Survivor Gabon: 12/04 Show Post

jackie's tv blog, survivor

The show has started here on the East Coast. My full show review will be up later over on TV Squad. I'll update this post with major events, but the real fun is in the comments. I hope to see you there!

Bob wins reward! Pizza, beer, brownies, and an extended message from home. Now they're all getting a visit, but only Bob got pizza and beer. Matty just proposed to his girlfriend. It was a yes.

Bob won immunity! It's a Bob night!

Despite a valiant effort with another fake idol built by Bob, Corinne was voted out.

  7. Hi Txrednekgirl:

Kenny's going to win this for us, I just know it! The sneaky little rat :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hmmm ... Bob all but blatantly admitted the fake idol in front of Corinne. So what's that on the promos?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Watching them laugh at Randy was hysterical, but Bob was right not the nicest thing to do.

    ReplyDelete
  10. You know someones family is nearby, after the challenge...poof, hello!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I love the family episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Mattie is soo in love... cute

    ReplyDelete
  13. Don't they usually have all the family members there, and only the winner gets to spend the day with their loved one? Why didn't anyone come to Africa?

    ReplyDelete
  14. OH so sad Corrine...hee hee

    ReplyDelete
  15. at least she USED to be married..

    ReplyDelete
  16. Corrine better win the II tonight or she's toast.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I think someone is there, just not telling them.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The promo shows them all there. Must be coming up. I say Matty proposes tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  20. That's a new challenge... I like it!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  33. there is the loved one!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cool. Just curious. Cuz I think it is sad that Mattie is so in love, b/c they just don't look like a couple.

    ReplyDelete
  35. all the loed ones!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I love this part of the game!

    ReplyDelete
  37. these reunions always get me so choked up.

  38. At least Corinne knows she's mean.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh no Sugar's Dad's ashes, now the tears are flowing...

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't like Kenny's cockiness. Still a little early to be blowing his own horn.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Monty - you were right-on !!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Okay, now I'm bawling too!

    ReplyDelete
  43. They are really getting to spend time with their loved-ones, usually just a hug it they do not win the challenge...
OH there is the marriage proposal from the commercials...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Now, Matty has me crying.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Aww, I like Bob hugging Matty as his girlfriend was leaving

    ReplyDelete
  46. FYI:
Those Puffs "Vicks" tissues are great for your nose when you have a cold but they are not good for your eyes when you are crying!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. On the eyes, my Mom and Dad were married for 49 years when he died. His eyes were brown and hers are blue. Not married here, but my b/f of eight years and I both have blue eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hey, Jackie. How do you feel? BTW, loved your TV Squad posts on last weeks show and AR.

Great show so far....or what I have seen. I had a phone call right when the show was coming on. I hope, hope, hope Bob doesn't go home this week.

I missed Amazing Race last Sunday. I hate that Mom/Son are gone. Oh, well, they are both winners because of their family ties.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Donna: thanks for the warning, good to know :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Lol, Donna in Al. They suck at cleaning your glasses as well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. I do not like the feeling of aloe or lotion on a kleenex or tp...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'll say it again... I LOVE BOB!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Bob is nothing but a help around there. Corinne is a pain. Why don't they get rid of her?

    Hope Bob's plan works (again).

    ReplyDelete
  54. My mom and dad were married 50 years when he died 3 years ago. They both had blue eyes and all 3 of us siblings have blue eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Come on Bob you need this win...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Bob is amazing.

    Now who's going? I hope it's Corinne.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hee,hee, hee! Way to go, Bob! He needed that immunity!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Who will be going, I have no idea?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Kenny's comments might come back to bite him in the butt. Go Bob!!!

Wait, NO Don't blindside Matty... get Kenny!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Sydney, welcome. Loved the possums, we have them around here. Very secretive so rarely see them.

