Survivor 38: Edge of Extinction Ep. 8 Blog Party

I don't know about you, but I'm still a bit confused about how Extinction is going to work from this point forward. Sure, we know Wendy and Keith raised the white flag and are gone from the game. We know Aubry, Reem and Chris are on the jury. BUT … they had to go back to Extinction where Joe joined them. Jeff has said Extinction continues. So … those who don't win the return to the game challenge get another shot? (Maybe not a great shot because they're going up against Joe.) Will people quit or end up staying in just to be on the jury? May I go to be waited on at Ponderosa since they're obviously not using it?

Lifeguard Laurie's blog pool is getting just about as confusing. We've got three people in two places and only two people out of the game going into the eighth episode. Oy! Here we go:

Aurora McCreary - Ed in Ohio, marthalight
Dan DaSilve "Wardog" - Jackie, Nana in the NW
David Wright * - Dr_Celine, PDX Granny, Renee Buck
Eric Hafemann - Bizaro22, Pinky, Shannon
Gavin Whitson - Brenda, KelseyNY
Julia Carter - Donna in FL, Monty924, Jennifer
Julie Rosenberg - Delee, MikesGirl
Kelley Wentworth * - Donna in NY, Jenna G.
Lauren O'Connell - Brian, Krysta Gibson, Sharon N.
Rick Devens - Auntie Leigh, Merrilee
Ron Clark - Cherry Pie, Judi Sweeney, Rochelle
Victoria Baamonde - Indiana Jane, Karen in VS, SueGee

JURY & Extinction
Reem Daly - David, Terry is a Texan, Sharon C
Chris Underwood - Glenn Allen, Laurie
Aubry Bracco * - Cheryl in NC, Margo, Petals

EXTINCTION only
Joe Anglim * - Carol C, Kismet

Bye-bye
Keith Sowell
Wendy Diaz

Let's see how this is going to play out …

Ron is working on David and Rick. Joe is looking miserable over in Extinction. And, we're into a Reward Challenge. Race through obstacles, retrieve puzzle pieces, solve plank puzzle,  random draw for teams of six. Blue and yellow.

Victoria, Wardog, Julia, Gavin, Aurora and Rick (?) win Reward … Chinese dinner!

Over with the others, Kelley tries to bury the hatchet with David and gather some numbers. David likes what she's selling because they think the old Kama tribe is still the power led by Ron and Eric. Wardog is trying to get Rick to work with him. Now, Rick doesn't like being barked at by a Wardog. He doesn't trust Lesu. He's thinking it would be better to work with Kama. Uh-oh. Rick isn't going along with David. He even mentions that David should give him the half of the idol back. Yipes.

Aubry got the clue first on Extinction. Joe is confused and they're all looking for whatever the advantage might be. Step back … Aubry finds a key and a clue. She has an extra vote for someone in the game plus a practice.

Immunity Challenge time. No Extinction showing up this time. Balance on toes with a block wedged between head and frame. Block falls and eliminated.

Wardog out first. Eric out. Gavin out. Kelley out. Rick out. Julia out. Ron out. Julie out. After nearly a half-hour, Lauren said she's getting a bit dizzy. David out.

WHOA! Lauren passed out! Aurora is trying to convince Victoria that she needs the win because she was the only one left out of the vote. Meanwhile, Dr. Joe is tending to Lauren who's now conscious.

Victoria drops not due to Aurora's pleading.

AURORA wins Immunity!

Not only did she win Immunity, she got the extra vote from Aubry!

Kama is talking about the "loved ones" visit. (My least favorite episode.) They're talking about getting either Kelley or Lauren out. Gavin thinks they should go after Lesu and, in particular, Kelley. Kelley and David think they're fighting a losing battle. Kelley knows that she and Lauren are targets, but she also knows they each have an idol.

Wardog tries to recruit soldiers. He thinks Kama is trying to get David or Rick vote is smart. So, now the buzz is about taking David out. Eric thinks David will be loyal. Ohh … now talk is on about getting out Ron or Eric. I guess we'll have another Tribal in which it's not sure who's going.

Tribal Council time -- jury brought in and Joe IS on it. Hmm.

Time for Jeff's Probsting questions. He starts off with Kama power questions. Kama 7 talk and Rick claims he was betrayed by Lesu and wants in on the Kama train. David claims he's just a passenger. Dang, Eric once again makes a goal of seeing loved ones. David doesn't like that goal and says everyone should be thinking of Day 39. Talks about making a move. Still no real clue and it's time to vote.

