The Amazing Race - Season Premiere Blog Party!

Jackie's TV Blog, Amazing Race, TAR

Yes, it's that time of year again! It's time for a whirlwind exciting and hopefully very entertaining trip around the world. I think that we'll all find teams to cheer on this season -- it looks like a good bunch for the most part. I think the show might be starting late due to football, but I'll get this up on time.

As the show airs here on the East Coast, I'll update this post with major happenings. Later tonight (or at least by morning) my show review should be posted over on TV Squad. But the real fun will be during showtime right here in the comments area. LifeGuard Laurie is running the pool and here are the pool picks for those who are taking the splash --

* Andie & Jenna ... Margo, Sally, Caela
* Brook & Claire ... Jackie, ML, Lynn1
* Chad & Stephanie ... Zoetawny, Dusty, Donna in AL
* Connor & Jonathan ... Sydney, Nana of the NW,Lisanne

Teams ready? GO!

The Express Pass, new this season, will go to the winners of the first leg. It will allow them to bypass a challenge of their choice later on.

They are headed from Massachusetts to London.

Jill and Thomas were first to the pit stop, winning the Express Pass and apparently nothing else.

  2. Yes, thank you to Jackie and to Laurie!

I thought we were supposed to start at 8:30? Did someone forget to tell those silly football people again?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hi Sharon and Jackie

    ReplyDelete
  4. I know this is cruel, but I can't wait to see the episode of the girl that gets hit in the face with the watermelon. I think it is hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I think we should be starting within five minutes or so. I was watching Criminal Minds on A&E and didn't know when 60 Minutes started. Andy Rooney is finally on.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yeah its Andy. That means its almost race time!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Here we go. Sunday nights are good again and Dexter starts tonight too.

    ReplyDelete
  8. whoop whoop! TAR is starting.. right after these messages.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yay I'm excited! Hope my pool team goes far!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Jackie, I was watching Crim. Minds too. I don't know what to do when A&E has something else on and I don't have another show playing!

My pool picks are the least like me out of them all. I will have to learn to cheer for the skinny, coordinated, pretty blondes.

    ReplyDelete
  11. ok peeps. My team is Ron and Tony, but I will also be cheering on my hometown girls, Brooke and Clair.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thank you LG Laurie. Gosh, my pool female Vicki reminds me of Rachael when she talks. Hope she doesn't say much.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh, and thank you, Jackie for inviting us to share another season with you.

    ReplyDelete
  14. express pass....hmmmm....interesting twist

    ReplyDelete
  15. New twist on the game.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ready...set...go!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Here we goooooooooooo!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I LOVE those cars!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, the mom/daughter reunited team really look alike.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Smart cars... I would never own one.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hello everyone! It's only 6 pm here in sweltering SoCal but I wanted to stop by to make sure everyone was having a good time in the pool. I can't wait to see the show tonight and get things rolling!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. must be humid there?

    ReplyDelete
  23. whoo hoo! My team is first for the flight!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hey Laurie!
Thanks for the pool, waters great! HaHa

    ReplyDelete
  25. Good idea to have a compass. If you were going on TAR, what would you pack in the line of clothing? I would pack nylon pants (light), tank tops, dozen's of underwear, a lot of socks, thermal underwear (to put under nylon pants when it is cold and a down jacket. I would throw the underwear and socks away as I wore them so my back pack load would be lighter as the trip progressed. And the rest of you???

    ReplyDelete
  26. Becky-
I agree. Throw clothes away as the trip winds down. I would bring things that dry quickly and are light weight.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Really good running shoes that are broken in...

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well, my team sings their way like they're in no rush to last place. NOT GOOD. But they are making everyone laugh... which isn't bad.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I meant to say this first: YAY TAR NIGHT!!! All the world is right again, with Survivor and TAR (and Dexter, starting tonight) back on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  30. lol! different county differnt driving side.

    ReplyDelete
  31. well- it seems 1/2 my team (ron & tony) is book smart. Hopefully the other is street smart.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I drove 1900 miles in Great Britain and around 900 in Ireland. All on the wrong side...

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm not liking the short haired blonde and Chad at all. What are the chances they'll fall behind and lose tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  34. i am already confused... what way is left?

    ReplyDelete
  35. at least put your flashers one! yikes, that's scary

    ReplyDelete
  36. that sucks... to have car troubles right out of the gate

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would say she killed the transmission. When will these teams learn to drive a manuel before the show up for the race? I have no sympathy.

    ReplyDelete
  38. When will these people learn that on TAR, you MUST be able to drive stick?

    ReplyDelete
  39. They'll be waiting for another car now.

    ReplyDelete
  40. They'll be waiting for another car now.

