'Big Brother 8' - Live Feeds Since the Live Show Into Friday 8/31

As I get this written up, Evel Dick and Daniele are whispering. I can only catch about every third word they say, but they're not too happy.

Here's the latest skinny:
  • First, I'd like to thank everyone who participated on the blog last night once again. You ALL rock! I recorded the show, but haven't watched it yet because I had the blow-by-blow description of the events. I'll watch it after work tonight.
  • In the comp, they gave up hot showers for the week in order to get more cups. Eric also won a phone call, but gave it to Jessica in hopes they can get her brother in Iraq to call.
  • Keep in mind, the HG are covered with a buttery substance ... and can only take cold showers. EWW.
  • They're wondering if they'll have a food comp tomorrow (today). I don't know, but they usually don't when they have to cover a HOH endurance comp on the Sunday show. Maybe.
  • Jessica thinks that Zach will nominate her because she put him on the block last week.
  • There's something about envelopes and phone calls from home, but the feeds were cutting out and I didn't quite get it. I'm not sure if they were discussing the one call I heard about or additional ones.
  • Everyone who was in the comp is sore. There were some slips, slides, and crashes. Everyone lived, though. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?
  • They didn't get their usual Thursday night big feast -- this must be why they had the one the night before. BB had no idea how long this comp would take.
  • In his HOH, Zach got snacks which he promptly shared with all, a Frisbee, and lots o' goodies. His Mom sent a card which said "Have good clean fun." Huh. She doesn't know this show too well, does she?
  • Dick thinks the fact he was wearing jeans slowed him down. I thought he did very well. I personally think Zach won due to his larger feet to sail on, but it could have been grit and determination!
  • Eric said he hurt himself about five minutes into the comp. Since he thought it might go on for hours, he didn't want to ruin things and didn't say anything.
  • Zach told Daniele his brother told him not to be the first one voted out, so he's thrilled to be this far in the game.
  • Daniele told him that everyone's upset that he won. They're all scared. She then kissed up and commented how she really didn't want Nick voted out the week he was. Going for the sore points, eh?
  • Daniele seems to be trying to hint to Zach that he should put Dick on the block. Zach admits to her that Dick makes him very uneasy.
  • Then Daniele goes for him putting Eric or Jessica on the block. Anyone but Daniele, right?
  • Zach doesn't commit to anything at this time.
  • Dick thinks Amber or Jen had food stashed in the bedroom as there are ants and a smell.
  • Even Dick is sucking up to Zach.
  • Zach, so far, isn't pulling a Dustin. He's his normal abnormal Zach self, perhaps just a tad happier.
As I post this, there are no real indications who will go on the block tonight. I think Zach will think this through thoroughly and do the best thing on a strategic level for him to advance in the game. He won't do anything on a purely personal basis. Zach's like that, yeah, he is.

Doh. Somehow I knew Zach was going to win. Knowing that he could be the only one to save himself, I knew that he'd be trying harder than anyone. Argh. I don't hate Zach, but he hasn't done much at all during the game. I like everyone else so much. If he's smart, he'll put up a Jessica/Eric or Dick/Jessica combination.

Good Morning!
I was thinking through Zach's options, and the thing that bothers me is that I think Dick might sacrifice himself so that Daniele can stay, but I'd want Daniele gone, but I wouldn't want to live with Dick if I got Daniele evicted...oh brother.

Tessa said...

Do you think Zach is going to team up with Jameka? Is he even thinking about putting up Jameka? I would think stategically he would want to get rid of one of the pairs.

Anonymous said...

Wishful thinking on my part that Zach would target Daniele. She makes me want to hurl and I wish her sneaky, backstabbing, whiney, bony, self-centered, cheating, immature butt would be gone this week in the double eviction. Unfortunately, Zach's best chance at a win is to eliminate the players with the least amount of enemies such as Jess or Jameka.

Time for Zach to pull a Dani, therefore Backdoor her, despite Jessica/Eric, Danielle is the biggest threat, a great player would NOT be blindside by those facts!

Sydney said...

X-Tina, totally agree.

Dia -- there was a comment on the last blog that pointed out that you and a few others stayed on the post before the 300+ commenter we all were trying to live blog on, and did all the updates there. I was going to stay on that page but saw that Jackie had reloaded a new post and skipped up to there. It IS great to read about last night's show on that one, as it's uncluttered. The other was fun to do, and it's interesting to see it presented both ways, if people go back and look. Just wanted to also shout out to Dia and the folks who wrote that. Had I not had the feeds I would have been so grate ful to read it. Last night was one in this long, snoze of a season I didn't want to miss.

I bet that the HG's wished they had voted out Zack instead of Amber after that comp. She would have never won!!! I believe Zack has been closest to ED/D then the others, so if he can make himself safe for the next vote, he will. If there is a D Elim this week, I feel anything will happen and so-called alliances will mean nada!

