Checking Out the Survivor Gabon Castaways: Part 3

This is my look at the last six castaways accompanied by their video clips from the CBS website. You can find parts one and two here and here ... but not here.

Watch CBS Videos Online

Jacquie Berg, age 25, Santa Barbara, California
Cool, a Jackie on the show, albeit with odd spelling and I'm not a 25-year-old natural blond. At least CBS fixed the spelling on her name. I pondered if she was transgendered with the name "Jacque." I kind of like her. Whether she'll get anywhere near the final four, I don't know. I think she's a contender, but wonder if the Sugars will stay on instead of her.

Watch CBS Videos Online

Gillian Larson, age 61, Temecula, California
Oh, I think I already adore this retired nurse who's tried 15 times to get on the show. She keeps herself fit, but I'm not sure how well she's going to hold up endurance-wise throughout the season. I'd say she might be just a bit nutsy, but she's turned into my newest favorite for the win. Who knows? It could happen!

Watch CBS Videos Online

Danny "GC" Brown, age 26, Portland, Oregon
Ah, a working man "Dreamz" -- one who actually has a job and home even though he had a hard upbringing. He's a maintenance man although his family has been homeless in his youth. The guy has some good ideals. While I'm not getting the "sole Survivor" vibe from him, I think he could go a long ways in the game.

Watch CBS Videos Online

Dan Kay, age 32, Boston, Massachusetts
Not to be confused with castaway Danny, nor Danny Kaye. A lawyer from Boston who comes across quasi-smug with himself to me on initial glance, he's wearing one of those silly little faux-hawks. You know, kind of like Memphis. Hopefully he won't have hair product in Africa. I'm a bit leery of anyone who talks about wanting to lead. They may as well say, "Slap a target on my back and stick a fork in me." Maybe I'll think differently once I see him in action. He isn't bad on the eyes and doesn't have the Boston Rob accent.

Watch CBS Videos Online

Crystal Cox, age 29, Durham, North Carolina
Crystal is a former track and field Olympics champion. She seems very determined and she certainly has overcome challenges in her life. I think she could definitely go far physically and probably isn't too shabby mentally, either. I only wonder if her own super confidence in herself might be a downfall. It's one thing for an older woman like Gillian to be super confident, but when it's a very physically fit younger woman, she might be looked upon as as much of a threat as a young physically fit guy.

Watch CBS Videos Online

Charlie Herschel, age 29, NYC, New York
Okay, this makes the second lawyer this season and I've lost count of how many of them are 29. He's this season's gay guy representative, I guess. He does run marathons and is a huge fan of the show. I think it's going to be interesting to see him work his strategies. He's making a lot of really good points. He's a go-getter in education and career. I think I might like his gameplay if he goes the route he says he will in the video.

  1. YAHOO!! It's Survivor day!

Okrmommy, when do we find our who our castaways are for the pool? I wonder who I'm going to jinks. :)

Have a great day everyone. I'll catch ya all later!

  2. I'll let everyone know before I leave work, around 4:30 or 5:00 CST.

I still need 7 people to make teams of two for each castaway and I'm not sure if Nancy is the same as Nancy in NJ. I think I might have duplicated her, but I'm not sure.

  3. Good morning everyone! I'm getting excited to see my very first Survivor episode tonight. Do they vote someone off the very first night?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Laurie - We'll probably see two go tonight. Originally the premiere was set for last week and one hour. Tonight is actually the first TWO shows. I hope you like it!

  5. I'm hyped up for Survivor.

On TV Guide's behind the scenes/promo show they said that if a person is sent to exile island they would have the choice of going to exile to search for the immunity idol or go to a place with a few creature comforts and some type of food not necessarily a meal.
Jeff Probst said he wondered if anyone would be dumb enough to go for the creature comforts instead of the immunity idol.
As a fan of survivor I can answer Jeff's question with a resounding Yes someone will definitley do that.
In Survivor and BB after a while even the best players seem to lose the ability to see the big picture and remember that the game is always on.
In a previous post on Survivor I said that I probably couldn't find Gabon on the map. I have since looked at a map of Africa and found Gabon to be on the west coast.

  6. orkmommy... you did get my post that told you that meb was what you had down as marge77bsc. I can handle two if you want... it might be the only way I stay in the game longer. Nah... both would probably go home on the two episodes tonight.

This is going to be fun!

  7. Jackie,
    Loved the "Mean Kitty Song"...

What's the latest on Rufus sightings?

