The Amazing Race: March 24, 2013 Blog Party

Although I'm putting this post up and out there on time, the show is delayed here due to March Madness basketball. 60 Minutes started at 7:46pm ET, so I expect TAR at 8:46pm ET. Once the show finally starts, I'll update this post with the major happenings as they air. But, as always, the real party is in the comments area. Come join us!

From the promos, we know the teams are off to Africa. It sounds like a good episode. Since we have to wait for it, it better be good!

It's starting!

The teams are heading to Botswana. All the teams hit Africa at the same time, but the next safari charter flights divide them into three groups.

Roadblock: Who wants to make new friends? Get taught new skills from indigenous folks. In this case, scorpion hunting.

Detour: Fire or Fowl. Making fire with two sticks or hunting guinea fowl.

Well, the tides are changing -- Bates and Anthony are in the lead after so-so showings previously.

1. Bates and Anthony - also won a trip to Thailand.
2. Pam and Winnie
3. Chuck and Wynona -- Oh my!
4. Joey and Meghan
5. Caroline and Jennifer

Oh geez ... Mona and Beth decide to drive when they should make it on foot, then realize their error.

6. Mona and Beth
7. Max and Katie - Non-Philimination leg, still in the race. They will have a speed bump in the next leg.

  2. ~~~SPLASH~~~ Here we go!!
    Hi everyone!!!

  3. Hi there! I was a bit surprised about the apology for being "insensitive" to those who fought in Vietnam. Heck, they showed the country and things that are there. Sometimes life moves on.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I guess I am ignorant and insensitive cause I don't get what in particular was offensive

  5. Yay, I made it home in time to watch this week. I'm flipping back and forth, or will be between TAR and CA.

I'm happy they apologized about last week. I know a lot of veterans who weren't happy with the episode... especially highlighting the B54 crash memorial. Anyway, they apologized and now people can move on.

  6. Monty, Thanks for explaining that the crash site was insensitive. I honestly didn't know

  7. I can understand the vets being upset, but it is what it is.

  8. Chuck and Wynona are so out of their league.

  9. Becky - Wars tend to do that. Maybe we humans should stop having them?

    If only ...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Jackie, they are slow even for South Alabama where they live.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Jackie, I agree that humans cause wars and we shouldn't have them.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The theater where they sang was part of a downed American B-52 bomber victory site.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I wish it were that easy to not have wars. Humans can be so aggressive and bullheaded.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree it is what it is. Vietnam was so divisive to an entire generation and the country. I think something like six men where on that bomber and two died and four went to prison camps.

I love this leg in Africa. If I only loved flying more, it would be on my bucket list to go on a safari in Africa.

  15. Honestly, people need to lighten up. I mean, every U.S. war memorial is potentially offensive to some other country. Should the English be upset that we celebrate Independence Day? Should the Germans be upset that we celebrate D-Day?

  16. One of my biggest dreams is to go on a photographic safari

    This kieis a whuss

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ooops, I meant the kid is is a whuss

  18. These guys are so funny. LOL

  19. Agreed, Penny. The closest I'll ever come to an African safari is/was my trip to Busch Gardens in Tampa this past January. The serengeti portion of the park is breath taking. I got lots of great pics to remember the trip. :)))

  20. Oh Joey, be a man...LOL. He is too funny

  21. I hate it when two shows are on the same commercial schedule, lol. This flipping back and forth is for the birds.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's weird how they put the scorpions in "nap mode" by sucking on them. Now, THAT is something I wouldn't do!

  23. Once again, I gave up on Celebrity Apprentice. The two-hour (sometimes three) is way too much. If it were hour-long eps, I'd watch again.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah, Monty...I have always wanted to do 2 things in my life...go to Africa and Australia, since I was a little girl. I would love to see lions in the wild; and I just LOVE the platypus!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm going back and forth to each show. I'm not a Omorosa fan. I do think Gary Busy is hilarious, though; and I do like Trace Atkins.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I haven't been to Botswana but I have been to Tunisia in North Africa...No lions but lots of camels

    ReplyDelete
  27. That's exciting lynn.

    Yay, for Wynonna (sp)

  28. When we were stationed in Germany, I so badly wanted to go to Africa; but believe it or not, it is very expensive to travel by plane in Europe. So, I never made it. Broke my heart.

  29. I lived in Germany and belgium

    ReplyDelete
  30. I would love to spend some time in a village like that just to experience the culture. It would be so magnificent.

    ReplyDelete
  31. This is like TAR meets SURVIVOR!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love Belgium. There are so many places I loved while we lived in Germany. Got to see a lot in 4 years. I always get jealous when I hear people visiting Hawaii and Peru, etc., then my husband reminds me that we, too, have seen places many others have not. I enjoyed living in a small German village. Was quite an enjoyable experience.

  33. We lived there for over 8 years . We loved it . guess we would still be there but in 1990 peace broke out and we had to leave. we lived in Stuttgart,Germany, Mons Belgium and Fulda Germany

  34. Geesh, I'm sitting here, watching the show and eating some lemon heads. I just noticed how many I have eaten...O_o

    ReplyDelete
  35. Lynn, were you Army? I really loved Germany. Belgium is just beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I've only been to Canada and Mexico, as well as most of the "lower 48" states. I would love to sightsee around the world, but I doubt it will ever happen. At least I live near NYC, a place many folks always want to see, but often never can make it. I can skip into town for dinner after work and then sleep in my own bed at bedtime. That's good, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  37. My husband was a civilian working for the army

    ReplyDelete
  38. Jackie,NYC is a really international city.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Jackie, I would have never made it to Europe if I hadn't been military. I grew up in the Adirondacks of NY and I have never been to the city. Always wanted to. There are so many Americans who have never ever been out of their home state.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Jackie, NYC is on my bucket list as well. :)) Hopefully make it one of these years.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Joey cracks me up. I'm not sure what it is about him that I like, but I do.

    ReplyDelete
  42. This was fun. Thank you Jackie. See everyone Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I really enjoyed the show tonight

    ReplyDelete
  44. NYC is my favorite vacation place.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks, Jackie. See you Wed. night.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks Jackie, Good night everyone

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sharon, you live in a beautiful area. So many people think NY is one big parking lot; but UpState is gorgeous.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Lynn - From fifth grade until college, I lived in the "foothills" of the Adirondacks -- Saratoga County.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm tickled for Chuck and Wynona. They're fighters.

Now off to CA full-time. See everyone on Wednesday for the Survivor pool party. Thanks again for hosting us Jackie.