Sydney said...

RiseandShine -- Maybe we'd see a gentler, kinder Dick if Dani got gone as she's been such a royal BEOTCH to him of late. And if he got the $$, he'd probably pass some along to both his kids anyway. I didn't get to vote last night but I'd vote for Dani to GO hands down. He speech to Amber last night was so hollow. Warm wrods, zero sincereity. Don't fall for her shit Zack!!

Jackie - you have the best blog i've ever been to - and all your commenters are so great !! The minute by minute updates from the live show were 2nd to none (well, ok, 2nd to yours)

I congratulate all of the regulars & the anons who participated last night, you did a great job !! My computer is in another room than my tv, so i couldn't help, & i selfishly chose to watch the show :)

I also think that Zack will think his nominations thru - he won't pick based on personals (as everyone else does, even if they say they don't) he will think strategically - I can't wait to see who he chooses

Anonymous said...

Jokers is posting that Zach will be putting up Jameka and Jess with Jameka as the target. He has spoken to Dani and Dick. Dick made a deal with Zach in which Zach won't put up D&D this week if Zach is safe from them next week. Dick ran and told Eric, but played it off as if Dick was just joshing Zach.
I've been up all night, hope I didn't miss Amber on CBS This Morning...lol

I'm on the east coast and my part of CT didn't get the live show so THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all who jumped in and blogged the happenings. It really was fun to read and of course, a big thank you to Jackie, as always!

I don't even know who I want out at this point. I don't like or dislike Zach but it will be interesting to see what he does after all this time. Also interesting to see the others kiss up to him after all the times they made fun of him.

I'm not an Eric fan but I have to say that he turned out to be a good player for AP. He is quick thinking and has come up with some creative explanations for some of his tasks and somehow managed to survive the banner plane and Dick's all-out attack. My problem is I really do think AP has influenced the game a lot and I'm not sure that was a good thing. LOL...who knows, these HG's might have been even more boring without AP...and maybe not. JMO and I'm off to finally watch my recording of the (no longer) live show.

Thanks again to ALL!!!

Ah BB Tradition is upheld, it is good to have something in this world we can count on. Loser Boy, most unliked (different than disliked) in the house, who was on the block and scared he would go, up until the last minute, is now in charge of the house. Fun times.

Daniele is dangerous. Insidious, if I had to give one word for her treatment of Zach. Worming her way into his alliance without committing herself to actually do anything to help him, but taking credit when she can. He could be her soldier and get her dad out for her, or anyone of the others out to help her. I think her suggesting Dick was a way to show Zach that she is playing alone and not as a team. If daddy goes, that is okay, but if she saves him because Zach doesn't think she cares, that works, too. Daniele would like any strong player (except herself) to be eliminated this week, while she can plead innocent of it. Watch Jackie, when you see the tape, of what happens when Amber leaves and all are hugging her goodbye. Dani hangs back and has a private word and pat with Zach. She is always thinking and that makes her a strong player. I like strong players, I just don't like Daniele.
I won't be buying her a car or a fancy bag.

I like Zach, in a secret, 'I'll look uncool if I am outed about liking the plodder' way. He reminds me of people I know. Those people are smart and logical and their beliefs are the core of their actions. I'm not saying Zach is that way, but the people I know who remind me of Zach, are. And, even if it were strategy, he has given good kind advice to hgs, including Amber. Sounds like I am kissing up to the HOH, doesn't it. I bet he reads comic/action hero books.

One word for Zach is 'faithful', but I am hoping that faithfulness goes to someone or some plan that he made before getting into the house and is not colored by any (daniele) one in the house now. If he said before he came in, that he would take out strong players, then he will do it. No ands, ifs, or pretty butts about it. Horton the elephant was steadfast, too. 'I said what I meant and I meant what I said' could be Zach's motto. At least it seemed to me he operated without a gray area of discussion when he was telling Jen about breaking rules. I think he has a very clear idea of what it means to be HOH and he will follow that path studiously and then condemn someone to the jury. Yes, I see him as judgmental in a huge way. Sue

Getting rid of Jameka does nothing to further Zach's game. He's either gotta put up D&D (please, please) or E&J. He's got to break up one of these twosomes. Was this the last HOH that Jameka has to sit out on? This is just what I wanted to see, the HGs sucking up to Zach for a change instead of the other way around.

Football blocked my BB watching last night too, thanks to all who live blogged! I was sorry I missed Amber's goodbye, but:

God Bless You, God!!!!!!!

I hope she takes her winnings from "Power of 10" and invests it in some low-cost therapy! The more sessions, the better.

Anonymous said...

I may not be a real thinker, but Dick would have been one of the first to go in the house for me. If he had, he would not have been on the jury as he certainly will be now whenever he is put out. He is a bully in the true sense of the word and will try to make the folks in the jury see things his way.

To put out Jameka at this point is foolish. Break up the alliences!

