Survivor 45: Living the Survivor Dream - Ep. 13 Season Finale Blog Party

Yep, tonight is the three-hour (oy!) season finale.

I will be live blogging the show the best I can as it airs here on the East Coast. Refresh this page to get the latest updates. As always, the real party is in the comments area. I hope to see you there!

Lifeguard SueGee has updated the blog pool. Here's where we stand:

Austin --- Pearl, Nora M, Sharon N
Jake --- Donna in FL, TS14Fan
Katurah --- Donna NY, April W
Dee --- Judi Sweeney, Brent McKee
Julie --- Andi, PDX Granny

JURY
Kaleb
Kellie
Kendra
Bruce
Emily
Drew

Survivor fans ready?

They are starting out on a new beach tonight. There will be two Immunity Challenges, two Tribals. We get into the Previously On segment.

Austin was definitely blindsided by the Drew vote. He had no clue. He wants to talk with Dee about it. He tells her no hard feelings and that it was probably a good game move. Meanwhile, back at the camp Katurah, Julie and Jake are talking about what a pair Dee and Austin are.

In the morning they see a box. Three stations around island -- coconuts, crabs, bamboo -- count them and use the number as a combination to open it. First person to solve it gets an advantage.

JAKE wins the advantage!

To the first Immunity Challenge. Crawl under obstacle, dig up machete, cut down sandbags, untie knots, throw three sandbags in baskets, reveal numbers, retrieve keys, climb tower, puzzle. Winner gets Reward -- Sanctuary dinner. Jake gives Jeff his advantage -- two of his sandbags will be in the baskets, he only has to land one in the closest basket. Jake is in the lead. But he forgets to bring his key and has to go back for it, costing him time.

AUSTIN wins Immunity and a guaranteed place in the Final Four! Austin chooses Jake to go with him because he hadn't won any rewards and it was such a battle this time.

Katurah still wants Dee to go. She talks to Julie. Julie wants to keep Dee and get Jake out. All three women talk about voting out Jake. Meanwhile, Jake and Austin are drinking wine and eating steak. Austin tells us he wanted to bring Jake for strategic reasons. Jake tells him he has an idol. Jake would like Julie out tonight.

They return to camp where Austin tells Dee that Jake has an idol and wants Julie out. Dee and Austin both would prefer Katurah out rather than Julie. Jake tells Katurah that he has an idol and now she thinks they can send Dee home. Dee tells Julie that Jake has an idol.

They head to Tribal and it's very confusing who will be going home tonight.

Tribal Night 24 commences. Tribal is not contentious. Time to vote. It looks like everybody is getting a vote on them except Austin!

The tally - Jake plays his idol for Katurah.
Katurah, Jake, Dee, Julie, Julie.

Bye-bye, Julie.

Night 24 at camp. Jake is angry because Dee is still there. He's snapping at Katurah. She says she voted Julie because she thought there was another vote out there for her. She would have voted Dee had she known he was going to play his idol on her.

Final Immunity Challenge. Maneuver bowls on a perch walking through a frame. First person done wins. 17 total bowls.

Austin accidentally dumps his. Jake and Dee are at around ten bowls. Ack! Jake loses his. Dee is at 14 bowls! Jake breaks his frame thing returning for his bowls and gets disqualified.

DEE WINS THE FINAL IMMUNITY CHALLENGE! She will decide who to bring with her and which two must duel with making a fire.

Jake tells Dee not to take him (she didn't plan to anyway) and wants to make fire so he could have a move he makes. Dee warns Katurah to work on her fire. Austin goes to help Jake with his fire and realizes how bad he is at. He goes to Dee and suggests she keep Jake and put him on fire against Katurah.

Tribal Council time. What will Dee do? Jeff asks about Dee's conversations with each of them. Katurah says Dee was worried about her strengths. Austin tells Jeff he was willing to make fire. But he doesn't know if he will or not. Jake wanted to make fire, didn't want to be taken.

Dee brings Austin -- so Jake and Katurah will make fire. JAKE WINS!

