Boy, lots to talk about this season, eh? Here's your latest blog discussion post for Dancing With the Stars -- a place for you to talk about the show with your friends from the blog.

Joy, I was amazed that Susan Lucci went, because she has so many fans. She did her best, techinically she did well, but just was too lady like. I know she tried so hard to let loose too. Anyway, I'm glad the young guy didn't have to go this week... kind of unfair since he may have done less than his best due to a new partner to get used to...
Meb, I agree he might be next. Let's face it, it will be Brooke and Derek, and one of the others will be in the f2 with them. LOL, am I repeating everything you all have already said for weeks?
I haven't been commenting much because I'm so darn busy but I am watching and will try to comment more now.
Happy birthday Laurie! I hope you had a great day. There seem be be a lot of fellow Scorpions on this site. I'm just itchin for TAR to start. See you guys there. Congrats on your new blog pdx Granny. It's amazing how many of us started one in the last couple of days. All it took was the Tag game, LOL.
I agree, Joy, it wasn't Warren's best effort. A 300lb man doing jive can get a little off-balance. But I would still give him better scores than Cape-Twirler!! lol
Good morning all. I am totally psyched about seeing Lacey & Benji perform tonight. I love seeing them dance together. I don't know if any of these new little twists they are adding to the show are bringing any value to it. I was definitely not happy with the team dance bit last week and don't see where the 15 second solos made any difference at all. I agree with most of you that it will either be Maurice or Cody going home tonight. I'm leaning more toward Maurice because I think Cody will get a surge of votes just to ensure that Julianne comes back.
Unfortunately, I think Maurice will go home tonight because people want Juianne to come back. Also, I don't think a pro has been twice eliminated in the same season as Edyta would be if Cody goes home. I hate to see Maurice go. Yes, the solo was a bit lame, but I think they've been harder on him than many this year.
PS--What in the world was up with Warren's shoes? Why didn't he wear dance shoes for the jive. It emphasized he flat footed dancing more than dance shoes would have.
I don't think Cody has anything to worry about. Tom should have just guaranteed he'd be back next week when he mentioned that he'll be dancing with Julianne. People will vote for him just to see her again.
I think Maurice's time is up. He's just too inconsistent. I wonder if Cheryl likes dancing with him. In the ballroom dances, he seems to take away something from her...almost like she has to fight to keep herself in step.
Good morning! Last night Tom said the solo would be during the Latin dances....since when did the Jive become a Latin dance??? It was much easier for Warren to solo doing the Jive than Cody, Maurice,and Lance doing a Latin dance.
I have never thought Maurice and Cheryl have had any chemistry, he seems pretty full of himself. There is a reason many athletes compete in individual competitions and "team" competitions! They perform well as one but have a hard time working with others.
I'm in the group that hopes Cody does stay around....I want to see Julieanne dance again! That was so funny when all his friends came to practice....that was 18 yr. old boys with hormones in overdrive!!
I think Brooke's body has gotten thinner and more toned(if that's possible). She looks soooo good....I hate her!! LOL
Looking forward to seeing Lacey and Benji tonight.
But who the heck came up with the idea to pair Lacey/Benji with Brad??!! Their speciality is fast West Coast Swing! That song is way too slow tempo, country is not their style and the lyrics are not exactly best suited to their sibling relationship. Boo, I thought that was disappointing, because they could have been awesome!!
Yay, Lance and Lacey are in the semis with Warren and Kym. Missed blogging last night but I think it will be Maurice going home. I agree with the rest who think the vote surge is more likely for Julianne and not automatically Cody.
Cody does deserve to stay over Maurice... it couldn't have been easy switching partners mid-stream. I think the judges were harder on him in Julianne's absence.
Well the bottom two are the ones we thought, Maurice and Cody.
And Joy, yes, we older broads can even get away with a few comments not and again.
I just celebrated my 68 th birthday last month. I am not kidding when I tell you that sometimes I have to look at the age of my children in order to have the reality that I am NO in my late 40's hit me.

