The Bachelor Winter 2011 Blog Discussion Post

Another season of The Bachelor is at hand. This is your place to discuss the show with friends! The show's official website is right here. Now, I don't watch this one. But isn't this guy a lout from a previous season or something?

Love the girl who slapped him! I know I would have doubts about him.

Delee said...

Jackie, Brad is the one who did not pick either DeAnna and Jennie(?), left them both with nada!

Jackie S. said...

Ah, I just remember seeing him get slapped in the promos.

I'm probably in the minority here but I like Brad. I'm glad he did the soul searching and really 'found' himself. And as for the girl who slapped him... It wasn't from every woman in America because I don't have a problem with him or what he did in his season. If they really watched his season or saw any of his post show interviews they would know that the finale went down that way because the producers wanted it that way. He told them long before the finale that he wasn't feeling it and they made him go all the way to the end...including the whole picking out the ring bit. He's not a bad guy, he was just confused!

I like Ashley. Dont mind Brad at all.

Petals said...

agree Ork

Petals said...

ms j, wf is on.

Petals said...

He wont choose the waxer. What a dummy to wax him. @@

Petals said...

No singing. It never works, either.

Petals said...

None of the forceful too-darkly dyned brunettes will win. Too harsh for him.

joyn said...

Wonder if Miss Fangs will last long. Very odd, I think.

dla said...

Coming from the West Coast...

Orkmommy, I am with you! I was left speechless during his season when he did not choose either, but agree that it was the more challenging decision, and, if he wasn't feeling it, support that decision so much more than picking either Jenny or Deanna (both look great!) and then dumping her after the season.

Can't support the Manscaper, singer or Vampire Girl, at this point... Liking first impressions of the blonde from NC that lost her fiance (she may be too sweet and proper), liking Michelle the hairdresser from SLC... Can't remember their names yet.

He is giving out roses now... Can't wait to see who he selects and who he sends packing...

Have a Happy New Year Jackie !!!

I would like to see the opening night be a speed dating episode. It appears that many of the shy women/men never get a chance to talk to the Bachelor.Bachelorette. Speed dating is the new craze, so why not incorporate it!! This way all of the women/men get an opportunity to chat with the Bachelor/Bachelorette and there can be no complaints about not getting time with him or her. Could be fun, if they do it right. What is right? They all get to meet him/her for 1 minute with the Bachelor/Bachelorette asking the questions. Then the table are turned and the contestants get to ask the questions. I hear it is a lot of fun.

Delee said...

Well a carnival is sure different on his date with Ashley!

Delee said...

Brad seems to be at the place with Ashley that should be weeks away! Strange

matt said...

These chicks are soooooo nuts! Brad is so wishy washy. He says the same thing about everybody. He has absolutely no backbone.

Sydney said...

So, teh chick who is having her 30th b-day ... was it necessary for her to wave the rose around like a magic wand in front of the other girls when they were in the pool?

Sydney said...

Matt, I agree that Brad has the same cadence and says a lot of the same, staring right at you, I'm sincere stuff he said last time and to each girl. So, I'm a little wary as to what will happen this time. I also agree with Ork, that he's done work and I believe he's more open. I also believe he wants to redeem himself. He's so comfortable on camera, I am not sure what to make of it, but whatever, I'm here and I'm watching, lol.

AND WTF is with the blonde crying to Brad and stopping in the middle when she has his total attention to talk about onion breath.............. really stretching it out........... DUMP HER please!

Sydney said...

YAY Emily got his attention. GO WITH EMILY!

Sydney said...

Well, there's one vote for Brad's sanity and seriousness. He didn't pick either the blonde or brunette who were fighting. THANK GOD.

Delee said...

Let's hope the girls learned that lessson! If you run to Brad and cry about another girl---Bye Bye! Glad he got rid of those 2 annoying girls!

Anonymous said...

These women have no right to be insecure. They are all beautiful, strong and healthy. It pisses me off. We as a human race need to learn the value of inner beauty and self confidence. Young girls see these beautiful woman act like children!!! GROW UP!!

Sasha said...

Hi All. Despite my self-promises NOT to watch this round...here I am. I can't remember names yet but I join those who are glad he dumped the two who were fighting. Of course, there will probably be new fights but that seems par for the course. I wasn't watching yet when Brad was on last time so it's just a wait and see thing to me. Seems to me they all say the same stuff about many of the girls/guys. Tell me why I'm watching? LOL See you after the next episode :)

Delee said...

So glad they had Seal on to sing the song after they butchered it.

I think my next target to go is Michelle. Wonder how she will try and hog this next group date since it is not her birthday!!!

Delee said...

Michelle is delusional...the other girls better watch out!

Sydney said...

Howdy Jackie -- is it possible to put this link on the sidebar so it's easy to get to as the weeks roll on?

THANK YOU!

I am hating Michelle... and Brad looks waaaaay too comfortable doing the action scenes and photo poses. Amazed he's not an aspiring actor.

Sydney said...

HI Delee, Hi Sasha! Welcome baaaaaack

Anonymous said...

