BB23: Wild Card Comp and Nominations Show Blog Party - Aug. 1

Good evening! Welcome to the blog, welcome to the party! Since this is a show post, please don't post spoilers from the live feeds in the comments area. Unfortunately, I will have to remove such comments as some of the folks following the show posts aren't into the live feeds. Merci!

I will be live-blogging, updating this post as the show airs here on the East Coast. Refresh the page the get the latest happenings! As always, the real party is in the comments section. I hope to see you there!

Let's sit out "previously on" playing pattycake!

We pick up the action after the HOH comp ends. Christian is singing the praises of the Kings. Xavier tells us that last week, besides Brent as a target, Whitney and Hannah were the most mentioned. He would prefer they target Whitney (as Hannah is sort of a member of the Cookout). Britini is thrilled because she's sure she won't be a target this week.

Derek F is fussing to Azah that he hasn't won anything. He's sure the Kings (winning HOH team) will target them. Azah really wanted the win, but is handling it okay.

Christian is worried about the responsibility. Claire is a bit worried that she might go on the block and is determined to win the Wild Card to ensure her safety. Hannah thinks Christian might put her up as a pawn.

Derek F is whining again. He whines because his team are the underdogs but I think a lot of it is because he hasn't won anything.

Christian isn't sure what to do. The Whitney and Hannah scenario comes up. They think Whitney would/should be the target. SarahBeth is more concerned with the fact that Hannah is a stronger player and should go over Whitney. Then Britini's name comes up as a renom. Or should he use Azah as a pawn? Decisions, decisions.

Heh. Derek F comments on Whitney's scanty clothing. I will say I'm so glad my mother didn't dress like that.

This week's social commentary is Derek X feeling alone as a child of immigrants in western culture. Azah was teased because her skin is so dark. Derek X wants to provide a different image of a Chinese/American person.

Wild Card comp time! Claire is the only eligible member of her team, so she will play. Same for Whitney. Azah goes for her team. The comp is a club set-up with a huge martini glass and a "zone" for each of them. They have to make their own drinks. It's a ball (olive) rolling into their drink table maze comp with a power black out possible. The house can watch the comp on the screen in the living room. Claire keeps coming closest to winning.

CLAIRE WINS THE WILD CARD COMP!

The decision she has to make? Safety for her and her team for one week or safety just for herself for jury. She goes for ... her own game and safety! Her teammates are already safe with Christian this week and it's the smart move to make. She and her teammates - Tiffany and Kyland - do the happy win dance in the storage room.

HOH Royal Flush meeting in progress. There are so many of them that it's hard to find nominees. Throw in the Cookout members there and some of the Royal Flush may balk. Alyssa wants Hannah out. Tiffany suggests Britini. SarahBeth pushes the Hannah agenda.

Christian wants to meet up with with Derek F, Azah and Britini. Derek F trash talks Whitney saying that she's been saying that she would go after the Kings. Britini agrees. Christian's co-HOH Alyssa is with him. In talking with their own team it's looking like Hannah would go up with Whitney and Whitney is the target.

Christian talks to Hannah, telling her that he can't put up Derek X as he would go home (larger threat), the target is Whitney ... would she (Hannah) be a pawn? She is reluctant. She tells him that he would be safe if she wins HOH.

Time for the Nominations Ceremony -- Christian puts Whitney, then Hannah. He tells them that he or his team would have been targeted by either of them if they won HOH.

  4. Hi Glenn, I wish we had some rain, it would be nice to hear it!!

  5. Hi Glenn

Jennifer, we had a nice little rain storm without much wind and no lightening earlier. It was nice for a change

  6. With so many alliances, sure does make it hard to pick nominees!

  7. Monty - We've been having the same -- just a steady not torrential rain, no lightning, nor thunder.

It looks like we're going to have a fairly quiet blog party tonight.

  8. For sure, JEnnifer. It will whittle down here after the team twist disappears though. They haven't said it, but I think the team twist will end with the Wildcard ending so hopefully this Thursday.

  9. Wild Card and teams are done with now but they haven't told the hamsters yet.

  10. @Monty, you say that like I'm not usually here.

    ReplyDelete
  11. LOL @ Joe... but not the first one here :)))

  12. I like how the recycle old comps into these new ones

    ReplyDelete
  13. Damn, Claire. Get it together

    ReplyDelete
  14. Take the safety for yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  15. She doesn't know about the cook-out but I'd take it anyway. BB isn't a team game

    ReplyDelete
  16. So I would take Safety until Jury if Claire

    ReplyDelete
  17. I hope sh saves herself!

    ReplyDelete
  18. And, Tiffany and Kyland are in the Royal Flush so they are safe anyway... or should be ;)

  19. She's a smart player. I'm still wondering why they decided she was an alternate and didn't make the show until that one got the boot in sequester due to Covid.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I would take it for my self

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh, Jackie... I couldn't agree more. The two alternates are both doing well. Makes me wonder what they DIDN'T see in them to begin with???

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm liking Christian more. I think he was tainted during the Frenchie/Brent era.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That's very understanding of Tiffany.

    ReplyDelete
  24. At some point, Sarah Beth is going to figure out about the Cookout.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can see Tiffany setting her sights on Sara Beth now

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't know why they think Brittni is a threat.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Not for this week, but in the next week or two

    ReplyDelete
  28. When there is talk of going after little players so quickly in the game, it’s pretty funny when the main players have to start turning on each other…get the popcorn!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree Monty..Sarabeth may find herself on the block sooner rather than later

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sarah Beth is right to want to target Hannah, but she doesn't know how protected Hannah is this week between the Cookout and her relationship with Derek X who is also in the Royal Flush.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Joe - I think they think the revenge factor for putting them on the block. Of course, Christian and Alyssa don't know about the Cookout. The Cookout would want her rather than one of their members.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Putting HER on the block, not THEM

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think that this season has more overall good BB gamers than most.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My Sattelite froze up. I didn't hear what Christian said he wanted to do

    ReplyDelete
  35. Glenn - He hasn't said yet. Commercial.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Agree Jackie! A lot of real gamers in the house this season and less recruits who know very little about the game of BB.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Jackie, except Brittni has not been a physical or social threat. She could want to take them all out, but she is unlikely to be in a position to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. They appear to have the votes to keep Hannah even if she's on the block. They should not fight so hard to keep her off the block.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Monty - And what recruits there are are fitting in better. Derek X comes to mind. He's smart, is picking up the game well and Tiffany (and others) have developed a real liking of him in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Thanks Jackie. Everyone have a safe a good week. See you in the comments!

    ReplyDelete
  41. That's a wrap! Thank you for stopping by!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks as always Jackie.Have a great week everyone.

  43. Thanks again Jackie…. Great as always