Katurah admits to all that she's a lawyer before Jeff snuffs her torch. Love all around. Austin, Dee and Jake are the Final Three.

The Final Three get their big breakfast feast. They talk about the jury members, Kaleb first. Kaleb tells us he's a bit partial to Jake. Kellie, Kendra (who speaks highly of Austin). And on and on.

The Three head to Final Tribal.

Kendra - I want to feel your truth. How did you make the game yours?Jake? Nothing I wouldn't do. I cried a lot but I love the game. Dee? My reason was my family. Day be day, having fun. Austin? I was the alternate, wanted to do everything.

Katurah - Facing your fears. Austin - blindside thing, lying to someone's face. Dee - Feels the same way, betraying or blindsiding. Jake - Fear of failing but getting right back up.

Drew - Reba Core Four success? Dee - loved it because it was the four of us. Austin agrees. Austin's name was never written down.

Emily - Dee use a decision with your brain, not heart. I need to build my relationships.

Kaleb - Congratulates Jake. Jake says he tried to build relationships. He had to keep trying.

Kellie - Saving others? Not telling people? Austin had an idol and played one for Julie.

Julie - Questions Dee and Austin. Showmance? Is it real? Dee says real. Austin says real, not strategic. Dee admits to Austin that she told Julie the vote.

Time to vote. Kendra votes Austin. Emily votes Dee. Drew votes Austin.

The tally -- Dee, Austin, Dee, Austin, Dee, Austin, Dee, Dee.

DEE WINS SURVIVOR 45!

Congratulations to blog pool winners Judi Sweeney and Brent McKee!

Survivor 46 sneak peek - newbies. Yay! February.

  21. Once again, no snow in Missouri. In fact, no one will even need a stupid COAT.
I hate that I live in a state with no snow.

  22. Hope y’all are having a good night. I wanted to encourage everyone to remember Jackie at Christmas/holiday season if you are able! She does so much for us blogging these shows and we have so much fun at the blogging parties. If you have the ability to send Jackie a donation for the holidays, I know she would really be grateful. I sent mine the other day and just wanted to stop by here and say how much I appreciate all you do Jackie! I also wanted to put this message here in case it encouraged anyone to send something if you are able. Happy holidays to everyone in our group - whether you celebrate this holiday or not, I wish you all peace and joy this time of year! Cheers! Xoxo Dr. Celine

    ReplyDelete
  28. A lot of times the person who wins this reward, gets voted off. I hope it's not a jinx if it's Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Penny and Joe.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Penny. Jackie I hope you can get your roads open soon. Hi Celine!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Got to go do some dinner things...will be back

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wow - GO AUSTIN (and Jake)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Does Jeff Probst ever age?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jeff always has to rub it in 🙄

    ReplyDelete
  35. Austin wins Immunity and reward. Jake has an Idol he can use at the Tribal Counsel tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  36. wow - thanks feor that kick-n-th-nuts, Jeff

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hi Jackie and everyone!

    Merry Christmas!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lol, Joe. Great minds think alike!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Penny, Dr. Celine, SueGee and Sharon

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ha, I’m sure Dee that she’d get picked.
    Hi Sharon.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hello Everyone, I thought I'd drop in tonight to say "Hello" to all my old friends. I haven't been watching the show, so I won't be able to contribute much to the conversation. I hope you all will allow me to hang out with you on tonight's finale.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi Ed, always happy to see you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Julie wants Jake gone not knowing Jake has an Idol. Jake tells Austin has an idol.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Loose lips sink ships. Man, Jake and Austin just do not know when to shut up. UGH!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Now Katurah is playing the game...wow.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Dumb move to tell him about the idol

    ReplyDelete
  47. This is going to be tricky. Why is he telling Dee? She'll go back and tell Julie. My gosh, these men are too trusting.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Everyone knows Jake has an Idol but Julie doesn't believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi Ed. Why did jake tell about his idol?

