Survivor 38: Edge of Extinction Ep. 2 Blog Party

I think the season got off to a good start last week. It seems that the castaways all seem to be there in it to win it … or, at least they're all dedicated show fans willing to work to win.

Then there's Reem. I guess we'll see how bad she really wants it this week!

I will be live blogging the show as it airs here on the East Coast. Please forgive me if I'm bad with some of the names -- it takes me a few weeks to get them down. Refresh this page to get the latest news! As always, the real fun is in the comments area -- feel free to join in on the conversation!

Since we still don't know how Extinction is going to work, Lifeguard Laurie and I talked over our long-standing blog pool first out gets reassigned policy. Y'see, although Reem was indeed voted out, she remains playing the game. She will last more than one episode which was our original thinking when we started out having the first one out reassigned. We have no clue whether Extinction will have more people, like almost a separate tribe, how long she'll be there or what will happen. Long story short … if you have Reem in the blog pool, you still have her.

That said, here are the standings:

Manu Tribe
Chris Underwood - Glenn Allen, Laurie
Dan DaSilva "Wardog" - Jackie, Nana in the NW
David Wright * - Dr_Celine, PDX Granny, Renee Buck
Keith Sowell - Donna in Alabama, meb, Skyriverblue
Kelley Wentworth * - Donna in NY, Jenna G
Lauren O'Connell - Brian, Krysta Gibson, Sharon N.
Rick Devens - Auntie Leigh, Merrilee
Wendy Diaz - Janice, Jennasmom, tbc

Kama Tribe
Aubry Bracco * - Cheryl in NC, Margo, Petals
Aurora McCreary - Ed in Ohio, marthalight
Eric Hafemann - Bizaro22, Pinky, Shannon
Gavin Whitson - Brenda, Kelsey NY
Joe Anglim * - Carol C., Kismet
Julia Carter - Donna in FL, Monty924, Jennifer
Julie Rosenberg - Delee, MikesGirl
Ron Clark - CherryPie, Judi Sweeney, Rochelle
Victoria Baamonde - Indiana Jane, Karen in VS, SueGee

LIMBO -- Extinction?!?!?!
Reem Daly - David, Terry is a Texan, Sharon C.

Okay! Let's see what happens tonight!

Reem doesn't know any more about Extinction than we do. She really wants back in the game, but is breaking down.

Wendy, missing her Reem ally, thinks Kelley was behind it all. She wants Kelley out. Meanwhile, Kelley sees her reaction. She doesn't want Wendy to find an idol.

Kama, still enjoying their victory last week, seem to be all having fun and bonding. Aubry doesn't tell them that she doesn't like "Kumbaya Survivor." She would have preferred having to go to Tribal first. She's very concerned that she and Joe are likely targets. And, of course, they are. Victoria thinks Aubry is in a bit of a panic. And, in the clips they're showing, Aubry is working a bit too hard to befriend people. Oops!

A couple of the guys are suspicious that Kelley might already have an idol since she's having people search together with her. David is thinking that Wendy's loyalty might be very worthy in keeping her around. David is bonding with Rick and he even talks final two with him for a bit.

On the other tribe, Gavin is gung-ho looking for an idol. Julie notices the men keep disappearing and figures they're looking for idols.

Whoa! Lauren, who idolizes Kelley, is the first one to actually find an idol!

Time for the Immunity Challenge! Swim to a cage, up and over, untie snake, get snake over cage, swim it back, ending up with throwing a ring toss thing to spell Immunity. Reward is a choice of spices and fork or a fishing kit. Kama sits out Julie.

KAMA wins Immunity! This is the second time out of two. They choose the fishing gear. (A wise choice, methinks.)

Wardog thinks Keith is a liability in challenges due to his poor swimming and the fact that he begged to throw the disks in this one, then hogged time failing to hit the target several times. I like Keith, but the guy is no challenge beast for sure. The target might shift from Wendy or Kelley (dependent on who's talking) to Keith.

Kelley still wants Wendy out. Meanwhile, Keith is playing his Nice Card with the others. He is a nice guy and everyone knows it. Rick and Chris talk about taking out Kelley. David is on board with the idea. Wardog is still reluctant. He wants to keep bigger targets around. Kelley is getting nervous. She tells us she would vote herself out, so she's wary. She only really trusts Lauren.

Time for Tribal Council …
Jeff asks Wendy if she's concerned because she got votes last week. She is. Kelley is a little concerned even though Wardog tells her that Reem was the vote against her. Kelley says that if she remains, she's a strong player and will always be a bigger target. Keith talks about the vote depends on relationships. Chris stresses both trust and challenge performance. People are saying it will be a blindside tonight. Keith said everyone is worried so it will be a blindside no matter what.

The tally:
Kelley, Keith, Wendy, Keith, Keith, Keith …

They went for physically strong. Keith isn't happy. DANG IT! He keeps repeating and then he hits the fire and decision to go to Extinction. He's praying for a sign from God when they close out the show. But I cannot see him not going for the chance!

They end with teasers for next week -- Lauren injures her ankle (at least I think it was Lauren) and Reem is upset in Extinction saying she's been there for three days and wondering if she should raise the white flag for rescue.

So we know nothing more than we knew before about Extinction. Y'know, eventually they're going to have to spill the beans!

  7. Hi Jenna and Penny. Is their a task on edge of extinction or just not raise the quit flag?

  8. Hey Ed, Teeb & Squeeeeeeeg!

    Stella anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hi Ed Hi TBC. I am curious about the extinction island. Seems like all we know is Reem can't raise the quit flag.