Thrilled to see Cody make it through to get back with Julianne next week.
And I agree that Brooke is looking more tiny and toned than ever. I made the same comment earlier this evening. Talk about great genes!! After FOUR kids?? Wow! :)
Love the new haircut on Maks. Much more modern, and he would look good with no hair at all. He seems a bit shy, which is so unexpected. Makes me like him all the more... He is a hottie.
And ya gotta love Brad Paisley!
PS: I am going to be catty now. Samantha's hair looked like a birds nest attached to the back of her head. And the dress looked like something I would wear over my black bikini at the beach in Mexico or Hawaii. That is, if I was still in shape to wear a black bikini. :) Those were the days, my friends....
Boy am I ever glad I have all you guys!! My DVR stopped recording just as they cut away for the last commercial. I only saw that Maurice and Cody were left. No idea who go the boot.
I'm really glad Cody is staying. I like Julianne, but I like him too - better than Maurice.
I'm sorry flipflops, but I just don't see Warren the same way you do. There's no denying that he can dance. I wished I liked him better so I could appreciate the dancing more. He seems arrogant to me.
JoyN, I'm glad you mentioned that Julianne and Derek's dance was taped prior to her surgery. I was with the others who thought she must be part bionic woman!
There are so many things to love about this place. One of the best is that we can all let out our inner DOL. Mine came out loud & clear when Brad sang to me. I was almost wishing I had ticks!
Didn't get to see the show. Fell asleep as expected. So glad Cody is still with the show. And also glad that Maurice left. I really think it should be Warren who goes next. While he appears light on his feet in the fast dances, he's very flat footed most of the time. I think Cody is a better dancer than Warren, although Cody is stiff and needs some loosening up.
Clementine... Derek has been bugging me for a while with his facial expressions. It's like he needs to hog the camera. Lacy does the same thing. And I believe it comes down to their immaturity... but then there's Julianne who is very professional, so go figure.
By the way, falling asleep early wakes you up early, thus the reason for my posting at 3am.
I thought Lacey & Benji were great last night. Yes, they could have been even better with music more suited to their style, but I still thought they did a phenomenal job and I just love how much fun they put into their dancing. Nobody slides like Benji. I totally missed Julianne & Derek's number, but with the help of Youtube, I will watch it today. Not at all surprised or particularly saddened that Maurice went home. Cody should go next. He's very cute and full of youthful exuberance, but a good dancer he's not. The final three, imo, should be Brooke, Lance & Warren, and even though Brooke is the best dancer of the 3, I still want Lance to win, LOL. I just like him more.
I'm not a big fan of Warren either because I also think he is arrogant. For a guy his size, he's good but not that good. I just think the judges may prefer him to Cody for whatever reason.
Having said that, each season I'm liking Len less and less. I believe his own personal bias sometimes comes through and is reflected in his voting. I honestly feel he should be replaced.
joyn...does Len have anything to do with the production of the show? I thought he did, thus would be hard put to replace him.
I missed the results show, so just went over and watch Lacy and Benji on YouTube... they are so good together. I also watched a few of her other #'s posted over there from SYTYCD and her legs look a lot thinner. Wonder what she's doing that might make her legs get thicker. They make her look chubby when she really isn't.
I adore Julianne, but I think that Cody should probably go home this week. That said, I think he has gotten a lot further than he could have with any other partner. She has taught him a lot, but he is very young.
Len is an insulting boob. I am in the like him less and less this year.
I didn't think that Brooke was as good this week. And darn you that mentioned Derek's facial mugging. You are right. I just paid more attention tonight.
Must say, the judges have all been rather brutal this week. Except with Warren. He didn't impress me that much. But he is better than Cody. And Kym deserves to go further this year after the duds that have stuck her with in the past.
Joy, just read your question about Lacey's legs. I think I heard that she hurt her knee on the SYTYCD tour and had to take time off from dancing. That might explain her slight weight gain (which she seems to be losing now) and maybe she was working out the leg, and built some extra muscle. Just guessing :)