Eric votes Kelley.

The tally:
No idols played.

Kelley, Lauren, Lauren, Kelley, Eric, Eric, Eric, Eric, Eric, Eric …

Bye-bye, Eric! Ron looks miserable. Heh.

Eric makes the choice to go to Extinction. No surprise there!

  11. Hi Glenn. Petals, sorry you're not feeling well. Hope you feel better soon.

  12. Joe looked so vulnerable, but on another note, challenge looks fin!

  14. Hi folks,

Finally made it after 2 weeks of conflicts

    ReplyDelete
  15. someone posed this question on Twitter, I wonder how you guys feel:

"Would you still watch Survivor if Jeff Probst left the show?"

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, just like if Julie left BB. Those would be HUGE shoes to fill....

      Delete
  16. I have a bottle (or two) of white!

    ReplyDelete
  17. JOE!!!!! Hi honey. I was about to bug you. lol

    ReplyDelete
  18. Ohhh, Petals. That's a good question, I don't think it would be as good.

    ReplyDelete
  19. here I am, Petals. Bug away.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yay, my girl gets reward!! Chinese take out sounds pretty good.

    Hey Homie!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I agree Monty. I think Jeff is essential to the show. He is part of the experience, for me anyway.
Like Celebrity Apprentice sucked without Donald Trump. And BB wouldn't be the same without Julie Chen (Moonves)!

    I think I wouldn't watch without Probst.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hi folks

It would be different without Probst, but the secret to the show is the edit. They take all that raw footage and turn it in to a watchable drama.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Survivor would definitely not be the same without Probst. He has the best job on tv.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi Monty, Ed, tbc, and Joe.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Not sure if I would keep watching without Jeff, but there might be some good candidates out there to replace him..

    ReplyDelete
  26. Petals, I'd be OK with no Probst but it would depend a lot on who is replacement was.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Of course, the same could be said about our Jackie. Would I/you watch without the blog? It has been part of our experience for so many years...would it be the same without Jackie & the party?
    I think NO!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Agree with all the above, Petals! Some shows just couldn't and have not survived a new host.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi TBC and Joe. I am glad you were able to join us again.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks everyone! ❤️

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey Homie! Our March Madness picks last week took hit! I have only Virginia left.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I wonder how much intestinal havoc the Chinese food will wreak on them?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh, Ed. I know!!! I hate to have to root for Sparty, but I'm left with that. :((

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dave and crew need to blindside.

    ReplyDelete
  35. GO NEWSCASTER GUY!!! tell em!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Is Auburn still in it?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Love RICK... not putting up with Wardog's bull

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wardog looks shocked!! People just don’t say to someone, “ why would I want to work with you” LMAO!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Exactly, Jennifer! LOL!!!

Wardog? Who names themselves that? Nicknaming oneself never works. You have to EARN it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jackie - would you watch without Probst?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hi Jackie and everyone. I made it! Just turned it on so I have to catch up.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Auburn is in the final four, Petals.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Survivor, BB & TAR would not be the same without Jackies' blog & all you fine folks! It's like peanut butter & jelly... they're both good but better together!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I know this is anathema, but I don't think I'd miss Julie at all on BB. She's not nearly as much a part of things as Probst is.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I do not blame Rick, but he'll still be on the outs with the other group. They are just as bad as WarDog, whom I really do not like.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Agree 100% with you, Ed!! None of these shows would be as great if we didn't all hang out here. :)))

    ReplyDelete
  47. ^5 Ed

    Auburn, really? Wow, SEC representing!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Petals - I doubt he'll leave.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hey Jenna - how are you feeling?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You know the brain wants to get on with it but your body is like hell no! Did a bit to much yesterday and paid for it all night. Rested well today.
Bb without Julie I think would be ok, but Survivor without Pobst, I think I'd give it a chance then make my decision. The blog without Jackie or any of you...NO WAY!

      Delete
  50. Omgosh, I’m terrible at riddles and math too

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm with you on Julie Ed... My guess is that CBS really wants her gone too. I sure miss TAR and Phil, but it must be hard to find places to race in this crazy world right now.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Just an advantage?

