Survivor: 10/30 Show

jackie's tv blog, survivor

The show has started here on the East Coast. While I won't be live-blogging it per se, I will update this entry with the big news. My full review will be going up on TV Squad later tonight. As always, have fun in the comments!

Kota wins reward - helicopter trip for a picnic. Guess who went to Exile? Yep, Sugar. Kota also got letters from home.

Marcus won individual immunity and had to pick someone from Fang to give individual immunity. He chose Sugar hoping a power player will go from the tribe.

Whoa! Sugar betrayed Ace! Yay! He's been voted out, blindsided by Crystal, Kenny, and Sugar.

Kota voted out Dan.

  1. Is Sugar the lady cop on Life on Mars? They sure look a like and sound a like?

  2. No, she isn't that person. They do look a bit similar, though.

  3. I'm here... I've been checking out the pics of Roofus! YAY Roofus is still with us! Thanks Jackie.

I can't wait for tribal tonight.

  4. Poor Sugar. I don't get their strategy.

  5. Individual immunity for one on each tribe. Dan may be in trouble if he doesn't win this.

  6. Ace, Marcus and Sugar move on.

Sugar out. Ace out. Marcus wins individual immunity.

He gives the second indiv. immun. to Sugar. YAY!

  7. Good for Marcus. Sugar got the immunity necklace. She'll give Ace the immunity idol so look out Matty, Kenny and Crystal.

  8. I don't buy this. I think the bait and switch is in place. Kenny or Crystal should be very afraid.

  9. Crystal is getting on my nerves. So is Kenny. So is Ace.

  10. WOW WOW WOW... I thought it was going to be Crystal!

  11. Sugar just went up in Kenny and Crystal's eyes but down in Matty's. Where will that put her when the merge happens. Shouldn't it happen next week?

  12. I'm in shock that Sugar listened to Kenny and voted out Ace! Kenny and Crystal will stab her in the back the first chance they get. And now Matty will be upset with her, too. Ace was strong, at least. C and K are pretty much useless at comps.

  13. Dan or Susie is in trouble.

  14. They're not sure if Dan has an idol from Exile. Maybe he will be safe.

  15. Well. Terry, our boy is gone. All dressed up and someplace to go.

  16. I guess I'm just not getting the logic this season.

Randy pulls a mooner next week. UGH!

    My wv is tophair (?)

  17. They played like a true team tonight (KOTA). No matter, one of the old Fang was going home and they were considering the idol that Dan could have had. Smart! Randy looks like he's the new Richard Hatch in the making. UGH!

  19. Almost 8 here and I'm ready to watch the show. I'm trying not to read ahead... wish me luck.

  20. Oh no ... I couldn't resist the temptation ... I read the ending.

    I have no willpower!

  21. I am really starting to like Sugar. Smart move to get rid of Ace, knowing the merge is coming soon. Same for getting rid of Dan. Both were capable of winning individual immunities. Crystal & Susie couldn't win anything. And Randy probably is setting himself up to be king, like he said on the previews. He's worked his way into the Kota group, and then he can make his old Fang members think he's just been waiting to get back to them. He's such a crusty old codger that no one probably really likes him, but they probably think the other side doesn't either!

  22. I was happily surprised that Sugar voted with Crystal and Kenny. I don't know if it was a smart move on her part or not but I was glad to see Ace go.

After seeing Dan's behavior last night I think Marcus and Corrine were dead on that Dan is paranoid or at least has some seious problems. He was acting weird as heck.

When Kota went on their picnic and got letters from home, it appeared to me that Randy didn't get a letter. While everyone else was reading their letters Randy was just lounging around with a goofy smirk on his face. Did anyone else notice that or am I missing something?

  24. Oh well, my boy Ace got the boot last night. I was very surprised that Sugar turned on him like that. Did she really believe all that drivel Kenny was throwing at her? I was really liking Sugar, but she's gone down several notches in my opinion. Where is the benefit in teaming up with the weaklings Crystal and Kenny? I don't believe that Ace would have turned on her. Matty has been trying for the longest to get him to vote her out and he always talked him out of it. The tribes will now merge and Kota will pick off the demoralized Fang one-by-one. Crystal should never again mention in life that she was an Olympic gold medalist, because she has sucked at everything so far. Marcus is my favorite and I'm now free to root for him.

  25. Lynn, I noticed the same thing it looked like Randy didn't have a letter to read. Why does this not surprise me. He is just about the nastiest person I've ever seen. He just doesn't seem like the type who would have loving family and friends cheering him on back home.

