Big Brother 14: Live Feeds Into Saturday Morning - Aug. 11

A clean face is a happy face. Um. Well.

So, the nominations are in (Joe and Wil) and the Spiritard is out. Here's the latest from inside that Big Brother House of Not So Smooth Moves:
  • If the Have Nots have to have cod and candy canes, BB got them decent ones -- many flavors with the candy canes including root beer and blueberry and expensive cod.
  • Wil and Shane think that Ashley hasn't been honest about whatever is going on with her back. She claims that she's getting cortisone shots.
  • Wil and Shane note that cortisone shots are used on joints, not muscles.
  • They're right.
  • They both agree she looks very sick and is in a lot of pain.
  • I agree. I'm wondering why they're allowing her to stay in the house. Or, why she even wants to be in there in that much pain?
  • Britney and Dan talked about possibly keeping Wil this week as he would go after Frank and Boogie.
  • Joe couldn't effectively go after anyone unless they're already in filet form.
  • Neither Dan or Britney trust Wil, but they do know he's very angry with the tag team of Frank and Boogie.
  • Even though they told him he's their "pawn."
  • Although they are indeed targeting him.
  • Ashley told Wil that if he wins the PoV and doesn't use it on himself, he'll surely go home.
  • So, I guess she's thinking clearly enough!
  • Even if he believes he's the pawn (which he isn't), he hopefully won't Marcellas on us.
  • Frank and Boogie think that Wil is being fake with them every time he talks to them.
  • Yep, he is.
  • Frank still doesn't like the idea of not getting Dan out for a few weeks.
  • Boogie thinks it would be better if Jenn or Ian won HoH and did that dirty deed.
  • I don't think Ian would go after Dan unless few were left in the house.
  • And, I'm not sure Jenn can win anything.
  • Frank got to take the Spiritard off at midnight. He got to keep the pom-poms.
  • Shane told Britney he thinks Ashley is playing the sympathy card so she won't be nominated, won't have to be in comps, etc.
  • Danielle told Wil that she thought she was now being viewed as the "bad girl who took Janelle out."
  • Wil thinks that Frank is probably getting a "good guy" edit on the shows.
  • Adding to the list of stuff Danielle claims -- she also used to be an alcoholic.
  • @@
  • Of course, anyone who seriously "used to be an alcoholic" usually refers to themselves as a recovering alcoholic and abstains from drinking totally. Danielle imbibes whenever she can.
  • She can't this week as she's a Have Not.
  • Danielle told Dan that Wil told her that he (Dan) is dangerous -- in his own season, he stabbed everyone in the back.
  • "You're not going to stab me in the back, are you?"
  • "Of course not."
  • They're all asleep as I post this.

Ian talks school

Still in the house despite rumors

What would be great to see in the next couple of weeks is Ian winning HOH and getting Boogie out of the house. That would go down in BB history as one sweet move.

I'd like to see Ashley have to leave due to her health and then no eviction this week making Frank's HoH as much of a waste as Shane's was!

Anon, I like the way you think!

I must have missed it:

Can anyone say what happened with Ashley's back?

Did it just go out, or was there some kind of injury?

Thanks.

Cortisone is used to reduce inflammation. It's not just for joints. My late husband took cortisone to reduce brain inflammation. Search the internet for "cortisone treat spine" and you'll find details.

Jimmy B,
From previous discussions it seems nobody knows what is wrong with Ashley's shoulder or how she hurt it.

Petals said...

In my Codeine-infused soliloquy last night, I questioned Ashley's injury. She leads such an active life outside the house with her power yoga, Pound classes, snowboarding, etc...yet now she is bed-ridden with headaches, shoulder pain, back pain, "cramps", heck what else? Earaches?

OMGosh - Why hasn't Delusionielle, the charge nurse (which is "a doctor without the residency", according to her) stepped-up to offer some help? Seriously - it doesn't have to be a big deal. Why has she not offered at least her back rubs? She sure had active hands with Shane.
*sigh*
Anyway, I'd like to see Joe win POV. Shake-up the pecking order a bit.

