The Amazing Race 30: January 17 Episode Blog Party

I'm ready for tonight's show! How about you? I'll be live blogging the major happenings the best I can as they air here on the East Coast. But the real party is in the comments area -- come join in on the fun!

The Left Coast Lovely SqueeGee SueGee has updated the blog pool! I'm still in it to win it!

#TeamBigBrother (Cody & Jessica)    DeLee, ChicMc, Megan H
#TeamChomp (Joey & Tim)    David, Chrob61, tbc
#TeamExtreme (Kristi & Jen)    Janice from GA/FL, Kristen From Ohio
#TeamFirefighters (Eric & Daniel)    Judi Sweeney, Indiana Jane
#TeamIndyCar (Alex & Conor)    SueGee, Brian, Brenda
#TeamOceanRescue (Lucas & Brittany)    Donna in FL, Glenn Allen
#TeamSlamDunk (Cedric & Shawn)    Nickelpeed, Willie in NC
#TeamWellStrung (Trevor & Chris)    Fred aka TwoBlackAces, Petals
#TeamYale (Henry & Evan)    Jackie, Ed in Ohio

Philiminated
#TeamRingGirls (Dessie & Kayla)
#TeamGoatYoga (April & Sarah)    Sharon N, Merrilee

Are we ready? Yep! Let's get this show ON!

Ohh ... teams are going to Tangier, Morocco. The have to find a clue in the "Sea of Chaos" -- a rather crowded and unorganized seaport. Then they have to meticulously stack fish in a crate thingee. Both Cody and Evan speak some Arabic, a rarity in cast members these days!

The fish smell is really affecting NBA, as well as the others. More the NBA guys, though. Heehee, Jess is being distracted by the stray cats hanging out at the fish stacking! Unfortunately, the TeamExtreme gals are totally lost. I think they might be the only team not yet making it there.

Jess and Cody make it out of the fish first. Other teams finishing up. The Ski Gals finally arrive at the fish. Teams will head out and pick up the TAR traditional Roaming Gnome. Whoa! The gals beat out Alex and Conor, now they're in last.

Roadblock -- Who's ready to rock the Casbah? -- The Roaming Gnome will get to ride a zipline! Once the gnome does the zipline then the chosen team member must go find it. Interesting and different. They don't just have to do it one time -- once they find the gnome, they have to go to a second zipline. The leading teams are working together. They did well the first time. Not so good the second time. Jess and one of the Indy Car drivers seem to be getting very frustrated. The local cats still like Jess.

CEDRIC of the NBA is in the lead! How cool is that? He loses that, though. Sigh.

Now the Yalies are in the lead, Detour. Pick up foodstuffs and deliver them. Or belly-dancing. Oh my.

Oh-uh. Brittany forgot her gnome at the Roadblock. Jess knows that she's one of the last two teams and just can't call her back to retrieve it without putting her own race in peril. I don't really blame her.

Yay! My blog pool Yalies are now in the lead, first out of the belly-dancing! No, they didn't have to really belly-dance so much themselves. It was more like dancing around reading clues. Conor and Alex are on their tails.

Pit Stop:
1. Evan and Henry! Won a trip to Switzerland.
2. Alex and Conor
3. Kristi and Jen
4. Trevor and Chris
5. Cody and Jessica

Joey Chestnut is totally screwing up finding the clues at belly-dancing.

6. Joey and Tim
7. Eric and Daniel
8. Lucas and Brittany
9. Cedric and Shawn ... and it's a non-Philimination leg! YAY!

Next week is a two-hour episode and another head-to-head challenge.

Hope you are warm and relatively pain-free tonight, Jackie.

I brought a big box of Taco Bell tacos, LOL. I had a coupon...

    Hey Penny

  4. Is anyone (beside me) watching Victor & Natalie on The Challenge: Vendettas? They both won their challenges yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I wouldn't care if an all girl team won. Still rooting for my pool pick, Team NBA. And, of course I'm hoping Jody do well.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hi all!!

Pinot at the bar! Right next to the artichoke/spinach dip and chips.

    Enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hello everyone. I finally managed to make it in time for the pool party. Jackie, hope you're feeling better today.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm so glad that everyone can now see how cool Jess/Cody are/were. BB must've edited them badly; they are really normal, sweet kids.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hi Petals!!! What channel is The Challenge on?

    ReplyDelete
  10. MONTY!!!! Hi!!!

I just joined the TAR party (for Jody!)

How about that National Championship game?

    ReplyDelete

  12. All of these teams are likable people. I'm a bit dismayed at Joey Chestnut's abilities although not really surprised. He's one of the few I kind of know. I think the NBA players age and size might put them at a bit of a disadvantage. I really like the Yale kids even though they did so poorly in the head-to-head. But they hung in there!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hi Jackie, Joe, Petals and Penny, Suegee. My computer keeps freezing up!

    ReplyDelete
  14. All these exotic places and they don't get to enjoy them!

