The Amazing Race - "This Is How To Lose a Million Dollars"

Jackie's TV Blog, Amazing Race, TAR

The finale is starting on time here! I'll be writing up my review on the episode later tonight for TV Squad, but important events will be posted here. As always, everyone is invited to hang out in the comments -- that's where the real fun is!

TAMMY AND VICTOR have won The Amazing Race!

Cara and Jaime came in second.

  1. First? Is that a stupid thing to do on a blog (yes)

    ReplyDelete
  2. Can they not get out of a cab when they realize as they get in it that the cabbie is a dud like just happened with Margie and Luke? Usually people find that out when they have no choice and are lost or midway to the destination... But at the start? Does any body know?

    ReplyDelete
  3. shoulder should be the easier way to carry that pig.

    ReplyDelete
  4. You would think the others would realize hoisting it up on the shoulders is the way to go. Margie did fine and you can't tell me she's in better shape than the younger racers.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Yikes ... where is everyone? Must we get the male strippers?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Late to the party but in time to see the UGLY Jamie yelling at my fav of the two Kara.

    Hey Sydney!

    ReplyDelete
  7. lol Jackie. And yes, we must for this group!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I am watching C Apprentice and taping AR... 3 hours vs 1

    Enjoy

    ReplyDelete
  9. I did wonder why no one saw Margie and Luke hoisting the pig on their shoulders, but I guess everyone was so invloved in their won struggles no one saw the

If they do that same sound byte of Luke saying go go go again! It's only 20 minutes in and they've done it 3 times already.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Well the mom has to turn around to to reply to Luke on the back of her jetski. That is hard.

gogogo #4, 60 seconds after my last post.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Ge, what will happen with the biotches on the jet ski? I should correct that, there's only one bitoch of the two.

oh good luck on the Hana highway. IT's long and winding and there is only one gas station the whole way. hope their drivers have full tanks.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Victor looks hot on that jetski with the camera on his face....

    ReplyDelete
  13. I could never do this challenge at the end. Memory you know, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  14. the race is three weeks. didn't know that. fatigued and adrenalized... would that work well or not?

    ReplyDelete
  15. love that clip of Phil rockin' out with an almost imperceptible smirk watching the nose flute guy.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi everyone - Happy Mothers Day to all the Mom's. Luke and Margie are really doing great. Jamie and Cara got a really bad taxi - can we all say KARMA - lol

  18. Hi Monty --

    We lost Dixie to Trump!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Margo -- my thoughts exactly.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Well, that answers that. I thought you could not tell the drivers or any bookers of transpo that you're in a race for a million dollars. Either the redheads just got themselves a penalty or they have not shown people saying that in all the eps I've seen.

    ReplyDelete
  21. what ia luke wearing? a black speedo?

    ReplyDelete
  22. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, EVERYONE!

Taking telephone calls from my kids and looking at email.

Looks like Karma my have met the girls!

    ReplyDelete
  23. That answers that.... now Victor's taking the shorts off...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Victor should have this.

    ReplyDelete
  25. gotta be hard to be the girl shaking her had no.

funny, my husband just uttered karma, he has no idea what we're typing in here.

He said, those girls said at the beginning of the show, "we'll do anything to win"

I just think it's funny that he remembers things like that.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jaime will be there forever

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ow did the Reds catch up that fast???

    ReplyDelete
  28. gee, I'm kind of feeling so bad for Luke in the moment I'm sorry for them now that Victor got it first.

    ReplyDelete
  29. They can work together and compare notes?????

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm amazed that wasn't considered cheating.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow!!! They helped each other. NIce

    ReplyDelete
  32. Margie and Luke blew a big lead. I can't believe that the girls actually helped Luke.

You can tell that Luke is young and immature.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Gosh, the pressure of going all this way and having that million so so close.

It would be great if they got there and there was another challenge.. like on pRoject runway where you are two days from your big fashion show at the end, and they ask them to make an additional outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Who has Tammy and Victor? COngatulations!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well, is it wrong to say right now that they had such an advantage in the two countries that had Chinese as the language.

They did earn it, just sayin...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sucks I wanted Luke & Margie to win. Victor & Tammy got to much help in China. I would had like the redheads to win before them. I'm so disapointed!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. My ugly americans finish second. Can't believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I thought someone had said that Margie and Luke won. Even though Victor and Tammy make plenty of money I am glad they won. Especially since the girls came in second. I certainly hope the nasty one takes a hard look at herself.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Off to watch the CA! See everyone later. Oh, Happy Mother's Day to everyone. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yes, congrats to whomever had Victor and Tammy in the pool. Who also has the redheads? Margie and Luke?

