Survivor 41: Season Finale Blog Party

Tonight, tonight ...

Yes, it's finale night for the season. The final five aren't quite the ones I would have predicted from the start, but there they are. Tonight's show will be two hours of actual gameplay and then an hour of well, um, mingling with the jury, I guess. The winner will be announced on site after the votes and the after-show is also set there due to the pandemic. It will be different!

I will be updating this entry with the major events as the show airs here on the East Coast -- refresh the page to get the latest news! As always, the real party is in the comments area. Please feel free to join in on the fun!

But first, Lifeguard Laurie has submitted her last blog pool update of the season. Thank you so much, Laurie! Are you still in the pool?

Deshawn, Heather, Xander, Erika, Ricard

Deshawn Radden - Kelsey NY, PDX Granny, Jlaf

Survivor fans ready?

We start out with Jeff at night on a beach. Two Immunity challenges, two Tribals and a fire challenge. The votes will be read out on voting night.

It's Night 23 as the five head off to a new beach with bare minimum supplies. Deshawn is trying to make amends with Erika, but she's not hearing it. He had tried to turn Heather and Erika against each other to better his own game. She turns to Ricard. Let's see how that goes.

Ricard is thrilled that Deshawn kind of blew his chances to work with anyone while Ricard is still in with them. Meanwhile, Deshawn thinks Ricard needs to go. Of course, anyone with a brain would want Ricard out. If he stays to the end, he will win!

Deshawn and Erika come across a final advantage clue box. There's one for all. They each have to unscramble words, come up with the phrase answer and then have a chance to win the advantage. Xander deciphers it first, something to with the treasure hanging where the trees love to dance. They all eventually decipher it with Erika last ... and she finds it! It will aid her in the Immunity Challenge. She tells Ricard and they let Deshawn (and others) keep on searching.

Immunity Challenge time! Erika speaks up about it. Jeff explains the challenge first. Build a rope ladder, build another one, bring puzzle pieces up, 75-piece puzzle. Steak, veggies, bread and wine reward. Erika's advantage is that she starts with four rungs already up on each ladder. Heather is doing poorly, surprise, surprise.

ERIKA WINS IMMUNITY AND A SPOT IN THE FINAL FOUR!

She can choose one person to go with her for the meal. She chooses Heather.

At their little feast, they both blame Deshawn for their problems. BFFs again. Neither want Deshawn to go to the end although they both know Ricard would beat them in the end. Ricard and Deshawn are voting for each other. Ricard is reading Erika's face and is bothered that she claims to be on the fence. Now Heather is telling him it's complicated. Xander says he will vote with him against Deshawn. But Xander told us Ricard has to go. Now he's conflicted! Xander tells Ricard that he might be able to save him with the idol. Hmm.

First Tribal Council! Jeff asks Deshawn about the emphasis about taking out Ricardo. Oooh ... Ricard goes for the heartstrings and in tears talks about his baby due next week, could even be here already. Oh my. Jeff says he normally feels a blindside coming but doesn't feel that this week -- hinting he thinks Ricard will be voted out.

The tally -- Xander saves himself! Deshawn, Ricard, Ricard, Ricard.

It was the smart choice. Ricard played an amazing game.

Night 24 with the Final Four. The only one I cannot see winning at all would be Heather. There they are in a thunderstorm without a shelter. Xander is the only one not bothered by the weather.

Daytime comes and they are practicing making fire. Erika knows she can because she did it on Exile (or whatever they're calling it this season).

Day 24 and time for the last Immunity Challenge. Navigate a curved walkway while stacking blocks spelling FINAL THREE wins.

XANDER WINS THE FINAL IMMUNITY! It's emotional.

Xander goes to each person feeling them out. Deshawn says he can't make fire. He tells Erika that he's taking her. He tells the other two they will be making fire. So they need to practice. In practice, Heather builds a fire while Deshawn has problems. Oooh, Erika is having problems and Xander notices! He talks to Heather who tells him she could win and he should take her out. Hmm.

Final Tribal Council. Jeff and Xander talk about perceptions. Xander thinks that the jury thinks Heather's the goat -- not the G.O.A.T. goat, mind you. He doesn't think so. Xander sticks with taking Erika even though he knows she cannot make fire. Heather and Deshawn will do the making fire challenge.

Fire Challenge is ON. Heather ALMOST had it, but DESHAWN WINS THE THIRD SPOT IN THE FINAL THREE!

The Final Three gather watching the sunrise. And, then they get their feast. We get to hear each of them telling us about their game and why they should win. They head off to the jury questioning.

Evie - Congrats all. Diversity. However, no questions.

Danny - Pro athlete. Breaking down game plan going in and then adapting. Xander - wanted to do something different, take big risks, team dynamic at the start, then marketing himself, at the end, keep Ricard as shield, had to turn on him. Naseer tells him he's got a kind heart. Deshawn - Social game build relationships at first, then those saved him. Ricard confronts him about Sydney, wrecking Danny's game, throwing others under the bus. Deshawn denies. Erika - Had expectations being sweet, on winning team, Exile, down and out, flipped the game, joined up with others on the bottom. Ricard tells her that it's a shame she didn't make bonds with all like Deshawn did (then betrayed them). She speaks up about using Heather not as just a number but a partner.