    ReplyDelete
  61. It was nice to see everyone with their loved ones. They really seem more like a human, good spirited bunch of contestants... though what is it with Corinne saying I'm mean and my brother gets me and likes it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. oooh delee, teal eyes sound beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Corrine isn't even sacastically mean, she is just plain mean!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Becky - Doing okay, just worked a lot of hours and tired. Thanks for the kind words about the TVS reviews. I'll be sneak peeking at a new show right here on this blog tomorrow night. Leverage, I recommend it!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm not live blogging with you these last few eps because my laptopp's batter is on the fritz... new laptop of a year and battery lasts less than 5 minutes. THANKS APPLE

    ReplyDelete
  66. Matty is gone. Bob gives Corrine the idol, they all vote for her, they write down matty's name and he is gone

    ReplyDelete
  67. Sugar IS married. Must've gotten married just after filming. This episode was filmed in February 08.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This should be interesting. Will they believe that Corinne has the real idol?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I dislike Corrine. I hope the plan does not work.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I have a feeling Corinne's plan isn't going to work.

Oh, great, now Kenny's gonna go dumb!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Kenny, I can't believe you're falling for this. Use your conniving brains, dude!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Bob cannot show Kenny the fake idol. They all saw it at the feast. This is getting tricky.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Holy Cow, maybe it is gonna work!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Why are they picking on Matty?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Sounds like its bye-bye Corrine.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I can't keep up with all the idol chit-chat. No pun intended.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm starting to get confused.

    ReplyDelete
  78. sneaky rat kenny!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I really can't stand Crystal. Don't want to see her in this at the end. (Sorry, whoever has her)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Who is the middle-aged Latino chick? And why has she lasted this long????????

    ReplyDelete
  81. Joyn - I'm right there in the confused state with ya

    ReplyDelete
  82. I am joining the confused ones.

    ReplyDelete
  83. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  84. If they all vote for Corinne and she can't play the fake idol, then she is out, right?

    ReplyDelete
  85. So what happened? She chose not to play the (fake?) idol?

    ReplyDelete
  86. YES! YES! YES! Corinne is GONE!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Who has Corinne? The tribe has spoken. My condolences :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. YEAH!!!!! I can't believe it! I thought Matty was dead in the water. Bob, you did a no-no. You will be gone next week unless you win immunity. Thank goodness Crystal didn't vote for Matty.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Wonder if Bob kept the fake idol, to try to use it later? That would be smart, because the bozos still seem to believe it's real.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Okay, so they did not switch. Kenny voted for Matty and Crystal for Corrine. That way no one knows who did not flip. Right?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Someone throw a Garmin to us over here in the State of Confusion, please. Is there a fake idol, and why was it not given/played?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Corinne is SO JEALOUS of Sugar. hahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  93. I've got to watch this again without the distraction of the keyboard. I just saw it, but I need to figure out exactly what happened and who screwed who up.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Re: eyes My husband has hazel-brown eyes and I have hazel-green eyes. He is 6'4" and I ham 5'4". We are an odd couple but we've made it through 40 years. Two children have hazel-green like me and one has blue like my dad.

Thanks for the warning about keeping tissues for the tears. Good to know!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Hummmm, would anyone else say Corrine is a poor loser? hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  96. What a lovely sweet good-bye from Corinne.

    That girl's not right.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Corinne wishing the others a miserable life is ironic, as she is such a miserable person herself.

Anybody know when the finale is? A week from this Sunday, or is that too soon?

    ReplyDelete
  98. And I agree about Crystal. Don't like her.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I'll say one thing for Corrine... she sure embraces her inner
b!tch. I'm still holding out hope for Bob. A Bob, Sugar, Kenny final 3 could win Bob this game. Well, maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  100. These last few voted off cannot get over the fact, they were out-played. I hope I would not wish anyone ill will if I were in their position.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Oh why didn't Chrystal vote out Matty?

Actually I like Matty and want him to stay in, but for the sake of that deal....

