Survivor: Blood vs. Water Season Premiere Blog Party

Okay .... Survivor fans ready? Tonight is the big season premiere! If you're like me, you've already checked out Jeff's cast assessment and the clip of the first seven minutes of tonight's show on cbs.com.

Hmm. I'm not really keen on returning players on reality competition shows. At least this time, there's a bit more of a twist than your basic fans vs. favorites scenario. The show starts out with the cast spending a night alone on the island (?) with their loved one, alone. But then the returning players are put on one tribe, the loved ones on the other. That's my understanding, anyway.

It's definitely a set-up for drama. Will people shy away from beating their loved ones in challenges? In the end, will a loved one vote against his or her real-life relationship partner? Once the merge goes down, will the blood work together or with original tribemates? There can only be one winner.

Jeff seems quite impressed with Aras and his brother, as well as Big Brother winner Hayden. I'm just personally surprised that Hayden is in a relationship with Crazy Kat! Jeff also says we'll see a different Colton. I reserve judgment on that one although his partner seems pleasant and likable.

As the show airs tonight on the East Coast, I'll update this entry with the major happenings -- so refresh to get the latest news! Immediately after the show, the blog party of the season finale of Big Brother 15 will be up. So, at that time, move onto that post those of you following that show!

The esteemed and lovable LifeGuard Laurie has compiled the random drawings for the pool and here they are (if you didn't make the cut-off of 3pm ET yesterday, feel free to pick your own castaway to cheer on!):

ARAS -- Donna in FL, MikesGirl
BRAD --Brent McKee, Kelly D. Sharon N.
CALEB -- Glenn, ORKMommy
CANDICE -- Dusty, Monty924
CIERA -- Andrea J, Karen in CA, Rochelle
COLTON -- Gaylos, Nickelpeed
GERVASE -- Jackie, Pam in NJ
HAYDEN -- Joanie, Quixotic Elf
JOHN -- Ed in Ohio, Nana in the NW
KAT -- Jig, Petals
KATIE -- David, Margo, Zoetawny
LAURA B -- Buzzmaan, Laurie, SueGee
LAURA M -- AlbGlinka, JOKATS, rbennie
MARISSA -- Jennas Mom, PDX Granny
MONICA -- Becky, KayBeeRN, Russ
RACHEL -- Donna in AL, Merrilee
RUPERT -- Brian, Kelsey NY, Sharon S.
TINA -- Cheryl in NC, Lynn1, Terry in TX
TYSON -- Delee, meb
VYTAS -- Donna NY, ML

All that said, the party is really in the comments area. Come join us!

They all gather together with Jeff after their night with the loved one bit. Jeff tells them they won't be playing WITH the loved one, but AGAINST said loved one. Most are looking forward to it. Jeff splits them up by new players and returning players.

Yikes! Each tribe has to vote someone out now! Uh-oh ... Laura, Rupert's wife, gets the can. Candice got the can(dice) on the returning players tribe. Oh my. Jeff says they're not out of the game -- Redemption Island is in play this season.

Jeff offered the loved ones to switch with those voted out. Rupert does so and Laura goes to the returning players tribe in his place. He will have to duel for redemption to get back in. John says that he thinks Candace can beat Rupert in the duels. He stays with the new player tribe.

Immunity Challenge time. Racing through water, puzzle pieces, put together a ship's wheel, raise the flag. They're also playing for flint. The old-timers already have a fire thanks to Tyson, but the new players need it! Gervase is dragging his team down. Eep. But during the puzzle, returning players take on the lead.

Galang wins Immunity. That would be the returning players.

The newbies have already got a male alliance of five men together with only four women on the tribe.

Tribal Council time.

Grr. Marissa got the boot mainly because she's female and Gervase gloated over winning.

  1. Hey Jackie and all Survivors. Ready here.

    Burgers and brats on the grill over at the bar.

  2. WOOOHOOOOOO~ I am SO excited for this season!!! Jackie, thank you so much for blogging this. Appreciate it so much.

    Now, even though I have Colton (UGH!) as my pool pick, I am not rooting for him. My pick is for Hayden. I can see him doing well because he's very easy to get a long with and he good in challenges. This is so different than BB, but he's very mentally tough.

    LET THE BACKSTABBING BEGIN!

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hi folks.

    Very excited at the return of Survivor.

  4. ~*~*~*~~* SPLASH ~*~*~*~*~

    Hey everyone! Whoooo!! What a night!
    Thank you Ms Jackie, for being the hostess-with-the-mostest, as always!

    I have Kat in the pool (thanks for squeezing me in, Lifeguard Laurie!

