TV Newsy Bits - Thursday, January 11, 2006

It's Thursday and that means that a new episode of Ugly Betty is on tonight up against Armed and Famous (the second episode, also new). Not too hard a decision, eh? Ah, but then add NBC's My Name is Earl and The Office (both new episodes) to the mix and you just might have a dilemma!

At 9 PM ET/PT on ABC there's a new Grey's Anatomy and I'd like to remind everyone that we have a blog GA discussion post ongoing right here. I don't review or recap that one, but by popular request folks are welcome there to gather and discuss the latest or anything Grey's. Also in the 9 PM slot, a rerun of C.S.I. and new episodes of Scrubs and 30 Rock on NBC, as well as a new episode of The O.C. on FOX.

At 10 PM ET/PT CBS has a rerun of Shark while new episodes of Men in Trees and E.R. are airing on ABC and NBC.

In actual TV Newsy Bits today:
  • Our friends at BuddyTV have an exclusive interview with the recent Survivor 13: Cook Islands winner, Yul Kwon.
  • My HGTV contact told me that Jay Leno will be on Living with Ed this Sunday evening (10 PM ET/PT in most areas). The "Ed" in question, of course, is Ed Begley, Jr. He also shared a bit of Jay Leno/Ed Begley, Jr. trivia with me: "Jay Leno used to do stand-up with Ed back in the 1970s. When Jay heard Ed was doing a green show, he wanted Ed to see his new strides to become green. Jay is going to put a solar system in his shop in the next year. Jay also has several electric cars and a steam power engine, all technologies from the early 1900’s that are today being used again." It isn't easy being green (credit: Kermit), but the environment likes it!
  • For those who missed the news, actress Yvonne De Carlo, perhaps best remembered for her role as Lily Munster in The Munsters, died at the age of 84. She was a well-known (and beautiful) movie star prior to the series playing such roles as the wife of Moses in The Ten Commandments.
  • Celebrity Spider has linked some of the preview clips for the 24 premiere.
  • Armed and Famous Gives Muncie Police Department Surprise Thank You Gift

Hey J -- Did you see Rosie on the View today give a huge reccomendation to Armed and Famous? She said that Jack Osbourne was the most normal of all of them and that cracked me up because I totally know what she means, not even having watched the show. In order to carry tasers, each had to agree to be shot with it themselves. I gues there's 2 ways to do it -- to have a needle shot from a few feet into you, or to just have the wires touch you and recieve the shock. Erik Estrada chose the latter and wailed like he was delivering twins. While one of the "famous people, a blonde in her late 20's who I have never seen before, got it shot into her (which is a stronger jolt) and barely made a peep! Wonder if LaToya Jackson did it and what her reaction was. LOL Cheesy TV that is :-)

Friday Night Lights came on last night as well, in it's new Wednesday Night spot...go figure!

Speaking of figures, a fond darewell to the glamorous Mrs. Munster.

Sydney - I was at work during The View, so missed it. But I watched Armed and Famous last night. I taped tonight's while watching Ugly Betty. LaToya is the oddest of them all while Jack Osbourne is really doing well. LaToya almost fainted with the taser while the female wrestler/roller derby whatever she is did fine.

In the article I posted at the end of this entry, it was mentioned that the Muncie Police offered Osbourne a real job with them. He didn't want to relocate, but asked if he could have a recommendation for a Los Angeles area police academy from them. Very strange, eh?

LaToya only needed a cat held in front of her....LOL....at least she mellowed with a therapist's help. Jack O hope he would pass the drug test...IMAO! That is such a strange show. Still wonder how much is set up. Would they really put them in danger?

Saw the Survivor preview on CBS tis AM..starts 08Feb.

Watched Ugly Betty lasy night and I so love that show! As I think I said before,I am such a fan of America Ferrara and I think she is great. The rest of the cast is over the top and play right into the craziness.

Grey's was sooo sad, what with George's father and all but, glad to see Izzy moving on and Karev getting his act together. I still think he and Izzy are good together. The girl with the defroem back...how sad and how sad that there are people out there living that daily!Had to hop over to "Scrubs" as well, they still crack me up! Just wish they were on opposite something else.

Then had to hop from MIT and ER at 10.Now we all know that Marin has NOT given up on Jack, but ((WHY???)) is he even considering taking Lynn back????And now, will HAVE to stay tuned to ER next week, cause Abby & Luka's stalker is sitting in her apartment and she's there alone with the baby!! Forest Whittaker is so good in this role. I feel sorry for him but hate him for doing this!!

Still loving THUR on TV but toooo many choices to make.

Also on WED watched the new "Criminal Minds",glad that whatever changed and I got to watch this. I really like this show. And how scary was the premise, the way perps can find their victims???

Jackie I was at Barnes and Noble today and their buy one get one free sale for any TV show boxed sets goes on til 1/30. If you are a member -- you get your 10% off first, then whatever one of the boxed sets is AFTER that then you get the second free.... so $59.00 sets become about $54.00 (many have 10% off stickers already, so with the membershop you get an ADDITIONAL 10% off - that's about $49) and the second boxed set cost ZERO. I broke down and bought That Girl's first season and the third season of Nip Tuck and in the process saved about $50! Just thought folks might want to know!

I saw Mary Tyler Moore's and the full set of Homicide and with a 15 % off sticker the first season on SNL... I totally thought of you!