    ReplyDelete
  41. To those who might be wondering about the hibiscus avatars, they are in memory of Sharon, a former member at Jackie's who went to be with the Lord last week.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry, but that was totally wrong!

If/when the cab driver doesn't know where in the hell he's going, it is, IMSNHO, the dispatcher's job to find out where the location is. SHE was the biotch this time.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Just watched my tape. Glad to see Victor and Tammy won.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just watched on the West Coast. I was OK with the outcome, as I really was not personally invested in any of the teams at the end.

Victor and Tammy earned it, but... Sydney, I totally agree that they had a "leg up" with all that time in China!

Good season! Just wish some of the more likeable teams had made it a bit further in the race.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Just got home from our Mother's Day in Orange County. We were having such a good time at my sister's house that we forgot we had a 90 minute drive home!

Missed the whole show but I have it on tape and will see it later this week. Sounds like it was good and that the right team won. Congrats to the people who won in the pool!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yeah! The nice team won. I didn't want Luke/Margie to win. I got tired of their nasty attitudes. If a handicapped person wants to be treated like everyone else, why keep bringing it up? I'm still wondering why he can't read lips.

    ReplyDelete
  47. "Sorry, but that was totally wrong!

If/when the cab driver doesn't know where in the hell he's going, it is, IMSNHO, the dispatcher's job to find out where the location is. SHE was the biotch this time."

I agree! I grew up in Hawaii. It's not a big place for goodness sakes. The cabbie was a duh.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The whole time Margie and Luke were ahead, I wanted someone to overtake them. Then when Luke was having such a problem with the surf boards, I started feeling sorry for him. Thus when Victor and Tammy won, I was a little disappointed.

Sounds silly, cause I really didn't have a favorite. I definitely didn't want the girls to win.

Oh well, another day, another million dollars.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Gotta Agree!

If it's not the cab driver/company's job to know how to get places...then who's is it? The tourist? If I was on vacation in Hawaii and my cab driver sat on the side of the road for umpteen minutes I would be LIVID!!!!!

I also think it was cheating that Luke & Jamie helped each other with the surfboards...but by that time they probably had no chance to win so the producers allowed it. Otherwise they could have been there for hours still.

I personally think Victor and Tammy deserved the win. They treated the locals in every country with the utmost respect as well as their fellow racers. They worked well as a team and approached everything with a positive outlook.

Sidenote...if I was Margie, I would have considered drowning Luke on the jet ski if he really yelled at her as many times as the editing portrayed.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Just curious, does anyone know how old Luke is?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Luke is 22 years old. Did Victor and Tammy win all the legs in China? If not, they didn't really have a leg up.

    ReplyDelete
  52. *******TAR POOL UPDATE**********
Congrats Rbennie, Delee & Dusty you have braggin rights til next season!

I thought Cara & Margie should have waited for Margie & Luke and held hands before jumping onto the mat together. Make the producers figure out who can in 2nd & 3rd. I was shocked when Jaime went back to help Luke.

    1st Tammy & Victor – Rbennie & Delee & Dusty
2nd Cara & Jaime – Nana in NW, Monty924 & Donna in AL
    3rd Margie & Luke – PDX Granny & Jeannemarie

Jennifer & Preston – Donna in FL, Karen & Leslie
Linda & Steve – Laurie, Nomad & Margo
    Brad & Victoria – Rozee & ORKMommy
    Amanda & Kris – Caroline, Sizzie & Lynn1
    Christie & Jodi – Zoetawny & SueGee
    Mel & Mike – Jackie & Becky
Mark & Michael – Sydney, Jennasmom & MEB
    LaKisha & Jennifer – KarenJC & Patti

  54. I am "AMAZED" that Tammie and Victor won the Race. Considering I wanted to trade them away because of his name... I remember being bummed and someone offered to trade with me. I said if they lost then I knew why, but if they won then at least all peeps named that were not horrible in my book!!!

Thank you again, Jackie, for supplying a safe and fun site to comment, where we can come and have fun! A few tears too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Delee: I had forgotten the name change thing. You were smart to keep it. : )

Margo, very funny wv. Thanks for doing the pool

I know on the cab ride phone convo that after all the insults mean cheerleader threw out at the world at large, it appears that it took a woman from the USA to snipe back at her.

Last night on Celebrity App, Trump asked Clint who should be fired (meaning between Annie and Joan) and Clint said 'your editor'.

