Survivor 40: Winners at War - Season Finale Blog Party

Well, well, well ... here it is, season finale time already! From what I've read, most of tonight's three-hour broadcast will be show, not the reunion. What reunion there will be will be video conferencing type. I know that many will squawk if Natalie wins her way back into the game and then wins the two million. While I personally wouldn't think it right that the first person voted out stands a chance to come back and win it all, she has amazed me with her determination and physical skills. I don't know. I'd prefer she not win, but still thinks she deserves some kudos!

I will be updating this entry with the major events as the show airs here on the East Coast -- refresh this page to get the latest news! As always, the real party is in the comments area. Please feel free to join in on the fun!

Before she blows the final out of the pool whistle of the season, Lifeguard Laurie has updated the blog pool. Here's where we stand going into the finale --

Ben Driebergen - Rbennie, Shannon
Denise Stapley - Becky, Jennifer
Michele Fitzgerald -Terry is a Texan
Sarah Lacina - SueGee, Cheryl in NC
Tony Vlachos - Karen in CA, Donna in Alabama

Extinction Island
Adam Klein - Lifeguard Laurie, Petals
Amber Mariano - Delee, Glenn Allen
Danni Boatwright - Jennasmom
Ethan Zohn - Rochelle, Jackie
Jeremy Collins - Sharon N
Kim Spradlin-Wolfe - Dr_Celine
Natalie Anderson - Nana in the NW
Nick Wilson - Barbara BW, Judi Sweeney
Parvati Shallow - Donna in FL
Rob Mariano - Auntie Leigh
Sophie Clarke - ChicMc
Tyson Apostol -Janice
Wendell Holland - Nickelpeed, PDX Granny
Yul Kwon - Ed in Ohio

Survivor fans ready?

Jeff is in his garage with a big set-up to present the live portions of the broadcast. He thinks this has been the greatest season of all times.  All of the castaways are on a Zoom internet kind of screen. He claims so much is going on with the show itself that there wouldn't be time for a reunion show anyway. Hmm.

Final five get to watch the Extinction players compete. Attached to rope, race through obstacles, dig up rope, make rope bridge, untie knots, table maze. Several have bought advantages with their tokens. Natalie bought the most and gets stuck. After doing so well, she's not rocking this challenge! Wendell has maintained the lead for a while. Natalie has caught up and she, Wendell and Tyson are vying for the win. Whoops for Wendell. NATALIE WINS HER WAY BACK INTO THE GAME!

Now we're getting the Survivor stories from those who didn't win their way back in. Well, Tyson did but got voted out again.

Natalie is touring the camp. She knows that she will be the biggest target. She sees everyone is on the "Tony bandwagon." Tony doesn't trust her and is sure that she will be telling lies. Yes, she plans on telling lots of lies! She has already started telling people that the jury has all been talking about voting for Tony.

Immunity challenge -- race through obstacles, grab bag, up stairs, down waterslide times 3, puzzle. MICHELE WINS despite being way behind until she started her puzzle.

Tony thinks they should split the vote between Denise and Natalie. Meanwhile, Natalie wants to work with Michele. Ben wants to be human and not vote out his friend Denise. Natalie has an idol (one that Tony thinks she might have). Tony thinks he might have to play his idol. Ben has one, as well. Tony thinks they should vote Denise because he thinks Natalie has an idol. Sarah doesn't think she does have one because "she would have told me." @@

Tribal Council time. Jeff starts out asking about Natalie's return. Natalie goes ahead and says Tony is running the show. Now it seems to be female solidarity is afoot. Natalie is really pushing her oust Tony agenda.

The tally -- Natalie plays her idol. Tony plays his idol. Ben plays his idol.

Natalie, Natalie, Natalie, Natalie, Ben, Ben ... must revote. They can only vote for Denise or Sarah. Denise and Sarah don't count. Nobody draws rocks. settle with making fire if it is a tie.

The re-tally -- Denise, Denise, Denise ... bye, Denise.

Tony is a bit upset that he and Ben "wasted" their idols. Tony knows at least one idol is now hidden and he wastes no time going in search of it. NATALIE finds one instead.