Problem is that he doesn't get to decide. If he puts up Eric & Dick and Eric or Jessica wins veto and removes Eric--Eric and Jessica will decide. If Dick comes off--he and Daniele will. If they stay the same--Dick goes. He has to put up D&D or E&J. D&D is safer because if either wins the veto,, they save danille and Dick still goes. And J&E couldn't use the veto because the other one would go up.

Anonymous said...

Putting up Jameka this week does not make sense and i don't see Zach as a dumb player. Keeping the alliances will only get him evicted before the F4. If he breaks up D&D or E&J he has a lot higher chance of getting to the F4. If one of the alliances are broken up then whoever wins HOH next week will probably try to break up the one that is left. Since he is not in an alliance he lasts a little while longer.

I'm so glad that Zach finally won something! I'm not so sure that he hasn't been playing the game, but didn't have much success winning at anything up until now. He just knew he had to win this one! The only thing that worries me is that this may be his ticket out of the house in the DE on Thursday. All any of the remaining five have to do is threaten him that they'll put him up and eliminate him next, since he can't play for HOH,well, except for Jameka(she still has one more HOH to sit out). When is it that they can all play for HOH,when it's down to 4???

I hope he breaks up a couple too,but Jameka is a threat, since she might win over Zach in the final two. Lots of the hamsters acted as if they didn't like Zach and might see her as a "better" person, one of Amber's "good people" Let's hope not! Also,I am worried that his loyalty to Nick will make him shelter Dani from noms. He's kind of ticked at Jess for his nom last time and Dani sure knows how to play him. Loved how ALL of them kissed Amber's butt in their goodbye messages. What phonies!!!

I didn't see Amber on the Early Show or did I just miss her??? Maybe she's still crying and they couldn't get her to shut up!

Anonymous said...

I just dont see Zach putting up one of the two teams. He will probably put up one from each each
and back door Jameka. shes so sweet and non violent, I personally would give her all the bucks if I was on the jury. So really no one should go up against her or Jess.

Sheree said...

What I meant was with an Eric and Dick nomination if one comes off the block another from the group of 4 goes up and someone goes home. I sure hope it isn't Jessica although final two with her would be a killer for anyone else.

I like everything Sue said and only wish I could have said it so eloquently.

You got good words Sue.

Seriously, I enjoy reading your posts Sue. Probably because they are my sentiments as well. Are you a writer by profession?

For anyone who might know: I voted for Dani's nom/evic 10 times on one of my email names and then 10 times under a different name, but on the same computer. Would all 20 count or can they tell it's coming from the same computer?

i don't think jameka will be the target...she still has another week that she can't participate in HOH...
i think Jess will be a target...strategically, she's well liked and Zach knows he wouldn't want to be up against her..
not that jameka would be a good choice either...but she's sort of a sitting duck with no power

Since season 5 -- I have not bought into HG's theories on who they cannot beat in final's simply because that HG is " well liked, non confrontational " it's become one of the oldest used strategic trick's in the house, it's to persuade a HOH into not nominating them, by convincing him or her that the well liked player, who has no enemies, who hasn't played the game would ultimately win, GMAB @@ I firmly believe HG's will vote accordingly as to whom actually played the game. Last years BB didn't buy into it by voting for Mike Boogie to win, this year once again I believe HG's will vote for the best player, it by far will NOT be Jameka ( unless she's with Zach ?? ) despite what anyone says. I highly doubt ANYONE in their right mind would have actually voted for Amber if she had been in the finals,This year could be a little tougher; in reality Danielle, Eric, ED have played the game with Jessica next in line, Therefore whomever is sitting next to any of those will NOT win regardless. Of course it'll be divided if Eric and ED are the final two. This season HG's begin campaign way to early on whom they can or cannot beat in the final's, IMO that's why I viewed it as nothing more than using reverse psychology, being it was much to early.

I am so happy that Zach won the HOH competition. He has been treated most poorly by the others through out the shows and I can't see why. He certainly isn't any stranger or flakier than any of the rest is he? I woild love to see Dani go home next time we "oust" someone, then Jameka. After that let the chips fall where they may. Can't believe I have come around to the point that I actually think it is OK for Evel Dick to win it all. probably still wouldn't want him over for dinner, but he has played a heck of a game.

Also, according to yesterday's Housecalls, Amber will be on the first half of the show and Janelle will be on the second half.

Hope that helps.

I believe that Zach wants to go to the final 2 with Dick. He's stated that many times and I'm convinced he thinks he can win against him. Zach would be smart to do whatever he has to do make Dick happy so he can stay.

I just hope he tells Dick about Dani wanting to get him out. That would really put her in a bind...

Anonymous said...

I'm not happy Zach won, but I do feel like justice was served. E&J made a deal with the devil and now they just might have to pay up.
POV will be a doozy.

Sydney said...