    I have a KEG of Heineken (b/c everyone likes a little Heinie)

    ReplyDelete
  5. I also love Gervase. I'm hoping he does well. I know he was a slacker in Borneo, but I really like him.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Of this whole cast, Gervase is the oddest one to me. He was such a nothing on his season. Can't believe they brought him back all these years later.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Heineken... great! Hey Penny, Petals, and Joe.

    I'm pacing myself tonight, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Petals, you are so funny!!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hey, Jackie, Monty, Penny and all Survivor fans! Looking forward to a show that we can all look forward to -- unlike the way Big Brother has turned out this season. Thank goodness we can bury THAT show after tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Weren't Tyson and Candice a thing during their season? Could be interesting how they will work together or not and with her husband and his girlfriend.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I kind of like Caleb and Aras's brother. Hope they do well, also.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hi Becky. See you brought your scuba beagle tonight. :)))

    ReplyDelete
  13. I have Monica... but love Rupert!

    ReplyDelete
  14. You know, the one interesting thing from the intros: it's not a level playing field. There are some "teams" that are mutually supportive, like Rupert and his wife, while some "teams" are competitive.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hi Gang! Heineken & a Burger sounds great. Her's to a new season.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hey Survivors!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yep, he said the wrong thing.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It is also interesting that they chose to put them on opposite teams. There would be much more angst, drama and desperation if they were on the same team because they would be trying to get votes to save their "blood" and then they'd have to watch them get voted out in person.

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's interesting to hear Aras talk about him animosity with his brother. This really ought to be a excellent season.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Do you think the person voted out will go to the other tribe?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Probst pulling the rug out ha

    ReplyDelete
  22. I think they go to exile and battle each other but could be wrong

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm not the Survivor savant that some of you guys are. I forgot Aras, Kat, and several other returners. I remember that bitchy Colton. I hope they vote-out Colton.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think if the the other person takes their loved ones place, they go to the other team.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow, look at the look on Rupert's face!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hey Ohio homie (Ed) and Jon.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ouch, I could be out quick here.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Obviously they are voting-out past winners. Wow

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm really surprised Colton didn't get any votes

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hey Monty, Petals

    ReplyDelete
  31. I feel sorry for her, too. Dang.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi Monty 'Buckeye Bud'

    What's with the early vote? Doesn't seem fair

    ReplyDelete
  33. Candace was pretty memorable. I'm surprised they all claim to NOT knwo her.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My early dementia is roaring: I have no clue who Candace is.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Rupert is already bucking for fan favorite!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Rupert, Rupert, Rupert, this is why you never make it to the end. That's Rupert, though.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Of course, now Candice's "significant other" has no choice. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  38. Gary loves Rupert. So do I, wow.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm like you Petals I watch Survivor but some of these guys I have no clue on lol

    ReplyDelete
  40. Let her out to dry ha

    ReplyDelete
  41. John ain't so willing!

    ReplyDelete
  42. well jeepers. If SHE can beat Rupert, can't you?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I wish he had not done that. They really did need him. Phooey.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Except saving her butt ha

    ReplyDelete
  45. wow. He looks like a real dou**ebag.

    ReplyDelete
  46. John's my pool pick...not sure about him right off the bat??

    ReplyDelete
  47. That makes John's decision look stupid on a couple levels. He didn't follow Rupert's lead. He wants to "do everything to save his wife", which means taking her place if you ask me. He thinks she can beat Rupert, but what about the next 5 people who go to Redemption Island.

    Candace, you married beneath yourself. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  48. BTW, when I say words like ain't -- I know it is not correct. This turn of events ain't nice!

    Why didn't they throw Colton out? I remember what a horse hiney he was his season.

    I don't remember a lot of the vets.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Rupert will probably dominate Redemption Island & come back a hero.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Am I the only one who will be happy if Rupert gets the boot? Not a fan. I'm Rupert'd out. He's been on too often and never plays up to his growls and howls. Your mileage may vary ...

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't know. Laura is not being well accepted. They wanted to play with Rupert...interesting. How long do you think she'll last???

    ReplyDelete
  52. Laura's got some work to do!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Monty, yes, the Beagle is back. I didn't use it Sunday in honor of Jackie's birthday and Vincent's Gotcha Day.

    What's the bad attitude about Laura from the dude?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Why is he cutting that towards his wang OMG

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi Becky, how was Pebbles tonight? My prayers are still with her!