I thought that was a good line. I love TAR editing, but do know that we get the slanted for a good story lines.

I could even cut Luke and Marge some slack after realizing that she was one of the few people who signed...meaning he relied on her excessively because he could talk to her. I think she was right when she said the race taught them many good things.

Thank you Jackie...You are the Best !

    ReplyDelete
  56. sizzie, thanks for sharing the line from Celeb Apprentice. That is absolutely priceless, and extremely accurate. :)

That should keep me giggling for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Delee -- love your piggie avatar.

Congrats to Dusty, RBennie, and Delee!

Margo, love the WV!!! And I have to second that invitation to everyone to stop by your blog. I thought those pictures were priceless. Y'all will get a kick out of them.

Sizzle -- I guess that Clint feels he was unduly villified? You join this show to boost your career and it may not go that way once you sign the dotted line.

  58. Anyone see Star Trek besides Delee and I?

Also, they are going to start rerunning the entire first three seasons of Dexter at the end of May on Showtime if anyone wants to start from the beginning. An excellent, twisted show! I'm amazed at the diversity of people who like it.

  59. Dancing with the stars is on if anyone wants to join in on the sidebar meet up Jackie set up for us!

  60. Is anyone watching the four part Alzheimers series that started last night (and repeats tonight and often this week) on HBO?

It does a good job of illustrating what it's really like, and that is sad but the promos say that they will lead to the scientific breakthroughs that have them thinking a cure or prevention is within their grasp. I am watching it to get to that part (I assume part 3 and 4)...

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yes Margo...thanks for doing the pool... it was fun... well until I lost of course.

Sydney...I'm not watching... and DWTS is on, but I can't watch an blog at the same time. Plus I have two things I'm taping when it's on, so I can't even watch it anymore. I rely on you guys to tell me what's going on.

I've seen one group help another group in a competition. I think it's allowed...

    ReplyDelete
  62. Well, I watched the show tonight and even knowing who was going to win, it was a good finale to watch unfold. I kept wondering how Luke and his mom could lose, but then I saw it happen. I would have been frustrated, too!

Margo, thanks for doing the pool. Even though I was out within 2 weeks, it was fun to watch others keep going!

Jackie, thanks for giving us this great place to share our thoughts about TV. I only watch a few of the shows and enjoy sharing them with my friends here.

Anyone know when BB starts? Summer will be here soon!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anonymous 10:06 AM: I know one of the episodes in China would have been won by the cheerleaders, except that it turned out not to be a pit stop. And in the competition where they had to write the Chinese letters the other teams were following along with Victor & Tammy & doing whatever they did. So although they knew the language, they didn't really have that big of an advantage as far as their lead was concerned. And, as usual, they all end up on the same flight to Maui.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Jackie, thanks so much for having this space for us to get together & discuss TAR. You're the best!
And thanks, Margo, for doing the pool!

    Ready & waiting for BB!

  65. How come you haven't said anything about Sharon dieing! Could you had not seen all the emails? I;m Sorry! Ifeel bad! Jot your fault! You made me feel happy!

  66. Your most welcome for the pool. I had fun being lifeguard. I'm thankful no one drowned with all the drinking, eating and swimming going on her in the blogspot.

Til Thursday and Survivor - GO JT. I will be in London for the finale but I will check in to see if I get braggin rights.

Go JT slay that dragon slayer!

  75. meb, thank you for posting the note from Sharon's niece. I read the update this morning, and it made me so happy to know that Sharon's family is aware of her positive impact on so many.

    ReplyDelete
  76. OFF TOPIC:

I had signed up to receive a notice if anyone else posted to Sharon's guest book. I got the following today and thought you might want to read it.

    May 10, 2009
I would just like to say thank you to all of you who have shared your condolences with our family. I am Sharon's only niece Katie, daughter of Connie. We all have had a huge loss, but knowing that so many people besides us got to enjoy her and get to know her wonderful personality is very comforting in this time. Everyone will miss her greatly, but after being with her the past year, I know that she is now free from pain, the way she deserves to be. Thank you again for all your wonderful memories of her and your support!!

  77. Thank you so much, Meb, for relaying that message.

  79. Every season that I watch The Amazing Race I have the same thought. It seems that the cab drivers change the outcome of the game. How many times has a cab driver slowed the contestants down? They need gas, they break down, they have a flat tire or they get lost. What can the players do? It's seems funny that the roadblocks don't slow people down as much as a bad cab driver.
