The Amazing Race 19 Season Premiere Blog Party

It's here! Welcome to the blog party! As the show airs, I'll post major events here in this entry. But the real fun is in the comments area. Please stop in and share your thoughts on the show!

Racers ready?

Margo has the pool all set to go! Here are the random match-ups --

This season has a new obstacle called a hazard.

Good. One of the cocktail waitresses dropped a passport. (I'm not impressed with them.) Gotta give them credit ,,, they tweeted and good samaritans turned it in to them. Kaylana and Lisa, with the hazard for coming in last in the first challenge, have to have one bungee jump..

Ernie and Cindy arrived at the pit stop first. OMG! Bill and Cathi were last, but it's the first non-elimination in a premiere. They're still in the race. Next week is the first ever double elimination.

Karen in CA I just saw your post. I'm sorry but the official pool is close, BUT you are welcome to play along and root for your favorite team with us.

Am glad they aren't outright eliminating anyone. Felt so sorry for that Yoga couple that one season whose race never really even began.

yikes...what a way to start!

Becky said...

Oh, no!!! Our CBS channel link just went out -- except for commercials! It comes back on for them.

Looks like my "pool pick" will be eliminated before it starts. Oh well I think I will root for Jenna and Ethan. LOL Love this show!

Eeks Becky, thats not good. Had that happen to me for the Big Brother finale. Was glad to be able to follow along here.

Ok, they aren't my team, but yay! Those guys were soo sweet!

Hi folks!

Elizabeth Beetschen said...

Hi Joe, join the party. That is unless you want to grade some homework for me during the commercials?

Becky said...

Boy, if it weren't for bad luck... and you know how the rest of it goes. My computer froze up next.

Hope I get through the rest of the show with no problems.

Ok so the vegas girls wanted to show that they are smart well losing your passport on the first leg isnt saying much for their intelligence

I'm glad about how it turned out tonight.

I am glad the older couple are still in the race. Plus they will have to do an extra challenge. Double elimination next week....that will make it a rough week for them.

See you all Wed.

I love that they stayed so positive compared to some other teams. Hopefully that will help in the next leg.

OK, my guys made it! I'm really rooting for Bill & Cathi tho. Not only are they the old folks of the group, but they're from just a few miles south of me.

My WV is peessing. Is that what happens when I have too much brew?

Jennasmom said...

Not too impressed with the twins -- my pool pick. We'll see if they have any "success" -- "without such previous preparation." lol

Had to make nice with the puppy after a weekend away... so we curled up on the couch and just watched without commenting. Then we both fell asleep! :)

Do we have the making of some bickering couples this year, or what? The twins, sibs and Vegas girls are on par to give us plenty to talk about. The passport goof was classic and they were so lucky those guys showed up at the airport with it. That would have been horrible to be eliminated before they even got out of the country.

Looking forward to watching Jenna and Ethan running the race, but it looks like they might hit a snag next week. They remained calm when a lot of the other folks were already showing frustration with their partner.

I felt bad for my pool pick Bill and Cathi. Hopefully they can overcome the Speed Bump and double elimination next week.

I was surprised they were allowed to tweet.

Brent McKee said...

They didn't Tweet. The guy at the gas station found the passport. He had previously helped two of the guys (the snowboarders I think) and figured out that they were on "The Amazing Race" (the camera crew in the car was probably a clue). When he found the passport he tweeted about that as well and mentioned being accidentally photographed for TAR. other people then tweeted that they should try to get to LAX because the women couldn't leave the country without the passport.

My half-hearted watching pops up again. I saw the dropped passport shook my head and went to check the toffee cooling in the kitchen. When I returned no one in my family could or wanted to unravel a story that made little sense at the end of it. Then Jackie said they tweeted and well ...

How the finders made it to the right terminal continues to be a mystery. As well as other details. So they helped the snowboarders and waited for other teams? Or the snowboarders were so lost that they showed up at the same gas station after the last place showgirls?

And why was anyone stopping at a gas station?

And what about Naomi? (not related to AR but if I wonder if Jackie catches that reference?)

Brent McKee said...

"How the finders made it to the right terminal continues to be a mystery."

Not really. This came up on the TV Without Pity forums. Apparently there is only one International Terminal at LAX. All they had to do was go to the Information Desk at the International Terminal

Hi Justene,
Here it is, I think:
The snowboarders stopped at the gas station to find out how to get to LAX. They talked to a guy getting gas. He told them. Next the Vegas girls get to the gas station to ask the same thing. They jump out of the car and drop the passport.
The guy who gave the snowboarders directions is still there. He tweets that he got filmed by the Amazing Race while stopping for gas and also saw one of the teams drop a passport. People tweeted him back and told him he should get to the airport with the passport or the person would be out of the race. He did.

Thanks to both RiseanndShine and Brent McKee. I understand now. No more leaving for the kitchen.