    ReplyDelete
  50. omgosh - a Very barry Christmas is on! He was my first hard crush, the first poster on my teen wall. I'm missing it!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi Glenn. I guess he's trying to get in tight with Austin. Dumb move.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Can’t any of these people play this game?! Jake tells Austin about his idol. Does he not know that telling Austin is just like telling Dee? And that telling Dee is like telling Julie. And then he tells KATURAH?! Katurah who think that Julie telling her that she wants to got to the final with Katurah is a compliment. You want to go to the Final with people you think you can beat. Julie thinks she can beat Katurah! HOW DO ANY OF THESE PEOPLE NOT GET THIS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi Homie... you've been missed here. Good to see you back!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I am glad you came to the Chat for the Survivor finale. Jake plays his Idol on Katurah.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hi Homie! It's been a while! It's good to be back even if it's only for the night.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Bummer... I wanted it to be Dee!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Boy, that could have gone a lot of ways. Katurah accidentally saved Dee who voted for her. And if Austin had gone with Dee, Dee might have gone home.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Ed, the finale of Reindeer Games is tomorrow night. If you haven't been watching it you should still watch the finale. It's been surprisingly good!

    ReplyDelete
  59. True that, Joe. Crazy vote!

    ReplyDelete
  60. So close to the end. That's gptta' be hard to take.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Petals - who is the Very Barry Christmas about?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wow, I thought it would backfire on him. They all voted differently! Geesh!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Merry Christmas Jackie... left you a little something for Christmas.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Joe, Austin would never have voted for Dee.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Sharon - Thank you. I haven't checked the email today!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Good grief... time for Manilow to give it up.

All these singers from the 70s/80s seem to be trying to keep (or resurrect) their days of entertaining. For some it works. For most, it just doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Monty, I'll try to check it out tomorrow night Thanks,

    ReplyDelete
  68. Barry Manilow, I think, Jackie

    ReplyDelete
  69. monty, I agree about the reindeer games. If they don't take out Taylor, they're all in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  70. What was that remark from Julie to Katurah “Go to Law School” about? It’s so hard to keep track of the stories that they’ve told each other: did Julie know that Katurah HAS gone to Law School already?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Ok, dinner is in the oven and will be done in a bit. I have burnt ends and cheesey potatoes with green peas. A little BBQ just before Christmas!!

    Squeegee

    ReplyDelete
  72. Man, what a challenge!! Climbing through those bedding grid.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Oh no!!! Dang! Poor Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  74. wow - how dpo they come up with these challenges?

    GO JAKE!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Oh yeah, Jackie - Barry Manilow. I popped over and am recording it.
    Yes, I'm a Fanilow. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jake is out for breaking the Challenge!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Jake is a teensy bit of a hot head when he doesn’t win.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I hope she doesn't turn on Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Let's see if Dee can find a way to screw Austin again

    ReplyDelete
  80. Brent, I don't think Katurah has told anyone that she's a lawyer. She may have said that she wanted to go to law school. Julie will be surprised when she finds out that she's already an attorney.

    ReplyDelete
  81. you know, for several weeks, I thought Katurah was the name of one of the tribes. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  82. If you're gonna' win an immunity, that's the one to win.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I'm still rooting for Austin, but I wouldn't be upset with a Jake WIN either.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Not a big Manilow fan.

Brent - During a talk once Katurah told Julie she would like to try law school, if memory serves.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Dee's played the best game but something about her rubs me the wrong way, lol

    ReplyDelete
  86. Dee is dumb there. She didn't have to tell Katurah that she didn't want her in the final 3. She just had to tell her that she was being loyal to Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Jake has to be really ticked off now. LOL

Manilow is literally 80 YEARS OLD now (June 1943).
    Give it up... for real.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I want Dee or Austin to win. There's something cold about Dee. She's played great. Respect. But I'm not sure how much I actually like her.

    ReplyDelete
  89. SueGee... I was dreaming about brisket last night, lol. The burnt ends and cheesy potatoes sound delish!

