'Survivor 14: Fiji' - Ep. 4 -or- "Pretty in Pink"

Is Ravu going to ever win anything? Ever?

Sixteen are left. Who will be voted out tonight?

After the inevitable recap, the show opened with Ravu returning from the last Tribal Council after voting out Sylvia. James/Boston/Rocky was being a drama queen about it all (especially in light of what happened later in the show). He wanted to straighten everyone out, darn it all!

Most of his venom was taken out on Anthony who seems to have some issues of his own and doesn't need the Wrath of Rocky upon him. Apparently Rocky thinks that Anthony whines too much and irritates him. Anthony, in a confessional, started crying while saying he was always picked on in school and has low self-esteem issues. Oh, geez. At least he's determined not to give up.

The Moto tribe, even though they're living the life of luxury and have won every challenge so far, has its own issues. Gary is getting increasingly more ill as time goes on. Although she had a point, Lisi was unduly harsh in confessionals, saying she didn't want to babysit him -- if he's sick, he should leave. Cassandra was more worried about his health than how his sickness would affect the tribe.

The Reward Challenge had the tribes each line up on balance beams over water. One by one from the far end, the tribe members had to cross the beam to the other side going around their tribemates. The traveling member could only touch one tribemate at a time, no using two to balance. They could change their order by jumping in. They were playing for rice, lots of fish, spices, pillows, blankets, and a king-sized bed. The winning tribe would also choose to send a losing tribe member to Exile Island.

Once again, Moto won. They sent Yau-Man off to Exile Island where he found the latest clue to one of the two hidden Immunity Idols we're to see this season. With the first three clues and the latest, he determined that the idol is hidden right at the entrance to the cave at the camp. He feels he really needs it, but is worried about how to be there alone to dig for it.

Moto loves their new bed, filled their already full tummies, and declared the world "Motolicious!"

Oh, but over at Ravu, it was a totally different scene. Rocky was throwing a temper tantrum which would put a 2-year-old child to shame, throwing things, fussing and cussing. Again, he blamed Anthony. Earl spoke with Anthony telling him not to worry -- while Rocky was quick to lay the blame, he doesn't do much of anything around the camp but fuss. Anthony decided he'd ignore Rocky and it would end up Rocky being the one who looked bad.

Then the Gary situation grew to crisis at the Moto camp. He ended up being flown away and dropping out of the show. I'm not really surprised. He's older than most and wasn't in good shape at all. His tribemates really seem to like him, but at least now Lisi won't have to worry about babysitting him. The more I see her, the more catty she comes across to me.

As the tree mail telling of the upcoming Immunity Challenge arrives, James decided to try a different approach... a naked one. Oh, geez. (I think I'll say that every time I get annoyed by James/Rocky/Boston/Whatever.) He's way too skinny
James Dressed to Kill to even think he looked anything but pitiful! He then dons a pink bikini top which belonged to one of the girls and put coconuts in it for a full figure. (Can you hear me rolling my eyes?) He claims he wants to get people fired-up to win. Yeah, right.

The Immunity Challenge was indeed challenging... and no puzzles! Oh, there were boats. lily pads, tribe members in locked cages, and more. They had to retrieve keys, release each tribe member from the cages jumping or slithering across lily pads, get back to shore, make a human pyramid, and release the last member of the tribe. Woohoo! Before it all started, Jeff held up a sealed bottle and said the winning tribe would read the letter within after the competition.
Immunity Challenge Cages
Although they fell behind early, Ravu made an astonishing comeback, almost catching up to Moto. Is this it? Is this their time to actually win something for the first time this season? Nope. Moto pulled it off and won.

Ah, but did they really win? Within the bottle was a new twist to the game. They had the choice to keep Immunity, but move to the Ravu camp. (Ravu got perky over that one!) If they want to remain in the luxury camp, they have to give Ravu Immunity and vote one of their own off at Tribal Council. They just couldn't bear to give up their camp, so thought they'd lose a second member (remember, Gary went) rather than their beloved home. So, Ravu finally got Immunity, but didn't break their losing streak.
Immunity Challenge
The claws came out at Moto upon their return to camp. Dreamz brazenly announced that everyone should agree either Cassandra or Lisi should go home as they're the weakest members of the tribe. Cassandra was shocked; Lisi was ticked. Dreamz said, "I'm not pointing fingers, but it obvious that Cassandra or Lisi should go." Say what? He said that in front of them, too.

