The Amazing Race - "Having a Baby's Got to be Easier Than This"

Jackie's TV Blog, Amazing Race, TAR

Yikes! We're down to the final four and the show is starting on time here! I'll be writing up my review on the episode later tonight for TV Squad, but important events will be posted here. As always, everyone is invited to hang out in the comments -- I hear it's an open bar this week. :-)

BTW - I hear it's blog commenter Sizzie's birthday ... I hope it's a great one!

ARGH! Jaime and Cara got to the Pit Stop first ... and the leg's not over. It's the "to be continued" episode.

Good luck to all contenders still in the race!!!

OH and I brought the drinks!!!

becky said...

I brought some extra throws in case anyone is too cold. Jackie, could you turn the AC on, please. I am from TX and we are hot blooded.

monty924 said...

I'll have whatever you're having Delee! I can't believe I'm actually watching in real time this week.

Jackie, loved reading all the newsy bits, especially that Roofus has found some other humans willing to feed her (or him).

Delee said...

In the 80's here, but a throw is always welcome!!! LOL

Jackie S. said...

Mid-90s here today. I'll pass on the throw, but will have a frozen strawberry margarita, please.

monty924 said...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sizzie! Happy birthday to you,
happy birthday to you,
happy birthday dear Sizzie,
happy birthday to you...
and many more!

Cheers!

Mom and don are going to burn up their energy hating on the sisters...

becky said...

Marge has become a PIA. I am finding her more offensive than the two cheerleaders -- so far. Luke is PMO too.

Laurie said...

Delee, I'll say you brought the drinks! If I start now I'll be totally sloshed by 8 pm here in California! I took today off but stopped at the store for some fresh mixed nuts, which seemed appropriate for us.

Sydney said...

And how it is it that they are in two different chinese speaking countries -- get no advantage for that one team, huh?

I bet they read on the one sisters application that she has a deadly fear of water and made that challenge to come this ep for some drama..

Sydney said...

Augh, no m ore foot talk, I'm eating dinner!!!

monty924 said...

Yeah, go redheads!

Delee said...

Jackie if you knew what a "throw" was you would REALLY want one!!! Trust me on that!!! HAHA

monty924 said...

Not my kind of massage, no way!

Sydney said...

Wow -- this is like childbirth!!

Sydney said...

Where is the whiskey?

Jackie S. said...

Our free foot massage booth is now open.

Delee said...

After all my foot surgeries I would not have been able to take that. Someone would have been punched big time!!!

monty924 said...

I have the feeling if I were to ask for a throw, my sweetie wouldn't like it. :-)

monty924 said...

Awww, Luke's doing the foot massage. Karma baby! Okay, that was bad!

Sydney said...

I don't like how much pleasure these masseuses are getting out of this. I wonder what toxins all that and the tea will release after on the rest of the race.

Sydney said...

DId I just hear THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE?

Sydney said...

YAY Monty! Can I join in singing Happy Birthday to SIZZIE with you????

Delee said...

Yes you did!!!

monty924 said...

Now this would be hard... either one of them. I couldn't do it!

Sydney said...

Michael Phelp's time? OK, that's a total joke.

Delee said...

If Phelps wore the suit do they get to smoke Mary Jane too?

Sydney said...

OK, something Vicotr and Tammy aren't good at.

monty924 said...

Impossible if you have that kind of fear of the water. This is horrible!

Delee said...

T and V might do better if they counted together insteaad of just jumping up and down before going.

Sydney said...

What a world of faces from the redhead. Guess it's easy to forget there's a camera in your face.

****
You think some of the teams count so both would go in the water at the same time!

Jackie S. said...

They should just step off at the count of three or something since they don't really have to dive.

monty924 said...

Okay, spit alert Delee. :)

becky said...

Deelee, she knows now or will. hehehe

I can't believe they would put something that was a contestants biggest fear in a competition where both have to do it.

I know if I had to go into a bird cage (like one in the past) I would tell my partner, sorry, but I am outta here.

I wonder if one could skip a task and just take a penalty at the end?

Delee said...

So sorry Monty...not

Sydney said...