Thanks for the link Sasha. I'll check it out.

I'd want ED in the F2 w/ me -- most think they have the best chance of winning against him. If ED were gone, then next seems like it would be Eric. But it depends on who's left...

If it were Jameka vs. Zach in F2, both are pretty blah in terms of any noticible game. Maybe Zach would win because he was at least thinking, talking, trying to work with all people in the house, able to be pretty loyal when he did make promises. We've seen a little game come out in Jameka, mostly helping Wahmber strategize adn getting in with Jess. But either might win against ED ro Eric, unless the jury decided to vote against who really PLAYED the game, whether they liked the PERSON or not.

I'd be surprised if the group in sequester cast their votes for anything other than personal reasons.

I felt the Jessica nom was a certainty. Just didn't know if he'd put up Eric or one of the D's against her. I think he's hoping if Jess doesn't go he can backdoor someone. The question is, whom?

Anonymous said...

If the D&D and E&J teams are not broken up, it will be a mistake and we will see them go to the end. I think Dick and Eric have been the thinkers and talkers, so it would not surprise me to see these two in the end. Of course anything can happen and we have double eviction coming up. With Zach being HOH, it depends on what he decides to do and who he puts up and if any backdooring takes place.

I wish I could have helped with blogging, however I had a volleyball game to play and I had to watch the show later. To everyone who helped out, you were great! Jackie is appreciated by many for her outstanding abilities to multi-task and to be so accurate.

Jackie, have you ever consider going into the BB house yourself?

Thanks again Jackie and to everyone who blogged the show.

Anonymous said...

God I hope Zack is smart and realizes he HAS to break up the two partnerships in the house, otherwise he is a goner. He needs to nominate one from each, ie., Dick and Eric. Then he can always back door the other one. He should leave Jameka in the house for sure, she will be his ally. Also I think if any of them are smart they would want to be sitting next to Dick in the final two. No one can lose against him!

Anonymous said...

If Zach's smart, he'll put up Dick and Eric. If Dick wins POV, he won't use it because he'll know that Dani will be put in his place. If Eric wins POV, he won't use it because he knows that Jess will be put in his place. So Dick or Eric go.

Now, if Dani wins POV and pulls Dick off, then Jess goes up against Eric. If Jess wins POV and takes Eric off, then Dani goes up in place of Eric.

If Jameka wins POV, she'll probably leave the noms the same and Dick will be up against Eric.

Any way you look at it, at least one of the alliances will be toast regardless if only Zach would put up one from each alliance!

Anonymous said...

Zach and Jen are the only two who early on wanted to break up the D&D monopoly on the house...so I hope Zach thinks clearly now and makes a good move. I think Jessica made a big mistake last week in not backdooring Dani or Dick...particularly Dick. Jameka is harmless for now...to vote her out would be a waste of a strategic move. I hope Zach thinks long and hard about who he can really trust and then realizes he can trust no one and just breaks up the two strong alliances and team with Jameka as the two odd men out.

Amber was not on The Early Show and I noticed last night that Julie didn't announce that she would be. I believe Pat in Missouri is right. There was a big article on AOL News yesterday. Controversies Fuel 'Big Brother 8'. This is the link:

http://news.aol.com/entertainment/television/story/ar_a/controversies-fuel-big-brother-8/29/07

I've never put up a link before. Hope I did it right.

I think it's a bit one-sided. They really "dump" on Dick and Amber.

It says Amber won't have to answer to the media about her comments because the reporters granted access to the jury members have been told by CBS they must agree not to ask Amber or Cameron (Dick, I believe) about their controversial remarks. The reporters are NOT happy about this. The AP (American Press) will decline to interview them at all.

Other than the mention that the remarks were about incest, race, ethnicity, sex and sexual orientation, they don't even mention Eric. Again, he seems to be protected somehow.

This may well be Allison Grodner's last shot as Exec. Producer.

Anonymous said...

Dick is not Cameron. Cameron is Jameka's last name.

Anonymous said...

I don't agree that Zack needs to break up the twosomes. He needs to join one of them. He's the swing vote in a House of 5.

It's a numbers game, and 3 is the new magic number.

If Zack teams up with Jameeka, it doesn't do him any good. Neither Zack nor Jameeka can compete for HOH this week. That leaves him at the mercy of the other 3 - with one very angry member of the 3 potentially HOH.

If Zack ousts Jameeka, he can position himself as the swing vote in the Final 5 and try to join either E/J or D/D, depending on which pair has HOH.

I think it is probably smarter to oust Jameeka than break up the pairs.

I had a thought last night. I think next year, BB should cast dating couples, but they aren't allowed to tell the other HG's that they're dating. Each couple would only know about their "connection". It would be interesting to see if anyone hits on another HG and see the fireworks!! Additionally, you know the couples would protect each other and that could be a great dynamic on it's own!

orkmommy, wasn't that what they did (basically) the year that Cappy and Maggie were secret companions. I can't remember who else were teamed up. I know they weren't dating couples, but same concept. It would still make it interesting tho to do something like that again.