I think Ashley probably was hurt at some point in the BB house, but who knows what or where, or how bad it really is. First it was the shoulder? now it's the right butt.

When BBAD was on last night, I couldn't help notice she was able to laugh and chat... while still claiming her pain was a '10' (on scale of 1-10). Yeah, right. If it was a 10, she'd be crying and probably screaming for help.

She was up leaning way over the sink pinching pimples, etc. this morning... after saying her pain was a 7 or 8.

I buy that she was hurt at some point.
I don't buy that she's in that much pain.

Did u use to get facials at the Hard Rock in biloxi?! I think your my past client! I could be wrong

JimmyB said...

I'm guessin' Ashley has no idea what a "7 or 8" actually is.

It's a bit foolish to speculate about Ashley's pain without a diagnosis. If she has a pinched nerve, due to the shifting or turning of a vertebra or disk, there will be periods of no pain, punctuated by the searing thrust of a white-hot spear when she moves the wrong way. Quite different from the pain of strained muscles.

Without a diagnosis, you don't know, and you won't know because of the laws against release of medical information.

I read (somewhere) that her back problem was aggravated by the sloping have-not room beds.
A pinched nerve can cause all kinds of internal and referred problems as well, depending on what nerve, from intestinal cramping to shooting pain down the buttocks, hips, and legs.

The wv looks doable today so I will just say how much I loved hearing about Julie and Joey. How cute are they?! As for the show, the most fun of it all for me is Jackie's.
Ashley is my pool pick but isn't she the one who had a total meltdown and got put on suicide watch practically the first day? It seems as if it is harder and harder to find people with any charisma at all to play the game. Too bad.

~~Silk said...

There's a contestant on the UK version of BB who had been on suicide watch last month. The UK BB also happens to have an "Ashleigh" on the show. Might this cause confusion?

Auntie Leigh said...

Oh, thanks to Silk for clearing that up for me. BTW, The New Yorker has a review of BB this week. Not mean and snooty, either.

Silk,

We shall see.
I remain unconvinced.

I'm not saying Ashley wasn't injured at all. I'm simply saying that she is probably ok now and (to quote someone else) more than likely 'milking' it.

Actually, that would be pretty clever because nobody would tend to worry about her winning comps!

Her actions below (during BBAD last night) are what tend to make me suspicious...

1) After saying her pain was so bad and nothing was helping, she was sitting on one of the beds with her back leaning against the wall. She was with Brit. She did NOT act or sound like someone who was in considerable pain all day/evening.

2) In lengthy convo with Wil, Ashley was laying on her stomach, elbows propped up on a pillow with her back in an arched-backward position.

As someone who deals with constant back/hip problems, let's just say that I'm just not convinced... with or without a medical diagnosis.

She's playing in the Veto tongiht. Somehow, I doubt she'll work very hard. I think she wants to keep her 'pain' for another week... in the event she goes on the block.

Thursday was such a sad day;Janelle left & my Packers lost. :( Hopefully Frank will continue w/Boogie letting Boogie think he's running the show then TAKE BOOGIE DOWN! I bet he'd get a lot ofhelp. HAGN. Go SEAHAWKS!

Jessica U, Yes I am the same Lynn who you know from the Hard Rock Spa in Biloxi. In fact I am spending this weekend at the Hard Rock!
I think I may have been the one that told you about Jackie's BB Blog.

Sharon, I think you are giving Ashley way too much credit as far as why she would be milking this injury. I think its either a hot doctor that is seeing her or its the pain pills she's getting. I don't think she understands any BB strategy or the concept of trying to appear weak so nobody will see you as a threat. She's so high most of the time that I don't even think she knows she's on BB. Speaking of playing a weak game, I wish Dan would stop throwing comps and acting weak. He's gonna wait too long to try to win a comp and it will be too late. Everybody knows what he's doing except Ashley so he needs to win an hoh sometime and start playing. Plus I'd like to see him bring back Replacement Nominee Roulette if someone plays the Veto during his hoh.