    ReplyDelete
  15. on MTV, Tuesdays at 9 EST/8 CST. It is a lot of young kids from MTV shows, but the show itself is like a blend of Survivor & Big Brother: these kids are all in a remote, exotic locale, living in the same house AND competing in mental & physical challenges, campaigning & eliminating each other.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I have a roast chicken coming out of the oven, so I will be baaaacccckkk

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm impressed with the teams who can speak any bit of Arabic!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. All I can think about is Paul et al calling Cody a liar.

    ReplyDelete
  19. GO CODY, speaking Arabic?? ♥♥♥♥

    ReplyDelete
  20. I agree, Jackie, I kind of like all of these teams.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Jody, right Joe? Yeah, I know!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi Glenn! HEY SQUUEEEEEGGGG

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Everybody!

Hey Homie missed you last week!

Tangier Morocco looks like an interesting place to viist

    ReplyDelete
  24. Look at the confetti-colored kitten!! OMG!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Petals, you know I can't stand Alabama... but that was one hell of a game. They deserved it that night. :))) xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hi Everybody!

Hey Homie missed you last week!

Tangier Morocco looks like an interesting place

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi TBC! I feel sorry for the Womens team that couldn't communicate with the driver. I was surprised that Cody and the Yale girl knew some Arabic!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I know some curse words in Arabic and a few greetings. Back when I was in college, I had a boyfriend originally from Syria. He taught me them. I also recall his terror tales about growing up there.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Penny. I think we're finally going to get a break in the weather here in Ohio. Whewwwww

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lots of cats in the streets of Tangiers...

    ReplyDelete
  31. How the hell did they pass a team on that challenge?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jackie, is Vincent envious of the fish market kitties? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh, they missed it...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi Petals! Yep Tide rolled............AGAIN!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yes, Monty. I've been freezing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. This would be hard to follow all of those rooftops

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi Penny! Still cold here in NE OHIO. Single digits this AM, currently 14

    ReplyDelete
  38. this challenge, the view of that city, makes me queasy. To think of being there, living there? Will keep me up at night. My idea of a nightmare.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Penny, my car hasn't made it off this hill since last Friday. TG we also have a 4WD or I'd still be a shut in, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ed, it's still about 11 degrees here, but we'll get a break in a couple of days. I'm so tired of cold.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Its hard for them to find the Gnome1 The NBA guys having a hard time!.We are under a winter weather advisory!

    ReplyDelete
  42. We're at a balmy 19° in KCMO, but that's a heat wave compared to the -10° we had earlier in the week. LOL
Will be in mid-50s this wknd, so "welcome to Missouri"

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah, Monty, my husbands been using the "good" car. He hasn't started the HHR since last week. He has to use it Friday. I've been telling him days to start it to be sure. As of tonight he hadn't started it, so I went out. LOL. TG it started.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Monty - have you much snow? Or ice?

We have ZERO snow, just cold.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yeah, thank goodness for living in the southern part of the state. It's supposed to be 46* here tomorrow and Friday in the 50's. Can't wait :))))

    ReplyDelete
  46. At my original home, in the Adirondacks in UpState NY, has been have horrible ice flows. Just down the road where I spent most of my life is blocked. People can't get out of the back woods to get to town. They've been having to go around a really long way. Feel sorry for them.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The other day we had rain, then sleet, followed by ice..... then hit with snow on top of it

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't like them all bunched up like this. A few of them, yes. All of them, not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Petals, I've been snowed in since Friday night. We got the driveway shoveled and salted and could get the Tahoe down and back up, but we got hammered on Sunday night through yesterday. Went slip sliding down the hill even in 4Lo this morning just to get to work. ugh

    ReplyDelete
  50. Come on NBA!!! You've got to find this!! They are in first place??? How? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  51. I just love these narrow stairways. It's the same in Amsterdam. Very narrow. Same for the streets. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  52. I would FAIL so terribly at TAR. I can't even do a Scavenger Hunt at our office without huffing & puffing!

    ReplyDelete
  53. where is Jess? I've lost her...?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Agree, Petals. I'd never make it on the Race. I've been pleasantly surprised by Jess and Cody so far on the race. Definitely different outside of the insane asylum known as the BB house.

    ReplyDelete
  55. LOL hidden words on the belly dancers

    ReplyDelete
  56. Speaking of belly dancing. When we were stationed in Florida, I hired a belly dancer to go to my husband's work and belly dance for his 25th birthday. LOL. Had to get permission from his boss, since he was military. LOL. The other guys loved it, too. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yeeps. Moral conundrum.

    ReplyDelete
  58. My team left their gnome at the phone!

    ReplyDelete
  59. WOW, Penny!!! You should have done it yourself, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  60. They are so clueless, aren't they?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I thought Jessica left it at the phone booth?