  26. Well Joy N yes our boy Dan hit the road, but he did it to himself. if we had been picking we wouldnt have picked him to be w winner, instead he was a whiner.
I do love Matty on Fang and Im sure Kenny the weasel will vote him out next unless he can get the individual immunity necklace.
I think Suagar was very smart to boot Ace when she had the chance..he's not on the jury..she'll never see him until the final show, and Im thinking she just may be in that final two...

  27. Last night's ep was good. I'm pleased with both of the vote offs. Sugar was smart to get rid of Ace now. He really only wanted her as long as her II could help him and he betrayed his hand to her this week and she axed him for it. Crystal & Kenny annoy the crap out of me, but they'll get theirs when they have to match up with the Kota kids after the merge.

I was extremely pleased with the way my girl Corinne and the Onion Alliance played their hand. I like that Corinne didn't let the issues with Susie make her dead set on eliminating Susie. It was very good that her, Marcus & Charlie formed a quite brilliant plan and covered all their bases. Those three are a mental force to be reckoned with. Fang doesn't know what they're in for when the merge comes.

  28. I don't know Terry. I can't see Sugar making it to Finale. Everyone knows she has the immunity idol. The smart thing for Kota to do is flush it out and make her use it. She can only save herself once and there's not much chance she can win individual immunity for herself.

Poor Sugar. I don't get their strategy.
(Relating to sending Sugar to Exile again)
    -----------------------------
I always figured it was a combination of two things. Keep sending Sugar and then the only two people that could possibly have the Idol are Dan & Sugar. And also, she's not a huge physical threat so it's better to have send her to a place where she can eat twice her weight in fruit than to send Matty, Ace or Crystal whom they perceive to be the stronger physical competitors.

I hope it's those reasons, otherwise they're just being mean. I think that's why Marcus gave her the necklace though. Partially to keep a strong player from having it and partially to say "see sending you to Exile isn't personal, we do actually feel bad about doing this every time".

  30. I want to know what is up with me getting all the *itchy contestants in the pools? At least we got to see Corrine in camp which I don't think we really have seen Kota in weeks. I'm worried for Bob and Kenny. They are skeletons w/skin. I hope there is a feast next week and everyone gets to eat. I was also wondering if there is a rule that Sugar can not bring back fook from exile. There was plenty of fruit yesterday for her whole tribe.

  31. Caroline, you were right about their strategy to keep sending Sugar to Exile Island. That's why Marcus gave her the necklace last night, too, hoping she wouldn't be dumb enough to give her idol away and that one of the power players (Ace or Matty) would be gone. At the same time, she will probably remember the favor and maybe he can control her vote & idol at a future point after the merge. That's why I love Survivor. All the mind games!

I know people get upset when someone betrays someone - but that's the game! They are trying to win $1 million. OUTWIT! I'm sure Sugar probably wouldn't betray a friend in real life any more than the rest of us would. But you are there to play the game! Ace was trying to use her, she got him first!

  33. Whoops! I think I accidentally deleted my post. See what happens when you're in rush. ;)

    Trying again...

Fang just can't seem to get their act together. It must be demoralizing to keep losing and running out of rice makes them even more desperate. I feel sorry for Matty trying to compete and playing his heart out. Crystal annoys the heck out of me but Matty did come down hard on her for accidentally spilling the rice. Crystal seems to have a big chip on her shoulders which contributes to the lack of unity in the tribe.

Even with being on a losing tribe Sugar always manages to keep a smile on her face. I like that about her. She was that way even before she found the idol. I liked the way she handled Ace when he was asking for the idol. She may not make it to the end but she's not at all the dumb blonde we expected. Buh-bye Ace!!!!

I didn't expect Dan to go last night. I think he was too soft and sensitive for his tribe to accept him as a strong player. BTW, I like the sensitive type.

Have to go read Jackie's review on TVS now.

    Ciao!

  34. Enjoyed your review on TVS, Jackie.

It reminded me that I forgot to mention how much I wanted to slap Corrinne when she made her statement about stabbing Suzie in the face. She's one of the "mean girls". Marcus, watch out!

Watching Bob open his letters from home was touching. I hope he makes it to the end but he needs to put some meat on his bones if he's going to compete after the merge.

The letters from home made me wonder if the castaways will get to see any of their family/friends in person this season? Or, is CBS trying to cut costs? Even with the economy hurting, I doubt that CBS has serious financial problems.
