The Amazing Race - 11/29/09 Episode Blog Party Post

I think the show is delayed slightly here -- I wasn't watching 60 Minutes, so I'm not sure.

As it airs here on the East Coast, I'll update any major happenings in this entry. However, the real fun (and most of the information) will be in the comments. Everyone is welcome to join in. My actual show review will be posted over on TV Squad sometime late tonight.

Okay, 8:04 PM ET and we're starting.

Brian and Ericka got through their (easy) speed bump and passed out the slowest team (Globetrotters) at a roadblock. The Globetrotters chose to take a four-hour penalty in lieu of completing the roadblock. Big Easy couldn't unscramble five letters to spell "Franz."

Pit Stop
1. Megan and Cheyne - each won a 52" TV
2. Sam and Dan
3. Brian and Ericka

Instead of doing the next task, the Globetrotters were sent to the Pit Stop where they got Philiminated.

Wondered if you were napping Hey Jackie

Becky said...

Hey, Jackie and Delee. I thought that perhaps she was heating up and eating TG left overs. We finished all but the turkey last night.

Lisanne said...

Yeah! no game delays tonight!

Now if I could just figure out who to cheer for.

Becky said...

I can't believe they gave the married couple a speed bump. I just wouldn't be good at any of these reality games. I am just not heartless enough, even for a lot of money.

Delee said...

I think that is the one they have to do because they came in last ????

Becky said...

I hope the brother gets so flustered that he gets crazy.

Oh, was the speed bump the one earned for coming in last?

Delee said...

WOW he has to use a magnifying glass to read those letters...they are not that small

Delee said...

At least they are not in underwear like last season HAHA

Delee said...

can not wait to hear her WHINE not

Becky said...

I would freeze my tush off. I live in a hot climate and just don't do well in real cold.

Margo said...

What was the clue? Do they know it is Kafka's name?

Becky said...

Another team screwed by the brothers! I was hoping that everyone would catch up and pass them. I am pulling for the married couple and the GT, only because I do not care for the daters and can't stand the brothers.

Donna in FL said...

I read somewhere that Jordan and Jeff from Big Brother were on the next season of Amazing Race that just beagn filming! Did anyone else hear that? Jackie?

Sydney said...

AK -- I'm here, I'm here... Been wrapping stocking stuffers while I watch so didn't get to the computer. I don't like the brothers and I have them in the pool.
I used to like the globetrotters but ever since the slide incident they have been going down on my like-o-meter...

But it was not nice what the brother did when they were working together on the letters... Yes it was smart, but he could at least have said starts with F ends with Z?

Delee said...

Spoiler

Supposedly true but that is a spoiler needed an ALERT SPOILER

Jackie S. said...

Nothing confirmed on Jeff and Jordan -- they were photographed with matching blue shirts and backpacks at LAX. No mention of other teams sighted.

Delee said...

Ouch a 4 hour penalty they are out!

There has been only one Fast Forward so far?

joy n said...

At this point in the race these guys are nuts to take a four hour penalty.

Becky said...

I am pulling more for the married couple because I know the GT make a lot of money. Yes, it is the challange of the game, but I like to see someone who can use the money get it.

Margo said...

OK I'm Christmasy now too

Lisanne said...

Ok, 5 letters there are only so many combinations, especially when you know the first letter. (I know there is a mathematical equation for it, but its too late for me to remember it. :)

Giving up? maybe it will be one of those "you're not done racing" legs.

Donna in FL said...

The GT would have been better off to keep trying to get the word than to take such a large penalty especially since they knew they were the last ones there.

joy n said...

Phil said earlier that there would only be one FF this season and it was done.

This late in the game, I don't blame the brothers for not telling anyone the word (name). Doubt GTs would have reciprocated no matter what they say.

Delee said...

Now that is a prize 52" lcd tv

joy n said...

Like them or not, Meghan and Cheyne deserve to be in the final three.

Sydney said...

such charming boys...

Sydney said...

Joy- you took the words right out of my mouth, verbatim about Cheyne and Meghan

Delee said...

She would never be able to do the other one LOL

joy n said...

How many times now has Ericka said she's not willing to make it work?

I do think she's right, tho, and they should go for the other detour.

Becky said...

You know, I really don't like ANY of the teams left! The one brother whines more than the blond, who whines a lot, the married woman is horrible to the man, the GT are closer than being likable.

Becky said...

At least they all waited until the end of the season to become so unlikeable! LOL

joy n said...

Another team would really have to screw up BADLY to keep the GT's in this race. Then again, that could happen, I guess.

Delee said...

I agree Becky not really rooting for anyone now.

Ericka must have been a great Miss America yuck what a mouth

Laurie said...

Hi everyone, I'm sliding in late but I'm here. My Chargers won today 14-43 at home against KC Chiefs. I know, you don't care but ... it makes me so happy!!

Delee said...

Ericka and Brian sure got lucky...and took all night for them ureal

joy n said...

Not looking good for the Globetrotters.

It appears they are out.

Becky said...

Good. Hate to see the GT leave, but glad the married couple is there.

Delee said...

Goodnight all...Thanks Jackie

joy n said...