Jackie -- I hear its hot hot hot in NYC. All my friends are complaining there. I sure do home you feel better soon. I haven't had a chance to read your last post so you may have mentioned something about that there.

monty924 said...

Come on reds!

Anonymous said...

Sydney, I had to go let my dog out. Who made that "they all look alike crack"?

Laurie said...

She didn't really go to the "they all look alike" did she?

Sydney said...

WOw, seems it would have been easier to just JUMP and land in the water at the same time. WHo knew this would be hard?

monty924 said...

Something will keep my team from winning this leg. I just know it, ugh!

I feel so bad for Keisha. That kind of fear is awful.

Delee said...

It was Kisha or Jen that said that

Sydney said...

becky said...

Count this time. They didn't. Oh, well, both of them are lawyers so they probably have more money than the others.

Sydney said...

They're smart, VBictor and Tammy. I guess they can't calculate the difference in height and body mass and count to get in the water at the same time?

Sydney said...

C'mon girl. It's for a million dollars! I know they are tired and the thing with Luke must have worn both fighting teams down but DON"T GIVE UP!!!!

becky said...

I think this is the end for Victor and Tammy.

I feel sorry for the the one afraid of the water. That is not even a fun competition to watch. Do they think we enjoy seeing that poor girl suffer?

What irritates me is that Margie and Luke will get a kick out of it.

I can't believe the girls would come out with something like that. I would have expected it from the cheerleaders.

monty924 said...

Totally off topic for TAR, but did anyone catch the 60 Minutes piece on the orphaned elephants? So touching and sad.

Delee said...

T/V will beat K/J to the Pit stop, but is the race continuing? We will know soon...

monty924 said...

I didn't catch it myself Becky, but it does sound like something my team would have said. I'll have to watch this one back tonight.

Jackie S. said...

Shouldn't tonight be a non-elim with the final four?

Sydney said...

Well, the big sister is being so nice. STOP CRYING!!!

Am I bad for not having more sympathy for the little sister now? Maybe it didn't go on as long as editing showed.... that's probably it.

And it's not nice for Margie and Luke to be berating them. I've read all over the internet that they were never as nice as the edit made them look. (Nice, now I'm doing what I accused Margie and Luke as doing,@@)

monty924 said...

Margie is getting really ugly in my opinion. Something I didn't expect when the race started out.

Go sisters! Finish the race and be proud of it.

becky said...

Sydney, I couldn't do it if I had to go into a pen of birds -- even for a million dollars. In fact, when we lived near Houston we took the kids to the zoo where they had just opened the aviary. DH insisted I go inside. The first bird flew past my face and I mowed down children, old people and pregnant ladies getting out of there. I had no control, I just reacted.

Sydney said...

oooh Jackie -- ya think?

Sydney said...

Oh, now it seems like Victor is getting the foot massage.

Sydney said...

I am terrified of water myself Becky -- love to be on it, near it, and even in it, but I am terrified for some unknown reason -- really, it's enough to make me believe there are past lives and something happened to me in it. I can swim fine and everything.

Delee said...

I knew it was going to continue!!!

Sydney said...

SO they don't win anything?

monty924 said...

Oh, good call Delee!

Delee said...

Good night all...back to Suzanne's party!!!

becky said...

Well, we won't know what will happen until next week. If T&V got a lousy cab driver, the sisters could catch up.

Laurie said...

"to be continued"....

Are you kidding me??

becky said...

Bye until Thursday for Survivor or tomorrow for DWTS.

Oh, looks like the sisters or T&V are all continuing.

monty924 said...

Looks like my team Nasty returns next week. Oh well, sigh! Off to watch Cold Case and the Sopranos after that. Thanks for the tip, Jackie.

Nite all!

I haven't read the comments yet, I just watched the show and then came here to talk about all the surprises in this episode and instead I have a surprise of my own. A mention of my birthday by Jackie ! Yay, Thank you !

I was having so much fun watching tonight, until the swimming. That was difficult. Then to be surprised at the end with a non stop race.

Now, I am going to read the comments.

Sydney said...