Joe in NY ... Have to agree with the others. You always have good strategy which causes me to stop and regroup. Thanks.

RiseandShine said...

I don't think Amber would remember that she was supposed to be interviewed. Maybe tom's was right, and the guys with the white coats were there for her. Maybe CBS explained the situation to her and did some counselling. On second thought, that might backfire. I do imagine that CBS wouldn't give her Early Show time because of the incident, and I think they would have to talk to her about it before she goes out in public again.

Sydney...I think if I were Zach, Daniele is the one I would most like to be rid of because she is the biggest threat. On a personal note, I'd like to see Eric go flying out the door before D&D.

RiseandShine said...

I forgot...

Sue...You are right...another year, and the HOH contest is perfect for the person who was on the block but got to stay. That really is a tradition now.
I thought about it being perfect for Zach right away last night, but then I thought Dick might be better at it.

Orkmommy,

Good idea on dating pairs, but that happened on season 6 where the pairs knew each other, and when you're around people 24/7 they figure it out really quick who's with who and who knows each other outside the house.

The need to drop the expect the unexpected nonsense, and just get 14 people in there to duke it out.

I think Jameka is one of the people out this week unless she wins PoV. I'm trying to figure out how the live Double eviction will work, but I think you're right, vote, eviction, HoH , nominations, PoV, PoV ceremony, vote and eviction.

Also I think if any of them are smart they would want to be sitting next to Dick in the final two. No one can lose against him!
8/31/2007 11:47 AM
************************
Although Jen was backdoor`ed, ridiculed by ED, Jen stated she would ultimately end up voting for either Dick or Dani if either of them were in the finals because they indeed played the game. I wrote previously perhaps wanting to sit next to someone whom most of the HG's could not get along with was a great idea, IMO it no longer hold's any truth, HG's have been voting accordingly, otherwise last year's Erica who received only one vote from Marcella would have won hands down against Mike Boogie, Mike actually rode Will's coattails, though he did win HOH, he certainly was not well liked, Howie ended up voting for Mike, not holding anything Mike had done to him on a personal level. IMO Zach's only real shot of winning would probably be against Jameka, how much more embarrassing could Amber have boosted herself by actually believing she was being evicted simply because she probably would have been difficult to beat @@ Seriously with the exception of Jameka, Dick would have won hands down, At the end of the Day; I'd like to think one of the primary reason's contestants generally vote for a contestant who not only played the game well, but voted for stronger strategical powerful explosive player, thus respectfully allowing viewer's; they've voted without any bias. Despite Eric's belief voting will be personal, I disagree, voting will be for HG who played the game, not one who spent time lounging around. I for one would NEVER consider allowing a contestant on another reality show if I noted they've voted on a personal level. For me this clearly would imply their not being honest, after all it's just a game!

Not to disagree with anon 1:42 and his/her support, but there's a huge hole in anon 11:48's suggestion that a Dick/Eric nomination is the best.

If he nominates Dick and Eric, it is unlikely anyone uses the POV (unless Eric is willing to expose Jess). Then, one of them goes home.

Now Zach and Jameeka can't compete for HOH. So, the winner MUST be Jess, Dani, and the Eric/Dick survivor. It becomes likely that Zach earns himself a nomination by having annoyed BOTH PAIRS.

I think, as I've said, eliminating Jameeka and then sucking up to the next HOH is his best bet. But, absent that, he MUST target a single alliance, not both. (4 enemies in a house of 6 isn't good odds.)

But, if he does that and one of his nominees wins POV, he is forced to put up Jameeka anyway. (He can't target his new pals.) That would then give the power to evict back to the LJC alliance as well as giving them the next HOH.

erica--cbs has cancelled all interviews of all the remaining HG and production staff. I believe it's because of all the controversy surrounding Amber's racist remarks,Dick's mouth, etc.
If you go to Joker's Update and then scroll down to news and rumors there are some articles about it.

Damn, stayed up but...I just watched House Calls, the host read a statement from CBS...because of some of the actions & comments made by the houseguests this year they are only allowed to talk to the press but they cannot ask questions about it. blah blah blab...bottom line no more morning show, or house calls for present and future jurists. Sounded to me like each houseguest it in a sequester room all their own! Scary 5, 6 even 7 weeks alone in a room...yikes. Maybe they can have meals together, where the producers can monitor the conversation as they aren't supposed to talk about the game.

Here's what it said: (Am I allowed to copy and paste this?????)

