American Idol - The Top 13 Sing

Jackie's TV Blog, American Idol

Well, tonight was the big night for the American Idol hopefuls. The Top 13 took the stage. I have to give them all credit -- I couldn't do it. Of course, I have the kind of singing voice which should be confined to the shower or in a car with all the windows rolled up. In other words, my singing is on par with many of those going through the auditions for American idol. I make up for my lack of singing talent with my mad dance moves.

Er ... um ... okay. I can't dance well either. Never mind.

As for the show, I think this season has the best talent with the fewest clunkers of any season so far. Actually, I don't think there are any real clunkers (thinking to past seasons with kids like Sanjaya, etc.). I was disappointed with Anoop's performance tonight although he's shown he can sing well in the past. Why he chose Beat It beats me! There's not much that can be done with that song and not have it sound like Karaoke Night.

Although his style isn't my cuppa, Adam Lambert snagged the winning comments of the night. I just remember the uproar about Fantasia being a single mother a few seasons back. Adam's past is a bit racier with gay male porn doings. I'm kind of surprised that he made it through all the screening with what's available about him on the web and the squeaky clean image of Idol.

I don't care that the judges didn't care all that much for Megan Joy Corkrey. There's something about her voice and performances which make me smile. I'm not saying I'd run out and buy a record, but I enjoy listening to her and watching her little Meganisms.

All in all, the talent was showing tonight. Two will be going home tomorrow. I fear Anoop will be one of them. With him ...? I just don't know. Maybe Kris Allen, but he has teen fans. Megan? Jasmine? Hmmm.

They'll be announcing a rules change which will definitely affect the show on tomorrow's result show. Vote for the Worst might have to go out of business. From the rumors I've seen, it looks like the judges are also going to have a say in who stays and who goes. They could be false rumors, but we'll see.

Oh. When I went to Vote for the Worst to get the link, they're pushing the vote for Megan. I don't care. She makes me smile.

I agree, Megan makes me smile, too.
Plus she is one of the only finalists, except Anoop, who is new to the big stage and has not sung much in public. I like that aspect as well.

Allison just blows me away with her talent being so mature for someone who is only 16. She reminds me of a young Grace Slick or Young Pat Benatar.

And I think Lil has the potential to be another Fantasia or perhaps someday, on the level of Jennifer Hudson. But Jennifer will always be my favorite Idol Contestant of all time..from the first time I heard her..her voice..amazed me.

Adam is so talented and Danny draws in the audience. I agree, it is a good season so far.

Sorry guys, but I don't care for Megan. Just don't think she has the voice to stay.

I hope Anoop has a good enough following to keep him on one more week because he CAN sing and I would hate to see him go without a chance. He thought he was doing what the judges wanted. They certainly can be confusing at times.

What's with Paula already. She was fine for the auditions all the way through, but last night there was something off about her. Could have been her hair, but that shouldn't have anything to do with her mouth.

I really like Adam, but didn't know he was a proponent of porn. Shades of James from BB... and he didn't get very far once out of the house. Let's see how well Adam does. Hope he can overcome any negatives that might be out there about him.

I liked the Puerto Rico (name?) young man. He sings well and I hope he's given a chance to show what he can do.

I have no clue as to who may go home...they were mostly all good.

Oh, and I have to change my mind about Jasmine... I thought she did a great job last night.

I haven't had a chance to watch yet but the rumblings I hear is Anoop may go home. I hope not I like him.

Off Topic-

I put the DWTS match ups on the DWTS post.

Meb, I agree about Paula, but I think it was the feathers. That dress did not need those, maybe she is allergic and does not know it! LOL

I taped it watched this morn. I like Adam, I like a very good rocker!

I don't think Anoop will go. Remember that it's positive voting for AI, so those with the small fanbases are susceptible.

I think that means 2 of Jorge, Kris, and Alexis will go. Alexis will suffer because her voting phone number was IDOLS 36 and not IDOLS 13. I'm surprised you didn't pick up on that. It'll have an effect here. What's up with a rule change? First I've heard that.

I don't get the hype for Adam. He can sing, but gets screechy and over the top. He isn't my pick.

For me, the ideal final four would be Danny, Allison, Lil, and Matt / Alexis. Okay, so it is a final five. I do think it is Danny's to lose.