Immunity Challenge time -- through obstacles, water, key, two sandbags land them on target.  TONY WINS IMMUNITY, a guaranteed spot in the final four.

Natalie is pushing to break up the Tony/Ben/Sarah trio. Tony goes to his spy nest thinking he wants to eavesdrop on the girls. Natalie tells Sarah that she doesn't want to go against Ben in fire. Natalie tells and shows Sarah that she has an idol. Tony wants Natalie to think they're voting for her but put the votes on Michele. Michele knows that she's the target. Would Natalie use her idol to save Michele? Hmm. Ben tells Sarah he's okay with her writing his name down.  He thinks she should go to the end and not be told she was just brought along there.

Tribal Council ... it's getting all sentimental and personal growth feelings stuff.

The tally -- Natalie plays her idol.

Ben, Michele, Ben, Michele, Ben.

Tony is surprised. His bud Ben is out!

Final Immunity Challenge -- One hand tied behind back, ball down a chute, catch it, more balls added as time goes on. Tony out! Sarah out!

NATALIE WINS THE FINAL IMMUNITY!

She will pick one person to save and the other two must do a fire challenge for the third spot in the final three.

Tony is pretty sure that he and Sarah will face the fire challenge. I think he's probably right. Natalie wants to put the strongest fire maker against him. Will she choose Michele to go up against Tony?

It's to Tribal ... Natalie saves Michele, leaving Tony and Sarah to do the firemaking battle.

TONY WINS! He's in the final three! Woot! Woot! Both Tony and Sarah are in tears.

They get their big breakfast feast.

Time for the jury Tribal Council --
Outwit
Yul offers them kudos, says they need to fill in the missing blanks about how they outwitted them. Natalie says she misstepped on day one not reaching out. Michele got into alliances, always felt like she was on the bottom.  Tony said he tried to be more open and vulnerable this time. Nick challenges him, as does Jeremy. Tony said he was with them until they went against him. Ben speaks up for Tony's loyalty. Natalie talks about targeting Tony upon returning to the game. Rob points out that she shunned the old school players on Extinction. Tony gets asked how he blindsided people. He tells of his spy nest. Wendell points out that Tony never had votes against him. Michele says she moved through cracks and had to work alone being on the bottom.

Outplay --
Wendell wants Natalie to share everything she found in the game. Talk of winning challenges. Extinction an advantage for Michele, disadvantage for Tony.

Outlast --
Natalie wanted to take out the strongest alliance and did it. Michele wonders if she deserved her first win and worked hard this season. Tony came in as himself and played hard, even looking for idols at night, no one ever put his name down in the game.

They show Rob voting for Tony. Natale got a vote. Michele may have gotten one. They only showed a few.

The final tally for the win ...

To Jeff's garage with the final three on little screens.

Tony, Natalie, Natalie, Tony, Natalie, Tony, Natalie, Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony, Tony!

TONY WINS! WELL-DESERVED!

I really wanted Ethan to do well, but he won't do that well. Sad.

  20. Hey Squee, Teeb, Penny, Jenn & Ed!

    ReplyDelete
  21. She wouldn't get my vote, she's been out of the actual game for nearly it's entirety. Kudos to her for 'surviving the island, but she played very little of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's the one reason why I like Natalie. She is tenacious. She never gives up. She really is a great competitor.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hey Petals and Monty!

I would expect Natalie will have to win all the challenges or she is right back out

  27. In this moment of sentimentality, I want to tell ALL of you that I will miss you this summer. No Big Brother?
    I love you all!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I disagree, Ed. She worked very hard to stay ready. They starved just like the others. They competed against each other. They knew they could get back in. They had to stay alert. It doesn't matter that she wasn't in with the 5. There were mind games. That is why they're all in the jury. They stayed in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Those are great Stories being told at the edge of extinction challenge aftermath.

And Jackie - I can't thank you enough for our pool home. You've created a family & real friendships exist because of you! You'll get a much-deserved break this summer, but I'll sure miss your witticisms & BB commentary.