Tiffany - Xander, going into the merge. Friends, but had to adapt. Liana asks about his social awareness. He talks about the Tiffany vote and reading the room. Evvie - asked about him holding the idol and not playing it. Ricard - bromance with Xander. Kept the number two threat, Erika. Did we have a real relationship? We did. You would have won against anyone. Heather brings up that she told Xander that the only one who could win against him was Erika.

Shan - Deshawn, emotional breakdowns and tantrums. Win for the Black community. Capitalizing to win on a movement? Out of bounds. He says it was not his intention to sell out his people.

Danny - Erika, did amazing. Allowed people to underestimate you but you're a real competitor.

Liana - Asks Xander if he has an idol. Heehee.

Time for the jury to vote. Jeff says that the last time they read the votes at Tribal was Season One.

Erika, Deshawn, Erika, Erika, Erika, Erika ... all the rest are hers, too.

ERIKA WINS!

Congratulations to blog pool winners Petals, Pam Arceneaux, Margo!

We then get into an after show party with champagne and pizza. Now I might slack a bit on blogging this. But I will be here.

I am indeed here. So far it's just been Jeff asking Probsting questions and the Final Three talking about their games. Going on to talking to Naseer and Liana about the phrase and Knowledge Is Power advantage, respectively.

Survivor 42, same location. Looks like they will be keeping a lot of the happenings and pace from this season. Expect it in the spring.

No Sia award announced but it might be coming. I don't know.

  1. Thank you, Jackie. Appreciate everything you've done this Survivor season!

    Ready, ready, READY!!!

    Hi Joe!

  2. I definitely understand why DeShawn did what he did. But, it's not good for his game now.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Hi Jackie and Joe And Penny and Marlo. I had my Johnson and Johnson Covid Booster shot yesterday so tired.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Come on Xander!

Oh well, we'll see what it is. Great a woman found it!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I would never trust Ricard. Just saying.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I know I shouldn't, but since DeShawn is the underdog right now, I can't help but root for him; and Xander, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I can relate, Glenn. None of the other shots bothered me. When I got my Moderna booster, I got it with a Flu shot. Dumb, dumb, dumb. LOL Not only did my arms hurt, I had a headache and felt exhausted.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Thanks Penny! So Erica and Xander with his Idol can be guarenteed Final Four.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Come on guys make the right choose!!! Hope you guys feel better soon.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Let's see if they do do the smart thing and vote out Ricard. If they don't, he deserves to win for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  11. If they were smart, they wouldn't go for DeShawn. Ricard is the biggest threat. He has people in the jury who like him. If they keep DeShawn, he has made enough people mad, he will more than likely only receive 1 vote - Danny.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I agree, Jackie. But, they haven't done a lot of smart things. Each vote should have gone to Ricard, but, no, they always let him talk them out of everything. He's a good talker. None of them should trust Ricard.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I figured out how Ricard is able to win so often --- he's hard of hearing, so is not distracted by Jeff.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh, Erica, like you can trust Ricard in the Final 4. IT'S A SOLO GAME!

    ReplyDelete
  15. He does it on purpose, Erika, Do not let Ricard distract you! Dang, Xander, do not let him distract you!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. He is going to give him his idol!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh, Xander...don't be a fool

    ReplyDelete
  18. The only thing worse than going home with an idol is VOTING YOURSELF OUT, XANDER!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hi all!! It’s been so long! Been super busy and now that I’m able to watch with everyone, we have breaking weather!!! Ugh

    ReplyDelete
  20. We have to keep in mind that Xander is basically a child. He's 20 years old. That used to be too young to be on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Xander should not tell Ricard he might use the Idol on him!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jennifer - What kind of weather? Where?

    ReplyDelete
  23. You are right, Joe. If Xander gives his idol away, he's gone. I'm sure Ricard has told the others by now. I know they think they can trust Ricard, but he talks really well. He's really good at persuasion.

    ReplyDelete
  24. There he goes. He talks really well.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Severe wind, rain to, but most times misses my little area in the Kansas City area

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ricard, you know that's not true. DeShawn will not get the most votes. :::rolling my eyes:::

    ReplyDelete
  27. Deshawn might get the most votes based on who is on the jury.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't know about that, Joe. A few do not like him at all.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Be safe Jennifer.Xander needs to use the Idol on himself.

    ReplyDelete
  30. They are going to save Picard. You watch.

    ReplyDelete
  31. But most of the jury are former allies of Deshawn's.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Howdy everyone!! Sorry to be late but I was texting back and forth with my son in Iowa who just went through a couple hours of hell...Safe so far!!s\

    Squeegee

    ReplyDelete
  33. It's funny that I'm surprised they did the smart thing! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes!!!! FINALLY! Now Xander will not get his vote. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  35. So Ricard gone after Xander used his Idol. Deshawn and Xander might be the favorites now!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah. I keep forgetting Xander is just a kid. But good move buddy!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I thought for sure they'd keep Ricard. I am so glad I was wrong and they finally did the right thing!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Glad they finally got Ricard out!! Now Heather??