Amber by Monty Brinton/ CBSLate Thursday, media outlets including TVGuide.com received the surprising word that neither Big Brother 8's Amber nor any other upcoming evictees will be made available for "postmortem" interviews. Why the change in long-standing policy? "We have made jury members... available to the press the past two seasons, always with the proviso that their questions not inform the ejected houseguest of influences outside his or her personal experience in the house," CBS says in a statement. "This season, several cast members have made either offensive statements or exhibited controversial behavior. We respect journalists' interest and right to pose questions about these matters, but at the same time believe doing so could provide information that influences the final vote and potential outcome of the 12-week competition." Cue lockdown.

CBS adds that any and all castoffs will be available for Q&A... following the Big Brother finale airing Sept. 18.

That's strange, the article I read said that CBS told the reporters they couldn't ask Amber (or Jameka) questions about the remarks Amber made, so the reporters declined interviewing them.

It said that they have always been able to ask the evicted houseguests questions about conversations that the houseguest was involved in or present for.

I'm glad to see Zack win HOH and watching him show everyone his HOH room last night was sweet. He was generous with his goodies and glad to show everyone his pictures & stuff. He is a bit of an oddball, but he has an endearing quality and just seems to be a great guy. GO ZACK!!

I agree with whoever wrote that Zack needs to go with nominating one alliance or the other, but not one from each. Why get both alliances gunning for you next week? Numbers are a big thing in this game and he needs to add his somewhere... I also don't agree with whoever said his best chances would be against Jameka in the end. With Dustin, Amber, Jessica & Jen in the jury, they would most likely vote for a Jameka win.

As for CBS not allowing HG interviews due to things said and done, I find it ridiculous. This is a house with non scripted people with their own views, thoughts, differences, tempers, ethnic & religious differences and THEY are "surprised" that offensive (to some) things have been said? Maybe next year they should just give each HG their role & a script & we can watch a very boring season (worse than this one)... I just don't get the "clean-up" job their attempting by not allowing interviews. These type of incidents are bound to happen in this type of scenario. As for seperate sequesters, LAME! I enjoy watching the sequester segments of the show and to have this taken away is a HUGE let down...

RiseandShine said...

I hope Amber's family whisks her away and helps her to understand the whole thing. Dick and Jen can fend for themselves, but Amber..@@

If it is true that the evicted HG are being kept in seperate rooms that will make Jen very happy
since she did not want to go "hang out"with Dustin.

to CBS I say--To little too late!! The damage has been done. The things that have been said and done will stick with the viewers and the individuals that were attacked. This action will give the HG more than their 15 minutes of fame when it's over.

The responsible thing for CBS to do would have been to take Amber to a treatment center immediately!!

"If Siyavus, who's nominated for eviction this week, is booted from the house, she won't have to answer to the media about her comments. That's because the reporters granted access to houseguests-turned-jury members have been told by CBS they must agree not to ask Siyavus or Cameron about the controversial

Jingles, I'm sure that Deanna isn't saying she agrees with Amber about Jews, but no, not every one takes offense like someone else. Not saying that we agree, it's just not something that affects us personally.
I'm sure you have made comments that someone has taken offense to. We all do. Maybe you are a Jewish person or know someone else that is and you may take it more personally than others. Just like so often, people call one another "retarded" or "retart", whether in a joking matter or not, there are some that take offense to people using that term. Or when one tells "blonde" jokes, there are some blondes out there that take offense to them.
I once knew someone that got highly offended to hear a "jail" joke because her father was sent to jail.
So many people take way too much personally when it affects them, but don't think twice about anything they say that may possibly be offensive to others.
People need to just chill. One persons opinions, don't affect anyone else in any way.
If we don't want to take the chance that someone somewhere will take offense to it, then guess what? We'd all have to just shut our mouths and never speak.

to add to previous post, I do know a jewish person. And guess what? He is very tight, and very selfish. We kid around with him all the time about it and he doesn't take offense because he knows with him, it's absolutely true. But we all have faults, and don't hold that fact that he is jewish, or the fact that he is tight and selfish, against him.
I also have a friend who has a retarded brother. She is one that makes retarded jokes too. However, another friend who works with retarded people gets highly offended by people calling one another "retart".
I can see how we should all fight against groups like the KKK that are totally racist and organize big rallys to promote their hatred. But for these small individual comments that "some" find offensive, get over it already! Just remember, no one is totally innocent in saying something that someone would take offense to.

WOW. Anons 4:35 and 4:43, I do hope you're not saying that it's ok to smear and stereotype an entire group of people -- whether by race, religion, ethnic heritage, or whatever.

thanks for the education on what is and isn't offensive language annon, I feel so much smarter now. I think what amber said is offensive, even to non jewish people, just like if she had used the n-word that would be offensive even to non black people.Comparing anti semetic statements to a blonde joke is nonsense on your part. I think lots of the things that dick said to Jen were very offensive.
Im not saying that they should be censored or thrown off the show or anything, just that they are offensive. If you don't think what she said about jews is offensive, that probably means you agree with what she said too. And while I may offend some people somtimes, I try not to do it on national television.