    ReplyDelete
  102. I should have said Bob, Susie and Sugar. If Kenny makes it to F3, he will win Survivor Gabon.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Petals - Corinne couldn't play the fake idol because she knew it was fake. Their only hope was to swing the vote to Matty if the others thought it was real.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yes, the idol that Bob made is fake. Corinne didn't play it, because it was only good to her as a threat to distract the others from voting for her.

Kenny and Sugar, et al, decided to split the votes between Corinne and Matty, hoping to make Corinne use the idol (which they still think is real) and that would "flush" it out of the game. And then the votes for her would not count, and Matty would go.

So, Bob can still use the threat of the idol (which only he knows is fake) next week.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Has Matty won many challenges? I cannot remember. I know NONE of the others left has won or even been on the winning team for most of them. I don't remember who was physically dominating in the beginning.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Wouldn't they all know the idol is fake since Corrine did not use it?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Matty won one with the original Fang tribe and then won the challenge where they had to hold the poles up on the backs of their hands. He was also on the golf winning team.

Matty stands a chance of winning this actually, but I don't think they will keep him around.

    ReplyDelete
  108. In the previews, it looked to me like Bob was still referring to the idol as real. They could think Corinne didn't play it because she didn't want to "waste" it when they thought that she thought that she was safe.

    :))

    ReplyDelete
  109. Thank you Survivor, now I do not have to use mascara remover tonight! Yay

    ReplyDelete
  110. Kenny apparently believed the "found" idol was real and told Crystal to be sure to vote for Corinne.....because the majority would vote for Corinne. Corinne would whip out the idol and save herself and the next highest # of votes (Matty) would then be voted out. It didn't work, of course, because the idol was fake and Corinne knew it. But why did Corinne go along with it? I must have missed something somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Joyn, Corinne thought she had them talked into voting for someone else because she had the idol. She knew it was a risk, but they didn't consult her about their plan to flush out the idol and vote for Matty. There was nothing she could do, even if she did know.

    ReplyDelete
  112. AH Ha! Thank you Clementine!

And Bob is safe for one more week, at least.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I need to just watch and then comment later.

    How DOES Jackie do this?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Tonight's episode had the majority of us scratching our heads. I'm thinking Bob will be safe if Sugar starts going with the thoughts she spoke on the promo. Crystal and/or Kenny could be the target next week.

Why hasn't anyone tried to flush out Sugar's idol? The only REAL idol! I suppose the threat of the idol is as powerful as the using the idol. They could have blindsided her tonight and she would have never seen it coming.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Petals....I have blue eyes, my husbands are green
We have been married almost 28 years (we were both married before)

    ReplyDelete
  116. Petals....sorry forgot the rest
My kids have brown eyes and Hazel green(brown eyed Dad) of the six grandchildren I have 5 brown eyes one total blue. My Mom and Dad both had blue

    ReplyDelete
  117. I have been married for 36 years and still going strong. My eyes are green. hubbys are brown.

My Mattys in love. How sweet
    RJM

    ReplyDelete
  118. Petals -- did I miss something? ARe we connection same eye color to divorce? Both our eyes are blue!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Oh my gosh.......I love this blog and I love all of your comments..I am in California and I always read everything at 6 my time to find out what happened, then I watch the show...Keep up the good work Jackie and thanks to all that recap through the show, makes it great for me...

    ReplyDelete
  120. RE EYES:
My parents have been married 58 1/2 years. Dad has yellowish brown eyes, Mom has blue. My brother & I both have brown. My husband has brown - we've been married 15 yrs. My grandparents were married 62 years - he had brown, she had blue. They had seven kids: 2 blue, 3 brown and 2 with black eyes. Seriously, you couldn't see where their iris ended and the pupil began. Supposedly, a Welsh trait.

    ReplyDelete
  121. BACK TO THE SHOW: I love Bob! When Orkmommy first posted the list and I found out she and I had the old guy, I wasn't too excited. But now I have two reasons to root for him! The guy is SMART! Hope he can outwit Kenny!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Syd - the eye thing was just a curious question I had at the moment last night. It came from my thought that Mattie & his girlfriend don't look right together. Couldn't put my finger on it...