    ReplyDelete
  41. duh! keep your foot off the clutch!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I will learn not to write a lot before sending. I had given my thoughts on some of the teams and got booted off. Delee I forgot the all important good pair of broken in running shoes. I think I would have some good orthodoxs too.

I am not liking Chad much right now.

The mom and daughter looked like they were in trouble for a bit.

My team Nick and Vicki are in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh, I wrote it helps to have a doctor as your partner when you have a health issue.

    ReplyDelete
  44. well my team (ron and tony)is out of the running for the express pass.

    ReplyDelete
  45. wow! that looks like fun!

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is a funny challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Well Becky, our good shoes will be soaked now, so 2 pairs will be smarter! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  48. I would not only learn to drive a stick shift (I know how), multi-gears and it would help if you could find someone with a England friendly car and learn to operate it.

I would also get in good shape so I could run a good distance, lift, climb, push and pull.

Heck, I will never be on TAR! Too much work. I will just stay poor.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I would be the first elimated on TAR. I can't read a map to save my life.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It did it again, kicked me off. Delee, you are right, two pair needed. One thing if you have orthodoxs you could take out the innersoles and lessen the weight.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hard to believe TAR could bump it up another level but they did...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am liking the doctors so far....

    ReplyDelete
  53. That one broadway guy looks so familiar. Are they a couple or just pals?

    ReplyDelete
  54. this is too funny!

    ReplyDelete
  55. her knight is shinning armour. with my luck, mine is wearing tinfoil.

    ReplyDelete
  56. ahhhh.. the watermelon scene

    ReplyDelete
  57. I like these challenges.

    "tinkerbell team" lol

    ReplyDelete
  58. my team (ron and tony) is going to be elimated. Phill didn't say "may"

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hey guys. Long time, no blog.
I just popped on to say that the volleyball chix are BIOTCHES! They have a raggy nickname for everyone.
    {{everyone}}

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jill and Thomas rocked in the turtle shell boat. I like them.

Chad is getting on my last nerve.

Did they have to start over if they fell out of the boat.

The girls called the nerds Glee. ROFLOL.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ouch. I dropped...ahem...two {blush} watermelons this summer, one of them on my toes. It HURTS. Her poor face. :(

    ReplyDelete
  62. Are there any teams that are "regular", as in...middle-class. Alot of doctors, Ivy-leagers, TV/entertainment personalities. Do any of the teams NEED the money? Cuz that is who I will root for. hehe

    ReplyDelete
  63. They had to go back to empty the boat and get in again -- couldn't do that in the water.

As for Ron and Tony, they claim best friends.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh Sharon!
My friend dropped a bowling ball on her foot when she was 7 months preggers. Her foot was swollen for 4 months after she had the baby.

    ReplyDelete
  65. *wondering just exactly how long does it take Juliana Marguilies to straighten her hair*

    ReplyDelete
  66. Petals-
With a good stylist about an hour.

    ReplyDelete
  67. OMG! I just realized that the girl that got hit in the face with the watermelon is my hometown girls. Boy is my face red!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks Merrilee (remember her on ER? hehe)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Cold bitch of a partner. I am shocked she didn't get a concussion or a broken cheek bone!

I wish it would have hit her partner in the face, because I would have wanted to slug her for all that "You Got this sister, I'm so proud of you," shit she was saying. Could she be more annoying? Does anyone else want to kill her? I guess that's the personality of a HSN host. Kinda as bad as Kathy-Lee (Sorry to anyone who likes her) jmho

    ReplyDelete
  70. what a beautiful locale. I wouldnt want to leave England.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Petals-
Yeah I do. I was so jealous of her because she got to kiss George Clooney all the time

    ReplyDelete
  72. Wow....glad the bowling ball only hurt her foot, but on top of all the issues your body has with pregnancy -- ouch.

    I like the "glee boys."

    ReplyDelete
  73. Syd - yeah, the hostesses are used to being all rah-rah in the face of a mishap. bwhahaha

    ReplyDelete
  74. Merr - mmmm...George....yeah. mmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  75. Sydney-
That sounds like somethng I would do and say with my best friend. But I would have told her to suck it up and throw again

    ReplyDelete
  76. I always think people who NEED money shouldn't be depending on reality shows to win it.

I like most of these teams.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Those girls are TOUGH.

Did they not have to take their back packs? Guess not.

    ReplyDelete
  78. petals-
    lol!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I can't believe how spread out the teams are in terms of even finding the castle.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I can't believe the tattoo girl had never heard of Stonehenge (oops, or "StoneHEDGE"?)

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't think Ron and Tony have a chance at all -- they're going to have trouble with the boat due to weight differences.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Jackie - I like rooting for the underdog (being one myself & all...)
Are the nerds the same a capella group that was on the talent show?