    ReplyDelete
  90. (I can't help my Manilow love. I'm sure he's the reason I love Euro-tennis players with those noses and all those other handsome noses, ie Adrien Brody, Jeff Goldblum, Adam Driver. No shame in my game, LOL.)

    Poor Jake.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I might have to tune into the Reindeer Games tomorrow night. I didn’t think I would enjoy it.
I read Jackie’s blog and the comments and everyone seems to enjoy it. I just didn’t think I could watch that much Frankie.

    ReplyDelete
  92. For any KISS fans here, today is Peter Criss' 78th Birthday. Loved the Catman!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Sharon - age is just a number. I won't even list a certain person who is over 80

    ReplyDelete
  94. Michelle, Frankie is annoying as ever but he's a damn good competitor. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins it all. I'm hoping for a Nicole or Taylor win though. GIRL POWER 😁

    ReplyDelete
  95. Austin noww ants to go to Fire. It is crazy that people want to make Fire.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Dee has played this game well. I didn't like the fact that she ran back to tell Juli everything, but Austln does the same. Big difference is Dee is so cold about it. She has a quick strike; and they don't even see it coming.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Monty - He was my fave Kiss member! ♪ Beth, I hear you callin'...♪

    ReplyDelete
  98. Octogenarians are fabulous!! Sharon you surprise me. :)

    ReplyDelete
  99. Jagger is 80 now, too. I like him better than Manilow!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Michelle I think you will like Reindeer games.

    ReplyDelete
  101. when was the last girl to win? I defer, of course, to the Survivor history brain trust of Jackie & Monty.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Michelle - Reindeer Games is light, easy-watch fun.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Michelle, Reindeergames is like Big Brother without all of the angsty interpersonal f drama. In other words, fun.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Jake is a sour puss. My gosh, he's a grown man - a lawyer! Stop sniveling!

    ReplyDelete
  105. MICK is 80? Paul is 81. Wow - they move better than I do, for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  106. YES, Petals! Beth is one of my favorite KISS songs ever!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Agree Brent (re R Games)

    ReplyDelete
  108. she never should've brought Austin. He can win over her with the Jury, right?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Two lawyers going at the fire challenge

    ReplyDelete
  110. I didn't think I'd like Reindeer Games, but it's fun.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Monty - Beth is the first song that made me tear-up, in 6th grade. LOL (besides Puff the Magic Dragon, which is sinfully tragic for a childrens song)

    ReplyDelete
  112. I would be a little surprised if anyone but Dee or Austin got a vote. They won a lot of comps and they were in the majority the whole time. I really don't know what case either of the lawyers can make.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Maryanne, S42 Petals. But... I'm not a Survivor brain - I had to look it up, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Nicole and Britney whine too much. And Frankie is just too much.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Keith Richards just turned 80.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Those jurors are a bit too vocal

    ReplyDelete
  117. I had a Phone call. What reason was given for Katurah and Jake to make Fire?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Okay, you've convinced me. I’ll join the Reindeer Games. At least I know I’ll enjoy the party in the comments. Anyone know what time it’s on Central Time?

    ReplyDelete
  119. wow - thanks Friend.

I think all of our loves have aged just like we have. Darn it.

    ReplyDelete
  120. c'mon Jake's flame! burn baby burn

    ReplyDelete
  121. Brit's gone, Joe. It's down to Taylor, Xavier, Nicole and Frankie.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Poor Katurah. I know she wanted this.

    ReplyDelete
  123. YES! The hothead made flames

    ReplyDelete
  124. @Brent. I never said Austin would vote for Dee. But Dee wanted him to vote for Katurah which would have resulted in a revote in the 1:1:1 tie that would have ended with Dee going home

    ReplyDelete
  125. Since you mentioned KISS, I can now trot out my biggest celebrity connection. I have a Bacon Number of 3, because I went to high school with Shanon Tweed, AKA Mrs. Gene Simmons. She was a year behind me at Mount Royal Collegiate in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. I don’t think I ever spoke to her but I saw her in the hallways.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Jake has the underdog story and if the jury is bitter enough at Austin and Dee, he could do it.