Now that's what I'm talkin about! Way to go Lancey! They finally got their due from the judges, but Len just had to deny them a 10 and then he gives a 10 to Brooke. Cody is noticeably out of his league now and needs to go home. I like Julianne too, but I don't think he deserves to make the finals just because his professional partner has a large fanbase. I know this is mean of me, but I was glad to see Brooke screw up for a change. They were being way too ambitious with that jitterbug.
Clementine, RTVW now has a report that Cloris' rep denies the pneumonia story. He says she has a cough and sought medical help for it. He says also that she is scheduled to tape something for DWTS later this week plus many other engagements (apparently due to her new popularity) and Ms Leachman is planning to fulfill all of them.
Of course, we don't really know which story is true.
Diva Aretha Franklin is scheduled for tonight's DWTS entertainment. I've heard she presented a long list of demands including no AC can be on when she sings.
I cannot believe for the life of me that she was named the best singer of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. They should be embarrassed for saying that.
The last three times that I've heard her sing made me cringe. She doesn't really sing, she screeches, she screams. If she should happen to sing as part of a group (awards shows) she hogs the limelight. Her last note will be louder and longer and have more twists in it than anyone trying to sing with her.
When I heard how upset she got with Beyonce for calling Tina Turner the Queen of Rock (who still sings beautifully) and that she felt Beyonce owed her an apology, I was SO OVER Aretha.
Thanks for the news on Cloris, Joy! I thought it was strange that she would contract pneumonia after getting probably the most exercise of her life dancing on the show, lol!
Oops, we'll have to disagree on the Queen of Soul. Aretha singing Chain of Fools is awesome in my book :) And Leona Lewis, too! The show has definitely upped the ante with results show talent this year. It's usually at the top of the ratings, so I guess they're cashing in their chips to get the big stars! Works for me!
Hey, Julianne has a good voice! I don't know that I've heard her sing yet. Is this her big single?
And how neat is it that Derek and Marc are her dancers! Supporting their sister, that's so cool. I wonder if they thought they get this far when they were performing together as kids?
And they have quite the prop dept this year, yes? What is that thing that John Legend is singing in?? Looks like a bunch of giant glow sticks attached to a trampoline, hee, hee
Cody is such a typical teenager. He went so ga-ga meeting Julianne and then again the first time they rehearsed together. That going from teen to man thing, you know?
I know some of you EC have left but I see the comment about Derek and Mark backing up Julianne. On Sunday I was watching the Stars Tour on Ice and Derek and Mark were the live singers! They are in a rock band together and both were quite good singers.
Excited to see the show...knew it was time for Cody to go. He has had such a crush on Julianne this season. I think it's been cute to watch....awwwwwwww.
Clue me in somebody. Marc is brother to Julianne and Derek??? I didn't know that! They never refer to him like they do J & D. Will wonders never cease.
I liked Cody, but it doesn't surprise me that he went before Warren. It's all in the fan base at this point.
Yamagouchi (sp) did a good job tonight. Good to see her back.
I'm surprised Aretha would allow dancers during her song. When she sang her first song, the only time the audience got loud was when the dancers came on. That was embarrassing I would think.
Meb...Mark is not their brother. But Mark and Julianne were juniors partners for many, many years and won many championships together. On top of that Mark & Derek are in the bank Almost Amy together and they (along with the rest of the band) live together. Hope that clears that up for everyone.
I thought that was a very entertaining result show last night. I believe the right 3 couples are in the finals, which is nice for a change. Usually there is always 1 couple there who really shouldn't be!
I loved the John Legend performance. I like Leona Lewis, but I'm over that song already. She should have sung her latest single. I thought Julianne's song was cute. Nothing special about it, very typical country song, imo. It was cute that she had the young'uns dancing with her. Of course the highlight of the night for me was seeing Maks and Karina dance together. They were smoking hot. Go Lancey!
Has anyone else noticed how Kim flinches everytime Warren kisses on her bard shoulders? Seems as though she is a little tired of the his excessive affection.
It's funny you should mention that Anon, because my husband, who doesn't typically watch the show, was watching it reluctantly with me on Monday and his comment was "wow, she really doesn't like her partner much does she? Look at those looks she's giving him".

