The Amazing Race 31 - Episode 2 Blog Party
That's quite the start we got off to last week! I remain surprised that Rupert and Laura squeaked through to the mat. Will they be able to do it again this week? I was even more surprised a previous TAR team was Philiminated. Was I surprised that the leading teams to the mat were previous TAR teams? Nope. Unfortunately, Art and JJ, although good people, were the weakest returning team. Now the BB and Survivor folks just have the tougher ones against them.
I'll be live blogging the main events and constantly updating this entry as the show airs here on the East Coast. Refresh the page to get the latest happenings! As always, the real party is in the comments -- feel free to join in on the fun!
Lifeguard SueGee was kind enough to open the gate for stragglers and re-shuffle the blog pool to reassign the first boot folks. So, here's the latest blog pool update going into tonight --
From Big Brother:
Rachel & Elissa - Delee, Nickelpeed
Nicole & Victor - Jackie, Jennifer, Jenna G (obviously the J Crew!)
Janelle & Britney - Donna in FL, David, Monty924
From Survivor:
Rupert & Laura - Brian, JonMD1267
Corinne & Eliza - Dr_Celine, Caela, Willie J
Chris & Bret - Paula B, Megan in NC, SueGee
From TAR:
Colin & Christie - Donna NY, Petals
Becca & Floyd - Merrilee, Judi Sweeney, Glenn Allen
Leo & Jamal - Kelsey NY, Indiana Jane, Cheryl in NC
Tyler & Korey - Sharon N, Ed in Ohio
Philiminated:
Art & JJ
Where will we be racing to tonight? Let's go!
They're heading to Laos next. Colin tells us he's grown since last on the show 15 years ago. We'll be the judge of that.
Rachel/Elissa have a failed attempt to work with Team Fun (Becca/Floyd). The Survivor teams drift to each other and are all on the same flight.
The teams have to "give back" to the Monks. But there is a waiting period. Corinne/Eliza have a bit of run-in with the Afghanimals and find out they're not Team Fun.
Teams make their way on foot to the next clue and encounter a Double U-Turn. Rachel thinks they really need to U-Turn someone while the Nicole/Victor don't see the need. Then we go to commercial.
GAH! She U-Turns Team Fun because they wouldn't work with her.
Detour has them memorizing the Lao alphabet or prepare barbeque.
Team Fun U-Turned Tyler and Korey. They did it mainly on the suggestion of the Afghanimals who didn't want the blood on their hands.
The alphabet is very tonal which is hard and the BBQ has them getting the ingredients which might be harder than cooking them!
Upon completion of the Detour, they're off to Elephant River. Heh. Elissa has to tell Rachel to calm down. Rupert finished the alphabet and claimed, "We did something!" He was proud. Team Fun finished both Detours and are ahead of many of the teams who had only one to do.
Roadblock - The Afghanimals make it first. They must use Lao commands to make an elephant cross a river, then find a musician on the other side. Nicole and Victor are second. Nicole is thrilled to be on the elephant!
They head to the Pit Stop by boat and Phil said MAY be eliminated. It's Victor/Nicole and the Afghanimals in the lead.
Pit Stop order
1. Leo/Jamal - won $2500 each
2. Nicole/Victor
Rupert is having elephant trouble despite he claims that's his soul animal
Wow the teams coming in one after another.
I can't keep up with it.
Both teams with U-Turns are safe.
Last to arrive are Rupert/Laura -- Philiminated
I'm surprised they didn't go last week.
Hi all, another fun hour with friends!!
ReplyDeleteHere we go again! So fun! Thanks for throwing me in the pool! Love Nicole and Victor, they are so cute.
ReplyDeleteYes they are!!
DeleteYay, Party Part II
ReplyDeleteKCMO in da house, representin! lol
ReplyDeleteHey everyone!
Yay, Party Part II
ReplyDeleteHi every one! Thank you Jackie. You are one in a million.
ReplyDeleteNow, if Rupert and Laura want to make up for last week, they need to get their butts moving.
I like these 2 dudes, the Afghanimals. LOL
ReplyDeleteHi all! The wine selection has been replenished! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMy sweet friend is Louse... she taught me how to count to ten and said I got the accent perfect!!
ReplyDeleteI know handicapped people have played Survivor, but has anyone handicapped played TAR?
ReplyDeleteShe really should have more collagen shot into her lips - Elissa. They aren't plump enough! @@
ReplyDeleteLol my 13 year old son said that girl has plastic surgery duck lips!
DeleteHahaha!!!!
DeleteAww, Becca and Floyd working with Rachel/Elissa. Maybe not, LOL
ReplyDeleteWell, we'll see how long it takes Rachel to get mad at her sister. LOL
ReplyDeleteThey are my pool pick, but I absolutely love Nicole and Vic. Also like Becca and Floyd.
Now, Corrine and Eliza, I do not care for at all.
ReplyDeleteWhat? An immunity idol? Come on Rupert. Really???