    Can't wait fror survivor.

  8. Morning all.

It is Survivor night. I'm excited to see who I'm going to root for and who is cheering with me!!

ork-I put up a comment under Heroes about the Nancy's. If they joined you through e-mail I know Nancy in nj starts with Hfiveo.....she usually always posts as nancy in nj not just nancy.

I'm not sure I will be watching tonight. My mom is in the hospital with a lung infection and is not doing well. The drs. have said that the next 24-48 will tell if she is going to make it. Because of lung cancer 7 years ago she only has 25% lung capacity and the infection is building faster than she can cough it out. Keep us in your prayers and I will check back when I can.

  9. nana in the nw... I am so sorry to hear about your mom, and my prayers are with you and your mother. How long has she been in the hospital? 7 years as a cancer survivor and then she gets some stupid infection. Please do keep us posted.

  10. Meb - I got ya fixed up.

If I don't hear from "Nancy" by this afternoon, I'll just assume it's the same person.

I just can't believe my shows overlap tonight. Survivor from 7-9, Grey's from 8-10 & ER from 9-10 and I have no DVR!!! It's gonna be tricky but I'll manage!

Nana - Sending good thoughts to you & your mom!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Does Richard in Houston and Mike want to play Survivor Pool with us? I see from previos posts that they are fans. Send orkmommy and email at orkmommy@gmail.com if you want to play.
I hope I get someone good!

    Margo

  12. Thanks to Margo I've got ALBGLINKA & CLEMENTINE signed up. I missed their messages in the Hero's post!

I fixed the Nancy snafoo and now there are 6 open spots!

Stay tuned around 4:30ish (CST) and I'll post the teams!

  13. nana, I had to leave a comment after reading about your mother. I will keep her and you in my thoughts. Keep us posted, please.

Sharon, I hope you are reading Jackie's and just haven't commented lately. We are all thinking of you and wonder where and how you are.

Jackie, good luck today as you visit your doctors.

I can't promise to watch all of Survivor and that is why I haven't commented too much lately. It doesn't seem right to join in the talk when I haven't seen the show. I like it and will watch as much as I can, but sometimes that just doesn't work out.

Also, I do not know how the Survivor game pool works Orkmommy. But, if need another player to make it work out for everyone..please add me. Sue

  14. Bit of disappointing news...apparently the debate that was canceled for tomorrow night is rescheduled for next Thursday night. As of now my Tivo is telling me that there will be no Survivor or Grey's Anatomy (or regular Thurs shows) next week. So looks like we get a 2hr fix this week but then have to wait 2 more weeks. Sad :-(

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm sooo excited, the granddaddy of modern competitive reality series is back for a 17th season. The 9pm hour will be hard for me though because that's when Grey's begins, I'll have to flip back & forth, LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  16. nana,
Just wanted to send you good vibes and let you know I am praying for your Mother and you.

Sharon, I know you have been very ill. I hope you are feeling better.

Jackie, Good luck with your Drs. visit and with the vampires. I hope you have better veins than I do.
When the lab techs see me they cringe. I think it is more stressful for them to get the blood out of me than it is for me to let them have it. I am used to having them try 2 or 3 times before they find a vein. I always look like a junky after I get blood drawn.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Caroline - Has it officially been canceled? I just read an article on CNN that was posted recently and they said it still wasn't decided.

TitanTV has Survivor on next week, but the Vice Presidential debate is on after that.

Sue - I've got you in the pool! Thanks for gettin in!

Alecia - Did you want into the pool?

    ReplyDelete
  18. BOOHOO! I have to go to a board meeting tonight & can't watch until later. Give me somebody good, Orkmommy!

Nana - you & your mom are in my prayers.

    Jennasmom

  19. I believe the debate scheduled for Thursday Oct. 2 is the Vice Presidental debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin.
According to the reports I have heard and read in the past 30 minutes (CNN and MSNBC) the Presidental debate scheduled for Friday Sept. 26 is still on.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Jackie, thanks for the explanation about having 2 go tonight. I hope they aren't my person.

Now to find out about Exile Island and all the other things. I'm on the hunt for a Survivor Primer!

Nana, you and your mom are in my prayers. Know that you are surrounded by our love.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'll have to go double check my Tivo. Now I'm hoping I'm wrong and it's just freaking out. All it said was "2008 Presidential Debate" listed on the guide which could certainly pertain to the VPs. Maybe we have Survivor next week but no Grey's Anatomy if it starts at 9pm?