    ReplyDelete
  123. I loved when Bob called folks on the carpet for belittling Randy. He expressed exactly what I was feeling last week. It was great to blindside Randy and it was fine to feel good about it but Sugar and Crystal carried it too far IMO.
I get such a kick out of Bob and his fake Immunity Idols. I wonder where he got the colored beads to make the one used in last night's episode. I seriously doubt they were just lying around in the wilderness.
I am afraid Bob has run out of tricks for next week. Once Bob is gone it is going to get nasty. I think Kenny will stick with Crystal to the end.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I thought the proposal by Matty was sweet, but I kept thinking in the back of my head...'how can she be kissing that dirty mouth'... sorry, I just think like that.

Bob is a marvel, and I'm hoping he'll still be able to use the fake idol to his advantage. The rest of them that know he has it aren't sure it isn't real.

Crystal just irks me no end. I have to give the weaker clan kudos for pulling off the coup (sp) but I just don't like any of them except Sugar. She holds her own with Corinne and that says a lot. She even frustrated Corinne...

I still wanted Corinne and Bob to be there next week, but oh well... outwit, outplay, outlast!!!

Coleen in So CA... welcome... have we seen you post before? Join in the discussion whenever you can. It's fun and the people on this blog will welcome you.

Jackie... Been watching the previews for Leverage and am anxious to see it. It looks like another great show to get hooked on, like we don't have enough already!

    ReplyDelete

  129. I came across this funny Christmas site http://www.wtfruitcake.com/
    Enjoy

  130. Hi Guys. I'm not going to read any of these posts yet because I had to DVR the show last night. I want to be surprised. I was forced to go to my group's Christmas Party and eat filet mignon and drink wine. It was torture I tell ya! LOL. I'll throw in my two cents after I watch the show.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Hi Guys, sorry I haven't posted much recently. Glad to see our guy is still in it RJM. Go Matty.

    EileenM

  132. orkmommy-- I sent you a reply on your blog.

I can't believe my Suzie is still in Gabon! Looks like she might be there a few more weeks...the latest targets seem to be Kenny, Matty and Bob.

I was glad to see they all got to spend time with their loved ones. Nothing about last night's show changed my mind about Corrine...she is still a mean-spirited b*tch. I guess editting must have cut alot of stuff between her and Sugar. I haven't seen Sugar do anything THAT horrible to Corrine.

rbennie--I'm sorry you had to suffer through filet mignon and wine. LOL The sacrifices we make for a job....sigh....but was there any Christmas bonus tucked under your plate?

Jackie--sounds like you are still struggling with getting your endurance back for full-time work. Will you be getting any time off during the holidays?

Does anybody know if there is going to be a winter session of Big Brother?? I really hope not! I love the show but it's my summer guilty pleasure when nothing else is on TV.

BTW--I have been watching The Mentalist and love it! Simon Baker's character is very quirky. It seems to be a scaled down version of Criminal Minds without all the blood and gore.

I decided to make scrapbooks of our Mom and family for all my sisters...so that means 3 books done by the 20th(when we are getting together). Yes, I am crazy!!

  133. off topic: last week several were talking about Real Housewives of Atlanta. Here is a link about one of the housewives and where they don't live anymore.

I could see it didn't all copy last time, hope this is better.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I deleted one comment, trying to get a link to post completely. It didn't, so just know the story is out there somewhere. : )

    ReplyDelete
  137. Oh My Goodness! Frustrating. I was trying to give a link to a story about Real Housewives of Atlanta and it turned in to a comedy of errors on my part, including blogger not taking my password etc. Sorry, I will walk away now. The post was off topic anyway. : )

    ReplyDelete
  138. Sue-

When you highlight and copy then past your link the whole thing is there so - no worries

    Margo

    ReplyDelete
  139. Margo, I did that four times and the entire thing would show when I wrote the comment, but when it posted it was incomplete. Me, I know, but still. Thanks, though. My wv was tyter. That made me laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Sue-

No I meant when I copy your like as is in your comment - the whole thing shows up when I past it in the little go to bar thingy. There was a link in her sometime in the last week or so but when I copied it the whole link shows when I past.