I can't believe they just quit like that.

Delee said...

I agree at least keep trying to make the word he had the letters.

Laurie said...

Margo, your avatar made me laugh out loud. That is so NOT you!

I'm rooting for Meghan and Cheyne only because that are from San Diego and a friend of mine knows them and says they are actually very nice people from good families.

Of course I haven't seen the show yet but I am shocked the GTs would take a 4 hour penalty. Someone else really has to screw it up to keep them in the game. It's okay with me if they leave, but I'd rather see Miss America get the boot! She annoys me more than anyone else in the game.

Delee said...

VEGAS ladies LOL

joy n said...

Brian and Ericka drive me nuts, mostly her. What an ambassador she is for our country.

The brothers are beyond irritating.

IMO Cheyne and Meghan are playing the best. I'm rooting for them.

Finale next week!

Margo said...

Is this more me?

Margo

Becky said...

I will catch you all later. Thanks, Jackie.

BE SURE AND POST YOUR APPRECIATION ON THE TV SQUAD.

Jackie, I couldn't get it to post last time.

joy n said...

I just realized that Meghan and Cheyne came in first 6 times. Weeks 1,5,6,9,10, and tonight.

Sam and Dan twice, weeks 4 and 7.

Brian and Ericka have never come in first.

joy n said...

In case anyone's wondering, Gary and Matt came in first on the second show and The GT's came in first on the 3rd and 8th shows.

$ HOUR PEM said...

Those Ediots took a four hour penalty!?!?!?!?

LOSERS, THERE OUT!!!!!!

Laurie said...

Margo, yes, much more you!

Joyn, I think M&C are unbeatable at this point. It's theirs to lose at this point.

ML said...

From the first episode I thought Meghan & Cheynne worked together and got along impressively well. They looked too good to be true. I have to say other than Cheynne's attitude and behavior toward Meghan at the hay bale thing (and the fact that his hair looks perfectly coiffed at all times even more than Miss America) they are a cooperative couple, and a very well oiled TAR machine! I am not surprised nor disappointed that they have dominated this race. I hope they do the same in the final leg and win the million.

The one brother Sam(?) whines and complains incessantly and Miss America is constantly negative. Big Easy has consistently failed at any tasks even remotely intellectual (remember the phone combination?). It would have taken him less time to go methodically thru each possible combination than take the 4 hour penalty. Why didn't Flight Time do it instead in the first place? I agree with Sydney anyway; since the water slide taunting of Mika, the GT have not impressed me.

Vegas should be fun, but I'm actually looking more forward to seeing Survivor with you all on Thursday!

I'd torn a ligament (have no idea how) but it's improving. I have to wear shoes all the time until it heals completely and I am definitely a barefoot kind of girl around the house so that bugs me.

Today is turkey day for us. Hubby had to work and my foot wasn't doing so good on Thursday.

Can't wait for the finale of TAR. I wasn't too sorry to see the GT's go. Especially didn't like the knockdown and threat of more to come.

AlbGlinka said...

The bros are cute. There, I've said it!

I LOLed at Miss America getting feisty with all the Prague drunks. that was one of the funniest scenes of the season.

I don't think professional atheletes such as the GTs should be on this show, even though hey were likeable.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving...

This is very Amazing reality television game show in which teams of two people who have some form of a preexisting personal relationship, race around the world in competition with other teams.I like very much.

joy n said...

Really good interview with the GTs on RealityTVWorld. They're not at all peeved with the bros. Even said not giving them "Franz" was a good strategic move.

One little point of doubt in their interview is when they said they would have given Dan the clue. Doubt because they claim that when they got to the next challenge (the stone things) they would have physically beaten the bros at that challenge and pulled ahead. That part is probably true, but at that time they didn't have that clue and couldn't have known what was coming next. And since they are equally as competitive as the bros, I just can't see them giving the bros ANY help either.

Other than that, a really good interview. Oh, and they said they were there a total of 7 1/2 hrs.

Anonymous said...

joyN, sorry about your foot/? ligament. I hope it is much better by now. I agree witht he shoes in the house, I don't feel right wearing them!

Albglinka...The one with blue eyes is cute. I can't get past the cranky in the other one to see his looks. The Prague drunks made me curious. I thought they were part of the challenge and plants from TAR, but Ericka and hubby didn't see it that way, so I must have been wrong.

I expect the couple to be first, 2nd the brothers and third the Miss who is a Mrs. If the finale doesn't end that way, I will be surprised...and that would add some excitment, wouldn't it.

Survivor's on. Jackie must have fallen asleep or something. Hope she's okay.

suich said...

Yikes! Hope everything's ok, too, joy n. I don't remember this every happening before!

monty924 said...

I was thinking the same thing, Joy. Hope everything is alright with Jackie

Delee said...

I am sure she is just held up either from weather-work or maybe a stoppage of the train. At least I hope so!

joy n said...

I don't remember it ever happening before.

Delee said...

Jackie has been up to 10 minutes late before but never this late! Hope we hear from her soon!

joy n said...

Shambo's getting a little too big for her britches. Every time someone tees her off, she wants them gone. That may bite her in the butt down the line.

