I lived in Arkansas for 16 years, my first month there the news covered a KKK rally like it was a festival. I think CBS is just trying to show racism is still just as bad as ever. I did research on modern day racism & you'd be surprised that its more small town than just the south. All over the country there are "Sundown Towns"

I haven't read every comment here but I believe anything said about people from the south is just a comment on what Aaryn is saying. She has said, multiple times, that shes from the south and that's why people think she says what she says. She's nasty no matter where she calls home!

He confessed his religion conflicting terribly with this game. Sad thing is when confronted by people he likes he has hard time lying that is refreshing to see him struggle knowing he is lying.

I moved west five years ago, and since then I've only been reading, not commenting. Knowing there are other west coasties here makes me wonder if we could always have a west coast conversation three hours after the easterners discuss the show.

We are both Christians and enjoyed listening to the same music. I felt safer with him than most of the light skinned men there. I think to beat racism good people need to act how we feel. The sad thing (I should say, one of the sad things -- this was just a depressing episode for many reasons) is that I think Aaryn will get kicked out of the house, discover she's become a TV villain, and she'll only feel like a victim. She'll blame her "overly sensitive" room mates and "bad editing" and everyone but herself for her atrocious behavior. I don't think she'll learn a thing. I think that's probably true of everyone who's said nasty stuff on the show. No one will change.
I agree with the last commenter who said that Aaryn will just say she was misunderstood. She seems VERY efensive about her actions, and in complete denial.
ReplyDeleteRacism exists in every state, sadly. As does homophobia, sexism and anti-semitism-- t's not forget those! But for me, it seems that people who are raised in a non-diverse environment are more prone to it. In my company we have some diversity sensitivity training, it doesn't solve everything but at least it's an attempt. Aaryn needs about a year of it at least!

I said this before and I'll say it again. Aaryn is a product of her upbringing. I guarantee you she's learned every bit of her racist, homophobic, bigoted behavior at home. Her parents must be so proud. There's an obvious reason her name is spelled the way it is. Most spelling of her name are either Aaron or Erin not a spelling so close to ARYAN...I would almost wonder if her parents aren't White Supremacists...

The one thing I don't understand is why Kaitlyn seems to be getting a huge pass with her horrendous behavior. She is every bit as bad and her eyes show how much she enjoys it.
GM has made enough remarks to get her fired too. She would like to be on the same level as Aryan and Kaitlyn, but she mostly comes off as really low-class. No clue how she managed to get in the beauty pageant business with that mouth!
