the yard at 6:30 last night with a flashlight letting her try it out on a tiny 3 foot hill. She loved it, but it sucked for me!!

Meb, so sorry to hear you had crappy day with that shot. Hope the Tylenol keeps on working for ya.

Our weather pretty much sucks here too. A nasty drive this AM with ice under about 4-5 inches of snow, but the plows and ice trucks got it pretty cleaned up before rush hour.

joy n said...

I meant salt trucks. Oh, the gray matter aint what she used to be.

Clementine and Sydney, please come and wrap my presents! Hubby was sick for two weeks and now I have the bug. We have our family Christmas this weekend, so I have to get so much done. I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO BE SICK!!! Not only that, but it is colder than a well diggers behind here!

I want to thank Orkmommy and RBennie too! IT really did add a lot and it is something that I'm looking forward to for the next BB. That said, I hope it's not on in the winter. Jackie or anyone: Have we heard anything about a winter season? Would we have been seeing ads by now if so?

Hi everyone! I was thrilled to see Michelle win TBL, and not as thrilled to see Heba win the 100K. I was thrilled, however, that America got it right, and voted Ed into the finale. :)

And, Syd, that dress, that dress! Arghhh! Have none of the ladies heard of Spanx?? And pushing the girls back up where they belong? lol

Not to mention they really need to change the entrance and do away with the large steps that had most of the girls nearly tripping onto the stage.

Nevada weather update: We had the biggest snow storm in 40 or 50 years here today, and I got about 8inches of snow at my house in Henderson.... I'm movin' to Hawaii! This is for the birds!

meb said...

Yes orkmommy and rbennie... thanks for the extra bit of fun it added for rooting on your favorite. And orkmommy/jennasmom (Bob) and lynn1 and I (Nick and Starr) won the pools. YAY.

Loving your pictures of the snow and can't wait to see the kale when the snow is gone.

Becky sorry you're sick, and at such an inopportune time with company coming. Bummer!

RBennie said...

Thanks for the praise guys, but I really can't take the credit. I just blatantly copied the idea from Orkmommy. Thanks Orkmommy, adding the pool element really did make both shows that much more enjoyable. What do you guys think of doing a Big Brother pool? I think that would really be a hoot!
