The Amazing Race 27: October 23 Blog Party

Hi, everybody! As the show airs here tonight, I'll be updating this entry with the major happenings. Refresh the page to get the latest news! As always, the real party is in the comments area. Come join in on the fun!

Last week the leg didn't really end and all teams are still in it. I wonder how the Texans and Justin/Diana will get along now since the teams promised not to and didn't use the U-Turn. Then there's that pesky leftover Express Pass that Texas has to give to another team (after they screwed up and wasted the use of their own pass). Will they be smart enough to pass it on to the worst team? Who is the worst team right now? Hmm.

Ready? Let's GO!

Okay, the Texans decided to give the Express Pass to Denise and James Earl because they've worked with them before and they also don't consider them a threat for the win.

The other teams are going through the Pit Stop with the continuation. Hmm ... Denise and James Earl are running in third. Were they the right choice?

Roadblock: Who wants to gorge themselves? It's a revisit of the first challenge ever on the show ... a zip line over the Zambizi (sp?) River gorge.

Detour: Crocs or Canoes -- Feed a crocodile *while in a protective cage. Or, canoe down the (dangerous) river and retrieve the clue from a vulture's nest.

Cindy and Rick are team five at the first pit stop. Logan and Chris are six and didn't want to give all the money to the orphans. Huh.Jazmine and Danielle number seven. Krista and Tiffany are eight and U-Turned the Green Team (which is already way ahead of them, D'oh!)

Cindy/Rick and Logan/Chris both went the wrong way (one team following the other) to the Roadblock and now the other remaining teams are ahead of them.

The clue after the Roadblock heads them to the "Lion Encounter." Justin and Diana remain first, the Texans second.

At the crocodiles, Denise and James Earl use their Express Pass.

In Lion Encounter, they must walk with lions to find their next clue. Justin and Diana go first, followed by James Earl and Denise. Logan and Chris are behind everyone. Logan fusses and they decide to go to the Canoe Detour. Now they decide to stay at the crocodiles.

The Pit Stop is the Masuwe Wild Game Reserve and they must deliver fruit to it -- in baskets on their heads!

Pit Stop:
1. Denise and James Earl -- win a trip to Slovakia
2. Justin and Diana

Jazmine and Danielle screw up and go to the pit stop instead of the Lion Encounter. They head back.

3. Tanner and Josh
4. Kelsey and Joey

Then Jazmine and Danielle didn't read the clue and now have to do it over again with the lions.

5. Tiffany and Krista
6. Logan and Chris
7. Cindy and Rick
8. Jazmine and Danielle -- Philiminated

  12. That would scare the crap out of me, but I'd probably do it

    ReplyDelete
  13. I made a pot of ham & beans and some corn bread. The smell is making me drool

  20. I want to touch the elephant?

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is great... Team Green still beating the Texans

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have actually ridden on an elephant!

    ReplyDelete
  23. They shudda u turned the cheerleaders

    ReplyDelete
  24. The Cheerleaders u-turned the green team. If they're already passed it, do the still get u-turned? Help me Jackie or someone who knows. I can't rememember.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I almost ran off the road once when I saw an elephant walking alongside said road. Right here in New Jersey! It had walked out of its fence at a small local zoo. I was new here and had no clue a zoo even existed!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Monty - You can only successfully U-Turn people behind you.

  28. Many years ago when Marine World was called Marine World Africa USA and you could pay to ride LOL It was fun but short as I recall.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks, Jackie. That's what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure :))

    ReplyDelete
  30. I meant the reporters should have u turned the cheerleaders. Once you're passed through it, it doesn't matter.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That would scare me Jackie!! Bad enough at the circus when they were running around the arena at full speed and one took off like it was going for the exit right where we were sitting!

    ReplyDelete
  32. That bungee jump looks awful scary! Uncontrolled.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 1-0 KC if anyone is interested

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah, I know SueGee. I was just going back to my comment from before... the "what??"

Had to break out the ice cream sandwiches. I have vanilla and neapolitan. Dig in!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I want to feed crocodiles and walk with lions!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Does anyone else want to slap.both reporters?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I scream for Ice Cream!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sue -- I was more in shock than anything. I mean, I've seen cows and hogs walking along the road, deer, raccoons ... but you don't expect an elephant all by itself just walking on the shoulder of the road!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Now KC up 2-0....2 solo homers ......back to TAR!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't think I will ever make it to Africa, so maybe I should plan on going to one of those safari parks here that you drive through. That would be pretty neat.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jackie, I was driving in the snow down a KY state highway (two lane) years ago on a home care visit and everything that day had gone wrong and I was running late. Came over a rise and had to slam on my breaks with an 18 wheeler on my bumper. A cow standing right in the middle of the road.

    ReplyDelete
  42. *brakes ... I can't spell tonight

    ReplyDelete
  43. I was going to say I brought Pecan Pie Ice Cream. Guess Jackie can keep it in her freezer until next week.

Jackie, what did you think when you saw the elephant?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good for Denise and James Earl

    ReplyDelete
  45. Wrong time to use Express Pass again? Everyone knows how fast things change and if you aren't near the back of the pack you should save it!

    ReplyDelete
  46. But winning the trip may be worth it????

    ReplyDelete
  47. How often teams just don't read the clues!

    ReplyDelete
  48. READ THE CLUES ALL THE WAY THROUGH!!! That and learn to drive a stick shift. Did I leave out any other subjects ever competitor should learn?

    ReplyDelete
  49. I know, Ed and Becky. You would think that people who are fans of the show would know those things, but we see it every season.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Becky - After staring at it and veering into the opposite lane (thankfully no one coming, it was early morning), I pulled over and stared at it. I had no camera nor cell phone (20 years ago). A man came along on foot and led it away. Then I saw a sign -- Scotch Plains Zoo. After that encounter, I slowed down and looked at the animals every time I drove by. The zoo closed down years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Even when we had an all-star season some still could not drive a stick!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. SueGee -- They were told they had to use the Express Pass during this leg, if memory serves.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm really surprised my Cheerleaders are still in it!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I will watch for that Jackie. Thanks for the explanation. (One benefit of chatting now and watching later when it is on here)

    ReplyDelete
  55. See yall wednesday. Thanks jackie

    ReplyDelete
  56. Good show, hard tasks I think. Jackie thank you for hosting. Enjoy the Pecan Pie Ice Cream. I will bring some more next week.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Good Night! Thanks for all the good 'grub' & treats!

    Thanks Jackie!

    & to my homie......O-H-I-O..........Go Bucks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ed, they did okay tonight. Well, it's a night folks. Thanks Jackie for the cool place to hang out on Friday night and will see all of you fine folks on Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi everyone. =)

I did not forget but I was grocery shopping since I can not get PeaPod to deliver to me for some reason. I mean it is only a 4500 mile round trip for them, c'mon. =)

I was home in time to watch TAR but it was just starting so missed you all.

    Thanks Jackie

    Everyone have a great weekend.
