It's here! Zoetawny was kind enough to once again make a blog logo for the show, too. She really does rock and I appreciate all of her efforts -- I can't make those animated logos at all. Thank you, Zoetawny!
Margo is running the blog pool and, as I've mentioned in previous posts, set up a separate site for joining in. The participants are assigned castaways randomly by Margo's Mom. While winning basically means bragging rights, we get to cheer on our castaway until they're, well ... cast away. The pool is closed at this time, but if you didn't get in it, just cheer on your favorite and join in on the fun!

The show will be starting in about ten minutes here on the East Coast. As it airs, I'll update this post with major news while sharing some opinions on what I see both here and in the comments area. Of course, the comments area is where the real party is! Everyone is welcome to join in, the water's fine! Oh. And bring snacks. Snacks are always good!

Kristina (I believe it's her) found an idol without clues. Watch out, Russell!
Zapatera, Russell's tribe, won the first immunity challenge.
Whoa! Phillip just called out Francesca and Kristina out on their plan to vote out Rob! And, told about the immunity idol ... sheesh, ex-Fed agent. Loose lips sink ships.
Francesca was voted out (to Redemption Island) and Kristina did not use the idol.

How did they divide these teams up? Usually they divide them up a little more even in strength. Rob is a great puzzle worker.

Last in - first out. My pool boy Fabio last time, my pool pick Francesca this time. I had this feeling from the very beginning of the show that Francesca's comments were getting too much airtime. That's usually a sign you're going.

That vote was hilarious. When they had their pow-wow on the beach, Rob said the guys would vote Francesqua (I love that, so I spelled it that way too, lol) and the girls would vote Kristina. For once, Rob got these dolts to realize he is right, and the plan worked perfectly.

Great first episode!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jackie, for continuing to blog our fav show. Margo, thank you for organizing our pool and always including me even though I'm absent most of the time.
WHOOHOO! This is the first time in Survivor history that I've ever had such great eye candy as my pool pick. Matt being a Pre-Med student isn't so bad either...looks and brains. ((((Meb))) I'm willing to share Matt with you...just not at the same time. ;)
Mike's another great looking guy and seems to be keeping a level head. We'll have to see more of his personality.
OK, just so you know I'm not being superficial about the good looking guys, David, the defense attorney just might have some tricks up his sleeve.
I know it was only the first episode but it seems as though Russell hasn't changed his game going after the young impressionable girls. Fortunately, his first pick, Stephanie, watched his season and knew his moves. I enjoyed seeing Russell's reaction and taken off balance a bit by it.
I have to rewatch because I had many distractions going on last night. I'm not sure if Francesca was the best choice of who should have been voted out. Kristina seemed much more of a threat and then there's the former Federal Marshall. Phillip is a piece of work and and I want to slap him every time he opens his mouth.
Rob's keeping rather mellow but I'm not sure how long he can keep that going.
Did you notice when anyone was secretly plotting the film editor panned in on an animal and snake as if they were eaves dropping? If only they could talk.
Oh, and why are the guys wearing their boxer/briefs? Didn't they think to wear shorts under their long pants? Wait, David was wearing a suit wasn't he? Do they get picked up and taken away by surprise? I've always wondered why many of them dress so inappropriately.
I really like the fresh new twist! Anyone who makes it on Redemption Island will certainly come back with a big grudge towards whoever voted him/her out...more drama...just what we love.

Monty, I re-watched the show and heard Rob say that about the votes. I miss so much the first time around because I keep coming back to read the blog or comment. Guess the old gray mare ain't what she used to be.

joyn: the vote went down almost the way Rob planned it. He got the five younger players together and laid out the plan to split the votes between Kristina and Francesca on "girl/boy" lines - boys vote for Francesca, girls vote for Kristina - expecting Kristina, Philip and Francesca to vote for him. The plan was to flush Kristina's immunity idol and bring it down to a tie breaker between him and Francesca - which he expected to win of course - or between all three of them in which case his group votes for Kristina. As usual impeccable planning by Boston Rob. What he hadn't foreseen was Philip voting for Franquesca.