Richard,

I hadn't thought of the 'high' aspect of Ashley's 'condition.'
Janelle seemed to think Ashley is a lot smarter than she lets on.
It will be interesting to see which Ashley is in the BB house... if we ever get the chance to find out.

Certainly, CBS does a background on potential HG's physical health.

If a HG lied about their medical history, then they should be disqualified. Immediately.

So...either Ashley has a history of back problems, or this is an anomaly.

Petals said...

I am listening to Ashley right now (8:10pm), from the horses mouth. She said she is sooooo thirsty & drinking tons of water, and that always means she is feeling better. She was lying on stomach, propped on elbows, eating candy. She said her back feels better but now she has a stomach ache. Dan asked her if she hurt herself or has she always had back problems. She said she didn't know, it just kind of started to ache, then her butt, thigh, then her shoulder. And she also had a headache with each of the other aforementioned areas of pain.
She was lucid; her usual surfer-hippie meets Valley-zen girl tone.
The only thing she mentioned (at least in the conversation I just heard) about the pain being associated with BB is that sometimes the HaveNot beds can be uncomfortable. This is not Petals' diagnosis; it is Petals' paraphrasing Ashley.

Speculating that she is "in a haze" or "on a cloud" or "high" is just that: speculation. And to be honest, it was part of the fun.It is the "role" that they put her in: the loopy surfer freedom&peace-loving zen gal. But she is being monitored 24/7 by production. If there were some huge mysterious crippling illness or injury, I'm sure they will address it, but I am not going to discuss Ashley's medical issues anymore.

This past week, I've felt a vibe here of having a Hall Monitor, or babysitter, looking over my shoulder. Jackie hasn't taken me aside or anything (which I know she'll do) for being offensive or nasty or whatever.I have felt (and I don't think I am the only one) all week like I have angered, injured or offended someone, & have been on eggshells. Can we all please try to not get so serious? This is the fun part of the show, all of us dishing & sharing & partying about the show. I love it here, and REALLY enjoy the hamster show conversations & pool parties - can we all lighten-up & get back to that?
(of course it should go without saying that this is "just my humble opinion").
Richard ~ I agree re Dan! Brit & Boog are throwing them too!
Pack ~ GO CHIEFS :P *wink*
Lynn ~ Lucky lady at the Hardrock Spa! Enjoy it!
Sharon ~ ditto
JULIE & JOEY ~ You guys are GREAT! What a story. God blessed you both, to have one another & seem to be having a blast with the show. JOEY, I'm with you man! I am not a fan of Rachel either, hahahah. It would be great if you popped over here tomorrow night during the show, you would have a lot of fun!
And you are SOOO CORRECT! Ms Jackie has the BEST BLOG, the cleanest pool, and hosts the best parties.
And JOEY - if you want to use ALL CAPS, feel free. In your case, we now know that you aren't "yelling". You are "handi-capable", right?
(I used to sign, years ago I had a deaf neighbor and she taught me some basics)
Anyway, thank you for sharing Julie & Joey. ♥ Look forward to hearing what you guys think of the Quack Pack, LOL

Fingers crossed for Joe to win POV and flip this game! Whooo!!!!

I should have added: CBS certainly must do a medical history on applicants...but they obvioulsy do not do a mental one.

Thanks, Petals. Yes, it is all in fun and some of us look forward to every blog party each week to catch up with each other and just have Fun. I don't attack players on their ethnicity, their sexual orientation, etc. I makes jabs at their behavior in the house. This is what we have done since I began posting here at Jackie's during S6. Back then, I was an Anon but always signed my posts with "mm".

Just keeping it light and apologies if my snark offends anyone, but it really isn't anything new here. I hope some can chill and just ignore what you don't agree with. Jackie's blog is the best place to post or I wouldn't have stayed with her all of these years.

Thanks again, Jackie!

Actually it may have been All-Stars S7, whenever Jackie moved to blogger from AOL. I always followed her journal page over there because it was so light and funny. Anyways, you get my drift.