Well, they just did a fantastic group samba with spotlight parts for each.
Judges had very nice things to say to Lance and Warren about their progress, and agreed that Brooke is the best technical dancer. Len practically crowned her winner. Carrie Ann was a little more critical.

Brooke and Derek did their freestyle to "The One that I Want" from Grease. It was super-cute and some amazing tricks. Derek choreo'd that perfect! It suited her so well.
Okay, Brooke did great, but they do tend to overhype at the finale, methinks. There were a few other freestyles over the years that I enjoyed more, and definitely others that were comparable as far as performance.
Not to take anything away from Brooke. She was awesome!
Becky - is Cloris in the audience? I haven't seen her.
Joyn - you still out there? Hope you're all safe in warm inside, and the ice storm doesn't leave any damage behind.
Cable is running well again. I saw most of Brooke and Derek's freestyle. Loved it!
"Lancey" did great, too.
It's actually warming up here. Now 34 degrees and I can hear clumps of ice and snow falling off the silver maples onto our roof. It's still raining though, and if the temps go down again, we'll have ice again.
Warren and Kym with a more traditional dance to Proud Mary. Started out slow and ended with some fabulous lifts. And Kym wins the prize tonight for amazing costume.
Carrie Ann's favorite routine. (And then she called him out for a mistake he made. Shut-up Carrie Ann. She always has to be right.)
I have to agree with Carrie Ann... Warren and Kym's freestyle was my favorite. Not doing any lifts hurt Lancey. Apolo and Julianne worked lifts into their hip-hop routine.
It will come down to the fan voting for this one. Go...
Derek and Brooke were the best freestyle, hands down. What does that mean, hands down??? Well let me tell you... one theory is that it comes from the boxing ring. A prize fighter occasionally got matched with a pushover and in such a bout, he waltzes to victory after having barely raising his fists...hands down!
Just thought you'd like to know that. (I have a book of 600 phrases and where they got started).
The best part of tonight's show was Tom Bergeron holding up a tiny piece of Kym's costune and saying that it would be all of Edyta's costume. Too funny.
Good show, good season. Not my favorite of all time, and some of the scoring was completely wack, but what can ya do??
I think Brooke and Derek will be hard to beat, but you never know about those fans! If they get their voting fingers going, anything can happen.
Still believe that Brooke is the best dancer, Warren is most loved (and the least talented dancer), and that Lancey has shown the most improvement through the season. I don't think they could do lifts due to their similar size & weight, as Lance is not exactly a weight lifter.
Thinking back on previous freestyle, I loved Julianne & Apollo, and still loved Cheryl & Drew... Ride em, cowgirl! :)
See everyone tomorrow night after the show. I can't live blog and actually enjoy the show at the same time! lol
Great show last night. I thought they all put it all on the floor. The group samba was a lot of fun. My only real bone to pick is how Len could give Warren a 10 and only give Lance an 8. Despite Brooke admittedly being the best technical dancer the entire season, I just never really had fun watching her. I would rather see Lancey win because their routines were all fresh, different and always had a playful, fun element to them. To quote Rosie "I found them very enjoyable".
Nice to see Jeffrey Ross and Ted McGinley take their encore performance seriously. Looks like they really practiced and tried hard. Unlike Kym Kardashian. Not only does she not have rhthym, it looked liked she didn't even practice.
Can't wait to see Cloris' triumphant return to the dance floor, LOL!!
My wv is "imgiantoe". But really, my toe's not THAT big!
Fun show tonight. I'm hoping it is Warren or Lance. Brooke is the best dancer by far... but Warren and Lance have wowed me so many times this season. I can't wait to see Warren and Kym's hustle and Lancey's Jitterbug again.

You know, every year I forget who all was on the show until they dance at the end. Totally forgot about Rocco. He was enjoyable. Just saw him on Biggest Loser earlier tonight, so he's still making the reality rounds.

It's hard to tell if it's a wig. It looks very natural but it could be a very expensive one, I suppose. Whichever, she looks great in that hair!

Good morning all. I am totally psyched about seeing Lacey & Benji perform tonight. I love seeing them dance together. I don't know if any of these new little twists they are adding to the show are bringing any value to it. I was definitely not happy with the team dance bit last week and don't see where the 15 second solos made any difference at all. I agree with most of you that it will either be Maurice or Cody going home tonight. I'm leaning more toward Maurice because I think Cody will get a surge of votes just to ensure that Julianne comes back.