    Margo

    ReplyDelete
  141. Oh...now I see. Thank you Margo. You were saying there wasn't a problem. I wish my whole day had been that way! I don't even know who NeNe is... I didn't watch Atlanta Housewives, but remember there was a discussion on it a few days ago. I had an urgent letter to get in the mail when I was trying to link it...I have mailed it, am back home, and will try to calm. : ) thanks! Sue

  142. Hi all! I'm still here, just in case you missed me.

It was a good episode last night. I had a lot of interruptions while watching so I appreciate reading all of your comments on it.

When I first saw the video messages on the phone I thought whatever happened to live visits from family members? But, then I wasn't disappointed when they started coming out. It's amazing how much you miss your family after being in survival mode with strangers for just a month.

It was a Bob night. He certainly can make cool jewelry (immunity idol). He's such a great guy and I would like to see him go all the way. Wouldn't Bob be great hosting a "Mr. Wizard" type TV show?

I was thrilled to see meanie Corinne go. I was afraid the plan would backfire and we would see Matty going home. I'm wondering if Corinne really means the hateful things she says or is her malicious attitude a cover up? Wishing someone a miserable life is extremely bitter. Doesn't she know she only made herself look bad?

    meb said...
I thought the proposal by Matty was sweet, but I kept thinking in the back of my head...'how can she be kissing that dirty mouth'... sorry, I just think like that.

LOL! Meb, I thought the same thing. Isn't young love beautiful?

    Nana...

No, you're not crazy making scrap books...just a very caring person who's willing to put herself out for others. How's your Josie doing? I had to take Zoe to the vet again this week. She's been having problems with her eyes. My sweet little girl now has a cyst on the lower inner rim of her eye and it bleeds slightly. I'm treating it with two ointments from our vet but it's not looking like it's healing yet. I'm loving the Mentalist as well. Simon Baker is just so darn cute. What is it about him...his smile or that curly blonde hair? Did you know he has a strong Australian accent but manages to do his script with no accent at all.

    Jackie...

Leverage sounds like my kind of TV show. I've always loved Timothy Hutton. I can't wait to read your take on it. Is your stamina returning? I hope you're feeling better each week.

    Ciao~

  143. If anyone wants to read an interview with Corinne - there is one at: http://www.comcast.net/tv/insidesurvivor/731/castawayinterviewcorinnekaplan/

She tells why she hates Sugar so much. The comments below it are very telling as well. If Sugar ever goes to Ponderosa - watch out!

  144. I love that Corrine was aspiring to be the new Jerri Mahafey, and failed. She was unmemorable.

ORKmom!!! I am excited to pick out a postcard for lil Ork. Finally, something inexpensive enough for me to contribute to, haha.

So Suzie is the Latino chick. Wow. She is such a non-entity. The African flora & fauna get more airtime - LOL.

    **you guys are great**

  145. Nana - Unfortunately, the holidays are a busy time at my job. And, as of yesterday, my boss was in a serious car accident, so I see even more work heading my way. I will be taking some time off between Christmas and New Years.

If it comes down to a street fight, my money is on Sugar and not the bigot.

I watched Corrine's Pondersa tape and read the interview and comments.

What a small minded, hateful person. I think she will give Johnny and Jerrie from previous Survivor's a run for the title of Most Disliked Contestant in Reality Show history.

  148. Forgot to add that I too will pick up a postcard for Little O

  149. Becky, I agree. Just watched the Ponderosa clips myself. Corinne is even more miserable now than she was on the island. Unwarranted nastiness can come back to bite you in the butt and she never stops the nastiness. Maybe the hair dryer cutting out is only the beginning.

What's with Randy's mohawk? He and Corinne must get along famously. Misery loves company.