All that CBS non-interview talk sounds like spin to me. First rule of any good spin doctor is say anything except what you mean. (except for Dr Will who said exactly what he meant) I think that they think that Amber is a loose canon who embarrasses BB. I think they decided to scrutinize Amber's appearances after they saw the difficulty she had talking to Drew Carey. BB loves politically incorrect statements and poor behavior and would flaunt it for ratings. What they can't stand is being embarrassed by a hg who makes the show look stupid. Sue

Whoa! Anons 4:35 and 4:43:
What Amber said is offensive to everyone. It is not offensive to "some". You should be offended by it, I should be offended by it, and we should all work to eradicate that type of generalization, sterotyping, and hate.
If we all worried only about was personal to us, where would we be?
There's a much larger picture, a greater good, and we should all be a part of it.

Anonymous said...

People stick their feet in their mouths all the time....my guess is Amber won't have a clue as to what she said and how offensive it came across. I will go a step further and guess that she probably didn't mean to be offensive...she just didn't think before speaking.

By the way...calling a group of people stupid because of their hair color is absolutely no different than calling a religious group tight or selfish.

I agree we need to loosen up a little because most everything we say can be interpreted as offensive.

PS..I am a blonde who can laugh at myself!

Anonymous said...

Amber should be taken to a treatment center for what? Why would that be BB's responsibility? Why would they even care?

I think we can all stop pretending that we care if Amber gets help or not because for the most part, people here have no love for Amber.

The things that Amber said about the Jews were not more or less offensive than anything Dick has said about women (Jen, Amber, Jameca) and gay people (Dustin). Or Eric's nonsense about incest with regards to Dani and Dick. Amber might be a dimwit, but she is not the most offensive person on that show.

By the way, BB ratings are the best they've ever been so with everyone's complaining, it hasn't seemed to stop anyone from watching.

Nana in NW-- thank you for the BIG chuckle with your suggestions for a senior BB edition. Details were perfection. If I lived in the NW, I'd have to invite you over for coffee.

Tom' S-- I get what you're saying, have seen it done on other shows too, mainly Survivor. But as to THIS cast, do you think Dustin and Amber and maybe even Jameka would vote on something other than their personal feelings? I think if they had the chance to give Dick the money over someone the liked who didn't play as hard, say Jessica, I think they'd give it to her in a heartbeat, becasue they liked her better than Dick.

IF it came down to Dick or Dani (in their minds, the lesser of 2 Evels), then they may still say: who do we like better, or go with who was a better player since they don't LIKE either. Both ways figures in the personal.

And didn't Jen go out the door exclaiming that there's no way she'd give Dick her vote? In post-house interviews she's not bitter, but seems consistant about her feelings about Dick.

Not sure I'm at all right, just thinking about that one.

Sydney, if I believed for a second that anyone REALLY cares about her mental stability, I would agree with you, but no one here has Amber's best interest at heart (I think we can all agree with that). Suggesting she be carted away for help is simply belittling her further. No one here cares if Amber gets help or not...it's just another way of putting her down.

Maybe in Amber's world, she thinks she's normal.

Anonymous said...

Sasha & Jingles, Let me clarify something about my 2 anon posts. I did NOT say it was right that Amber was mouthing off with Anti-Jew remarks. It is very wrong for anyone to assume that everyone is the same as a handful of people in a race, religion, whatever.
What Amber said is just showing that she knows very little about jewish people. So should I slam Amber because of her beliefs? No. Had I been around Amber when she made those comments, I would have done like Jameka, and tried to educate rather than condemn. Did Jameka take offense? I doubt it. She knows there are some uneducated people like Amber out there and so what is there to take offense to?
I was raised to be anti-black. But when I grew up, got my own job, I saw that my parents led such sheltered lives that they didn't know any better. I have some very good black friends, and I do defend them when my dad still refers to them as "colored" or worse, the "N" word. I try to educate my dad about them, and not go flying off the handle and getting all defensive and down him because of how he was raised and his limited exposure to blacks.
Same as Mexicans. People I know are always downing them because the ones they have been exposed to haven't set a very good example for the other decent Mexicans. I do know some very well behaved, beautiful and clean Mexicans but do I take offense when some uneducated person downs them? No, I instead try to educate.
I just think people get too sensitive and fly off the handle much too quickly instead of looking at the whole picture.
And Jingles, for you to say blonde jokes aren't offensive, just shows your ignorance too doesn't it? You are trying to say what you find offensive is "more offensive" than what someone else finds offensive? To some blondes, it really hurts them when people are always telling blonde jokes. I am blonde and I can laugh, but there are some that are truly sensitive to being the butt of jokes to the point that they have changed their hair color!
So, Jingles, because you say offensive things off camera makes it ok as opposed to on camera?
And Sasha, my name is Alice. Does that make you know me any better than me not signing my name?