    ReplyDelete
  83. I've got Ron and Tony too. Not looking real good for them at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  84. They have had some interesting challanges so far this year.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Ok, who wants to go on TAR with me?
You have to be able to read a map, know directions, be able to 'suck it up' alot and not get frustrated when I have no clue what is going on. Oh, I can drive a stick shift. lol

    ReplyDelete
  86. durrr..."what's a battlement"??

    ReplyDelete
  87. unless my team (ron and tony) pull a mircle out their butts, they are going to be elimated.

    ReplyDelete
  88. OMG, seriously? Really. Really???

    ReplyDelete
  89. grrr... just got kicked off

Unless my team (ron and tony) pull a miracle out of their butts, they will be elimated

    ReplyDelete
  90. I really like the father and son.

My couple are NOT the smartest crayons in the box.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Nicky and Vicki are just not paying attention!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Petals, I'm in shock. Hope they never try to go on "Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader." They probably wouldn't pass the pre-test!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Becky - oh no. Are they yours? Good luck with that.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I hope they are smarter than this in their careers and common sense.

    ReplyDelete
  95. @Sharon - "duuhhhrr...what's a fifth grader"?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Merrilee, you and I would get eliminated first rattle out of the box.... but boy, would we have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Is "Humbled" Chad going to find the pit stop, or is this another red herring?

    ReplyDelete
  98. At least Nick and Vicki do not nip at each other all the time.

The off sided weight pair (friends) need to straddle the board.

Good mom and daughter are still in it! So are my guys.

    ReplyDelete
  99. The Country of London....hahahaha

    ReplyDelete
  100. Let's take a moment and reflect on the journey that my team (ron and tony) took to get to the pit stop. They were first on the flight to London, got lost somewhere in London. They forgot they were racing and went on a scenic drive. couldn't get across the river without sinking a hundred times.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Well, that was quick! My pool guys are out already!

I can root for anybody now.

    ReplyDelete
  102. The friends didn't lose their cool even when the boat kept turning over. I like them. Too bad they are gone.

Whoever has Chad and Stephenie, I apologize for being on your couple all evening.

    ReplyDelete
  103. yay! undercover boss is on. do we have a blog for that?

    ReplyDelete
  104. I missed the Survivor pool party, but I sure love the older team (being one myself & all..) LOL

    ReplyDelete
  105. See you DWTS fans tomorrow night. Will be here for Survivor too.

I got booted again, so am calling it a night.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Merr - I would love to see a woman do the Undercover show. But I can't imagine Oprah going incognito...

    ReplyDelete
  107. Petals - No, they sing in their college club. One is from Cranford, not a particularly rich town nearby, the other from Ohio. They could be on scholarships or have loans out the ears ... or both. All Princeton really means is that they're smart.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Thanks Ms Jackie. I love the music. Saw a group on one of those new talent shows.

    ReplyDelete
  109. G'nite. Meds kicking in...Missed you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Lost my pool pick, Shannon on Survivor and now my duo from TAR all in one week! Guess I'll be "freelancing" the rest of the two seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  111. hey joyn, stick with me, delee, and pdx granny... we have the doctors, nat and kat... they came in second. They're smart, and I think they'll go far... hope so anyway.

    ReplyDelete

  113. chad and stepanie live in miami, they were on the radio a week or so ago talking about TAR
had no idea he is/was such an ass.
    ugh
thought it would be the other dating couple with anger management issues but so far Chad wins that!
Seems TAR stacked the deck with many all women teams, to finally get one to win it!
like a few of the teams this time around.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Random Thoughts:

Nat and Kat seem like a strong team, while actually coming off nice.

The Home Shopping hosts are annoying, and I busted a gut when the watermelon hit her.

My Asian Dad and Me were fun, but mostly not given air time.

Ron and Tony...well, they were pretty much what I expected from their description but having not seen any video on them. Basic bad luck though getting so lost.
Still, several teams had their own versions of car problems and still managed to beat them.

The birth mother and daughter being so quiet in the car because they don't want to say the wrong thing was TENSE.

The Princeton Boys were worried about people knowing their school affiliation. They completely missed the obvious. Most people see them and think GLEE NERDS or HARRY POTTER. I'm not saying it's right, but the irony is pretty amusing. (I just realized what it is that rubs me the wrong way a little with these guys. I used to work with a 'singer' that had the same basic build/hair. He would always complain if anyone had a radio on, as it gave him a headache, yet, he was constantly singing show tunes at his desk. I realize that that is COMPLETELY UNRELATED to these guys or the show, but we all make connections like that which are hard to shake.)

To be honest, of the actual couples, I found the tattooed couple the least annoying, although they did come off as less than bright. At least, they weren't abrasive.

And my team- Katie/Rachel did ok, but so far...meh ...as far as their enterainbment value.

Good luck everybody! See you on SURVIVOR!

    -Ben
