The Amazing Race: March 3, 2013 Blog Party

Oh my ... it looks like the father/son team have severe difficulties tonight. Apparently David (father) really did tear his Achilles tendon. They show him racing on crutches while we know that folks with two good legs have problems with many of the challenges. I really hope they make it as they're a team I truly enjoy watching. But I fear that if they don't go tonight, it's just a matter of time. Sigh.

As the show airs here on the East Coast, I'll update this post with the major happenings. Remember to refresh the page to get the latest! However, as always, the real fun is in the comments area. Come join us!

The teams are off to New Zealand. John and Jessica did indeed give David and Connor the Express Pass. Good. David's Achilles tendon is diagnosed as torn. He's planning on staying in the race as long as he can. All the teams are on the same plane to Auckland, NZ, then have to fly to Christchurch. Chuck and Winona screwed up and booked the last flight available.

Oh my gosh! Connor and Dave got the first jet boat reservation!

Detour - Rev it up -- drive ATVs to then race cars on a course or Reel it In -- catch one fish at least 12" long.

Dave and Connor use the Express Pass.

Roadblock - Who wants to keep their race from going to the dogs? They have to race to deliver eggs through a course with dogs. Molasses and feathers for free!

Dave and Connor are heading to the Pit Stop!

1. Dave and Connor -- Won a trip to Bangkok

The race is still going. Phil gives them their next clue. They're undecided whether they should continue with Dave's injury.

It ends there. Oh my. A cliffhanger!

Hey, Jackie. I am here and ready to watch.

Hi Jackie and Becky!!!!!

Jackie said...

Starting on time again tonight. We're going to get spoiled!

Becky said...

Hey, Penny. How is your brother?

Sharon S said...

I made it! I feel guilty though, I'm missing Genesis in The Bible.

Nickelpeed said...

Yep, he really described John perfectly. LOL

Becky said...

Sharon, I set my DVR so I can watch it later.

Nickelpeed said...

Thank you for asking Becky.

He's doing fine. He's been terribly tired. They changed his medicine. He has to be in the hospital for weeks, so I think the tiredness is more out of being bored than anything else.

Nickelpeed said...

The Bible show should be interesting. I'm DVring mine also. I'll watch it later.

Sharon S said...

I need to get a DVR. I'm usually on top of tech, but for some reason I've procrastinated the one thing that could really change my life (by letting me go to bed at a decent hour!).

Penny, glad to hear your brother is doing better. Sorry to hear he is stuck in the hospital though.

Becky said...

Penny, that is good news about your brother. Does he like to read?

Nickelpeed said...

Unfortunately, no, Becky. He has trouble holding things for a long period of time because he really doesn't have full capacity in them. He really wants to go home, but they won't let him because they do not think he'll heal properly.

Nickelpeed said...

oops, I should say full capacity in his arms and hands

Nickelpeed said...

That completely sucks for them. Why didn't the son do it?

Becky said...

Oh, darn! Father and son might be in trouble.

Joe in NY said...

Hi folks.

How's your brother, Penny?

Nickelpeed said...

LOL - these young ones are tooo dang funny. Duh?

Joe in NY said...

Never mind, just caught up. Glad to hear you brother is feeling better. If the hospital has wi-fi, you could get him a Kindle Fire and a video subscription (like $79 for the year) and he can watch old TV shows and movies whenever he wants.

Becky said...

Penny, how about a audio book?

Sharon S said...

At least she tried to learn how to drive stick.

Nickelpeed said...

Hi Joe, thank you for asking. Go up a few. Becky asked. It is so kind of you. You are all so wonderful. The prayers are helping him.

He's just so tired of being in the hospital. I just think he's better off there right now. He'll get the right supplies and care.

Becky said...

Smart move for F&S.

Nickelpeed said...

He has a computer. The one problem is, they have him on his sides so his bed sore will heal. They did a skin graft and do not want him to lay on it, so they have him on his sides all the time. They've been drugging him up (too much I think) so it won't be so hard on him.

Jackie said...

I can understand him being sick of the hospital, though. Poor guy ... my heart goes out to him.

Nickelpeed said...

I am glad the F/S took the express pass, also, Becky. I'm just wondering how it will affect them later on.

Becky said...

Hey, Joe. I have been meaning to ask you, what subject do you teach and what level?

Nickelpeed said...

Thank you, Jackie. Yeah, it is the pits for him; and he doesn't like the food. He's a picky eater, but at least my one brother and sister will bring him a favorite meal once a day. LOL

Becky said...

Penny, I hate they had to use the Express Pass, but at least they will win a leg and get a reward. At the rate the car drivers are going perhaps they will get a good lead time.

Nickelpeed said...

Speaking of school, isn't it kind of early for Spring Breaks this year??

Nickelpeed said...

Yeah, you are right, Becky. At least the father and son will get something good out of him and a head start on the next step.

SueGee said...

Howdy everyone! Better late than never I guess!!

Joe in NY said...

Becky, I teach college Chemistry

Becky said...

I thought they used the EP. Doesn't that mean you can go straight to check in.

Nickelpeed said...

This one is HILARIOUS!!!

SueGee said...

Congrats Joe - I work in the Chem Dept @ a major University but in the shops area. I sold lab glass for over 30 years before they closed my location.

Nickelpeed said...

Oh man, even my hockey players went in the wrong direction. :-(

Becky said...

I hate when teams start bickering. Joe, you must be one smart dude!

Jackie said...

Um. Well. I took college Chemistry and lived to tell the tale.

Becky said...

Isn't it funny the way time drags when you are waiting for a show to start and zips through when it arrives.

Nickelpeed said...

I just looked at how to use the express pass. It allows a team to skip the present task with no penalty. So, they so not skip directly to the pit stop unless it's the last task they use the EP on. SO, the F/S still had to do the very next challenge.

Becky said...

Thanks, Penny.

Jackie said...

Yeah. Connor is doing the Roadblock now.

SueGee said...

So did I Jackie, "Baby" Chem for non-majors LOL. Never ever thought I would have a career in it.

SueGee

Jackie said...

Only the Fast Forward lets you skip all tasks in a leg.

Nickelpeed said...

Same here, Jackie. I admire anyone who can do Chemistry well. I did horrible in high school, but much better in college. It really depends on how well the teacher is and I bet Joe is a fantastic teacher!!!

Nickelpeed said...

YAY Father and Son!!!

Nickelpeed said...

Where are my hockey players! :-(

Becky said...

I would hate to have to wash that mullet hair after molasses, feathers, and manure water.

Becky said...

Put tape over that mouth!

Nickelpeed said...

Dang, Bates and Anthony, pick up you pace!!!

Becky said...

Oh, c-r-a-p!

Sharon S said...

Wait...we don't get to see what happens with the rest of them?

Nickelpeed said...

I am so happy they are being rewarded.

No, don't drop out!!!!

Becky said...

Thanks for having us here, Jackie. I will see you Wed. night.
'night all. It will be another busy day tomorrow.

Nickelpeed said...

:::Sigh:::

Thank you for hosting, Jackie.

Thank you for the concerns about my brother. You all are really fantastic.

Will see you all Wednesday!!!!

Becky said...

Just one last thought, perhaps the next leg is a non-elim round.

Sharon S said...

Thanks Jackie. Have a good start to the week everyone!

Jackie said...

Thanks for coming by, all!