    Come on Joe or Aubry!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. My girl finds an clue!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yes, glad at least Aubry got it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. But nothing would be the same without this chat!! Nice place to land when AOL shut down their chats and boards :o(

    ReplyDelete
  56. Now she has to decide who to give it to.

    ReplyDelete
  57. How is she going to hold hide all these papers?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yes, if Jackie did not have a place for us to talk, it wouldn't be the same.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi Jenna G. I agree about nicknames Petals. I had a couple nicknames given to me .

    ReplyDelete
  60. I said the same thing Jennifer. She barely has a chest, so she has to hope nothing falls out!

    ReplyDelete
  61. This challenge looks short and terrible

    ReplyDelete
  62. Those boxer briefs need to go.,,,

    ReplyDelete
  63. Agree. Without Jackie, it's just a TV program.
With Jackie, it's an experience. And we're a family.

    *sigh*

Pass the crackers, I am 🧀

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm not sure who to root for now.

Man, that would kill my toes.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ron kills me. He acts as if he's mad. He knows he has nothing to worry about.

    ReplyDelete
  66. The women are doing great!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks to Jackie I got caught up fast. This challenge is hard!

    ReplyDelete
  68. They need to close their eyes and meditate.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You guys obviously haven't seen the commercial teasing someone gets hurt in the challenge

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't like the redhead.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I don't know how Lauren is doing this without eating

    ReplyDelete
  72. she sure fell elegantly

    ReplyDelete
  73. Aurora doing some BB bargaining

    ReplyDelete
  74. Aurora grabbed the pole! Isn't that against the rules.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Crap. I was really hoping Lauren would do well. But she's had problems before.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Did she grab the pole? I have to go back and look.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Aurora cheated. I can't rewind, but if you can, look. Her R hand grabbed the pole.

    ReplyDelete
  78. during the hubbub. I'm sure I saw it. When she first began negotiating with red head chick

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm hoping she plays her idol. I think they might try to vote her out.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Me too, I think if she could find her footing with her body failing her she'd actually be a pretty good contender.

      Delete
  80. I did Petals... she didn't grab the side/pole. She stuck her hand/arm out making a point when she was negotiation with Victoria and the camera angle made it look like her arm was touching it. I talk with my hands too, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  81. I rewound it to the point Lauren fainted, and Aurora held her hands out while tring to make a deal, but I didn't see her grab the pole until after Victoria dropped unless I didn't rewind it far enough.

    ReplyDelete
  82. me too, M! I am like Trump or Nick Saban - I gesticulate!🖐️🤛👈👏

    ReplyDelete
  83. Play the idols, women. Blindside!!!

War Dog kills me. He doesn't realize the two he's talking to are very loyal.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'd like to see the look on ALL of their smug faces when they both pull out idols!!

    ReplyDelete
  85. This looks like it could be a really good Tribal

    ReplyDelete
  86. I just don't like him :)))

    ReplyDelete
  87. This season has been... wait, I hate these commercials. SO sad.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Who's Gavin? Where did he come from? I'd like to see them pull off a blind side. Let's spice some stuff up!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Gavin is our sweet castaway for Eastern Tennessee :))

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I like him, but he's been quite so far this season. I like seeing him step up.

      Delete
  90. This season, there haven't been all those Tribal whispering like from the past few seasons.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That made the tribals really exciting to watch. Maybe it will happen tonight.

      Delete
  91. If memory serves, there was one extremely whispering Tribal. Maybe that was a week you missed.

    ReplyDelete
  92. I agree about this site being important to us to hang out with. Please pray for my Step mom. She was born with just 1 Kidney and its in stage 5 failure. Dr told her not sure what to do for her.

    ReplyDelete
  93. They aren't allowed to talk going to or coming back from tribal (cameras need to see everything) so sometimes that is why the talk gets animated at the actual tribal

    ReplyDelete
  94. A couple of seasons ago, tribal council was always full of side chatter/whispering

    ReplyDelete
  95. Will do Glenn. They can't do a transplant?

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yeah, I may have missed that ep.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  100. Oh Glenn, so sorry to hear that. Will be sending prayers to heaven!

    ReplyDelete
  101. NICE! Loved the look on the newsguy's face. He's a moron. Why does he want to be #8 in that other group so badly?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Jackie, thank you so much for hosting us. It's greatly appreciated. I won't be here next week, unfortunately. Have a great weekend and week.