  10. I’m having trouble posting, so I’ll be lurking more than posting...

  11. Glenn - It doesn't seem like Reem knows any more than we know about Extinction.

  12. Hi Ed, tbc and Suegee.
Didn't Aubrey play "too hard" last time. I thought she learned her lesson from before...apparently not. Their is making connections and their is being paranoid and if they smell blood in the water...

  13. Looks like Edge of Extinction is going to take a lot of willpower.

  14. Hey Petals and everyone else I may have missed arriving. I'm actually watching the Warriors & Heat. Survivor will be on about the same time the BB game is over!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I know I don't pay attention 100% of the time but I don't recall seeing much if any of my pool girl Aurora.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Victoria is pretty shiftless. How did she land on this show?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi, Glenn, Jenna, Ed and SueGee!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm hoping one of the girls find it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks Jackie. It would be cool if extinction served like a third tribe!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes!!! Don't tell anyone!! I hope nobody else finds it there, now. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  21. Penny it looked like she buried the Idol. Hopefully it was just the wrapper she buried!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, take the snake outta the cage ... BWHAHAAAAA

    ReplyDelete
  23. Keith hurting my tribe Manu since he cant swim!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I was wondering how the guy who can't swim was doing

    ReplyDelete
  25. Omg... I completely forgot about the show tonight, lol. I'll just read here and then watch when it's over. Can't believe it... @@

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'd hate to see Manu lose again, but I really like Joe.

    ReplyDelete
  27. My Survivor Joe needs to NOT be such an MVP, because that just increases the target on his back

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey SueGee. For once, I know what you go through, LOL. I just tuned in to see my tribe win immunity. WooHoo

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow. Manu just has bad luck. I'd hate to see Keith leave, but they just might do it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hopefully my pool guy Chris doesn't go home. He was only one that got the rings to hit the targets. Keith needs to go.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey Homie Better late than...………...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi Glenn. I need to go back and watch the beginning of the show. Good thing that I have the DVR set to record every week. :)))

    ReplyDelete
  33. They need to get rid of the guy who can't swim. Nice enough guy, but he is dragging them down...

    ReplyDelete
  34. I agree, Petals. He needs to keep a lower profile. I don't think he can do that, though. He's a huge competitor.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hi Homie... Petals, I grabbed a Stella :))

    ReplyDelete
  36. This hour goes by too fast. I wish they'd move it up to 90 minutes. The commercials shorten it so much.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Keith is a liability, but a good meat shield. Easily expendable. Need to keep him out of the water, tho - sharks will mistake him for an injured seal or something.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree with Wentworth - save Keith for another Tribal

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes, keep Keith because it would be a wasted eviction (just like they always do in BB).

    ReplyDelete
  40. That was a beautiful crab!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Weak liability player vs. strong competitive player, tough choice this early in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  42. David if gets rid of Wentworth will then be the only returning player on his tribe, He would be the next obvious target. Plus the other two returners will need all the returners they can use if tribes merge1

    ReplyDelete
  43. I never really liked Kelly. I wouldn't mind seeing her go.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yes, don't waste the eviction on someone who won't matter. Keith might surprise us later on, though. I'm so tired of culling the women first. It's irritating. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  45. Would't you spend like every night at the Y if you were going on Survivor? And every morning building a fire in the back yard...LOL I don't know how people end up on this show not knowing how to swim or make fire.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Will someone else be going to Edge of Extinction island tonight? Reem would probably welcome some company.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Joe, I've never been a Kelly fan either. Never one of my favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It would be ironic if Lauren saved Kelly with the Idol to save her Survivor Idol.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi Joe!! I don't think it really matters much with this Extinction twist, but it would be funny if Kelly and Reem had to live together in misery, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ed, they have a choice of where to go leaving the TC

    ReplyDelete
  51. SueGee, it's go to extinction or go home though. If Kelly's voted off, no way she chooses to go home.

    ReplyDelete
  52. At this point, I'm not really bonded to anyone. So I don't care who goes. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  53. I bet they do send the evictee to Edge of Extinction, and when they get enough for a 3rd tribe, they'll let them compete again. Maybe??

    ReplyDelete
  54. Commercials have been teasing something surprising at the end of the show...

    ReplyDelete
  55. NY Joe - exactly! You'd bulk-up (like the anchor man obviously did), learn to swim, build fire, etc. I mean, the show's been on for 19 years - WATCH IT AND LEARN

    ReplyDelete
  56. Now I do feel sorry for Keith. He could get stronger later on, though.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I think Jeff sometimes has a little too much influence when conducting these Tribals. He likes to stir the pot!

    ReplyDelete
  58. "WarDog"? I just don't know ... I feel like he nicknamed himself. Never works.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Is their a possibility they could have a duel between Reem and the person tonight?

    ReplyDelete
  60. I doubt it Pen. No time.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I agree with you Ed. I think he says things that he shouldn't.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Who’s going to be blindsided... the person going home and people in the tribe?!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Will Keith hook up with reem?

    ReplyDelete
  64. You have to know how to swim on Survivor!! Sorry guys, had to dip out for a bit. Something came up. Will have to re watch the show later. I will be in FL next two Wednesdays so I'll be back. Everyone have a wonderful couple of weeks Thankyou Jackie! Night all!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh c’mon...

    tbc

    ReplyDelete
  66. Should not be that hard. If you really had survivor as a dream you take the torch to try to get back in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Seriously, is it that hard of a question? Lots of people would love to be on Survivor!!
Have fun in Florida Jenna... we will keep all the cold here lol

    ReplyDelete
  68. I hope he stays and plays. We won't find out until next week, though, and I work....crap!! I can watch when I get home, I guess. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well, I hope he doesn't give up on his dream and quit. Sorry that I missed half the party. Will see you all next week.

Have a good week and weekend. Thanks Jackie!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Night all!! See you next week

    ReplyDelete