I don't get why they keep the psychos like Michelle on the show? Do these Bachelor/Bacheloretes not see that psychos like her are very insecure and jealous and it'll only get worse as the relationship progresses? And how about the rude people who keep interrupting conversations! If I were on the show and having a nice conversation with one of the 'contestants' and another one interrupted, I'd tell them to take a hike and wait their turn!!

Sasha said...

Hey Sydney et al, good to see you! I too, am not a Michelle fan. Can anyone say "obnoxious"? Whew got that off my chest. Have to agree ORKMommy, I'd politely tell them to wait their turn. I don't get why Brad himself doesn't do that. Once or twice and they might get the message to not interrupt...or not lol. I still don't have everyone's name down but I'm sure more eliminations will help. See ya next week.

Sydney said...

argh, I could not find this on the sidebar list and now I've found it.

I Tivo this so I can fast forward through parts of Michelle's dates....

Anonymous said...

I don’t like Brad...I think he has a creepy/serious tone and zero personality. He thinks he's God and thinks every girl should be soooo lucky to date him. He uses words like “It’s your lucky day", "It's your special time". He doesn’t appreciate the fact that all these girls are making themselves look ridiculous for him. Not to mention in his last episode he said, "Kissing is a big deal to me". What male thinks kissing is a big deal...obviously he’s trying to get more attention. Zero personality, stiff and unrespectable. I prefer to watch the TV on mute. He only has his body to offer.

dla said...

Hi all! Michelle is a wack job... I actually sort of liked her the first night... Clearly, I was not seeing the total picture. I almost wonder if they don't edit to showcase the crazies in the beginning, making them look somewhat normal, and then BAM!

Happy that he has found himself and grown through time and therapy, but I am not really digging it as a consistent and recurring message throughout the season... And I just keep watching. lol

Has anyone checked out Reality Steve this season? I have not, but will head there now to see what he knows...

Witt said...

Hi all! Usually I drop in for just Big Brother but it's nice to see so many of you during the wintertime too!

Ork, I was so surprised when he didn't pick anyone, but if he couldn't honestly say he loved either woman, why should he pick one? The slap wasn't from me either...I thought it was brave to do what he did.

dla, I have read Reality Steve. I know others don't want to hear about the ending of the show so I won't go there. Even if I've read the (supposed) ending, I like to see the roads taken to get there, which is why I still tune in. My hubby hears me talking to the TV each week (saying things like, "OH ARE YOU SERIOUS??" when some of the ladies get so silly); it's entertaining. I hope Brad is happy at the end, whichever person he picks (or doesn't pick).

Michelle is ridiculous. This is a grown woman, right? With a child, right? She seems to be more focused on the WIN, not the MAN.
So far I am liking Emily, Jackie, Chantal. We'll see how it all turns out!

Witt :)

Sydney said...

I was just praying he'd let Michelle go tonight. It's starting to get harder and harder for me to watch these ladies post-rose interviews in that car. I hate it that the ones who didn't really even have a connection with whatever bachelor start asking what's wrong with themselves, or talking about putting up walls... it's really tough to watch. It's only one guy, you're in impossible odds and an unrealistic situation, and all you need one day IS one to work out.

I also wish he'd let Ashley go... no sex appeal in my mind. He had one interesting date with her, the very first, but I haven't seen anything with them since...

Sydney said...

PS: I like Emily and Chantal. And Witt, it's great to see you here too. I caved and read Reality Steve and I too watch to see how it unfolds.

And dla, I just keep watching too, lol

Thank God you all are here too.

Sasha said...

Hey Sydney, we can't possibly be the only two still watching...or maybe we can. I just seem to have the need to see it even though I'm not loving it. Once I start, stick it out and all that. I agree about the interviews in the car. And Michelle reminds me of watching what's his name keep Vienna week after week. LOL I had to stop and think and think to even come up with her name! Anyone have any suggestions on how to break the habit of this show? Have a great week :)

Delee said...

Vienna was a different piece of work IMO. Michelle is just plain wacky. I do not know how he does not see it. I think he started to wake up this week, so we will see what happens next week.

Does anyone think Michelle is pretty, she has a hard face if you ask me!

Sasha said...

Delee, you're right, Vienna was a different piece of work but with both of them I just keep wondering why the guy can't see it.

Re Michelle and pretty: Depends on the lighting lol. There are times when she looks very pretty (softer lighting) and then there are the times that you can see that she does seem to have a hard face as you say. In real light, little make up she has good structure but she does look hard. JMO :)

Witt said...

Hi Sasha, don't worry, you and Sydney aren't the only two still watching. I just don't get over here all the time to comment, though I've been watching every week.

Michelle is a definite mess. I don't know what guy would like the whole act Michelle has going on, and Brad is seeing right through it now.

Has anyone ever seen when a woman ASKED to go home? (besides Madison) I saw it once during Andrew Firestone's season. When I was single, I know that I met men through my lifetime that I wasn't attracted to, and why would they want to waste Brad's time if there isn't a connection on THEIR side?

Oh well. Happy Valentine's Day, all!

Witt :)

joy n said...

