The big announcement was that when it's time for the Final 6, there will be a huge star-studded charity benefit, voting proceeds, etc., going to help poverty victims in Africa and America. Bono is involved with many others.

I am sooooo glad Antonella is gone. She didn't belong there. No worries though, I've heard she got plenty of offers to do "other" things. Thanks for blogging Jackie, I just can't seem to get into it this year. Maybe I'll watch after they finish weeding everyone out.
I called Jared, Antonella & Sabrina. I was very shocked that Sanjaya stayed & Sundance left. I didn't really care for either of them and I don't think Sanjaya will last very long. I'm just thrilled that I don't have to hear Sabrina or see Antonella anymore!

I disagree - I'd rather have Haley gone than Sabrina. At least Melinda and Lakisha are still there.
I'm so happy with the top 12 this season! It's starting off just like Season 3 when my favorite idol Fantasia won. Sanjaya should've went home, but as long as all my girls made it I'm happy.
Did Ryan mess up? I thought Sanjaya was out and next thing I know Sundance was singing.
I'm underwhelmed with their big announcement. This is "American" Idol, as they keep reminding us.
American kids singing, American kids voting, shown on American television, with American dollars buying the winners records. Then why isn't all the money going to American people?
Yes, there is no doubt Africa is certainly needy. But so are people right here in our country.
There are people who've lost their homes to disaster, or because they can't pay their bills due to illness, lost jobs, etc. Seniors who can't afford medicine, mothers who can't afford enough food for children, veterans who risked their lives for this country that are in squalor in their own VA hositals, soliders whose families are suffering finacially while they are off defending our country, and homeless people in every city. I'm sure they could have found enough worthwhile charities to give the money to here in the US.

I hear you on that one. Katrina is old news, mostly, no offense. But needs are still huge there. Hollywood sets these standards. Jolie and others adopting foreign children...Oprah's African school, on and on. Not that any of these things are bad. But Idol should have dedicated $ raised to a home cause, not for foreign shores.
I will not vote that week. I bet a lot of parents will be shocked when their cell/phone bills come in.
Just watched the end of AI again...they will be helping in the USA with their $$$ take.... so

I am so glad that we are down to the final 12 and we no longer have to see boys only shows. Those were so boring. I had a very difficult time keeping my eyes open through them. Now if Sanjaya would just leave.

Delee -- They're helping in Africa and America. Ryan & Simon went to Africa to see the villages and the children, Randy & Paula are going to Louisiana to see the Katrina relief efforts.
I totally agree with Anon 11:28. We have plenty going on in this country and this is AMERICAN Idol. I'm all for helping other countries, but let's take care of our own first.
Anon 9:15 -- I didn't say that I liked Haley, I just didn't care for Sabrina. I really wanted Haley, Sabrina & Antonella gone but they only voted 2 off this week. Sabrina sounded like she was screaming every week and Haley is just too happy for me. She needs a toddler show on Disney channel :)