Also, I don't think a pro has been twice eliminated in the same season as Edyta would be if Cody goes home. I hate to see Maurice go. Yes, the solo was a bit lame, but I think they've been harder on him than many this year.
ReplyDeletePS--What in the world was up with Warren's shoes? Why didn't he wear dance shoes for the jive. It emphasized he flat footed dancing more than dance shoes would have.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Cody has anything to worry about. Tom should have just guaranteed he'd be back next week when he mentioned that he'll be dancing with Julianne. People will vote for him just to see her again.
ReplyDeleteI think Maurice's time is up. He's just too inconsistent. I wonder if Cheryl likes dancing with him. In the ballroom dances, he seems to take away something from her...almost like she has to fight to keep herself in step.

ReplyDeleteLast night Tom said the solo would be during the Latin dances....since when did the Jive become a Latin dance??? It was much easier for Warren to solo doing the Jive than Cody, Maurice,and Lance doing a Latin dance.
I have never thought Maurice and Cheryl have had any chemistry, he seems pretty full of himself. There is a reason many athletes compete in individual competitions and "team" competitions! They perform well as one but have a hard time working with others.
I'm in the group that hopes Cody does stay around....I want to see Julieanne dance again! That was so funny when all his friends came to practice....that was 18 yr. old boys with hormones in overdrive!!
I think Brooke's body has gotten thinner and more toned(if that's possible). She looks soooo good....I hate her!! LOL

Cody does deserve to stay over Maurice... it couldn't have been easy switching partners mid-stream. I think the judges were harder on him in Julianne's absence.

I'm sorry flipflops, but I just don't see Warren the same way you do. There's no denying that he can dance. I wished I liked him better so I could appreciate the dancing more. He seems arrogant to me.

There are so many things to love about this place. One of the best is that we can all let out our inner DOL. Mine came out loud & clear when Brad sang to me. I was almost wishing I had ticks!
Didn't get to see the show. Fell asleep as expected. So glad Cody is still with the show. And also glad that Maurice left. I really think it should be Warren who goes next. While he appears light on his feet in the fast dances, he's very flat footed most of the time. I think Cody is a better dancer than Warren, although Cody is stiff and needs some loosening up.
ReplyDeleteClementine... Derek has been bugging me for a while with his facial expressions. It's like he needs to hog the camera. Lacy does the same thing. And I believe it comes down to their immaturity... but then there's Julianne who is very professional, so go figure.
By the way, falling asleep early wakes you up early, thus the reason for my posting at 3am.
I thought Lacey & Benji were great last night. Yes, they could have been even better with music more suited to their style, but I still thought they did a phenomenal job and I just love how much fun they put into their dancing. Nobody slides like Benji. I totally missed Julianne & Derek's number, but with the help of Youtube, I will watch it today. Not at all surprised or particularly saddened that Maurice went home. Cody should go next. He's very cute and full of youthful exuberance, but a good dancer he's not. The final three, imo, should be Brooke, Lance & Warren, and even though Brooke is the best dancer of the 3, I still want Lance to win, LOL. I just like him more.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of Warren either because I also think he is arrogant. For a guy his size, he's good but not that good. I just think the judges may prefer him to Cody for whatever reason.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, each season I'm liking Len less and less. I believe his own personal bias sometimes comes through and is reflected in his voting. I honestly feel he should be replaced.

I also watched a few of her other #'s posted over there from SYTYCD and her legs look a lot thinner. Wonder what she's doing that might make her legs get thicker. They make her look chubby when she really isn't.

Must say, the judges have all been rather brutal this week. Except with Warren. He didn't impress me that much. But he is better than Cody. And Kym deserves to go further this year after the duds that have stuck her with in the past.
Joy, just read your question about Lacey's legs. I think I heard that she hurt her knee on the SYTYCD tour and had to take time off from dancing. That might explain her slight weight gain (which she seems to be losing now) and maybe she was working out the leg, and built some extra muscle. Just guessing :)

Just saw this on the news... Cloris Leachman has been hospitalized with pneumonia.
ReplyDeleteNow that's what I'm talkin about! Way to go Lancey! They finally got their due from the judges, but Len just had to deny them a 10 and then he gives a 10 to Brooke. Cody is noticeably out of his league now and needs to go home. I like Julianne too, but I don't think he deserves to make the finals just because his professional partner has a large fanbase. I know this is mean of me, but I was glad to see Brooke screw up for a change. They were being way too ambitious with that jitterbug.
ReplyDeleteClementine, RTVW now has a report that Cloris' rep denies the pneumonia story. He says she has a cough and sought medical help for it. He says also that she is scheduled to tape something for DWTS later this week plus many other engagements (apparently due to her new popularity) and Ms Leachman is planning to fulfill all of them.