    ReplyDelete
  56. HI Jackie & everyone. I'm late but I am here

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wow, we got two prima dona's here, don't we. Well, they won't last long, IMO. Even thought they are strong.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lifeguard Laurie thank you for not picking my name to go with Colton's

    ReplyDelete
  59. Be careful Hayden. You guys need to be well aware what's happening...yikes. Too soon? We'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hey Sharon, Becky, Penny, Jon, BFJoe & Monty.

    Jackie, I'm not Rupert'd-out. I like him.
    Hayden looks good.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Can we vote him out now lol

    ReplyDelete
  62. Brad's getting a little 'aggressive'. Must be the NFL in him.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Don't care for that guy at all.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Well, she gave him to me, Lynn! Yuck, yuck. But that's okay. He's not my personal pick. I hope he's out fast

    However, John is really pushing out there to play the game right out of the gate. Hope it doesn't backfire on him.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hi everyone! I haven't read anything yet but I wanted to let you know I'm here. Since I'm in California, I won't be seeing the show for a few hours yet. I am excited to see it. I hope you are happy with your pool person. ha! As they were drawn from the bag, I groaned for some of you. It really was random! Remember, it's all for fun.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Penny, I sent out an update letter a bit ago. The vet just called. She is on an IV, slept most of the day, is going to the bathroom. I am just so thankful it isn't cancer.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Same with Brad. He might be way too aggressive for his own good.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hey Lynn. Keg o'Heineken at the bar!

    ReplyDelete
  69. Becky, I just read the upgrade. I am very happy it's not cancer. Renal failure is a much better prognosis. I can't imagine how much she misses Maggie, also. Such a sweet dog. My prayers to her.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Penny I am sorry for you about Colton. I have Tina and I doubt she will last long

    ReplyDelete
  71. Thanks Petal I am a world famous Heine sucker you know! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  72. Penny, furry prayers for you.

    Keira actually had her 3rd knee surgery today. She's overnight at the vet, so I'm totally understanding how you're feeling.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Why don't the people learn to make fire BEFORE they get out there.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Love it when family comes in and totally distracts you, NOT. I've missed so much. I'll have to catch up later. Hand me a drink!

    ReplyDelete
  75. It wonderful that he can speak about this. He's come a long way. Good for him.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Penny, thank you for asking about Pebs and thank you for the prayers for her. I just hope they get the kidney's flushed and her back on her feet.

    ReplyDelete
  77. My prayers to Keira, Joe. I feel bad for her. 3 knee surgeries. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Howdy everyone!!