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't know. Wouldn't Heather guarantee the others a win?

    ReplyDelete
  40. So Deshawn said he is bad at making Fire.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't think it will be a bitter jury. You want Heather with you at the end. I think Erica won't fare that well with the jury either.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Sue - What's going on in Iowa? Storms?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I would want the three best players with me at the end...ones that have won challenges AND hurt others' feelings!!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Jackie - Giant storm front stretching from Minnesota to Oklahoma! High winds, t-storms, heavy rain and tornadoes. The Weather channel had someone on the ground near the airport in Des Moines getting tossed around! My poor grand daughter is at work!

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is a hard challenge. Now, who's the most coordinated?

    ReplyDelete
  46. A Big Brother type challenge. Are Erica and Xander the favorites?

    ReplyDelete
  47. OMGosh! SueGee, stay safe. I'm praying for your granddaughter!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Wouldn't it be a kick if Heather won this challenge? Yikes.

    Shut up Jeff!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Xander wins Immunity guarenteed Final 3!

    ReplyDelete
  50. What is Xander's best move?

    ReplyDelete
  51. I see Xander with the two women...

    ReplyDelete
  52. Glenn - Probably NOT giving Ricard that idol!

    ReplyDelete
  53. That was a great Xander backstory>

    ReplyDelete
  54. Very true Jackie. Xander needs to do something. Wow Xander keeping Erica!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Xander do not give up Immunity.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Please Xander dont do it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree with Shan, wrong read.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I agree Penny. A bad read and also insulting the Jury by saying Heather a Goat!

    ReplyDelete
  59. They have been talking about a woman not winning in the last 6 Survivors. I think Xander is under reading Erika. There are more women on the jury than men. We'll see. Because of the women talking, it could me Ericka wins?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Heather has a chance to win this challenge!

    ReplyDelete
  61. OMG!!! What a comeback!! Best duel I've ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wow Deshawn came back to win the Fire!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'm impressed at how well Heather did in this challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Does the Campout vote for Deshawn to win?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Was their a fan favorite vote this survivor?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Glenn - They aren't too cohesive. I think Danny will vote for him. But the two women? Hmm.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Penny - The last four or five years, rock woman Shia has given 100K to a favorite of her choice.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The questions will be interesting and the votes more interesting. Will the camp out vote DeShawn? Will they think Xander played the best game so he deserves it; or will the woman vote for Erika?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm thinking Erica going to win. I want Xander but I think they will go with a woman.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Wow Ricard trashing Deshawn in front of the Jury.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Anon - I think you are right.

    ReplyDelete
  72. This is one of the best tribal questioning since Season !.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Y'know, Erika just might have this!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Glenn, I agree! No clue who is winning!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I agree, Jackie. Ricard really dug in to DeShawn and Xander. They let Ericka do the most talking.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thank you so much for the updates. I live in WI and the storms are bad so weather updates have been on all night.

    ReplyDelete
  77. A little disappointed. Erika played hard, but I really felt like Xander was more deserving.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Unknown - Nasty storm! Keep safe and I hope you continue to have power

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wow Erika wins and no votes for Xander.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I feel like Erika didn’t really do anything…. Feel like Xander got the shaft

    ReplyDelete
  81. To all in lines of the storms: stay safe!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Thank you Ms Jackie for your blogging as always!!

Hope to see all of you for the start of TAR Jan 5th!!!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Who Hoo! My person won Bragging rights for me!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I agree with you jennifer. Ricard was really great at building her up. After smashing the hourglass, though, she did pick up her game.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Thank you Jackie, for all your blogging!
Good night all, until the next show seasonšŸ¤—❤️

    ReplyDelete
  86. I do think Xander was clueless on reading any situation.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Oh, and Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Congratulations to the Pool Winners

    ReplyDelete
  89. Jackie, thank you, thank you for this blog. Glad you are getting a break before TAR.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Yes! Congratulations to the pool winners!

    ReplyDelete
  91. So, congratulations to Petals, Pam, and Margo!

    Where are Petals and Monty?

    ReplyDelete
  92. I like this immediate Afterparty to get the Fresh reactions!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I will be posting on the teams for The Amazing Race soon and will open that blog pool the week before the show.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Petals has been down on the season from the start. I think it's her first blog pool win.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Congrats Petals Pam and Margo.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Congratulations to Margo, Pam, and Petals!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I know it's over, but I'm adding this: Not one person voted for Xander. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I can't believe I missed the Finale. I was just so tired, I went to bed early, not realizing we were this far into the season. Plus we had terrible storms and power out, so...

I WON BACK-to-BACK shows! WOW! Big Brother and Survivor.

Xander was my fave, but what a great season.
    Thank you Jackie.

    Merry Christmas everyone. xoxoxx

    ReplyDelete
  99. I cannot believe that Xander did not get a single vote. The guy in my pool who made final 3 was Deshaun, and he actually received a vote.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Who will do Survivor again? My choices will be Xander, Shan, and Sydney. Anyone else want to predict?

    ReplyDelete
  101. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ricard return, either.