Lol, sorry to cry wolf if all our shows are still on.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Went to "not here" and loved the Sparta clip. Great entertainment!

Good luck at the Dr's today Jackie.

Nana, I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. Have courage.

RealityTVWorld has some Survivor spoilers. Can't vouch for their authenticity but they have lots of pix, names of the tribes and members, map of Gabon, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nana, I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I've been taking care of my mother, who has dementia, for quite a while now. My heart and prayers are with you.

Okay... bring on Survivor. I too hope I do not get a dud, but if I do it's all good. Game on! Where's my partner, lol?

Oh, since Laurie's playing, if I do get a dweeb, pinhead, dud, creep, loser, etc... will you make me a Pinata for my pity party? ;)

Can't wait for the season to get on the road again. Yah hoooooo!

    Hugs!

  24. Jackie, the nurse from Temecula, its 10 minutes south of me here in California....shes a hoot!

    ****************

Just to clarify... that pertains to my Survivor and not my partner. :)

  26. Hi all. I took a mental health day today, so I'm just catching up now. I'm all ready for Survivor tonight, but I'll be switching back and forth for the second hour because Grey's premiere is tonight. Can't wait to find out who my survivor is - and who my playing partner is.

    ReplyDelete
  27. So sorry to hear about your mom Nana. She will be in my prayers.

  29. Preparing the snack tray for Survivor and looking forward to living vicariously through Kelly. I just hope she doesn't "snooze" the other cast aways too much.

    Thank you Jackie and Orkmommy.

  30. I had a chance to run home and what's the first thing I did?....checked here to see who I would be rooting for this season. I think my gal actually has a shot at going far in this game. Tonight will help us all better know whose who.

I have my DVR set in case I don't make it home from the hospital.

Thanks so much for the prayers and well wishes. My mom is doing much better this afternoon. The drs. have been doing C-pak treatments which are helping her breathe. She complained about the nurses kicking us all out of her room so she could sleep and was asking for coffee!! Those were both good signs. I know we're not out of the woods but things are looking up.

Thanks again to all of you!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think I may watch tonight then go back over these. It's so much work Jackie -- I wait so long for my little pictures and 30 second videos to upload on my blog and often blogger doesn't accept them, I don't know how you do all these and not pull your hair out.

    or...Maybe I'm doing something wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  32. YAY...SUE... We're partnered together. Jackie says that Marcus Lehman is a doctor and is algo good looking. He was named Georgia's Hottest Bachelor by Cosmopolitan magazine. She said he went to Harvard. He looks pretty good, so maybe we've got a chance.

nana in the nw... so glad to hear your mom is better.

Jackie... let us know how your appointment went today.

    OK... game on!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Okay, Terry, Dan is our man. (Worked for me on BB) I'm going back to read his bio again. Hope he doesn't let us down.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Orkmommy, I sent you an e-mail to see if I can in the pool. Looking forward to another season of Survivor.

  35. Woo Hoo I am flying solo with Michelle Chase!
Sounds like she might stick around for a while.
Don't know about her personality but I would trade bodies with her! LOL
    Thanks for organizing this Orkmommy.

  36. Alright pdx granny, let's cheer our boy on now.

    GO DANNY GO
    GO DANNY GO
    GO DANNY GO
    GO DANNY GO

I like Jackie's description and he's not bad on the interview. :)

    Thanks orkmommy...

See you all in a few! woohooo

    ReplyDelete
  37. EileenM - Since the show hasn't started yet, I'll let cha in ;)

You'll be paired up with RJM in SC on the Matty Whitmore team.

Since my mom only reads here once Survivor starts, she didn't know about the pool. I'm adding her too so Barbwire will be paired with lynn1 on the Michelle Chase team.
I'll make the update next time I post the teams.
    Good luck everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Terry, Dan Kay is a 32 year old Boston lawyer and not too shabby looking.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nana, I hadn't read the comments today before I made mine, and now I've read them to see the news about your mother. Wow, it's so terrible to be struggling with only 25% lung capacity. And pretty tense for you to hear that the next day or two will be critical in turning this around. You and your whole family are in my prayers. Let me know if you need anything.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Nana - I'm just catching up on comments now as I was gone for most of the day and then it was showtime. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your mother. It sounds like she's a fighter and I'm thankful that her condition has improved some.