    ~~~~SPLASH~~~~
    I'll be in and out of the pool for a while tonight. Don't think I have ever been out of the pool this quick before!!
    SueGee on the Left Coast
    ReplyDelete
  79. Jackie, I always liked Rupert. But I agree with you about his bark being worse than his bite. Did he ever win anything?
    ReplyDelete
  80. I have to agree with Colton. What happens to you when you are young, makes you what you are today. However, you can change that once you are an adult. Gosh, my daughter was bullied quite bit. I would actually cry for her. She was so shy and kids used that to torment her. Now she's an adult and a little different. Still an introvert, but very confident in herself. I love that in her.
    ReplyDelete
  81. Okay, if she can make fire, why can't the family team make fire? I guess it looks easier than done. I know I would have problems making fire. LOL.
    ReplyDelete
  82. Rupert is an ass to not pitch in and help out. Makes me want Candice to beat him.
    Joe, do they think they have Keira's problem corrected?
    ReplyDelete
  83. Rupert & Candace actually have it better than the newbies do
    ReplyDelete
  84. Joe - Other than fan favorite, I don't think he's even ever won individual immunity. I could be wrong on that, though.
    ReplyDelete
  85. My apologies to all of you for me going OT here. We just lost our 13 year old dog in July and now our 14 year old one is sick.
    ReplyDelete
  86. What I liked about Rupert is the way he spent his Favorite money. He used it all on helping kids.
    ReplyDelete
  87. Sorry to hear that Becky. My dog will be 15 next month and is starting to have trouble getting around. He can no longer jump up on things anymore.
    ReplyDelete
  88. I like that about Rupert, too, Becky. He spent his money on kids. He didn't go out an buy a fancy car, etc., he spent it on the kids he mentors. I thought that was great.
    ReplyDelete
  89. Nickelpeed,
    I'm on the west coast so not sure what has happened. I have Haden in the pool, I'll swap with you. Maybe Colton has learned how to treat peeps.
    Joanie
    ReplyDelete
  90. Well, I have to root for the family members because they need fire. But, the returnees are very smart, so we'll see.
    ReplyDelete
  91. Come on newbies
    Cheryl
    ReplyDelete
  92. HI Becky,
    Each of the 3 surgeries was correcting a different problem. Hopefully, she won't injure it again. Big dogs, always problematic. And she's a little high strung. Even in pain with the torn meniscus (today's surgery) she was hopping all over the vet's office kissing everyone.
    ReplyDelete
  93. Joanie,
    Thank you for the offer. I don't mind switching; and I do think he has changed; but Hayden is tough. You sure you want to switch? LOL
    I don't even know if we can do that.
    ReplyDelete
  94. Gervase is getting the weak link edit
    ReplyDelete
  95. That's the Gervase I remember from Borneo. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  96. Oooooh, Gervace. He hasn't changed much, has he? He couldn't swim the first time. Why didn't he learn????
    ReplyDelete
  97. Well, if the Gerves's team loses, I know who will go home.
    ReplyDelete
  98. Rupert may soon have his wife with him on Redemption...
    ReplyDelete
  99. Whoa. You would think they knew how to paddle? Holy cow!!!
    ReplyDelete
  100. The newbies are showing a much better team effort.
    ReplyDelete
  101. Wow, the returnees are catching up.
    ReplyDelete
  102. sincerest *PRAYERS* for all the four-legged babies.
    ReplyDelete
  103. This is where Tina has the advantage. Unbelievable. That was good!!!
    ReplyDelete
  104. Seriously, Gervas is shouting? The man almost died in the water.
    ReplyDelete
  105. Those women were incredible!
    ReplyDelete
  106. I hate to say it, but I kind of liked Evil Colton better. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  107. I really despised Colton before, and I just can't take his boo-boo-hooing. Geeminy!
    ReplyDelete
  108. Nickel
    If Laurie doesn't let us switch it can be just between us. I'm willing to take a chance on the zebra changing his stripes.
    ReplyDelete
  109. I like that Colton lost the arrogance and hatefulness but his crying all the time is already old to me
    ReplyDelete
  110. Who goes on survivor with out learning to swim and make fire these days....geez after all this time they should know what's important.
    Cheryl
    ReplyDelete
  111. Joe, is she on crate rest? David, what kind of dog do you have and what is his name? I will send up doggy prayers for both of them.
    ReplyDelete
  112. Okay, who do you think goes? Brad? John? Or one of the women?
    If they are smart, they will keep the men. Most of them are very strong.
    ReplyDelete
  113. Cheryl, Gervace's inability to swim was a huge hindrance to his first go-round. I am shocked that he STILL hasn't at learned.
    ReplyDelete
  114. If Rupert had not switched with his wife they probably would ave voted Laura out again.
    ReplyDelete
  115. I have a favor to ask everyone. I go in for surgery Friday to get my gallbladder out. Could you all say a prayer for me?
    It's a pretty simple procedure. I've been in pain for 3 1/2 weeks and they finally decided, yes, it is my gall bladder. She's also going to repair a small hernia.
    I'll be in and out the same day. Anxious to get rid of this horrible pain.
    ReplyDelete
  116. I like Marissa. LOL. Tell it like it is. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  117. Penny good luck and I will keep you in my prayers
    ReplyDelete
  118. My picture is my Rottie. Wizard. I will say a prayers for both also. I hope I can manage him getting around with pain meds. I will hate it it I have to put him down.
    ReplyDelete
  119. I think Gervas give his niece the kiss of death.
    ReplyDelete
  120. Wow. Smart of the guys.
    ReplyDelete
  121. He's kind of right. It will hurt Tina if her daughter is voted out. The good thing (I guess) is that she will have a chance to redeem herself.
    Wouldn't it be a kick if Rupert looses his battle at Redemption?
    ReplyDelete