  36. Speaking of BB, I'm drinking tonight out of my personalized stemless Big Brother wine glass!! Pretty cool...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Petals I saw a article that Big Brother is still taking applications for BB 22. Tyler and Angela the other night on Kats podcast gave tips for players trying out for BB 22.

  40. Hi folks

I'm kind of surprised they didn't just test and quarantine and run BB. Unless it's more a crew issue.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah, Glenn, a lot of great stories. I believe Ethan is such an inspiration. He fought cancer twice; and comes back to play the game. It's great.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Pretty smart by Natalie. Immediately create a bigger target

    ReplyDelete
  43. BB would be doable if they put everyone in quarantine first. Then there would be crew issues for sure but they could be remote cameras...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Helllooo Jackie!!!! I’d figure I’d pop in and check on you all I’ve been meaning to since beginning of season. Hello everyone!!! Mmmmmoooonntttyyyy lol I hope all of you have been safe and doing the best with things.

    ReplyDelete
  45. PS -

    Joe and I are engaged!

    ReplyDelete
  46. It's also in California and there are issues with the opening and BB would have had to be started so to speak by now to just get the house done, the cast picked and sequestered, etc. Too many kinks to work through I would imagine.

    ReplyDelete
  52. SueGee. Could they build some housing for the Crews to live in if they were quarantined first like the cast members? Then maybe have houseguests after being voted out have something like camp comeback place to stay .

    ReplyDelete
  53. Jackie - CBS main page says next Wed 5/20 at 8pm We have a week to get the pool set up

    ReplyDelete
  54. I’m still holding out and crossing fingers that they can pull a rabbit out and we will get our weekly dose of “but first” lol

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sue -I was OUT when Adam didn't win Extinction. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  62. And Glenn, if CBS wants to do Survivor - they should be able to figure it out.

    ReplyDelete
  63. wow - Michele with the come back!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I love it! Wow! Slow and steady wins the race.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Gotta love Michelle for that!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Michelle repeats her win from her season challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  68. She has stepped up her game back to back

    ReplyDelete
  69. I want in to the TAR pool!

    ReplyDelete
  70. 2 in a row just like her last season!

    ReplyDelete
  71. oh no...

    I like Tony this season.

    ReplyDelete
  72. UGH, she stabbed Nat in the back.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Lol every body play the idol game at tribal free for all

    ReplyDelete
  74. I've never been a fan of Tony. He's too paranoid. He'd drive me nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Wonder how many whispers are going to be had at tribal tonight??

    ReplyDelete
  76. I wonder if Tony votes Denise anyway. I will get in the TAR pool as well.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I like Tony this season, too

    ReplyDelete
  78. They got all cleaned up!!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm Team Anybody BUT Tony!!

    ReplyDelete
  80. These tribals have been epic on so many levels this year

    ReplyDelete
  81. She's right about men vs women.

    ReplyDelete
  82. oh geeez...I hate feminazism.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Jury got their luggage, hot showers and lots of food I bet

    ReplyDelete
  84. It will be crazy if Sarah gets voted out if Natalie plays her Idol.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I shoulda been born more than 50 yrs ago.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I don't want Tony nor Ben.

    ReplyDelete
  87. They are dragging this first eviction way too long

    ReplyDelete
  88. Tribal the Oprah edition everybody play an idol lol

    ReplyDelete
  89. I disagree with him. How does he know they tell everyone on EoE who has idols. Most of the time, they did not know.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I love that Tony waas RiGHT about Nats idol

    ReplyDelete
  91. They're flushing them out. LOL

    Denise gets voted off.

    ReplyDelete
  92. revote? and it'll be denise?

    ReplyDelete
  93. Why is there nobody to draw rocks?

