LOST: Thirty-Second Review - "Namaste"

Jackie's TV Blog, Lost

Yep, yet another blog logo from our favorite Zoetawny! On last night's LOST, things moved forward a bit. At least we're in 1977! Here's the quick lowdown --
  • Ben and Sun were with the plane and Lapidus when it went down on an island near our main nutty island. We already know the others landed separately (somehow).
  • Sawyer and Juliet rigged it so that it looked like Jack, Kate, and Hurley were new Dharma recruits from the submarine which arrives every six months.
  • We saw Ethan as a new baby.
  • Ben's about 12, maybe a bit older, on the island. I personally wonder what happens when worlds collide -- adult Ben meets child Ben. Will the universe fall off its axis or something?
  • Sayid was wandering through the woods handcuffed. Jin had to act like he was a hostile and capture him due to a Dharma dude witness. So, Sayid is being held in a cell.
  • Sun said she trusted Ben would lead her where she wanted to go (to join Jin), but she didn't. She whacked him with a log and took off with Lapidus for the main island.
  • Under spooky circumstances, Sun and Lapidus meet Jack's father, Christian. He shows them a picture of the 1977 recruits which includes Jack, Kate, and Hurley.
  • Sun and Lapidus are not in 1977.
And that's that. Oh, there's a very suspicious Dharma guy. I think he knows something is hinky with the new arrivals.

My favorite moment was Sun hitting Ben. I didn't like this episode as much as I have the others from this season.

And Sizzie... I loved this episode... I enjoyed Jack not minding that Sawyer is the big cheese now. I don't think Jack ever wanted to be "in charge" so to speak.

Loved Sun knocking Ben out. Trying to remember if this would have been before John saw him in that makeshift hospital after the plane crash and he said "He's the one who killed me", or if I'm mixing everything up.

I also loved Sayid meeting Ben. I wish Jin and Sawyer could have told him something to make him feel less threatened, and it appears he is in trouble in the next episode, even from Sawyer.

Not going to like Sawyer if he gets involved with Kate, cause I like Juliette with him and he would be a snake if he hurts her.

Can't wait for next episode.

Oh... wanted to say: Zoetawny... loved the graphic. Hope your back is getting better. I've had those episodes where I had no idea how I hurt myself, moved the wrong way and didn't remember it...something like that. Be careful you don't sit at the computer too long and aggravate it. Hope you have some muscle relaxers.

Hi all! Love the graphic Zoetawny!

Becky and I commented a little on the Lost blog on Jackie's sidebar while it was on.

I loved the show. I don't think Jack likes that Sawyer can tell him what to do, JMO.

I like Juliet and Sawyer together too. I don't want Kate messing things up with them. Juliet's look has changed some, she looks softer and smiles more. She is really pretty when she smiles. Sawyer too. He looks even better now.

Now that they are back on the island, why does it need saving? Are they supposed to stop Ben from killing all the Darma inititive?

Great Graphic Zoetawny!
As usual I have lots of theories running through my head.

meb, I think Ben was in the make shift hospital as a result of Sun hitting him in the head.

Jackie I wondered too about child Ben and Adult Ben crossing paths but I feel that might not be possible.

Donna in AL I don't think they can keep Ben for killing the Dharma folks because that would change history and supposedly they can not do that.
It does seem like Sawyer and Juliette have changed history just by being a part of the Dharma program for at least 3 years.

I wonder what jobs Hurley and Kate were assigned.
I thought it was interesting if not significant that Kate placed in the House next to Sawyer and Juliette.

I am intrigued by the recurring themes and plots that have to do with fathers.
Jack and Christian
Kate and her step father whom she killed
Hurley and his dad with the car
Sun and her father
John Locke and his father with the kidney
Ben and his father blaming him for the death of the mother/wife
Jin being ashamed of his father and dealings with Sun's father
Claire with Christian Sheppard
Charlie with wanting to be a father to Aaron
Desmond and Penny with her father, Charles whidmore
Walt and Micheal had father son issues
The only 2 I don't see a father issue with is Sayid and Sawyer.

I just read what you guys blogged while the show was on.

I don't think it was Sun who beat up Ben before they boarded the plane. I still believe it was Penny.
My reasoning behind this is the first time we saw Ben all beat up he was calling Jack to ask him to go pick up John's body and get it to the plane.
Ben was talking on a pay phone (do they still exist??) and he was at a Marina with lots of big boats in the background.
I am pretty sure that Penny and Desmond lived on a big boat. They were in Los Angeles because Desmond was trying to deliver a message to Eloise Hawkins from her Son Daniel Faraday.
I think Ben killed or attempted to Kill Penny. I think this is what will force Desmond back to the Island to seek revenge against Ben.

Can you tell I am obsessed with this show? LOL
I think it is time for me to return to my padded room & to take my MEDS...Just kidding

I was very wrong about the baby being Hurley. Creepy Ethan as an infant is boggling. : ) I have either forgotten Hurley's connection to the island or it hasn't been revealed..other than the numbers, of course. Will he meet himself?

meb, I like the kinder, gentler Juliette and Sawyer, too. I think that is what I didn't like about the episode. Sawyer was slipping back a little. But, he had a good line when he told Jack, "you reacted, I think'. Jack seemed smaller in the type of shirt they gave him, so I am sure we were supposed to feel his diminished role in the time where he found himself. There either wasn't a 1978 group photo or our guys weren't in it, since Christian picked out the particular one. That scene was good to show the time lapse the two sets are in.

Christian is sort of the Rod Serling character..introducing Sun and the pilot to their world. I forgot to add earlier. : )

Lynn1, don't take your meds or scamper back to the padded room yet. I love your insight to the show. I am still bumbling around trying to find my way.