I asked my husband which team he was pulling for. He said the sisters or the redheads (I said haven't you seen how RUDE they were?) He then pointed out that Victor and Tammy have actually pulled some bad moves, telling people the wrong direction knowingly, and several times finagled things when speaking in Chinese. I guess he's right and I have no idea who I would be happy seeing win anymore.

And it started that we all were remarking how much we liked all the teams. I know they have to pull it out to be in this thing, it's a competition, so what do I expect?

I'm interested to know who you all are pulling for now.

Sydney said...

Monty -- I saw the elephant special. The lady gives them such top quality care, I am wondering how she is so well funded (and I'm glad she is!)

Jen and Keisha posted around 20 minutes for their swim. My heart went out to both of them for being in the water.

With the diving both teams seemed to get the idea and missed the Sync part. It didn't look like them even looked at each other when they jumped. It was a great facility, though. Glad we got to see it. We had a Natatorium in my hometown.

Tammy was very smart to have taken swimming lessons before going on the Race...I got the feeling that was why she did it, but maybe it was before they knew they were chosen for TAR. I always want teams to prepare before and seldom seem to.

All four teams have had their snarky moments. Most of T and V's were spoken in Chinese, so the other teams didn't kow.

I agree that Marge's attitude was hard to see tonight. She was encouraging the fuss to continue.

The cheerleaders brought their ugly mouths, but looked especially pretty tonight. Extra makeup?

Didn't the foot massage women have evil smiles? ! I know about pressure points, etc, but the teams didn't seem relaxed or improved from their 10 minutes in pain.

I know the Victor had just used his muscles from climbing and swimming and that could cause his leg cramp, but we always think of that as a sign of dehydration and I wanted him to get a drink of water to see if that helped.

Thank you Monty and Syd for good wishes.

Laurie said...

Sydney, I don't think I care who does or doesn't win at this point. Each team has good points and bad points about them, and I can only imagine how ugly I would be behaving if I got this far. Not that I would even start but you know what I mean.

I just hope that nothing foul happens before it's over and that we see good a good game until the end. 90 more minutes before we see the show here. I'm so glad to already know there is no end tonight!

becky said...

Sydney, I am with Laurie, at this point I do not care who wins. And it is a shame that things are getting ugly between the teams. I think this is the first year that none of us started out disliking any one team.

I think it is a shame that the show would edit one team to look so good and clean when they obviously acted just the opposite. If one site made this comment, I would have taken it with a grain of salt, but for several to state it, I tend to believe it.

PDX Granny said...

I haven't seen the show yet, but from reading all the comments, it should be interesting. I'm still watching the Blazer/Rocket game, so it'll still be a while.

I agree that it's hard to decide who to like anymore. I was glad my team was Margie and Luke, and very happy to cheer them on. I'll still cheer them on. After all, they ARE my team, but I'm not so happy about it any more. I just wish this competition didn't bring out the worst in everyone.

Laurie said...

It's 20 minutes into the show on the west coast and these foot massages are killing me. The faces on the women giving the massages are on the *evil* side. I would not be able to stand it or stand after it!

meb said...

I must have a mean streak in me somewhere, because I was laughing out loud with those feet massages. Tammy hardly made a sound while everyone else was crying, even Luke was having trouble.

I could not have done that. Anyone who comes near my feet are in real trouble. My grandchildren learned that at an early age. You don't mess with grand-mama's feet...she kicks.

I was surprised that this was a "To Be Continued" episode even tho they usually do that at the end.

Well, anxious to see who goes next week. I'm rooting for Victor and Tammy.

meb said...

I'm rooting for Victor and Tammy to stay... not anxious to see them go.

Just thought I'd clarify that.

Hi everyone!

Happy belated birthday to Sizzie!! I hope you had a beautiful day!

I watched last night West Coast time, and then fell asleep before I made it back here to read comments.

At this point, I also don't really care who wins, but I have to say that I am hoping that it is NOT Margie and Luke. I have not appreciated their game play, or lack thereof, for a few episodes. Never thought that I would be saying that, but that's the way I feel.