    ReplyDelete
  94. I’d split it let’s build a fire

    ReplyDelete
  95. VOTE OUT SARAHHEARMEROAR

    ReplyDelete
  96. @nickel, doesn't matter whether they tell each other stuff on Extinction or not. Tony wants them to realize that Nat is a bigger threat than he

    ReplyDelete
  97. What is wrong with these people. Their need to keep strong players in the game is mind-boggling

    ReplyDelete
  98. Joe, no rocks because the others have immunity

    ReplyDelete
  99. I know that, Joe, I just like to complain. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  100. But I thought the rocks trumped immunity. Didn't that old guy go home years ago because of that, or am I remembering it wrong? Paolo or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Joe reason their was no one else to draw rocks was that everyone else had immunity. I hope Sarah realizes maybe Tony can be right sometimes on information< Tony Told Sarah and Ben that Idols would be flushed. Will any idols be hidden again?

    ReplyDelete
  102. yes let’s play the told you so game lol

    ReplyDelete
  103. You know, I've always wondered what would happen if all of them had an idol and played it. What do they do then?

    ReplyDelete
  104. How the hell could you find an idle in the dark? Unless there is full moon, there is nothing darker than being off in the woods away from city lights.

Of course, he could run right into the guy trying to plant it...

    ReplyDelete
  105. There goes Tony. Of course he'll find the idol.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Natalie finds an Idol. Will their be more since 3 were played?

    ReplyDelete
  107. Oh man, why did she tell Michelle. She's going to go back and tell Tony and crew.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I don't know, Glenn. They could plant them all because the next TC is the last time you can use it.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Looks like this is Natalie's to lose. She can do no wrong

    ReplyDelete
  110. Joe - I think he only had no votes in the original vote and was nobody's target at all.

    ReplyDelete
  111. where do the fire tokens come in to play? Did I miss it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Tokens are over they ended with denise buying that bag of rice and Natalie purchacing idols for her and Tyson!

      Delete
  112. I wish they'd go back to a final 2

    ReplyDelete
  113. dang, I missed it. Thanks Mole!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Why don't they start running toward the post before the bag lands?

    ReplyDelete
  115. Good for you, Tony!!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. Wow! If Natalie plays the idol, Michelle will go home. :'(

Are there other Idols planted on the island? Or is 1 it? Anyone know?

    ReplyDelete
  117. well, we know who Natalie will target.

If Ben, Tony and Sarah want to stay together, they should target Michelle. On the other hand, has it become boys vs. girls? Is Sarah going to try to prove a point?

I hate to say it, because I've never been the biggest fan of Tony, but he really deserves to win. Sara would be my second choice. Ben, not a chance. Michelle, not a chance.

Nat...I just have a problem with a player returning this late in the game. Especially given how long she was out of the game. She managed to avoid a lot of tribal councils. While I'm sure Extinction was no picnic, it's hard to see her imprint on the game.

    ReplyDelete
  118. She would be foolish not playing hers and the others can’t split there votes between Nat and Michelle, she will have to try and flip one

    ReplyDelete
  119. Love Tony in the tree lol

    ReplyDelete
  120. I hope she don't fall for it. Tony is good. Dang it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. I laugh every time tony gets in the tree!!

    ReplyDelete
  122. If she flips and gives to Michelle that would be legendary lol

    ReplyDelete
  123. If they ever play this game again, they'd better not ever trust her again.

    Tony is good!

    ReplyDelete
  124. WTF Ben? He's such an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Man he taking a bullet lol

    ReplyDelete
  126. Why would you play this game and now are okay being voted out. Geesh. It's like quiting.

    ReplyDelete
  127. It would be funny if she decides to vote Ben and Nat and Michelle decide to vote Sara.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Those are some blue eyes!!

    ReplyDelete
  129. It's not like taking a bullet, it's giving up.

    ReplyDelete
  130. It's one thing to be a good sport and go home without anger. It's another to make the case that you SHOULD be voted out.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Is tonight the last time they can use idols?

    ReplyDelete
  132. I think Ben knows he won't win in the end...why not go get clean & fed?

    ReplyDelete
  133. I was thinking the same thing Joe

    ReplyDelete
  134. Will Tony pull out another Idol that he found that the producers don't show us to make it look like Ben in trouble?

    ReplyDelete
  135. I think I would like the prize at the end of the game!

    ReplyDelete
  136. That could be a possibility, Glenn

    ReplyDelete
  137. Jennifer, I think it's a ploy

    ReplyDelete