The other members talked sans Dreamz and most thought it should be either Cassandra or Liliana. Now, Liliana is the strongest woman there. I don't think that makes much sense. I personally thought if they wanted to vote off a physically strong member, go for Dreamz. He rubs a lot of folks the wrong way.

At Tribal Council, Lisi spoke up against Dreamz's power play at camp. Cassandra told Liliana how strong she is and how much she loved her. Liliana said she thought highly of Cassandra, too... then became the sole vote to oust Cassandra. Cassandra voted for Lisi to leave (yes!), but all of the rest voted out Liliana.

"Liliana, the tribe has spoken."

In a bit of a sidenote -- my photo turned out fuzzy and unusable, but wasn't the snake creepy? I'm assuming it couldn't giving birth to a new snake in that manner. Maybe it was regurgitating a snake. It definitely wasn't just shedding its skin, not with eyes and jaws on the old skin. I guess I'm going to have to research snakes now.

Jackie, that whole snake thing was not only creepy it was a little on the gross side. My son (7) completely freaked out. I didn't know what to tell him. Anyway, Ravu needs to win something to boost their confidence. I hope they can pull a win off soon. I actually prefer that team over Moto. They are at least really trying to "survive". Thanks for the recap. You're awesome.

If someone is waiting for the opportunity to secretly dig for the immunity idol, it's not gonna happen. It's probably down a couple of feet too! Eventually someone is going to have to just start digging in earnest. Bystanders will probably join in the digging and it will become a race to whichever person gets there first.

Don't like Lisi...she is one of the snakes Dreamz was talking about. Liliana was in the Marines and served in Iraq...she is a strong player and has worked with handicapped children...a quality person. At 36 Lisi seems to have spent her life as a drifter not accomplishing much...but she has learned how to be a manipulator. Her attitude toward Gary was snarky...she doesn't want to be a "babysitter"...I doubt anyone would trust her to watch over anyone...she's clearly all about herself. I hope she get's the boot soon. As for Gary, he was not in condition to play. He was in the luxury camp and couldn't make it...can you imagine if he was with Ravu? I thought it telling that Moto would rather turn on one of their own than give up their luxuries. Some Survivors...I hope none of them win. That are at a spa!

Yeah, 36 year old Lisi is a "customer service rep" for a psychic company...now there's an accomplishment when you're closing in on 40. 25 year old Liliana served as a marine for eight years! She was buff and strong...why do the Survivors (and for Moto I use the term loosely) always eat the strongest. Lisi just wanted to get rid of the competition when she had the chance. On the MSNBC web site they rightly said why doesn't Survivor just book a hotel room for Moto.

With all due respect to Cassandra - who seemed like a really nice person - you'd have to be nuts not to pick her over someone who had just finished eight years in the Marines and who even the guys admit was physically their equal. And apparently the way that she earned Lisi's emnity was by being too "flirty" with the guys. Given all of Lisi's behaviour in this episode I really want someone to take her down a peg or five, and her little puppet Stacy too.

Hi all!

OK, the snake thing creeped me out! First, I don't like snakes in the best of circumstances. Second, yuk!!! Aagghhh!

I definitely found my first "Survivor" to totally dislike this season! Lisi is on my last nerve. Don't like her a bit, and want to see her go home. ASAP. Tonight would have been perfect.

Rocky / Boston / whoever is also on my hit list. Could not believe how huffy he got during the immunity challenge, and he certainly did nothing to set them up to be successful. And he needs to keep his clothes on. Please.

Dreamz / Dre might want to reign it in a bit if he plans to stick around more than another week or so. May be a bit too outspoken for his own good...

I felt so sorry for Papa Smurf. He really seemed out of it, and his health was definitely more important than sticking around without food, water, rest, etc. I have a condition called menieres disease, and his nausea and vertigo sounded so much like an episode with that. I can tell you it is miserable!