Jackie has to write her post for TV Squad too. Man, I hope she just fell asleep.

joy n said...

Come to think of it, if Shambo is taken to the finals, everyone she voted out will not vote for her to win. She's not playing smart at all.

monty924 said...

Russell did it yet again. He had some great one-liners tonight.

Jackie, hope every is okay!

joy n said...

Yes, Jackie, please let us know as soon as you're able that you're okay.

Where oh where can Ms. Jackie be? Where oh where can she be? Hello? Hello? Ms. Jackie? Where are you?...
Vincent, did you eat Ms. Jackie? (You know what they say about old women who lives with cats?) Vincent, you better not be hanging with Roofus. It is way too cold outside for an old woman with bad knees to be looking for you, young man!! Now put Ms. Jackie on!!!!

I so missed you tonite.

NOTE FROM JACKIE (via Syd)

Had computer problems, oy. (that oy was mine, not hers). She is alive, and so is Vincent, so no need to worry. Her computers however are not. And neither is one little mouse that found it's way into her apartment and the playful paws of Mr. V the white kitty, who did his job and chased it, flopped it etc...

It's' been quite a night for Jackie. She has been tinkering with old and new computers in her house, and trying to put in parts and reboot things and such... but her TV squad stuff is due so if you're all there, send some heavy prayers or technology vibes that everything is running again so she can type it up and get it in on time.... She will put up a new post when things get going... unless she stays up REALLY late, there might not be something here until tomorrow.

When we were hanging up, Vincent was sitting on her shoulders and she was finally going to eat some dinner, while the computer is hopefully at work mending itself.

Sleep tight all. Nothing to worry about here (collective sigh of relief!).

Vincent, good kitty! Behave yourself...

Donna in Alabama said...

Thanks for calling Syd. I heard on our local news NJ and other areas had power outages after high winds going up the coast.

Anonymous said...

Whew!! Thought I was going to have to scold Roofus!! He's teaching Vincent to be a hood rat after all!! Sorry little mousey!!!

Jackie, I am sure someone has an old DOS program you can install!! heehee Glad you are fairing well!!

Thanks Sydney.

Sydney said...

you're welcome Mamaroos... I hated to spoil it for you but you were asking so I hoped it wasn't spoiling, lol.

I think Russell's thing is going to catch up to him, and all will turn on Shambo the minute they can... but I also thought Russ would be gone in the first few weeks too....

Been a great season and I can't figure out why there are so many people left day 30.. are there more than usual or am I imagining it. I've seen every season so you;d THINK I knew.

Karen in Oregon said...

Syd I think there are alot left too. No you didn't spoil it at all.. like I said I have it taped and I always come and lurk while its on on the east coast since I am over here on the other side lol.. I hope russ goes next hes an a** Shambo may not make it to the end. I really like mick i think is his name... I am like you i get confused easily lol

I was disappointed to see the Globe Trotters give up. There are only so many combinations of five letters. He should have just tried every combination. Surely it could have occurred to him it was a name. He knew the first letter was F. Unfortunately I doubt they'd ever heard of Franz Kafka.

Jennasmom said...

Whew! Jackie, you had us worried. Glad you & Vincent are okay.

My DH and I noticed the young guy tonight & realized we didn't even know his name. Boy, he sure isn't getting any screen time at all.

I'm heading to sleep now. Supposed to be snowing here by a.m. Snow in South Texas! What will they think of next?

Becky said...

I never thought to come here to look for post from the group. I sat on Jackie's doorstep until I froze my booty off, holding a large container of hot chocolate. Finally drank the last of the chocolate and came home, disappointed the party was cancelled.

All joking aside, I am glad it was just computer problems at Jackie's. Jackie, it should warm your heart (more than my virtual hot chocolate) that you had so many people worrying about you.

joy n said...

So glad to hear that it was a mouse, Vincent and computer problems that kept you away, Jackie, and nothing to do with being sick or something. One change in your routine got a bunch of us in a tizzy. That's how important you are in our own routines. Survivor without Jackie was just not the same.

Again, very happy to hear all is well. Well, hopefully, with your computer, too. A cat and mouse! Who woulda thunk it?

EileenM said...

So glad you are OK Jackie! Well in the space of 5 days I have lost out on TAR and Survivor; 1st my pick for TAR, the Harlem Globetrotters, get booted and last night John, my pick on Survivor was gone. A well there is always next season. Good luck to all who remain and may the best couple/person win.

SueGee said...

too am glad to hear it was "only" computer problems! btdt Earlier this year when my (still under warranty) computer's video card went out. (it actually went out four times before I got one that is still working knock on wood) My dh was frantic because he had stuff up on e-Bay. Ended up buying a pretty nice laptop and realizing we are now bonded to our computers by blood. Hard to do online banking without a computer!

Jackie I hope you get up and running again soon. Not seeing a review up on TV Squad yet so I'm Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

And I hate to admit it, but Russell has grown on me and I am appreciating his strategy. But I am also impressed with my pool player Natalie! Strong woman!!

He mentions that the bros decision to not help the GTs was a good move that secured their spot in the final three.