Diva Aretha Franklin is scheduled for tonight's DWTS entertainment. I've heard she presented a long list of demands including no AC can be on when she sings.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe for the life of me that she was named the best singer of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. They should be embarrassed for saying that.
The last three times that I've heard her sing made me cringe. She doesn't really sing, she screeches, she screams. If she should happen to sing as part of a group (awards shows) she hogs the limelight. Her last note will be louder and longer and have more twists in it than anyone trying to sing with her.
When I heard how upset she got with Beyonce for calling Tina Turner the Queen of Rock (who still sings beautifully) and that she felt Beyonce owed her an apology, I was SO OVER Aretha.
Aretha needs to get over herself.
Leona Lewis, on the other hand, has great range and reminds me of Maria Carey's voice.

The show has definitely upped the ante with results show talent this year. It's usually at the top of the ratings, so I guess they're cashing in their chips to get the big stars! Works for me!

I'm surprised Aretha would allow dancers during her song. When she sang her first song, the only time the audience got loud was when the dancers came on. That was embarrassing I would think.
Meb...Mark is not their brother. But Mark and Julianne were juniors partners for many, many years and won many championships together. On top of that Mark & Derek are in the bank Almost Amy together and they (along with the rest of the band) live together. Hope that clears that up for everyone.

Of course the highlight of the night for me was seeing Maks and Karina dance together. They were smoking hot. Go Lancey!

Judges had very nice things to say to Lance and Warren about their progress, and agreed that Brooke is the best technical dancer. Len practically crowned her winner. Carrie Ann was a little more critical.

Brooke and Derek did their freestyle to "The One that I Want" from Grease. It was super-cute and some amazing tricks. Derek choreo'd that perfect! It suited her so well.

I have to agree with Carrie Ann... Warren and Kym's freestyle was my favorite. Not doing any lifts hurt Lancey. Apolo and Julianne worked lifts into their hip-hop routine.

Derek and Brooke were the best freestyle, hands down. What does that mean, hands down??? Well let me tell you... one theory is that it comes from the boxing ring. A prize fighter occasionally got matched with a pushover and in such a bout, he waltzes to victory after having barely raising his fists...hands down!

The best part of tonight's show was Tom Bergeron holding up a tiny piece of Kym's costune and saying that it would be all of Edyta's costume. Too funny.

Good show, good season. Not my favorite of all time, and some of the scoring was completely wack, but what can ya do??
ReplyDeleteI think Brooke and Derek will be hard to beat, but you never know about those fans! If they get their voting fingers going, anything can happen.
Still believe that Brooke is the best dancer, Warren is most loved (and the least talented dancer), and that Lancey has shown the most improvement through the season. I don't think they could do lifts due to their similar size & weight, as Lance is not exactly a weight lifter.
Thinking back on previous freestyle, I loved Julianne & Apollo, and still loved Cheryl & Drew... Ride em, cowgirl! :)

Great show last night. I thought they all put it all on the floor. The group samba was a lot of fun. My only real bone to pick is how Len could give Warren a 10 and only give Lance an 8. Despite Brooke admittedly being the best technical dancer the entire season, I just never really had fun watching her. I would rather see Lancey win because their routines were all fresh, different and always had a playful, fun element to them. To quote Rosie "I found them very enjoyable".

Nice to see Jeffrey Ross and Ted McGinley take their encore performance seriously. Looks like they really practiced and tried hard. Unlike Kym Kardashian. Not only does she not have rhthym, it looked liked she didn't even practice.

ReplyDeleteFun show tonight. I'm hoping it is Warren or Lance. Brooke is the best dancer by far... but Warren and Lance have wowed me so many times this season. I can't wait to see Warren and Kym's hustle and Lancey's Jitterbug again.

You know, every year I forget who all was on the show until they dance at the end. Totally forgot about Rocco. He was enjoyable. Just saw him on Biggest Loser earlier tonight, so he's still making the reality rounds.
Now the Cloris commercial "Coming to a Retirement Home" was funny!