  122. Jeff said whoever gets voted out will have to play Laura. what happened to Rupert. Did I blink and miss him losing to Laura?
    ReplyDelete
  123. The girls screwed themselves by voting out a girl to start the game...haha...little did they know
    Cheryl
    ReplyDelete
  124. Becky, Keira has been on "rest" for almost 6 months now. She tore a cruciate ligament at the end of March. Then she tore the second one 2 weeks later. Then we did one knee, then 8 weeks later the other knee. She was 7 weeks into the second knee and walking GREAT and she tore the dang meniscus. So after resting it for another 5 weeks, we did the surgery today.
    Kind of annoys me because I KNEW it was a meniscus 5 weeks ago. But there's no easy diagnostic and they kept telling me to rest her and see if it got better. Surgeon told me it was a huge tear. Poor thing was probably in a lot of pain when walking...not that she took it too easy.
    The good news is the meniscus is only about a 2 week recovery. She almost came home today but at the last minute they wanted to give her more pain meds.
    Worst thing is the need to keep rehabbing her. Every surgery and rest results in significant loss of muscle mass. Then we build it up again, but the next surgery knocks her back down.
    It's been 6 months of just total heart break for me. Good thing she's such a trooper. First chance we get to safely do it, I'm going to just turn her loose in the park and let her run her butt off!
    ReplyDelete
  125. Prayers for you too, Nickel. We don't discriminate against the fur-less. :)
    ReplyDelete
  126. Praying for you nickel.
    Cheryl
    ReplyDelete
  127. Penny, you will certainly be in my prayers.
    David, try acupuncture for Wizard. It is better than some of the pain medication that can damage to liver. We had it done on Pebbles years ago and it worked wonders. She did so well that I have had it done on me with good results.
    ReplyDelete
  128. Your Rottie is beautiful, David. I know how you feel. I was blindsided by my two dogs I lost. My first dog, Scrappy, was poisoned. Someone drained their radiator and it dribbled down hill and my Scrappy took a lick. I was so sure he'd come out of it, so I let the vet try to save him.
    If I had just known at the time how deathly it was for dogs, I probably would have eased his pain and put him down. I cried for so long. Then my Binx never showed any signs of being sick. He started shivering, so I chocked it up as him being old (17) and bought him sweaters. He kept on shaking still, so I brought him to the Vet and she said he had pancreaitis. I let him stay the night and that was it. It is so hard losing a pet. Just makes me cry thinking about it.
    ReplyDelete
  129. Prayers for quick healing and a speedy recovery, Penny. HUGS
    ReplyDelete
  130. Prayers for you also Nickle. Internal pains are really hard on you because there is really nothing you can do for them but pills.
    I am an hour behind you all. This is really interesting. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  131. Joe, my daughter's little chihuahua had her back knee operated on about 4 months ago. It's amazing how they recover. She's a little trooper. I am so glad Keira is doing so well. Prayers.
    ReplyDelete
  132. Penny,
    Gall Bladder is a relatively simple procedure but be sure follow your surgeon's orders and take it easy, as recommended. It's too easy to feel ok and overdo.
    I had mine removed and felt so good, I stood for too long, cleaning up the dishes and kitchen after a dinner party... a serious mistake! It took 3 more days to recover from that bad decision!
    ReplyDelete
  133. I feel bad for her. She did nothing wrong. Poor girl.
    ReplyDelete
  134. I hope Gervas is proud of himself! And I hope he is voted out next!
    ReplyDelete
  135. I can't believe I've missed the majority of this show. Okay, not speaking to anyone in my house for the next 90 minutes. It's BB time, so leave me alone. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  136. Can't believe they didn't vote out Colton at the get-go. He was so awful last time, and JMO, I doubt there's much improvement.
    ReplyDelete
  137. She wasn't a happy camper!
    ReplyDelete
  138. She got screwed..
    Cheryl
    ReplyDelete
  139. *towling-off*
    I'm rolling my Heinie keg over to the Big Brother finale side of the pool.
    *drags leopard-print floatie*
    ReplyDelete
  140. Thanks for hosting us, Jackie. Will be going to the next blog for the end of Big Brother. And celebrating just because it is over. You will start a new one, correct?
    ReplyDelete
  141. Thanks, Sharon. I heard it's pretty easy. I told her I was going to go back to work next Thursday. I can sit if need be.
    I have an accupuncture tomorrow night. Will have to take pain medicine to lie down, though.
    I'm anxious to get it done. It was fast. I saw my doctor Tuesday and she put me in Friday. Bumped two other people. It needs to come out. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  142. Well, everyone....on to BB. THAT will be interesting. See everyone in Survivor next week!!!
    ReplyDelete
  143. Uh, oh. Sure Lynn...I'll switch. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  144. Wouldn't you know.. my pool guy is BRAD.. the newby dweeb. @@
    I already dislike him fairly intensely. LOL
    ReplyDelete
  145. Damn, my pool pick is Colton...and I can't stand him. Won't be rooting for him, sorry.
    ReplyDelete
  146. I know it's 3 hours late, but what exactly did Colton think he was doing with that saw?
    ReplyDelete
  147. I finally got to see the first show last night - and I don't think we will have a problem finding a drinking word/action this season. We just wait until Colton cries!! Don't think he will last long though...
  149. AlbGlinka checking in on Friday! (Wednesdays and Thursdays are busy night's for me!). So: Colton will not change his stripes it appears. No one commented on his saying to one of his fellow paddlers ""I'll smack you!". My guess is: very abusive upbringing, not just gay bullying.
    My pool pick is Laura M. and I have hopes for her! She's getting several talking head interviews. Almost got voted to Redemption first but squeaked by!
