Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays to all who read the blog! Without y'all, there would be no blog. I especially want to thank those who donated this year. It's been a very challenging health year for me and those donations are appreciated!

Our wonderful Jackie has passed away. No details yet, but this is where we will share what we know. Her brother, Russ, has confirmed this.
Be kind to yourself as you grieve for this very special angel.

Super sad news. She will be missed so very much. I had been reaching out to her with no response. I had been fearing the worst and it came true. Goodbye Jackie and thank you for all the fun times and memories. You were always so much fun and made things so fun for all of us. Thank you. Goodbye. ~ Celine

What a sad day it is to receive this news about our friend and reality TV leader Jackie. 16 years ago I found this site and quickly became part of the community here. Because of Jackie I have made a group of friends from all over the country. Our group has reached beyond TV and we communicate regularly about our lives. Thank you Jackie for bringing this site into my life. Rest in peace with Vincent.

I have spent this day just totally numb.....

I think we will have to set up a new community page to watch the shows and chat in Jackie's honor

I think we should use the same page because as Jackie said The Show Must Go on. I wonder if there's any way or if anybody knows how we can take over this site. Does anybody know anything about it?

That would be a great memorial for her. I haven’t even conquered how to get my name in color after all these years so I will be no help.😵‍💫 Hard to believe how long she has entertained us. I found her in the early 2000’s if not in 2000. That’s a lot of shows, pictures, adventures, and wonderful entertaining stories like only she could tell. I got to visit New York through her eyes. I will never forget the shock of reading Russ email of her passing. Total shock and sadness and I will never forget her.

So sad to hear this news. RIP Jackie! Thank you for the BB sanctuary through the years. I’ve met some pretty wonderful
people here, especially you! Thank you for all the nights you stayed awake to give us the best play by play BB had to offer. You will be missed. ❤️

It's still so unreal to fathom that you are gone, Jackie. I know these past several months have not been easy on your health and I'm sure you were so tired. I remember finding you in the summer of 2005 on AOL TV Squad and found a home to discuss everything Big Brother and Survivor then added TAR to my favorite shows because of you. The friends that I've made through all of these years is a testament to the community you built here. To say that you are missed is such an understatement. I'm sure you are hugging and cuddling with Scherzo and Vincent again at last.

RIP and Godspeed friend...

I am setting up fundraiser in memory of our dear Jackie. I am trying to find out where she got Vincent. I will post the link to the fundraiser here and on a few other places. No pressure, of course. This is just information if you are interested.

Wonderful idea, Laurie! I'll be happy to contribute. I was wondering if there'd be any kind of memorial set up and I think the idea of supporting the rescue that saved Vincent is great!

I checked back through some of Jackie's old posts and this is what I found: She adopted Vincent from New York City Animal Care and Control at a Spanish Harlem/El Barrio location. She wrote about her trip to pick him up in her weekly "That Was the Week it Was" post on Sept. 13, 2009.

Scrolling through her old posts made me realize how much I miss them. She was such a talented writer and photographer.

SueGee said...

Thanks you guys... I think it would be a wonderful tribute.

I remember her story of going to rescue him.

Survivor starts next week and I know it is going to be very hard to watch...

Thank you so much. I will get this set up tomorrow. We will miss her forever, I think. Sending peace.

This link should take you to the place where Jackie got her beloved Vincent.
Your donation will be a good thing for you and for the animals.
If this doesn't work ... I will try another way!

I was a lurker for 16 years, but Jackie's reporting and everyone's comments have been a huge part of my Survivor watching experience.
I'm gonna miss all of you so much.
Has anyone thought to start a new blog where we can all interact again? I'd totally go lurk there too!

Sharon N said...

Oh no!!! Just now learning the sad news. :(
AFter checking in to Jackie's site a couple of weeks ago, I was a little surprised to still see the Happy Holidays post, so I kind of had an uncomfortable feeling something had happened. We all know her health hasn't been good for several years, but I didn't want to believe she had passed.

The last few years have been really rough for Jackie. It's especially difficult to grasp so soon after JonMD's passing. I'd like to think they will be watching from above and exchanging quick & witty quips.

RIP Jackie... you will be missed by many.

David said...

Such sad news. :( You will be missed Jackie.

I was also randomly checking here to see if anything on survivor was posted, Sharon. Not seeing anything, I opened this post to find the horrible news.

Share your witty commentary with the other angels and keep them as entertained as you have those of us fortunate enough to have known you.