All in all, not a bad show! :)

Personalities are beginning to emerge, and those true colors are not always pretty. ha

OOOOOOOH that snake...glad I was not eating!!!! The bed is great, but what happens when they have a tropical rainstorm. At least Moto would have had a cave to shove it under!!!

Info sea snakes...some lay eggs, others live birth..they are not inclined to bite humans (lol). So whatever that was---was just plain gross.

Sad about Papa Smurf, but he is overweight and older...he might have done better on Ravu, instead of luxury and food on Moto. Weight loss. His blood pressure was not bad 124/84, so that was not causing the problem.

Jackie, use the @@'s miss em from Big Bro. :-)

Personalities are coming out and making it interesting...some need to back off or they will see the lonely walk and snuffing of their torch!!!!

I could not believe they voted Liliana out! They are getting way too big for their britches if they think they can afford to vote strong people off.And I just have to join the "Don't like Lisi" club.I have not liked her from day 1.And,Jackie,"catty" was the perfect word for her. She hated that Lili had some "sex appeal" to use, unlike herself!Cassandra is a nice "lady" but of no use in the challenges. And you know what bugs me,that they get to keep sitting the same people out challenge after challenge. Papa Smurf,Lisi or Cassandra every time. To make it more interesting, the other tribe should get to pick who sits out and it should have to be a different one every time!!

I am so sad for RAVU,each time they manage to shoot themselves in the foot. It would probably feel better if they lost by a mile, but it's always just inches. And unlike some of you,I don't like Anthony and think he is a weak link. Rocky, obviously, has never known deprivation in his life, because he is not handling it well and he's acting out of frustration. It's getting better, but still hate that they are starving.

That snake was GROSS. I had to turn away,I hate snakes and that was way too graffic for me! UGH!!Kinda resembled Lisi,no?

I'm with Sharon...Lisi is a snake...was sad to see Liliana go...one of the best and strongest players. Good Gary left..health more important than the game...but he was a good player in the food competition last week. He did his best. Didn't like Lisi's mean attitude about him...hope her teammates see what a manipulator she is and that she doesn't bring much to the table. As their numbers dwindle they may wake up. Hope Ravu and pull it together...otherwise the show will become a snore to watch Moto luxuriate in their camp...interesting they preferred to keep it rather than a person...and everyone seemed to be in agreement...all the hands went up. These are not the Survivors from yesteryear for sure.

I'd like to hear what people think of the keep the luxury home and lose a teammate vs roughing it for a night and keeping the team intact. Did they make the decision because they didn't want the other team to stay in their camp and get to eat and get stronger? It seemed like a bad move, since they were concerned about numbers. Also, I am amazed not to hear anyone talk of Lisi's remark about Lilianna that was more racist than just catty. It just isn't any fun to watch one team get beaten down more every week and watch the others gain weight and celebrate. In fact, the episodes are leaving me a little depressed instead of energized. Thanks Jackie, Sue

Does anyone know why cbs morning does not interview the survivor that is voted off. It did before. Thanks

I was wondering the same thing, also, none of TAR's eliminated teams. What's up with that?

Anonymous said...

Guess nothing's more important than Anna Nicole, eh?

Sydney said...

Think they would get good rating from showing the competitors on TAR/Survivor but I think there is a ratings thing and image change going on. Here, CBS morning show is only an hour to Today and GMA's 2, and now Today is going 3 hours... so maybe CBS has to have a different tack in what they put on air in that shortest slot to keep up? They have lost one of their anchors and there's been a definite wardrobe change in the other....

You'd think more folks would tune in TO see Survivor adn TAR folks...

Hey Sue,

I also found it amazing that they were willing to lose a member vs lose their camp. So much for that big sense of "team", eh??

Lisi's comment was definitely racial, and she was profiling even while admitting she was from the same race. Negative. Catty. Just not anyone that I would want to spend any time with.

Let's all start a new AnybodyButLisi campaign...

I am not feeling it with the new twist, either. Makes things just a bit too predictable, which is never good on Survivor. I also have not yet found anyone to root for to go all the way. I am personally feeling a bit ambivalent toward the majority, but have found a few that are really on my nerves.

Looking forward to things getting better soon!