ReplyDeleteLOL, Jenna, that's funny. Tell him he's probably right.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Jenna! They are :))))
ReplyDeleteLOL Jenna! Even kids can tell! bwhahahaaa To be fair, the Rachel sisters had those big, fake lips before any Housewives or Kardashians. So...
ReplyDeleteLike Janey had those curves before Kim K did, you know? Big Brother, ahead of the ... curve. LOL
ReplyDeleteLol, very true!
DeleteJumping in and out tonight.........
ReplyDeletePetals - A dwarf was on once, an Asperger's Syndrome guy, one (maybe two different) one-legged people with prosthetic legs -- I'm thinking a guy and a girl, separate years.
ReplyDeleteMy son has Aspergers... it would be really intro see him do this!!
DeleteVery true Petals.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie - that is so cool. I hope they went far.
ReplyDeleteMy favs of the three shows, Janelle/Britney, Chris/Bret and Becca/Floyd
ReplyDeleteSquuueeeeg, you could get motion sickness, LOL. Be careful.
ReplyDeleteAnd the deaf guy and his Mom were on twice!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of those two!
DeletePracticing for my cruise....
ReplyDeleteLove the culture on The Amazing Race
ReplyDeleteMine: Janey/Brit, Afghanimals, and Mr & Mrs Rupert (altho I doubt they'll last)
ReplyDeleteDon't do it, Rachel.
ReplyDeleteI like Vicole as a couple, but this isnt their jam. IMO
ReplyDeleteI remember the girl whose arm was bit off by a shark being on
ReplyDeleteI vaguely remember the guy who had Asperger's but not any others. I didn't start watching TAR though until about ten or seasons in.
ReplyDeletePetals - A deaf young man ...
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. I remember her too, SueGee. She was one tough competitor.
ReplyDeleteYes, Sue. See, Petals … many more handicapped (per se) than on Survivor or BB!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has Aspergers. She wouldn't like this, but give her anything she can work with her hands, she's great. I'm thrilled she stayed with critters and plants. LOL
ReplyDeleteAww, NO!!
ReplyDeletere Bec & Floyd "Team Fun"?
ReplyDeleteDo you all remember that well tanned dentist couple Jim & Misti Raman? He died @ age 42 and his death is being investigated.
ReplyDeleteI have always like the parent/child teams too
ReplyDeleteHi Jackie and everyone! I hate I missed Survivor and late to this race, Thanks for getting me in pool. I got team fun.
ReplyDeleteI remember them Ed
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what just happend about the UTurn & the fun couple & animal couple
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they did that to Becca and Floyd! Darn it. Rachel and sister are my pick, but that's always bad luck to do that.
ReplyDeleteI am talking with my friend and told her I could totally do the alphabet with her tutoring me.... she laughed REALLY hard!!
ReplyDeleteJani/Brit cat fight, lOL
ReplyDeleteHi Glenn, was wondering where you were for Survivor. Team fun is always very fun!!! LOL>
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! NO WAY!!
ReplyDeleteThey will get you later Rachael...Karma will bite you and your sister
ReplyDeleteLOL Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer and Jenna, and SueGee and Petals and Monty and Penny. Hi Jennifer and Ed!
ReplyDeleteHi Glenn!!
DeleteI do, Ed! Wow, didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteawww, cute little kids.
ReplyDeleteToo early for U-Turns
ReplyDeletePetals they have to do both tasks before proceeding
Petals, they played on a season of strangers playing as teams. Trust me, they earned their nic with Team Fun. They just had a blast with every challenge. Love them.
ReplyDeleteHey Glenn
Oh this is going to be hard!
ReplyDeletethanks Sue (yikes!)
ReplyDeleteI would have given Corrine and Eliza the road block.
ReplyDeleteHi Glenn!
ReplyDeleteHi folks
ReplyDeleteHi Joe!
DeleteSure, Rachel, apologize...
ReplyDeleteJOEY!!!!!!!!! hi. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThis is some serious food prep!
ReplyDeletewere you at Coin?
ReplyDeleteHi Joe
ReplyDeleteRupert and Laura might have a hard time doing this.
ReplyDeleteDang, didn't want Corrine and ELiza to move ahead.
They did really well. Like the way her parter helped, smart.
ReplyDeleteMy pool team, the married couple, I don't see them together in 2yrs.
ReplyDeleteHi Joe!!!
ReplyDeleteOh no....
ReplyDeleteYAY animals!
ReplyDeleteYay for Nic and Vic!!! Yay Team Fun.
ReplyDeleteWant to watch Brit ride the elephant, lol
ReplyDeleteYes!!
DeleteThat was adorable
ReplyDeleteYay!! Team Fun
ReplyDeleteYay Team Rupert got it done!
ReplyDeleteThey are so fun! Love Becca and Floyd.
ReplyDeleteWow first try!
ReplyDeleteI've ridden an elephant several times, it is so special. The last one? I was loving and rubbing her forehead telling her how much I loved her and she reached-up her truck and grabbed my hand and held it! I cried for love! And didn't wash my and for hours (it was stinky, but it was elephant love). 🐘♥
ReplyDeleteOh that's adorable.