It is unusual, as I did not dislike any teams from the beginning... But I also don't find myself loving any teams at the end. ;(

I actually wish that Mike and Mel were still in the race. They were my personal favorites.

Anonymous said...

Meb, I laughed right along with you at the foot massage...after all it was supposed to be considered a treat ! I also laughed when Jen wanted it and K took over...thinking (I guess) she was getting into something good and didn't even allow J the chance. Also, when Marge wanted it and Luke just bulled on in. Have we ever seen him take over before?

I have hope for Marge and Luke after the race (not in it). How can they watch themselves on the show and read the comments and not be changed by it? I did not care for the way Luke seemed to go out of his way to push one of the sisters when running last night and also seemed to be doing it to get his Mom's approval. Marge will be happier in life and in the race if she drops that big chip she is carrying on her shoulder. She is the one making the hearing loss an issue.

That is what I always hope for in TAR contestants..that they learn along the way and use that knowledge to play better in the the Race or to improve their lives. A mighty big task I give them, right? It often doesn't happen, but some teams step up and that is what I fine amazing and what keeps me hoping.

I have been turned off by all the teams at one time or another and can't say who I would want to win. I am surprised the cheerleaders are still there...and that they got a shout out last night for going back and completing the dance where they were so rude.

But...I was finding myself dissappointed toward the end because I didn't want any of the teams to go home. I kept hoping it would be a non-elim, and never even thought of a 'to be continued'.

My answer is that I must like all of the teams, flaws included, in some way, or I wouldn't have cared if one went home last night.

Laurie said...

Sizzle, you wrote profound words, I think. We can all hope that we will do better next time, whatever the actions are. And of course, there's the editing to consider as we watch and make decisions on these people who are "performing" for us.

I agree that Marge has a chip on her shoulder. I think she is in for some rude awakenings as her son becomes an adult and has to face life on his own. It's hard for all of us moms to let go but it will be especially difficult for her if what we see is what she is really like!

I give kudos to the sisters and their pool performances. Even if they lose the game, they won my heart by how they worked together to get through that ordeal. Lots of love and support shown in that event. That will stay with them forever.

My last thought (for now): People who sign up for AR should accept the fact that not all people in foreign countries are going to speak English. The redheads drive me nuts with their complaints about that!

meb said...

I was surmising that there was a rule against them counting with each other for the jump in the pool, cause none of the teams counted.

I mean how easy was it to say, 1-2-3 GO!

So the powers to be must have said, let's not tell the audience that they're not allowed to count, and let's hear them yelling at the TV "Why don't you count you idiots"!!!! That's so we, ourselves, could be the idiots, cause I was surely yelling at the TV.

And Jackie... Obviously she's never had a baby!

Sydney said...

For anyone who didn't see it, you may want to go back to the last post and look for Meb's comments OFF TOPIC-- she reported about a once regular commenter here (up til fall) named Sharon who was always in there jousting with us and had a lot of funny things to say. She has fallen quite ill and really needs your prayers or healing thoughts. Her family too.

Even if you didn't know Sharon, but you do enjoy blogs and Jackie's, she was one of the family here and is greatly missed on these boards. I don't know if anyone in her family is ever looking or if she is able to check, but if you read more than write here, it would be lovely if you might say a little something for our Ms. Sharon in the comments.

RBennie said...

My prayers continue to go out to Sharon and her family. I truly do miss her comments here. She usually agreed with me, LOL. As for TAR, I truly commiserated with Jen last night, because I would have been just like her in that challenge. I thought it was pretty funny when the redheads finally arrived first and then it wasn't the pit stop. Unkind of me I know, but it was priceless. Go Tammy & Victor (my team in the pool).

Laurie said...

RBennie, I miss Sharon too. She and her family are in my prayers.

The look on the redheads faces when they found out they were first but the leg wasn't over was priceless, wasn't it? I'm looking forward to Sunday and finding out what happens.

You sure have a good team. I was out of the pool practically before it all began!

joy n said...

Sharon, still thinking of you often and hoping that we'll hear your funny remarks again as we all bemoan the fates of our faves on our shows here. You're still in my prayers. You are truly missed.