Where are the other friends that were left behind on the island? I thought that was why the six came back, not just for Sawyer, Juliet and the Korean guy (can't remember his name).

Donna and I commented last Wednesday about how quickly an hour of being Lost goes by. Guess you could say we lose track of time.

With that bad pun I will check out. Looking forward to more comments.

(Oh, and my favorite was Sun hitting Ben too.)

Hey, Everyone. Did you make the trip okay?

Strange that Sayide (how do you spell his name?) was so gentle as a child and was turned into a killer in the service.

Donna in Alabama said...

and Ben was manipulative (sp) as a child

Anonymous said...

Hey, Donna! Thought I was all by myself.

Who was Horace previously?

Donna in Alabama said...

Got no idea, Becky.

Anonymous said...

I always get a kick out of Sawyer's nicknames he calls people.

I hope he and Juliet stay together.

Donna in Alabama said...

The Oceanic 6 lives changed back home over three years. Why are they so unwilling to accept things are different on the island than 3 years ago.

I'm not talking about the difference in time but just that relationships have not remained the same.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Lynn or Sizzie will have an idea.

Lynn, are you there?

I am taping Criminal Minds.

Donna in Alabama said...

I hope they stay together too, Anon.

Donna in Alabama said...

That's Ben's father.

Anonymous said...

Who's the bully? Maybe Ben's father?

Anonymous said...

Donna, I forgot to put my name. I was Anonymous.

Was tent guy?

Anonymous said...

That should have been who is the tent guy?

Donna in Alabama said...

I don't remember tent guy before. Sawyer said he was their Sayid.

Donna in Alabama said...

They are not going to believe a word out of Sayid's mouth! He will be their "Space Man" like "Life on Mars"

Ah, the girl who went on the plane with Ben. Wonder if Ben hired her?

Anonymous said...

Donna, I think you were correct. They didn't believe him.

Anonymous said...

I wonder who will kill the dipstick Resenke or whoever.

I guess the fertility problem developed after all the others were killed.

Donna in Alabama said...

Isn't the girl in the bar the one that had Sayid in handcuffs and went on the plane with him?

Donna in Alabama said...

Sawyer or little Ben will probably slip Sayid a knife or key to his handcuffs or something so he can defend himself.

I think the fertility thing happened when the big statue on the shore was busted or knocked over.

Donna in Alabama said...

I knew it!

Anonymous said...

Donna, yes she was the one on the plane with him.

Wonder who set the vehicle on fire?

Darn, the hour is almost over! Time flys when you're having fun or wandering around Lost.

Anonymous said...

WOW! Didn't see that coming! I may check out the untangle.com

Donna in Alabama said...

Holy Shit!! didn't see that one coming!!

meb said...

So Sayid is there to save Ben... Knowing what he knows about Ben, why would he be willing to save him? But then, it's probably the only way he's going to get out of his situation.

So Ben set the van on fire so he could get to Sayid. He was devious even as a child, but then they don't change their stripes usually do they.

I think it was Penny who scratched Ben up too. And I didn't recognize the girl in the bar as the one with Sayid in the plane. Missed that one.

Sawyer needs to get smarter if he's going to be the leader and keep Kate, Jack, etc. out of trouble. Giving up on Sayid was stupid. He needs to let Jack know there's a problem instead of being so secretive.

becky said...

Anybody here with me?

becky said...

Interesting! Wonder if Jack will cave and go save Ben? Am I talking to myself still?

becky said...

Well, I hope someone else show this show. It was mind blowing -- again. A lot of questions were answered.

lynn1 said...

Becky I watched Lost and agree many questions were answered tonight.
I am glad to know where Aaron is.
As usual I loved te show.

meb said...

OK... Glad to know where Aaron is. Now I get it why Sayid was willing to take Ben out of there, but it didn't work, since now the Others have him. And we know why Ben was so involved with the Others in the future.

We know what Sawyer whispered to Kate on the helicopter before he jumped. Got that answered.

Sawyer appears to be staying with Juliette instead of picking back up with Kate. He told Kate he had grown up some in the last three years. That's good.

Did Kate say she and Jack were engaged at some point? We didn't ever see that before did we?

"Gorgeous Eyes" (can't believe I've lost his name) carried Ben into the "Cabin"... so that's the first time Ben was in the cabin.

And we know why Ben didn't remember in the future that Sayid tried to kill him as a child. "GE" said he wouldn't remember anything of this if he took him and healed him.

Ben's father seemed concerned over Ben when he was shot. What happened to turn that around over the years to cause Ben to kill his father in the future. Unless his father was just putting on a show for Juliette.

Loved Ben's expression when he woke up and saw John sitting there by his bedside.

Great episode!

becky said...

Anyone here?

becky said...

It looks like Ben was not all bad in the beginning.

Meb, the guy with the gorgeous eyes is Richard Alpert. He is a very good looking man.

I sure hate I am sitting here by myself.

becky said...

So, now we know how Penny came into the pictue. And why Charles Whitmore disliked Ben so much.

I have to say it is much more fun when you have someone to chat with and exchange ideas with during the show.

becky said...

It looks like he was going to kill Penny because Charles killed Alex. He hesitated when Johnny, Penny's and Desmond's little boy cam up on deck. Ah, then Desmond attacked Ben before he could do what he intended. Desmond is the one who beat Ben up. He did tell John to tell Desmond that he was sorry. Can't believe it is over.

Donna in Alabama said...

I'm sorry Becky, I forgot to get on here. I was writing up an email after reading all of todays and forgot.

I could not believe the hour went by so fast.

Tonights episode was good. I can't get my head straight about how everyone is back before Ben killed the Dharma people and how the future turns out when the plane crashes. I'm not sure I even worded that right...haha

If Ben became an other at that young age, did he go back and still kill all the Dharma people and his father in the VW van?
