The Amazing Race 19 Blog Party - 10/16/2011

The show is actually starting on time here in the NYC area. I might just faint! Once it starts here, I'll update this post with the major happenings. But the real fun is in the comments; please pipe in with your thoughts! See you there!

The teams are off to Phuket, Thailand.

Detour - Helping rebuild Phuket by working with coral or set up the beach. Such a gorgeous and stunning country!

Roadblock is "Who wants to be king of the hill?" Racers have to climb a really tough rock wall. Andy and Tommy have gained a huge lead. I knew they, as snowboard champs, are of the fearless variety and would be great at almost any physical challenges.

Wow! Bill did great on the rock climbing! Meanwhile, Zac the world sailor, is having trouble navigating to the pit stop.

1. Tommy and Andy - won $5,000 each
2. Justin and Jennifer
3. Jeremy and Sandy
4. Laurence and Zac
5. Ernie and Cindy
6. Amani and Marcus
7. Bill and Cathi
8. Liz and Marie - non-Philimination leg. They're saved but will have a speed bump next week!

  1. Jackie, glad to hear your doing better.

  2. Hey Joe. What team do you want Philiminated tonight?

  3. Hi Jackie and Joe, I get to watch in real time tonight. Yay!

  4. I couldn't handle all of the flying on the Race. I fly, but I don't like it very much.

  5. Hi Jackie,

Increasingly I cheer against all "pretty" young teams! LOL

  6. When I had my SNAFUs going on vacation flights, I tried to pretend I was on TAR!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Why didn't they book the connecting flight in the first place?

    ReplyDelete
  8. I can't stay 'cause dinner is cooking but I will be checking in and out

  9. I missed the time difference for the flights, argh

  10. Well, the old leaders (Andy, Tommy, Laurence, Zac) are behind four teams. Not good for them! But I adore Bill and Cathi's taxi driver and how they "work" with cheering him on! They're my sentimental favorites due to age, of course!

  11. Hey Sue Gee. You did have your share of SNAFUs on your trip to NC. I couldn't have handled it without medication, lol.

  12. oops...the comment about flights was intended for Jackie, not Sue :)

  13. First and second to last. That stinks!

  14. Hi everyone! I'm about to go fix dinner but I wanted to stop by and say howdy to all of you.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ah, an equalizer. That helps the other teams in last.

  16. Hey, everyone!!! It is wonderful to be back to my own computer and TV set. It was a wonderful stress free week -- even though DH and I were running a senior dog assisted living facility. We kept seven dogs (including our two) while our DD's family went on vacation.

    The show just began here.

  17. Becky - Sounds like you had a RUFF week! (I crack myself up!)

Monty - My recent trips could have used my meds, but I had left them at home. Thankfully, all of the Delta people I dealt(a) with were capable and pleasant.

  18. I could tell some flight horror stories. Used to travel a bit for old job. Would not want to travel now with TSA etc. Nothing like getting into a city 8 hrs late and not knowing a sole.

  19. Hi Becky. I'm so glad the guys made up that time. I like Andy and Tommy but they aren't my team.

  20. I've never had any major problems with Delta. I don't like American at all!

  21. Love it, Jackie! Thank goodness they were all well behaved. It was a challenge keeping diets and medication straight and on time. The youngest dog was 5 1/2 and the oldest 12 1/2.

I really missed being able to watch and post at the same time.

The grandparents are so positive in the way they speak to cab drivers, etc. No wonder that all seem to want to please them.

  22. I fly SW when I can. Never had a bad experience.

Look like Tommy and Andy have regained the lead.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm with Monty. Never have any trouble with Delta. No perks, but no problems.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I hate any challenge that is subjectively judged like the beach setup.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sweet. I rather have the money than a trip after racing around the world.

  26. This was my first Delta flight since the days people smoked on planes! I like Southwest okay, but Delta ran the same price and the seats and legroom were much better, along with a seatbelt that I (as a bit larger) could easily buckle with a foot to spare. Plus, my last SW flight attendant argued with me over what I ordered to drink. I KNOW I said "Coke Zero" - don't tell me I only said Coke. Proper customer service would be "On, I must have misheard you." She really ticked me off.

My recent Delta flight attendants, gate agents and woman on the phone when the computer glitched and dropped my first leg going home were exemplary. I will be using Delta again, for sure.

    Glad you're felling better Jackie!

  29. I did miss the perks that used to come with flying, like something to eat and a movie to distract you. But now I just watch movies on my iPod or listen to music and I'm good to go.

I hope the two lost isn't just a distraction from my team being last. They're not moving too fast yet again.

    ReplyDelete
  30. These two snowboarders have surprised me this entire race. Go guys!!!

    Penny

    ReplyDelete
  31. Monty - One of the Delta FA sneaked me extra cookies because I said I liked them. :-)

At least my blog pool team is hanging in - Marcus and Amani. I actually do like them.

But I think the snowboarders are going to have a huge edge the whole race. They're fearless and athletic. And, they seem to be fairly bright as well.

  32. Monty, I like Bill and Cathi, too. I'd like to see them mov

    Pennye up.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bill and Cathi made it so I'm good this week. I do wish they'd pick up the pace a little but they're pleasant to watch. They don't fight constantly. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Man, I can't type worth beans tonight!

    Penny

    ReplyDelete
  35. Bill climbed that rock wall like a kid! I would love it if they won. But they do need to get up further in the pack.

    ReplyDelete
  36. The twins get flustered too easily; and Ernie and Cindi are SO clueless sometimes. These two teams need a major overhaul.

  37. It was nice getting to watch and chat in real time tonight.

Everyone have a good week and I'll see you all on Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  38. My team is in trouble. Cyndi and Ernie finally found the correct place. Looks like they have smoked it.

I like Bill and Cathi a lot. Also the father and son.

I really hate couples who bicker a lot. Why or why does anyone think that a game like this would "make them closer"? It would be a good way to end a relationship early.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ernie - well - duh?

    Penny

    ReplyDelete
  40. Becki, they're still going better than the twins.

I was not for the snowborders until the one where they had to give all their money to the orphanage. They are very observant.

I really like how spry Bill and Cathi seem to be.

  41. I'm beginning to realize, I am behind on the show. We had a game and it delayed our showing. So, now I feel foolish. Oh well.

    Penny

    ReplyDelete
  42. Penny - I know that feeling as WE are usually delayed here!