Finally, Michelle is gone. She was so sure she would have him in the end. Brad finally got wise.

For all the cocky talking she's done all season, she had so little to say when she left. A pleasant surprise.

Shannon said...

I'm watching :)

Sasha said...

YAY! Glad to see that more of you are watching. I want to celebrate 'cause Michelle's gone :) I still find it hard to believe that Brad took all this time to realize she "might be volatile"?!! I suspect someone being kept for ratings lol. Obviously, I've been watching these shows too much and too long if I'm going for conspiracy theories.

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day!

Delee said...

So glad she is gone, let us hope she in NOT the next Bachelorette or Vienna either. Not sure I would watch...

joy n said...

Me either, Delee.

joy n said...

Felt bad for Shawntel. She seemed a genuinely nice person. Maybe a little pressure from dad about taking over the family business? Hope she finds Mr. Right someday.

Ashley strikes me as a bit teenage-ish. Too much, "Isn't that cute?" And too much jumping on people in glee.

I don't know, maybe it's just me.

Witt said...

Can't wait to hear how Michelle spins things she said on tomorrow's "Women Tell All." Looking back to hometowns, Shawntel's dad was more concerned with her taking over the business than possibly true love for his daughter! And all the guilt trips, about how "you weren't there when your teacher's son died and she needed you"...I mean REALLY!!!

Hope everyone's been well. Who do you think he picks?

Witt :)

Witt said...

Okay, after watching The Women Tell All tonight, did Michelle REEEEEEALLY think she'd be greeted with open arms?

joy n said...

Michelle put on quite the show last night. I'm doubting her sincerity very much. I read somewhere that she is an actress. IMHO not a very good one. Brad is very blind, methinks. So is Chris.

Witt said...

That show was ridiculous. I think it was an audition for Michelle for some other project. Good act. I have a hard time believing she would say the junk she said all season and THEN fall to pieces when people criticized her.

And -- Ashley's look was a bit much. Hair was fine, but makeup was over the top. Too much lipstick in my opinion. Wow, I'm being critical, huh?

I think he picks Emily. Brad's face was shining when talking about her.

See you next week!
Witt :)

joy n said...

I think he'll pick Emily too. He was glowing when he spoke of her. And I thought Ashley looked much better as a blond and with the lighter makeup. What is she thinking?

joy n said...

That orange tan, too. Ugh!

ML said...

That's how you know Ashley is the next bachelorette. Remember when Ali came back orange head to toe? Her hair, makeup, clothing, body color were all the same. Ashley is much the same with her hair (very fake looking) the same color as her dress and just a deeper hue of her fake orange tan and makeup. I wish we would get some brand new people on this thing!

I think he picks Emily, too. He said he wanted a truly sweet person and that she made him a better person.

I don't think the things Michelle said about people were all that bad, which makes her crying act even worse of an act. She is who she is. Own up to it and go home; stop the whining.

Chantal and Emily seem to be very different. Sometimes I wonder if they come down to a final two like that just so the choice is easy.

Was anyone else surprised by bachelorette Jackie's demeanor? She was just so totally different than the sweet girl we saw on the show. She even got bleeped for the f-word!

joy n said...

Just witnessed a heart breaking there with Chantal.

Sometimes I hate this show.

ML said...

I don't know if it was a heart breaking so much as it was a realization of being used. She is probably regretting having slept with him, especially if he knew Emily was the one. Apparently Emily is having a problem with that, too, as ATFR showed.

I think Emily really loves Brad; she was all over him tonight, regardless of her apprehension after watching him with other women (Chantal). I think they'll work it out, although it scares me a bit that Brad alluded to 'violent' arguments in person. I don't think he likes being questioned. Maybe that's why he was 38 and alone.

I would rather see Chantal or the other Shawntel as the next bachellorette than Ashley. Let's just hope for some nice, hot guys (and no Franks).
ML

joy n said...

I did think Chantal's heart was breaking because Brad seemed to have her pretty convinced that she was "the one". I'm sure you're right that she felt used after his announcement. I just felt so bad for her.

I also agree that Emily should be wary of Brad's temper. I'm not feeling convinced that this relationship is one that will succeed. At the end of the show, I wondered how much Brad had really changed.

ML said...

I do feel very sorry for Chantal, and I really wish she would be the next bacelorette. I like her in sort of the Meredith way, remember her? Like not your cookie cutter stick thin blond sort of way, and with a little gumption.

I just don't necessarily think she is nor should she be heartbroken because she already has a new, good looking, successful guy she doesn't even have to uproot her life for. Can you imagine what kind of train wreck that would be if Brad had picked her? After the Monday night shows? Talk about knock down drag out. I just don't think Brad is a 'catch'. She is better off without him.
ML

joy n said...

How do you know that Chantal slept with Brad?

In interviews I've read with Chantal, it was months later when she met the new guy. I'm happy for her.

There are rumors and apparently pix (haven't seen them-People mag) of Brad with other women since the show ended. So it was more than Brad's temper that Emily is dealing with. Maybe Em should run (not walk) away.

ML said...

Hahaha agreed. That temper would not be a good thing for little Rickie either.