RIP Jackie.

This is a big loss and I am going to miss all of Jackie’s followers and commentors…all of you all, I never mastered live blogging but I always read Jackie’s….in fact, I kinda stopped watching BB but still read her comments. I don’t think I could ever watch BB without her….survivor yes tho. But it won’t be the same….her telling us about all the players bios ….are we the hamsters now?

We had been talking about at least having a place to chat on show nights. Any suggestions? Any volunteers? I'm on the West Coast and although I chat, I can't actually watch the shows until 3 hours later. I do think I make great pools for us tho...

I can offer a page on my website until something better comes along. I've just started writing the page, but I intend to make it a reference page to help us identify who the players are while we get to know them.

Hi guys! I'm afraid we will have to put the pool on hold for a while. My son had back surgery yesterday and I'm getting ready to travel to Iowa on Saturday to help take care of him. I will probably join you for a bit tomorrow night, but I need to figure out the new setup first and get my mind to slow down about everything going on (and packing for winter)

Oh my, that is very sad news. Jackie created a wonderful community with the common love of Survivor, BB and TAR. She will be missed by many people. I fell in love with her photographs of Plainfield. Anyone remember the cat she often photographed on the roof of a building named Rufus?
If anyone would like to contact me if the group continues to chat, my email is theglasspane@aol.com.
I share in your grief.

I came here tonight to spend time with my Survivor friends, and of course Jackie. I didn’t know she had left us.I knew Jackie online since I started doing a TV Blog on Blogger about 20 years ago. We shared a love of Survivor, Big Brother, and most importantly (for me) The Amazing Race. We became friends online, and if we sometimes drifted apart, well, that’s how friends are.

It was almost exactly a year ago that my mother passed away at age 93. Jackie was one of the first people on Facebook to reach out with condolences. I came back here the day after my mother’s death. And now I find that Jackie is gone.

I shall miss her so much.

It seems so odd to be watching Survivor knowing Jackie won’t be posting her insights. 😟 does anyone know if an obituary was ever posted anywhere?

Very sorry to hear of Jackies passing. I joined Jackie's blog back in 2011. Over the years I always enjoyed the conversations and everyone's view of the show's happenings. Made a lot of virtual friends here over the years. I'm sure she will be dearly missed by us all. May she rest in peace.

Joy do all the erasures mean you aren’t going to continue the blog?

Sharon N said...

Anon 11:47

Nobody has the password to Jackie's blog, so there's no way for anyone to continue with Jackie's blog (as it was). However, Joy did set up a different blog here: https://motherguru.ca/survivor-46-chat/

Although Joy's blog isn't set up the same as Jackie's (with all the game insights), it's appreciated that she's taken the reins... so we all can keep in touch and follow Survivor together.

Anonymous said...

Yes Sharon but Joy deleted all her links to that blog above. So that led me to believe she might not continue that blog. I knew no one was continuing on Jackie’s page. If you scroll up you’ll see VIBE deleted many comments.

Anonymous said...

“This comment has been removed by author” is sprinkled above where Joy deleted the links. ?????

Sharon N said...

On Joy's new blog, she mentioned a screenshot she took (of Jackie's last post on Jan 31). She posted the screenshot here which also disappeared. No clue how or why, and there's no point in conjecture.

In any case, Joy has started her own blog, which means it won't be in this location. She readily admits her blogging abilities are more limited, so it won't be anything like Jackie's. After watching the 1st Survivor show and jumping onto her blog, it looks like this will be more of a chat format with friends discussing events on Survivor.

I was unable to figure out how to post that screenshot in comments. It is at the bottom of this page: https://motherguru.ca/survivor-46-chat/

It does not mean that. I worried I was commenting here too often and became self conscious. Sorry about that. https://motherguru.ca/survivor-46-chat/

Would you like me to do that SueGee? I'd be happy to.

Very sad to read this! Like many I first stumbled upon Jackie’s blog during the heydays of blogspot decades ago. She always had a way of sharing her love to all readers and I’m going to miss this blog and her.

I obviously don't get here too often, so I'm just reading the news. I never met Jackie but I have to say it hurts my heart to know she's gone. A fan for many, many years - I admit I'm happy I finally got around to donating to her last year when she was struggling. All the best to all those names I see and recognize; you all made this a fun place to visit. No more splashing or sharing virtual food and drink - life goes on, but know you have all made a difference to people's lives you have no idea.
