The Amazing Race 20 Blog Party - 03/04/12

Be still, my heart. The show is actually starting on time here on the East Coast! Oh my. I supposed we shouldn't get used to it, eh?

As it airs here, I'll be updating this post with the major events. However, the real fun is in the comments area. Everyone is welcome to join in to cheer or jeer the teams!

The teams are heading to Paraguay. The Detour is Stacked Up or Strung Out. Stacking watermelons or attaching strings to harps. The Border Patrol guys are way ahead of the other teams. The Roadblock is to perform a cultural dance with a water bottle balanced on their heads. Er, well ... one head.

Whoa! Art and JJ are at the Pit Stop and no other team has even finished the Detour! They won a trip to the Bahamas. Rachel and Dave used their Express Pass when they realized that all the other teams were already at the harps. Most of the teams switched from watermelons to harps.

Dave ended up breaking all the bottles in the dance. While they arrived second at the Pit Stop, they have to wait out a two-hour penalty. Rachel and Brendon came in third, which became second. Then the Jersey/Staten Island "Fitness" team came in third. Kentucky, four. Nary and Jamie, five. Rachel and Dave's penalty is up, six. Kerri and Stacy, seven.

Vanessa and Ralph made it to eight. The twins were last and were Philiminated.

  10. I know, Jackie, for once it's starting on time!

I might not make it here Wednesday night. Have to work. Won't get off until 8 p.m. I will try to make it home in time to at least get the last part of Survivor. That means I have to watch it late again. :-(

  11. Maggie is doing well, Penny. Thank you for asking. Maggie is one tough cookie. Now if it were Pebbles she would be milking it like crazy.

    Hey, Merrilee, Petals and Sue!

  13. I thought the farm boys would do better.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh no. This might mean they are eliminated. O.O

    ReplyDelete
  16. yeah... they act all surprised at the tasks. What did they think they were signing up for?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Some of these teams are nasty!!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. wait...she could see Rachel's WHAT? I didnt see anything showing. Am I stupid?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh, Brenchel are being ugly!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I couldn't do that bottle dance.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wow, they got through this really fast!

    ReplyDelete
  22. As a retired bellydancer, I can do the bottle thing!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Smart thing to do, but it's so early in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Becky, whoever the other girl was was being ugly first. Oh My... can't believe I'm taking up for Brenchel. Well. fair is fair!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Cool Silk!!! I wish I could bellydance.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That is so cool, Silk. My daughter has taken belly dancing and she loves it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. This is not good. I think they could be eliminated. Not good at all.

    I like them. :-(

  28. 2 hours is an awfully long time

    ReplyDelete
  29. Started in 197-something on the advice of my chiropractor. Best thing ever for a bad back. Danced pro in DC clubs in the early 80s. Now just in my kitchen.

  30. Hey Brainiac Boyfriend.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Paybacks are a B!tch, Vanessa.

    ReplyDelete
  32. How wonderful, Silk! I didn't realize it would be good for a bad back. My daughter absolutely loves it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi Petals. Still hungover?

    Hi Nickelpeed.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Not to quit... ??? just go on to the next comp... that's not quitting to me.

That using your head thing is hard!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I couldn't do the bottle thing.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Wow - Rachel! I have to say that was REALLY good. And Joey!

    ReplyDelete
  37. My gosh, she is SUCH a drama queen.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Rachael is such a drama queen.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dang, they are so lucky. And, they gave up their express pass, too. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  40. This is actually sad for these last two teams.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow, I can't recall such a time spread between first and last...

    ReplyDelete
  42. Who's going to make it????

    ReplyDelete
  43. Is it just me are are the legs harder this year?

    ReplyDelete
  44. These are hard. I feel sorry for these two teams. I like the twins.

    ReplyDelete
  45. When did they give up their express pass. I thought that was why they incurred the penalty, because they didn't. Anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  46. I also bet this is a non-elimination round.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm kind of hoping this is an elimination round. You know how the non-elim rounds go: the next leg has a plane or something that causes them to all bunch up again. It would really suck to finish like 12 hours ahead of the last place team this week and end up losing to them next week.

    ReplyDelete
  48. This is taking forever!!! I can't imagine how frustrated they are. Dang it, the twins are gone.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Meb, the guy broke all his bottles trying to balance them.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I hate to see the twins go.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well, I'm sad. Dang it.

Okay. Well, hopefully I'll see you all Wednesday night after work. I'll be late joining in though.

    Night

    ReplyDelete
  52. Crap! I really liked them.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm okay with that outcome. They were so far behind, one of those last couple teams HAD to be eliminated.

    ReplyDelete
  54. See you guys Wed night.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I liked the twins, too. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  56. I know Becky, but if they used the express pass they wouldn't have had to do the bottles. That's why I didn't think they had used the express pass as Nicklespeed commented.

Oh well... see you all next TAR.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Aww, yeah. I was hoping it was a NON this week.

Boyfriend - uhm, yeah. I am still a bit hungover. My gf and I were having wine last night, then my (other) bf & I had "words", so I just chugged.

Everything is cool today. I stayed in, as you know.

  58. Rachel always cries with NO TEARS!!! How is that possible?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh no! Rachel is crying next week. Drinking time for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  60. They skipped both the watermelon and harp challenge

    ReplyDelete
  61. That's why they gave up the express pass.

    ReplyDelete
  62. The Express Pass let them skip the Detour, but they had to do the Roadblock. It's only good for one task.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ahhh! Thanks Nicklespeed and Jackie for the explanation. I didn't realize that. Little slow tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Thank you all for stopping by!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Yeah, they ditched the Watermelons but were smart enough to go to check out the Harp task. When they saw all the other teams there doing the Harp they decided to use the Express pass to go on to the Roadblock.

There's a theory at TV Without Pity that says you should always take the "most photogenic" Detour task, as that will probably be the easiest. Which I guess leads to the question of which task is more photogenic: Watermelons or Harps?