    Oh, there she told them!

    ReplyDelete
  127. @Monty. Sorry to see Brit go. But every time I watched a little bit it was either Frankie acting out or Nicole and Britney whining

    ReplyDelete
  128. Joe you’re right, Frankie is just too much.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Katurah admits she is a Lawyer..

    ReplyDelete
  130. I've been rooting for Jake for a while. Also like Katurah...guess I liked the lawyers LOL

    ReplyDelete
  131. I don't think anyone in the jury likes or respects Jake. And I don't think they are that bitter at Dee and Austin. I'll be really surprised if he gets even one vote,... even if his real mom is on the jury

    ReplyDelete
  132. Great story Brent. I love the Bacon Number 3.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I prefer Xavier's winning style on BB Reindeer Games. Quiet, does well, doesn't play Frankie.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Are there no limits on how much make up BB lets you wear?

    ReplyDelete
  135. Michelle - forgive my bad memory, but aren't you from KC?

    ReplyDelete
  136. Agree, 80 is just a number... for many things. Some people are really fortunate and are able to do things like run in marathons... well into their 80s and 90s.

I happen to be 81 and I used to love to sing too (school and church). After age 70, it finally became time to recognize the vocal cords aren't what they were. It's not fun to suddenly hear flats, sharps, or cracks. Fading vocals will happen to the vast majority of us, especially after age 70. It's up to us to recognize "when." On the fair side, some musical genres will show it more than others. Rockers are more able to 'fake it'... crooners, not so easily.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I have a Bacon number of 1 :o)

Went through school with John Belushi - and guess who was also in Animal House??

    ReplyDelete
  138. Jake could be the dark horse.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Sharon, I gotcha. Barry did well. He sounds different, but it's him. And I know he is cosmetically enhanced, and gay (whhaaahhh). But I don't care. It's Barry. 💓

    ReplyDelete
  140. Sharon, I admire your singing ability. I definitely can’t sing. Everyone has special talents, the gift of song isn’t one of mine, but art is.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Can you really reward Jake for constantly trying things that failed? I don't see it. And they failed because of Austin, Dee, Julie et al.

    ReplyDelete
  142. Petals, I’m from Indiana, right on the southern shores of Lake Michigan.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Joe - I like his scrap. And his accent. Shaddap. Obviously I have questionable taste in men, BWHAHAHAHA

    ReplyDelete
  144. Thanks Michelle, not sure why I thought you were closer.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Petals,
Remember the era when the big thing was deciding who was best... Manilow or Diamond? They were both so popular and had #1 songs out at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I do remember Sharon! I liked some Diamond songs. But Barry had the edge, by a nose.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Wow Austin was the Alternate. Not knowing until 72 Hours before Survivor.

    ReplyDelete
  148. It's funny listening to Jake. Can almost hear how the words will sound before he says them. Almost like listening to Boston Rob. lol

    ReplyDelete
  149. I wish Jake would stop crying. My husband thinks Jake is going to win.

    ReplyDelete
  150. wow - this could be a sqeaker vote. Still hoping Jakes wins.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Ww have a pissing contest going on. LOLOLOLOL

    ReplyDelete
  152. They better give Austin a sandwich at the "After Party" 😁

    ReplyDelete
  153. Watching the jury's reactions, I think it's going to be Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Julie asks about Dee and Austin Showmance.

    ReplyDelete
  155. I really like Emily as the season progressed. But the first night she was a bit intense. I think she’ll go home a changed person.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I find it interesting that Dee and Austin both referred to their relationship in the past tense.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Hhhmmm... Dee came on pretty strong there at the end, Austin or Dee??

    ReplyDelete
  158. I will be a little pissed if Dee's betrayal of Austin ends up being the deciding factor.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Can you have two number ones?

    ReplyDelete
  160. I don't remember it ever being a tie at the end...

    ReplyDelete