    ReplyDelete
  62. She shouldn't be expected to carry the gnome for an opposing team, right? Do teams do that on this show? I really dont know

    ReplyDelete
  63. Heck no, Petals. I was very thing back then, but only my husband would see me dance, not a bunch of flightline guys. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  64. It wouldn't matter if Jessica had told her or not, she still would have had to gone back. For a million dollars, I'd have to think whether or not I'd bring it to them, especially if I'm almost the last one.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The city here kept me awake all Monday night using heavy equipment to bash up ice on my street where it flowed down during rain then froze. Some of the chunks were a good six inches thick! And I don't live in a river!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Speaking of BB...Julie/CBS released pics of the remodeled BB house for the Celebrity edition. No "celebs" have been confirmed, but I've heard many leaks about Brandi Glanville, Spencer Pratt and the last winner of Celeb BB UK (don't know who that is).
If that these rumors are real, then calling this a "celebrity" edition is a ssstttreeetch.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jackie are we going to do a pool for celeb. Big Brother?

    ReplyDelete
  68. oh man, Jackie! Glad there were no water main breaks.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ed, just saw your 8:31 comment. That was us on Friday. Rain turned to ice, turned to snow and it's been downhill since then, lol. Too much snow Monday through yesterday to keep up with so my car doesn't move, LOL. I thought I was being so smart trading the FWD in on a new car with AWD in May, but it really doesn't work on this hill on top of a hill, LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Petals -- If she were a lead team, I think Jess would have gone after Brittany about the gnome. But when you're near last place, it's not a good idea. Jess would risk her own game.

    ReplyDelete
  71. They appear to be trying to make Jessica into a villian.

I wonder if there's going to be some obscure rule invoked by Phil to give Jody a penalty.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I wouldn't have been able to do this when I was healthy. Wow talk about exhausting. Hope the NBA guys can catch up again.

    ReplyDelete
  73. That Spanish speaking chick quickly caught up!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I agree, Jackie. Too risky. It could make them last. Is it a non-elimination leg?

    ReplyDelete
  75. I am not a Jessica fan, but she did what was right for her team. You can't risk it when you are in the back.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The Drop it off challenge looks hard!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hi MaryBeth! I'm new to TAR, glad that JODY didn't risk their race place.

    ReplyDelete
  78. This belly dancing is hilarious. I would fail so big time.

    ReplyDelete
  79. This show is nerve-wracking!

    ReplyDelete
  80. No prize for finishing 1st??

    ReplyDelete
  81. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Ah, nice prize. Love Zurich.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Switzerland! Near my Roger??!?!!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Joey chestnut dancing....

    ReplyDelete
  86. I would be huffing and puffing if I were on TAR. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  87. Team Yale did much better this week

    ReplyDelete
  88. Petals, you would LOVE Switzerland. It's a very clean and beautiful country.

    ReplyDelete
  89. They were just right there???!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  90. That is part of the beauty of TAR...Last to first is always possible

    ReplyDelete
  91. Penny, I've loved it from afar for years. The best watches, cheese, chocolate & TENNIS PLAYERS come from there. It's my dream country, but I'll prolly never be lucky enough to call it home.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I'm worried about the NBA team. I hope he's okay.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Monty sounds like you could use a pair of skis or a snowmobile!

    ReplyDelete
  94. The only reason I got to see Europe was because I was stationed in Germany. I traveled all over. Never made it to Africa or the Middle East though. I wanted to go, but just never made it. Switzerland and England were, by far, my favorite places.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Dang it, my team is last.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Doing the deliveries really hurt the last three teams.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Thank God. They're safe for now. Phewwww

    ReplyDelete
  98. That's great. I like them... saved by the non-Philimination

    ReplyDelete
  99. boy, that went quick. Very hectic hour.

    See y'all next week.

    Thanks, Jackie, for hosting.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I wonder if the may be eliminated means a non elimination leg! It was so they have a speedbump next week!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Your team is still in it Penny!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Thanks Jackie!! Have a safe week everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Thank you so much, Jackie. Hope the rest of the week is better for you. Take care of yourself. See everyone next week!!!

    ReplyDelete
  104. LOL, Ed. I agree :)))

Thanks Jackie and the entire gang for a fun hour. See you all next week

    ReplyDelete
  105. Feel better, Ms J!
    Stay warm, everyone. XOXOXOXOX

    ReplyDelete
  106. Switzerland is gorgeous. Loved the day and a half I spent there. LOL. Had a beautiful night boat ride on Lake Lucerne

    ReplyDelete
  107. Be careful out there!! See you next week!

    ReplyDelete
  108. G'nite all!

Thanks Jackie!! Go team Yale........& (Jody too)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Thanks Jackie =)

    Lucky for the NBA guys.

Send some of that snow down here. We have not had one storm yet this winter. No snow.

    Everyone have a great week.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Joe! Take me to Switzerland!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Thank you all for coming by!

    ReplyDelete
  112. My whole family was talking during this episode!! Ugh. So glad it was a non-elimination!

    Thanks, Jackie!!

    See you all next week!

    ReplyDelete
  113. Oh... I like the NBA guys.... glad it’s a non elimination night!