I really think that CBS may be keeping Amber away from the press for fear that she will have a complete breakdown if forced to face her delusions. CBS has already had 2 of their reality show contestants commit suicide and I think Amber could easily be a third unless they get her some help. She really believes she's loved by American and could be America's Next Top Model?? When she finds out that America hates her and 78% of voters wanted her evicted she is going to crack and CBS has realized they need to get her some help and fast! I have never seen anyone so unstable and out of touch with reality. Since they couldn't single her out they are now saying all contestants evicted from now on will not be allowed to talk with the media.

on this site caring about Amber. I do not know her personally but it doesn't mean I don't have compassion for her and her family. Yes, I have joked about her lack of common sense and not seeming to be in touch with reality-but that DOES NOT MEAN I DON'T CARE ABOUT HER GETTING HELP. I call that human compassion. Probably everyone has made a joke about someone disabilities but it doesn't mean we don't care. I blame CBS for not doing a more thorough check on her mental state and drug recovery. A person one year clean is still unstable and putting them in the environment of BB is like "throwing them to the lions". All of her instability is there for the world to scrutinize(no pun intended-just the best word to use). Now when she comes out she will not only have her family/friends to answer to but all the world. I DO CARE ABOUT HER!!! AS I WOULD CARE ABOUT SOMEONE I SAW ON THE NEWS WITH PROBLEMS AND NEEDING HELP.
That is way I stated she should be taken to a treatment center to re-adjust to the "real world" and learn how to deal with the repercussions of her statements.

Sorry, Jackie and other commenters but I was feeling personally attacked and the need to respond accordingly.

Anonymous said...

This is my final comment on the subject...only because I feel attacked by Jingles.

I can turn it around too and call it a slur against blondes or a joke about a religious group. The point simply being that any comment directed to a group as a whole, can and will be offensive to someone.

Insinuating that the Holocaust somehow relates to an idiotic comment by Amber, is, well, idiotic.

If that's how Amber felt then, it is what it is, I am not a Dr. Nor do I know any of these HG's on a personal level, therefore in general, I rarely take anyone's comment's serious if they've written their assessment of a HG, now if someone bashes another individual's race or on how they speak if it's in person ( rarely in writing ) whether it's in a hidden message or not, I am offended, because there are trolls who get pleasure making fun of other nationalities, first of all OIMO it's very odd; anyone would write a certain race as " clean " perhaps' I do NOT understand though I suppose I'm having an Amber moment, but I've never heard there were dirty races. The Holocaust provides the background why the comments Amber made were offensive, the womens movement provides the background to comments Dick made to Jen, the civil rights movement relates to the "n" word, and on and on.

Well, that's probably because most of Dick's remarks were made towards and about women and perhaps we've become desensitized to the bitch comments etc. because of the society we live in. I can't tell you how disappointed I am that more women did not express outrage over his clearly abusive language and behavior towards Jen and a few others. If you can't see his behavior as abusive (he is still mentioning that he'd like to murder Jen or someone and hide her in a back yard) than I can't help you. I know what I see and it's abusive. I do think it's a shame that more women don't feel that way. I guess some women think it's acceptable behavior to be called slut, bitch, and whatnot.

In defense of everyone ganging up on Jameca and saying she has floated by in this game, I think we should all think about how difficult it has to be living in that household with all those freaks for this length of time. I mean, THAT, in and of itself is a remarkable feat. That she is the only black person on the show hasn't been brought up much that I know of and again, that has to be a big deal for her--we can't know how difficult an adjustment that has been. Just surviving the experience is really commendable to me and that the other houseguests are measuring her "contribution" is really kind of offensive to me. I think she has done a masterful job aside from the blunder of giving up those HOH competitions. Zach ragging on Jameca's game is laughable. He wins one HOH and is suddenly a player. I don't think so.

And I do love the Jackal on GH!!!! I actually know what he's saying when he does his jackal-speak.

I think a Jameeka/Jess nomination with Jameeka going home is genius on Zach's part.

He portrays Jess as the pawn and positions himself to make a deal in the final 5 with EITHER E/J or D/D, depending on which pair is HOH.

Now, if Dick is smart, he'll make a deal with Jameeka after the POV and actually boot Jess. But that depends on how the POV plays out.

This is when BB gets interesting... Love it.

P.S. Unkind words may or may not cause offense to everyone. People are suggesting that those who aren't offended are hate-mongers. Could we just accept that they are instead simply unoffended?

If someone says something that I find demeaning to myself or others, sometimes I take offense and get upset. Knee jerk reaction. Sometimes, on my better days, I simply consider the source and either disagree gently or simply walk away. That doesn't mean I agree, it doesn't mean I'm even offended, it just means I know better than to confront.

I don't agree that the moon is made of cheese, but I wouldn't be offended by someone saying it. Not everything need be an emotional reaction.

Peace, people. If you are truly tolerant, you must also tolerate the intolerant!