Delete❤️favorite animal!
DeleteThat's awesome Petals
ReplyDeleteThe Dude Abides.
ReplyDeletePetals - Colin and Christie the married couple? Is that who you mean? I don't think they're really married. I recall their bio saying soulmates or something like that. But, they've been together for more than fifteen years.
ReplyDeleteOh Monty. They look right in to your soul when you talk to them. If I won the Lottery, I'd open an elephant sanctuary and give them all the love in the world forever. (yeah, I realize I just sounded like a 9yr old)
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks Jackie. Yeah, them. They seem like an odd couple. Maybe that's why it works?
ReplyDeleteBest challenge ever! The elephants. I'd never finish, I'd be too busy loving the babies.
My Dad rode on an Elephant as a teenager. The man who started a Zoo in my town got a Elephant first and rode it through the woods and let people ride the elephant. The Owner of the Zoo became good friends with my Dad,
ReplyDeleteoh, Vic...that is love.
ReplyDeleteGlenn - so lucky!! ♥
ReplyDeleteLol Britney
ReplyDeleteLol... I love Britney
ReplyDeleteHi Petals.
ReplyDeleteYes, Junior Coin club with the kids.
Roll Tide (had to)
ReplyDeleteThis might be bad for Rupert and Laura.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do this.
Nic's elephant just loves to splash, sweet angel
ReplyDeleteCome on Nic and Vic!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if Mekong is that beautiful. Around it is beautiful!
Lol Rupert
ReplyDeleteElephants are such beautiful animals.
ReplyDeleteLOL Rupert!
ReplyDeleteRupert just didn't listen to how to give the commands
ReplyDeleteRupert still hasn't changed bull-headed
ReplyDeleteAlthough my ex-husband was on a horse is the Smokey Mountains that just did it's own thing too, LOL. The trail guide had to keep circling back to get him and the horse back in the line. :)))
ReplyDeleteWatching and listening to everyone on the elephants is so amazing and funny at the same time!
ReplyDeleteAgree Jenn!
ReplyDeleteI love how they train the elephants to respond to just commands there. The closest I've been to them was back when they had the Barnum & Bailey elephants come through the Midtown Tunnel and walk up 34th Street to Madison Square Garden in the city. They would do it around midnight and crowds would line the streets. Drivers would ask what was happening and everybody would shout "ELEPHANTS!" They would roll their windows back up and hit the gas thinking we were crazy. But it was the whole circus parade going through with clowns, horses and elephants -- they couldn't take the trains through the tunnels.
ReplyDeleteThis is so bad for Rupert.
ReplyDeleteOh no.
ReplyDeleteI don't get to watch the show until maybe tomorrow. Basketball is on here at 7:30
ReplyDeleteVicole do work well together... no screaming.
ReplyDeleteNicole is too gullible for TAR
ReplyDeleteWere they trying to trick Nic and Vic?
ReplyDeletebummer Squeeg
ReplyDeleteYay!!
ReplyDeleteGreat memories Jackie
ReplyDeleteafghanimals! YAY
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad. Trying everything to dupe the others. But, I guess that's the game.
ReplyDeleteYay Nicole and Vic team 2!
ReplyDeleteI bet Nicole smartens up pretty quickly
ReplyDeleteGood!! She learned her lesson!
ReplyDeletewow BB coming in strong.
ReplyDeleteLOve that a Uturn team made it.
ReplyDeleteNicole needs to smarten up. They couldn't have come in 1st. But...
ReplyDeleteI think this is it for Rupert and Laura.
I'm so sad....
ReplyDeleteawww, well. They got to meet elephants.
ReplyDeleteThe UTurn team will feel free to payback the team that turned them.........
ReplyDelete😭😭😭😭 Dang I didn't want to see them go yet!
ReplyDeleteI expected them to be first, but they got to run two legs of the race.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jackie!!
ReplyDeleteHe got a broken elephant. LOLOLOL
ReplyDeleteThank you Jackie!!! See everyone next week!!
Good night all! Thanks Jackie! Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jackie!! See you all next week!!
ReplyDeleteIs it too late to get into the pool pick. If not I'd love to be included. Thanks all who make this site possible. Sorry to see Rupert and wife go I love them.
DeleteThank you so much Jackie.
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong, but … weren't Becca and Floyd (Team Fun) strangers matched up that one season when the teams didn't know their partners?
ReplyDeleteGoodnight all! Have a wonderful week! Thankyou Jackie for giving us such a fun place to chat and enjoy our favorite shows!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for coming by!
ReplyDeleteYes, they were strangers. Cool, uh?
ReplyDeleteI thought so. I remember so many teams kind of failed that year, but they really clicked.
ReplyDeleteIt’s so cool that they clicked the way they did!
DeleteThanks Jackie for two hours of fun. See you all next week!!
ReplyDeleteYes, they were Jackie.
ReplyDeleteI hope AR continues to be shown after survivor and not moved to another day again. I like it this way.
ReplyDeleteTesting
